Cute little spot that's BYOB. Perfect spot to hang with friends and try some fresh Mediterranean cuisine.

Excellent place to eat. Delightful ambiance and photos absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our smoked salmon flatbread dand the soup du jour was gazpacho which was tasty . We had the swordfish and lamb shank tagine . The lamb shanks as tender and tasty and the tagine was a very hardy portion . The swordfish was very tasty . Dessert there was also delicious - we had the peach bread and the creme brulee The service was responsive and the food came out at a reasonable place

This restaurant has been on my list ever since I moved to Fairmount. It is absolutely adorable and a hidden gem in the neighborhood. A small and intimate space. My bf and I enjoyed our experience very much, but both agreed we wouldn't order the same food next time. We ordered the baked Brie in clay pot as our app and everything about that dish was perfect! Extremely flavorful and a perfect way to start our meal. Only downside was that the portion was fairly small. So delicious though! I was debating between the sesame crusted salmon filet and grilled king shrimp. The waiter suggested the salmon because it is very different. My salmon was perfectly cooked and everything on my plate tasted amazing. Perfect portion size! It was delicious, but I personally wouldn't order it again because the ginger plum sauce was just a bit too sweet for me. My bf ordered the seafood risotto and the seafood was very generous. He wasn't the biggest fan of his dish because the cream sauce was a bit bland. All the seafood was drenched in the thick white sauce. I thought it was delicious when I took a few bites, but I would not order that as my entree because it is a very heavy meal. We ordered the warm peach bread pudding for dessert. It was very good, but did not blow us away. I would try something different next time. Great service, beautiful decor, intimate setting, byo and flavorful food. I would 100% come back.

Digging Figs! Came here for a Friday night date night. We've passed this place countless times on our runs and walks within the neighborhood and finally had a chance to pop in and try it out! We called ahead and they were able to make a reservation for us for 7pm. We took the short walk over - stepping into the Moroccan inspired motif. They had us seated in the inner corner and each party was spaced out to allow for proper social distancing. Peering over the menu, we chose the mezze board and brie as our appetizers. We chose to split the Greek style pasta and the bread pudding for dessert with some Moroccan tea! Everything was really delicious and ample portion wise for 2! We were definitely enjoying the developed flavors and the great service. Thank you a great time Figs - happy to come back for another food journey!

My wife and I had a terrific experience at this neighborhood gem. We started with the Moroccan mussels, which were served in a tasty broth. For the main course, I had the sesame crusted salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Loved the contrast of the crunchy sesame seeds on the flaky fish. Asparagus was tender and the potatoes were creamy and well seasoned. My wife opted for the duck, which is always risky because not every restaurant cooks it correctly. I'm happy to report that Figs absolutely nailed it. The duck was crispy on the outside and not overcooked. For dessert, mango sorbet and crème brûlée. The crème brûlée could have used some real vanilla bean, but otherwise was very good. I also recommend the Moroccan mint tea. Would definitely recommend this place!

I love this place. Where to begin? It's one of my best places for a weekday lunch. Dinner menu items at a discount. It's such a good deal. Most of the food I've had were delicious. I really like pasta dishes and whole fish entree. Overall good flavor, spice and tastes fresh. Also you gotta have desserts. The Brownie Terrine, bread pudding, and homemade ice cream. Mmmm... P.S. It's cash only. There is an ATM conveniently outside the restaurant and a Wells Fargo just blocks away.

We came here for dinner. First off cash only and BYOB. But didn't mind that. The food was solid. We tried a couple smaller dishes. We got the salmon pizza, tuna (my favorite appetizer)spinach and feta triangle, scallops. All was delicious and fresh. The place was not busy, but had a good carryout crowd. The appetizer "my favorite appetizer" was ironically my favorite.

    Grilled swordfish

It is a wonderful small restaurant with personal service and high-quality food. The swordfish was very good, and the duck was amazing. The decor provides a nice Middle Eastern flair. Highly recommended. Also, they were perfectly accommodating with bringing our own wine.

Visited this hidden gem in Fairmount on a whim for Saturday brunch. The place is very cute and quaint with Moroccan decor adorning the walls. The brunch menu features some American classics but with a Mediterranean flare. The food was great and the woman who was the server for the entire dining room was fantastic. I'm not a big turkey bacon person, but it was cooked very well and didn't have the typical rubbery texture I've had elsewhere. Oh and did I mention it's BYOB?! Can't wait to come again to try the dinner menu! Just keep in mind they're cash only, but there is an ATM outside.

