Who knew? Moroccan at midnite in South Philly. Great sandwich and veggie stew. First time. I'll be back.

Bisara soup. Compare this photo to the one they have on their menu. So terrible. Ended up putting it in trash. $6 waste of money!

Gave me really greasy fries and some horrible quality kofta sandwich. All that for 35$, do you overcharge because it's almost midnight??

Every time I have French food, I always say to myself, I should have been born French. Lol. They…read moreare like the Japanese, they only serve the very best! Looking for a brunch spot, Yelp photos lead me to this Moroccan/French cafe. Super quaint interior with tons of natural light and a gorgeous outdoor patio seating if that is what you prefer. Order at the counter and grab your seat of choice. Here is what we ordered: - Parisian (daily fresh baked croissant and baguettes with French butter, apricot jam, and honey) - Moroccan Breakfast (comes with a side salad and tangerine wedge) OMG, the entire Parisian basket of goodies was absolutely delightful. The croissants were incredibly soft and buttery. Love that one of the croissants was filled with dark chocolate. The owner told us that it is baked daily and is served with French butter. If you know, you know, that French butter hits differently. And the Moroccan Breakfast is something I never had before. It is served with baguette so you can soak up all the sauce. The tomatoes were perfect without being too tart. The spice was not too overpowering and the eggs...again perfect! Also had their mocha latte and wow, they use real dark chocolate. Make sure you mix it well before drinking. The owner, Christopher, came by to chat with us for a bit. Told me that I must come back next time and try their quiche Lorraine. I always love it when the owner takes the time to ask how we enjoyed the meal. The entire staff is incredibly friendly.

It was pretty yummy. The breakfast was good, but I will say that it did not fill me up as much. I think the portions were too small and the price are way too high for what you got you're paying. It's mostly the experience to sit at a cute restaurant. Will definitely come back. Just order extra items because you'll be hungry in 2 hours.

So great! Visited in a Saturday night and sat on the patio on a beautiful night…read more The tasting menu started with for the table, laffa bread hummus, beets, baba ghanoush, pickled cabbage, carrots, marinated cauliflower and spicy fennel. We could have stopped here and I would have been thrilled. For mezze we had the wagyu tartare and Haloumi, the puffed buckwheat was a cool texture and much preferred the scheese to the beef. The beef unfortunately had a spice or flavor that overpowered everything. For the entree we had the lamb shoulder, meaty, lucious and the Persian rice in the side was delicious but we were stuffed! Ended with the dessert trio, all a great not too sweet bite but the blueberry konafi was our favorite.

There is one aspect I'll save for the end that is needed for management so that they can better train their Directors of First Impressions aka hostesses to be more resourceful and more befitting of the quality of the restaurant experience. Once my situation was solved... the Zahav experience that I was rather expecting took over and delivered on all cylinders as expected of such a fine quality institution. I was with a party of 8, and the host of our gathering I'm assuming aligned on a shared food experience for the full table and boy that was a strategic move. We got to sample so many fabulous dishes that we passed around the table. This was perfect considering different food experiences, diets and food considerations as we had some gluten watchers and a vegitarian at our table and in the end everyone was statisfied. Upon further research I learned tha Zahav does have a 4-course prix fix tasting menu for $90/person. Typically starts with freshly bake laffa bread, signature hummus and tehina, an assortment of seasonal vegetable salads adn spreads, followed by a mezze, a selection of charcoal-grilled skewers, adn a large-format marquee dishes like their famous slow-braised pomegranate labm shoulder and a dessert course. This sounds exactly like what we had sampled and to my NYC trained taste buds, was DELICIOUS. The preparations and plattings were works of art. To top off an excellent dining experinece, somehow we ended up being given a tour of the kitchen in action. I'm a magazine photographer that has been in many kitchens, none like Zahavs'. Quiet, immaculate, their charcoal cooking leaves a light glow and scent and is warming. Small kitchen considering the volume of dishes they turn out each night. Back to my inital introduction to the brand via the incompentence of the hostes team on Tuesday 9/15. I said I was joinging a client group dinner and they sent me to the wrong room, then I was told there was no such party. I lost 30 minutes dealing with these two incompetent individuals. I politely stepped outside to make some calls and send off text messages but unfortunately the group was busy enjoying their opening round of food and drinks while I was outside thinking I had the date or time wrong. After trying again to speak with the hostess staff I opt for one strategy before heading back to my car, to re-enter and walk the entire restaurant hoping to spot my group. Funny thing, one of the guests in my group went through a similar experience... hence it wasn't just me. Imagine had I thrown my hands up in defeat and leave. Unlike me to not have food photos to share, was just not the right setting. Take my word for it, each plate was a work of art.

The Lebanese red wine was delicious. The Mint tea and Baklava for dessert was the perfect end to an overall super satisfying meal. However, I was so disappointed in the Lamb Tajine. We got it to go because we were too full and only realized the portion for it was way too small for a main course. We only got a bunch of rice with a few pieces of lamb and carrots.

I decided to go with them because I liked their menu offerings and they had high reviews. We got there at around 530 pm, and it was relatively empty inside. We got seated immediately. The decor is very decorated with rich colors, fabrics, and chandeliers. I sat on an ottoman chair, and the tables looked like large serving platters. There were 3 menus to choose from--the regular menu, the restaurant special, and the prix fix menu that comes with appetizer, 2 entrees and dessert. We opted to order off the traditional menu. I got the grilled lamb platter and my friend had the grilled chicken platter. We had falafels to start. The falafels were alright. They could have been a bit hotter. They came out within a few minutes of ordering, so I assume they had been prepped and weren't reheated before serving. I did like the yogurt dipping sauce and the pickled turnips and cucumbers. But, the grilled platters were the highlight of the night. There was so much food on the platter. We should have just shared. I really enjoyed the tabbouleh and grilled lamb with the rice. There was also a side of pita with hummus. It was just so tasty, and we both had plenty of food to take home. The meals were reasonably priced and we both left feeling full. Would recommend.
