Neighborhood BYOB spot serving up various Mediterranean cuisine. Many people bringing in bottles of wine to enjoy with dinner. When it's busy, it does get a bit cramped in there, but staff are welcoming and make sure everyone is comfortable. They do now take credit card recently. Dinner is served with a small bread basket. Started with the tapas platter which seemed a bit uninspired, though fine. Braised lamb shank was a large portion. The lamb itself needed to be trimmed quite a bit, though it was quite tender and had good flavor. The bed of veggies below were a bit bland compared to the apple cider saffron broth that was mentioned on the menu. Both salmon dishes that others at my table got said they were good. Nice dinner spot, thanks read more

I came here solo and ordered quite a bit for one. The food looked beautiful, but a few things didn't match the experience I was hoping for. I started with the fresh tuna appetizer. The sashimi itself was underwhelming, but the wasabi, ginger, and seaweed added much needed flavor. I also tried the salad, which included sweet beets that weren't mentioned on the menu. The description said roasted, but I couldn't taste that at all. If anything, it tasted more like sweet and pickled flavor. I ordered the Ciuppin next. The server warned me it would be spicy, but it arrived almost completely bland. I had to ask for extra black pepper just to get some flavor. The mussels and shrimp were very good, but the pasta / sauce ratio was off. There wasn't nearly enough sauce to coat the pasta, which left the dish lacking flavor. From the photo, it looks like the sauce would cover everything, but once you start mixing it, you realize it doesn't go far at all. Then I ordered the warm apple cobbler for dessert. I was expecting something baked and comforting. Instead I received uncooked oats mixed with cooked apples and a scoop of ice cream on top. Why is this called warm apple cobbler on the menu? And why didn't they explain in the description that this contains uncooked oats in every bite? I was so disappointed because I don't eat oats and certainly would not have ordered this if I would have known. It resembles a breakfast granola bar rather than a cobbler. It felt lazy and misleading. I paid for my meal using my phone. After I left a tip and completed the transaction, the server told me, "We usually don't accept anything less than 18%," and pointed out that what I left was much lower than what they expect. Then she walked away without another word. Even though the menu clearly states that only applies to parties of six or more. I was dining alone. Tips are earned, and honestly, the food wasn't that good, especially not after being served a trail mix dessert pretending to be cobbler. I was surprised she questioned the amount I chose to leave for a solo meal, especially after everything was already processed. I shouldn't have left anything at all. Tipping is optional, and the experience just didn't earn more. Everything was amazing! The food, service, ambiance. Sorry to see it close. It was a highlight of the neighborhood for many years.

Stopped by for a quick bite before heading to the airport. I had their coffee and baked brie in a clay pot, was so tasty. The place was welcoming and vibrant, felt very comfortable. I enjoyed watching other guests come in with their wine bottles specially the older couple next to us, wish they had these in California. read more

The best!!! I've been here more times than I can count and everything I've had has been outstanding. I love their tuna appetizer as well as the baked brie. Any entree will be the right choice, but I've loved the crab stuffed filet of sole, the lamb shank, and the Greek pasta. Not to mention they have an incredible brunch. An amazing little neighborhood spot that never misses. read more

4 of is went to Figs last night, v we hadn't been in a while. The quality of the food and the service were wonderful. My husband had the lamb shank tagine which was very moist, transfer and flavorful. 2 of had the Ciuppin a spicy mixed seafood dish over pasta which was excellent. Spicy and very flavorful without too much heat and the 4th person had Greek style pasta with shrimp which she said was very good which I believed because she ate everything. We're started with a mixed plate of tapas and for dessert shared a peach bread pudding. So yummy. We're looking forward to going back. read more

Wow! What an amazing find. This neighborhood restaurant is cozy and inviting; a really good feeling place to be. The staff were very friendly, professional, and attentive. And the food...phenomenal! I had the seared tuna. The tastes were a true delight and the tuna was cooked perfectly! My companions were equally pleased. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. Thanks for the great experience! read more

BYOB. Quiet neighborhood eatery near the art museum. Wonderful place. Attentive. Menu choices were well thought out. I do not have a taste for fish like my friends so I ordered the duck. Perfectly cooked and presented. The fish, my friends said, was excellent. The bread pudding for dessert capped off the meal nicely. Then we went for a nice walk around the museum. Beautiful night. read more