This place is BYOB and the food is good but we were actually confused by some of the items like Sashimi being offered on the menu - is it part of Moroccon food? The sesame crusted Salmon is really good but I am not a fan of the Lamb Shank offered here - a little too bland for me. The service is nice and the woman who served us kept checking on us from time to time. Delicious desserts - Personally I really liked the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream but my friend thought it was average. One thing to definitely try is their Fig ice cream which (I think) you cannot find anywhere else easily and it is really delicious.

Here is what we ordered: - Parisian (daily fresh baked croissant and baguettes with French butter, apricot jam, and honey) - Moroccan Breakfast (comes with a side salad and tangerine wedge) OMG, the entire Parisian basket of goodies was absolutely delightful. The croissants were incredibly soft and buttery. Love that one of the croissants was filled with dark chocolate. The owner told us that it is baked daily and is served with French butter. If you know, you know, that French butter hits differently. And the Moroccan Breakfast is something I never had before. It is served with baguette so you can soak up all the sauce. The tomatoes were perfect without being too tart. The spice was not too overpowering and the eggs...again perfect! Also had their mocha latte and wow, they use real dark chocolate. Make sure you mix it well before drinking. The owner, Christopher, came by to chat with us for a bit. Told me that I must come back next time and try their quiche Lorraine. From the outside, it doesn't look like much; in fact, it looks like a bit of a dive from outside. But when you walk in, you are transported. The design of the restaurant is so special - community tables, pillows, tapestries, waterfall features, tiles, and belly dancing. The food was a little inconsistent. We shared many dishes: Bastilla (baked layers of filo dough, eggs, chicken, almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar); hummus (chickpeas, tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, served with pita bread); Spanakopita; salad trio (eggplant salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and carrot salad); lamb tagine (stew of lamb, onions, and roasted peppers topped with honey and served with rice); Moroccan chicken with harissa cumin sauce; mujaddara (cracked bulgur wheat cooked with lentils and caramelized onions); and mint tea. I wish they didn't serve bottled waters, and the food was mostly good but not the most consistent. Our mujaddara wasn't served with the yogurt sauce listed on the menu, and the lamb with the tagine was incredibly fatty, making some of it inedible. The mint tea was really really really sweet - like syrup! I also wish the bastilla had a little less powdered sugar (I like on the dish, but it was A LOT of powdered sugar), and it was quite dry. But the eggplant salad, carrot salad, hummus, and mujaddara (even without the yogurt sauce) were great. I would happily have eaten just those dishes. They were busy - it's a popular place - but service was also a challenge. It took us almost a half hour to get the check and pay. I had to ask for the bill twice and then it still took a while to get it, for it to get picked up, and for it to come back to us. It's pretty bad if I'm considering walking up to the bar to get the check and pay. I loved the ambiance and the character. I loved that you can't tell how amazing it's going to be inside when you see the outside of the building - it's a surprise for sure. Our experience was that the food was a bit inconsistent, but it certainly was a fun meal.

I knew I could only enjoy a little knibble of each of the delicious salads that were initial placed on the table. I think I ate all the twice-cooked eggplant. It was so good! The hummus is honestly the best I've ever had, and the laffa bread is such a yummy accompaniment. I had to stop myself from eating too much! I tried the Phyllo-wrapped Haloumi. It was ok, but I liked my dad's Freekeh Arancini better. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder is the reason I had to pace myself. This is also one of my favorite lamb dishes that I've ever had. The greens are a nice accomaniment. I didn't care for the crispy rice, and it was the only thing I didn't like. I got the Pecan Konafe for dessert and it was like an exotic pecan pie. Love this! The honey ice cream was so refreshing after a big meal. I left very happy.

The second I knew I was visiting Philly, I set a reminder on my phone to vie for a reservation. We got a 9:30pm reservation, which was late for my usual dining habits but absolutely no question worth the extra few hours to build up and appetite and anticipate going to such a renowned restaurant. We were met with a beautiful dining room and kind, passionate people at Zahav, especially our bartenders, who made our experience a true EVENT, describing each dish to us even as we were making decisions on the tasting menu, and vouching for the fact that we MUST try the halloumi, which ended up being my favorite dish! Wow, the care that is put into the craft of this food is unreal. Zahav is a true celebration of cuisine. We started with the laffa bread being served straight out of the fire with accompaniments which were absolute flavor bombs, especially the eggplant and pickled cabbage. The bread was warm, soft, and so flavorful in itself but made even better by the hummus-tehina, which was perhaps the smoothest I've ever had. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder fell right off the bone, and the Amba-braised Greens and Crispy Persian Rice were side dishes that felt like main events in themselves -- the crispiness of the rice perfectly complemented the pomegranate sauce of the lamb. This was the perfect celebration dinner, and Zahav quickly made it to the top of my list of places that live up to their hype and go above and beyond in the kindness realm.
