The gyros and Greek salad with chicken are consistently excellent, and the cheesesteak is phenomenal, genuinely one of the best I've had in the city. Both the regular and curly fries are great, the prices are fair, delivery is fast, and the quality is remarkably consistent. This restaurant was highly recommended as somewhere to get a great meal. It was lunchtime and I love eating Greek food. We are about a block away on the Penn Campus so we decided to check it out. The restaurant was about half full. Most people ordered their meal to go and rushed to get back to work. There is an extensive menu filled with different options. I decided to go for the plate option which comes with an entree and two appetizers. I ordered the chicken with tzatziki sauce along with pita on the side. For the two sides I chose lemon potatoes and mushrooms. The chicken was great after rolling it up in the pita and dipping it in the tzatziki sauce. The lemon was a little too strong in those potatoes. Next time I might choose french fries or rice instead. They give you a large amount of food for the price. I was unable to finish the entire meal and grabbed the rest to go for later. The staff was very helpful getting a to go box and cleaning up afterwards. I have a very picky palate and I cannot for the life of me understand why this isn't rated higher. I eat here frequently, the platter of 1 meat, 3 sides, a sauce (always get the tzatziki), and pita is $13.50. You can order at a kiosk so you don't even have to interact with anyone. Their tzatziki might be the best I've ever had and I've been to Greece multiple times. I eat mainly Mediterranean and this place is top tier casual Greek food (and affordable too). Greek lady has mediocre greek food but very good breakfast. Their home fries are phenomenal, the breakfast sandwiches are huge, and you can't go wrong with one of the omelettes. Not sure why this restaurant has such low ratings. It is the perfect no frills lunch spot with affordable food for great value! I have only gotten the house/lamb gyros. The meat is always tender and well seasoned. They put fries in the sandwich (personally, I take them out to munch on) and layered on top is salad with lettuce, tomatos, and onions. Greek Lady is a solid University City lunch staple. With a menu sure to please all and prices that can't be beat, it's worth skipping the bagged lunch and checking out their selections. Their salads are a total winner - they're HUGE! You could easily share between two people or make a second meal out of them. During my last visit, I opted for some Chicken Orzo soup and spanakopita - less than $10, and a very large portion. The spanakopita would have been filling all on it's own. It was a little on the greasy side, but I had no issue polishing the entire generous slice. I also loved the soup! Chicken soup is always therapeutic. I saw the Greek Lady on JL Jupiter's YouTube channel. I'm trying not to eat as much processed meat these days, so their chicken finger hoagie sounded like a great option. I ordered the chicken finger hoagie, along with a couple of desserts for delivery. My delivery came promply and the chicken finger hoagie did not disappoint. The worst thing I could say was that it was too large to eat in one meal, and doesn't retain it's flavor the next day the same way a traditional lunchmeat hoagie would. But it a delicious hoagie, full of chopped up pieces of perfectly fried chicken. I really wanted to devour the entire thing in one meal, but just couldn't do it. My desserts were a slice of carrot cake and red velvet cake. The red velvet cake was disappointing. I would not order that again. The carrot cake was outstanding. I'm not a big fan of the nuts, so the cake could have been perfect without buts. But even with the nuts it's one of the top carrot cakes I've ever tasted. The Greek Lady is an excellent place! We went here twice on our long weekend in Philly. The food is fresh and delicious, the portion sizes are generous, and all for a decent cost. Our party ordered the lamb gyro, the chicken gyro the veggie hoagie (large and generous) and the Greek Lady salad. Everything was delicious. The gyros were fresh and generous, the salads were gigantic (we needed to-go boxes for those). The staff are excellent, courteous and very customer-oriented. We had a party of 10 and grabbed a table right outside, and it was delightful. The woman working (who we learned is from Albania) was so kind and thoughtful and we had a good time chatting with her--but didn't get her name. When you walk through the streets of University City, an area bustling with students running around to whatever destination they need to reach, you'll end up bypassing by Greek Lady. I know some people are religious to it. Others, would rather eat at Yiro Yiro down the street. I am one of the latter. This place, to me, exudes mid-food. I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon Ramsey showed up out of nowhere and had to revamp the restaurant. The only reason to come here is if you're just sick of everything else in the area and wanted to "try something different. I am giving this five stars but I think the service is slow. I've had to wait a while for some of my dishes and the whole pick up system seems a bit hectic. I used to come here for their gyros only, and I thought the food was alright. Maybe 3 stars. I think the biggest problem is that it's large and the meat gets a bit dry, but that might just be what gyros are like. However, the reason I'm giving this 5 stars is because the chicken tenders are amazing, but the fries are even better. The service is horrible - out of the four people in my group, only one received the correct order. We had to repeatedly return to the counter to ask for the rest of our orders. The waitress also delivered someone else's order to our table (twice!) and quickly walked off, making us run after her to let her know she left someone else's order. While the vegetarian gyro had most of the ingredients I wanted - lettuce, onion, tzatiki, fries, and feta - it didn't live up to my expectations. The pita was overstuffed to the point I had to take mini bites instead of wholesome bites. There were no tomatoes and no kalamata olives (!!!). A greek gyro without greek olives? How dare they?! My BF enjoyed his gyro, but neither of us finished our gyros so did he really like it? No one will ever know... Service is always friendly, but wait times for the food can vary substantially from 5 minutes to nearly half an hour. By far, the best thing to get on the menu is the Chicken Platter -- it comes with a huge serving of chicken (plenty to last over 2 meals), along with pita, two sides (I usually get the Greek salad and curly fries), and a dipping sauce (I opt for the tzatziki), for just under $10. The chicken is cooked well, but it always comes completely unseasoned, so expect to eat it with your dipping sauce or a different condiment. The pita is served warm in tin foil, but rather soggy as if it's just been reheated. The Greek salad is always fresh and comes with a hefty dollop of feta. It can sometimes be overly drenched in the oil and vinegar, so I typically ask for dressing on the side. The fries are almost definitely the same frozen ones that you can buy at any store, but are actually fried and have a nice crisp. I ordered the Vegetarian Gyro Platter. I will say that the food took longer than expected. The server also tried to give me a gyro with meat on it (I'm a vegetarian). When I received my food the sides were not with it. After finally waiting an extra ten minutes, I was able to eat. The gyro was really good! The pita bread was cooked well and there was an excellent amount of vegetables stuffed inside. I had French fries and rice as a side. I've been in Philly for 4 years now and this was the first time I got to try this place, I was not disappointed. I was suggested this place to some people who had passed through and thought it was delicious, so we headed down last night and grabbed some food. It was a cool little place in a nice area of UPenn surrounded by other stores and restaurants. I ordered the house gyro with broccoli and mashed potatoes and it was very good. The only problem was that the sides were cold when the food arrived to the table. But that was okay since the gyro was warm and tasted amazing.