This restaurant has been on my list ever since I moved to Fairmount. It is absolutely adorable and a hidden gem in the neighborhood. A small and intimate space. My bf and I enjoyed our experience very much, but both agreed we wouldn't order the same food next time. We ordered the baked Brie in clay pot as our app and everything about that dish was perfect! Extremely flavorful and a perfect way to start our meal. Only downside was that the portion was fairly small. So delicious though! I was debating between the sesame crusted salmon filet and grilled king shrimp. The waiter suggested the salmon because it is very different. My salmon was perfectly cooked and everything on my plate tasted amazing. Perfect portion size! It was delicious, but I personally wouldn't order it again because the ginger plum sauce was just a bit too sweet for me. My bf ordered the seafood risotto and the seafood was very generous. He wasn't the biggest fan of his dish because the cream sauce was a bit bland. All the seafood was drenched in the thick white sauce. I thought it was delicious when I took a few bites, but I would not order that as my entree because it is a very heavy meal. We ordered the warm peach bread pudding for dessert. It was very good, but did not blow us away. I would try something different next time. Great service, beautiful decor, intimate setting, byo and flavorful food. I would 100% come back. read more

Digging Figs! Came here for a Friday night date night. We've passed this place countless times on our runs and walks within the neighborhood and finally had a chance to pop in and try it out! We called ahead and they were able to make a reservation for us for 7pm. We took the short walk over - stepping into the Moroccan inspired motif. They had us seated in the inner corner and each party was spaced out to allow for proper social distancing. Peering over the menu, we chose the mezze board and brie as our appetizers. We chose to split the Greek style pasta and the bread pudding for dessert with some Moroccan tea! Everything was really delicious and ample portion wise for 2! We were definitely enjoying the developed flavors and the great service. Thank you a great time Figs - happy to come back for another food journey! read more

My wife and I had a terrific experience at this neighborhood gem. We started with the Moroccan mussels, which were served in a tasty broth. For the main course, I had the sesame crusted salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Loved the contrast of the crunchy sesame seeds on the flaky fish. Asparagus was tender and the potatoes were creamy and well seasoned. My wife opted for the duck, which is always risky because not every restaurant cooks it correctly. I'm happy to report that Figs absolutely nailed it. The duck was crispy on the outside and not overcooked. For dessert, mango sorbet and crème brûlée. The crème brûlée could have used some real vanilla bean, but otherwise was very good. I also recommend the Moroccan mint tea. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

Still love this restaurant! The food is delicious and the owners/staff are absolutely fabulous. Now they accept credit cards!

I love this place. Where to begin? It's one of my best places for a weekday lunch. Dinner menu items at a discount. It's such a good deal. Most of the food I've had were delicious. I really like pasta dishes and whole fish entree. Overall good flavor, spice and tastes fresh. Also you gotta have desserts. The Brownie Terrine, bread pudding, and homemade ice cream. Mmmm... P.S. It's cash only. There is an ATM conveniently outside the restaurant and a Wells Fargo just blocks away. read more

We came here for dinner. First off cash only and BYOB. But didn't mind that. The food was solid. We tried a couple smaller dishes. We got the salmon pizza, tuna (my favorite appetizer)spinach and feta triangle, scallops. All was delicious and fresh. The place was not busy, but had a good carryout crowd. The appetizer "my favorite appetizer" was ironically my favorite. read more

Visited for dinner service on a Sunday night. The service was great with a half full restaurant. Two appetizers, and two entrees arrived at our table well-paced. My favorite part of this meal was actually the mint tea. "My Favorite Appetizer" which was the tuna sashimi was tasty and enjoyable with the soy sauce & seaweed salad. Fuji apple salad coated skillfully with blue cheese dressing was really good. The seafood risotto was our favorite of the two entrees. The cream sauce was lemony and there was an assortment of a couple small scallops, two medium-sized shrimp, and about a dozen mussels over toothy rice. The crab-stuffed sole was just ok. Mashed potatoes were fine, green beans were still crisp but very thin. I had a similar dish a couple weekends ago and this one was a little sadder. There was what seemed like 1tbsp of crab and it didn't look like lump crab. The fish was barely noticeable. I wouldn't recommend this dish. The ambiance in the restaurant was very casual and dressed down. Didn't visit the bathroom and can't comment on cleanliness. read more

Visited this hidden gem in Fairmount on a whim for Saturday brunch. The place is very cute and quaint with Moroccan decor adorning the walls. The brunch menu features some American classics but with a Mediterranean flare. The food was great and the woman who was the server for the entire dining room was fantastic. I'm not a big turkey bacon person, but it was cooked very well and didn't have the typical rubbery texture I've had elsewhere. Oh and did I mention it's BYOB?! Can't wait to come again to try the dinner menu! Just keep in mind they're cash only, but there is an ATM outside. read more

This place is BYOB and the food is good but we were actually confused by some of the items like Sashimi being offered on the menu - is it part of Moroccon food? The sesame crusted Salmon is really good but I am not a fan of the Lamb Shank offered here - a little too bland for me. The service is nice and the woman who served us kept checking on us from time to time. Delicious desserts - Personally I really liked the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream but my friend thought it was average. One thing to definitely try is their Fig ice cream which (I think) you cannot find anywhere else easily and it is really delicious. read more

Authentic and un-pretentious, Figs is a Mediterranean diner that serves excellent and affordable brunch on weekends. The interior is decorated in beautiful, Mudejar style vases and Moorish table and room decor. The atmosphere of the dining experience is completed by the soulful Arabic music played overhead. The waitress and waiter, who seemed to be the owner of the restaurant, seated me promptly during brunch rush hour on Sunday, was extremely cordial and frequently checked up on me. I ordered the Morrocan Eggs with beef and shrimp (shrimp was an addition) and the dish totalled to only 10.20! The meal was served with diced home potatoes, salad and three pieces of toast with jam. The potatoes were cooked fresh and appeared to be stewed to have a creamy texture, which was a pleasant surprise from the old crispy breakfast potatoes and paired extremely well with the basil tomato sauce base. The sunny side up eggs were made perfectly to be moderately runny but maintained its shape and easily portioned with a knife. The dish reminded me of the Israelian Shashouka dish, but with a gumbo twist with the addition of beef and shrimp, which adds savory substinence to the meal! The toast with jam was a nice brunch touch, but also can be used to soak up extra tomato sauce on the plate to make sure not a drop is missed. The Morrocan egg dish left me comfortably full and the whole dining experience absolutely delighted. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking to indulge their Mediterranean culinary fancies, or simply looking for healthy and delicious weekend brunch options! read more

Figs is the type of place that gives Fairmount such a wonderful atmosphere. This place is BYOB and cash only, which means they are never overly crowded and their prices are reasonable. My girlfriend and I went for a later dinner on Tuesday night and the place was about half full. We sat outside on their sidewalk seating, which I really enjoy if it's not too hot. We started with their Baked Brie in a Clay Pot with Honey and Almonds. This is probably the go-to appetizer at Figs. At only $8.50, its worth trying this dish. I got the Lamb Shank Tagine with couscous and sautéed vegetables. It was VERY good - the lamb pretty much falls off the bone. The whole chickpeas were a nice touch. My girlfriend got the linguine with feta, spinach and tomatoes. This was not a super adventurous dish but it was definitely prepared very well. I love that they gave her a spoon to twirl the pasta. I am very happy that this restaurant is in my neighborhood. We had a fairly large, well-prepared dinner (appetizer and two entrees) in a nice atmosphere for $55 (before tip). I will definitely be back and you should too. read more

The food and service at Figs are consistently wonderful, and I feel badly that I haven't written a review until now. I've had dinner there three times over the past 18 or so months and have loved everything I've ordered. Their fish entrees are delicious, especially the salmon. I had an excellent filet a few months ago, and had the lamb tagine last week and loved it. The decor inside is colorful, warm, and reminiscent of Morocco; and the server (and owner I believe) is always very kind and attentive. It's great to have this place within walking distance of our home! Oh, and it's also BYOB, which is an added bonus. read more

Restaurant has average ambiance and is understaffed. Wait staff impatient even when tables were empty. Unable to order our entrees as we wanted because of staff impatience. Although what we ordered was good, the beets were pickled not roasted. We left not ordering any mains because of wait staff. Cash is not king. They only take cash and are BYOB. I do not need to support businesses that are trying to evade taxation. I tried to pay with a big bill but wait staff never came to accept payment and give change. Do. Not. Recommend. read more

Out of the select few restaurants I have been to in Fairmount, Figs may be favorite. What a hidden gem within the neighborhood. Stellar Moroccan cuisine with quality that truly makes an imprint. I always get the sesame crusted salmon, and tonight it tasted amazing. The portions are fitting and the meal is certainly filling as the side of mash potatoes and asparagus are an exquisite touch. A great place for special occasions, Figs is never overly crowded, so getting a reservation is fairly easy. Though they really emphasize the whole reservation ordeal. Place seems old fashioned; BYOB, cash only, one waitress. Its atmosphere and ambience are comforting for what feels like it might be an expensive night out, but is actually quite affordable for fine dining. I don't come to Figs often, but when I do, it's always an excellent experience. read more

Cute, solid breakfast/brunch spot that wasn't too crowded on a rainy Sunday at 10:30am. Food had good flavor, especially the field greens that came on the plate- the balsamic on them was awesome. Next time I go, I'll ask for more greens as there was just a small amount. My omelette was super fluffy and tasty. I tasted a bite of my bf's Moroccan eggs and they too had great flavor with big pieces of ground beef in a yummy tomato sauce (but not TOO much sauce). Coffee was delicious as well. My bf commented on how good the espresso was and he's a coffee snob LOL. Server was attentive and super sweet. We'll go back when in that immediate area again. read more

Not gonna lie, kind of shook from how much I liked this place. In the midst of packing for my move out yesterday I hadn't had food allll day and come 7 pm I was ready to consume everything and anything. Luckily for me, we wanted something that we could walk to and Figs is just a ten minute walk away from me. We got the vegetable pizza flatbread and steamed mussels for appetizers. Wow. Just wow. The juice that the mussels came in was so ridiculously rich that I legit chugged the rest of the plate after the mussels were gone (may or may not be pictured bc that's kind of gross that I just admitted that). The flatbread was also great with its pesto, sun dried tomato and feta - my boyfriend doesn't really like eating pizza bc he's all about that healthy non carb lifestyle with lots of protein (which I obviously don't abide by lol) but he freaking loved this pizza despite its lack of meats - it was refreshing with its cucumber and the flatbread was thin and not overwhelmingly carby. For entrees we got the seafood risotto and the swordfish. Holy freaking shjskalakshaj. Again, I reiterate that I'm freaking shook from how much I enjoyed this place so I don't know if part of that was sheer hunger and desire to be culinarily satiated but fudgeeeee that ish was heavenly. The seafood risotto came in this amazing sauce, completely freaking drenched - I can't put my finger on it what the base of the sauce was but it was like a rich creamy almost corny taste. The shrimp, scallops and mussels were all meaty and surprisingly not the star of the shows because the sauce was the star. The swordfish was also amazing topped with this delicious I think it said bbq sauce but it was a little sweeter and the almonds added texture - the fish was so tender and all the diverse tastes made for a rich flavor profile. It's a quaint and small place in Fairmount, had never heard of this place but I highly recommend it. The place is BYOB. It's open kitchen so you can see the staff playing with Fire from your table. The decor is warm and homey. They close at 9 and stop taking people in at 8/8:15 though - just FYI. read more

First time here and I loved it! Super cute and intimate restaurant with good food and great coffee! I came for brunch but I was actually referred here for their dinner which I heard is phenomenal. We had no issues with service and got a great seat near the windows. Pros: probably the best brunch pricing in Philly, no wait time at peak brunch hours (I was there from 12:30-2:00pm), well seasoned food, good portions that are filling yet not leave you uncomfortably full Cons: if you're into pork bacon with your breakfast, this isn't the place for you read more

Came across this quaint but busy little BYOB in my old neighborhood. I've always loved the Fairmont/Spring Garden section of Philly. Parking is and always has been a problem but sooner or later you'll find a spot. Overall appearance could be improved but then again I wasn't there to eat the decor. Our apps included a pasta-less goat cheese lasagna and a Mediterranean sampler. Both were very good. Entrees included garlic mash and grilled asparagus to go along with my nicely grilled Bronzino fish and a Angel hair seafood dish for my guest. Both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. We were given a warm Mediterranean tea (thanks to our server) before our warm Apple cobbler with ice cream for dessert. Service was excellent which made for a lovely dinner. read more

It's been a while since we had eaten at Figs, the scene of our first date almost twenty years ago. We've gone back many times over the years, but recently returned to celebrate our anniversary. It was just as good as ever! My usual go-to is the seared tuna over banana curry, but this time I tried the sesame crusted salmon, which was also delicious.
