Overall all great experience. This place is pretty popular so I'd recommend making a reservation. Also street parking is tricky so give yourself enough time in case your riding around trying to wait for a parking spot to open up. There are a couple parking lots in the area but they are probably around $30ish and capacity fills up fast some nights. Just give yourself enough time to figure out parking if your driving. The ambiance is nice. Waiters are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The restaurant is moderate in size and the noise level is moderate as well. You can comfortably exchange table talk without having to raise your voice too loud. You basically pick one item from the grill per guest and the cost of that grill item covers the endless rounds of Saletim as well as dessert. Not a bad deal at all! The hummus is in my top 3 of the best on the planet. It's so creamy and has a delicious flavor profile. The Saletim is the first course and its a vibrant assortment of salads and spreads accompanied by warm pita bread. It's almost like a meal in one because you could easily make this your meal and be completely satisfied. I had never had Dorade until I tried it here and it was absolutely delicous. Dorade is a white, tender, and succulent fish with a mild, slightly sweet flavor. It is often compared to red snapper, pompano, or branzino but typically has a richer fat content. It's served headless and tailless and the skin is seared to be crispy. Really delish! It's served over a bed of Harrisa sweet potato mash topped with sweet shaved carrots. My other fave is the Lollipop Lamb Chops with Fennel Salad and Carmelized Apples. It's cooked medium rare unless you request a different cook on it. I especially appreciated this dish because of the flavor balance of the citrus/tangy fennel salad with the sweet apple spread and textured small bites of apple. Waaaay better than any chutney sauce served at most places in my opinion. The Hibiscus tea is good but was a tad bit on the tart side. But no worries..some folks like tart and that's fine..but if you want to sweet'n it up just a tad ask for a small shot of simple syrup. Our waiter recommended it and it was the perfect addition to giving it just a hint more of sweetness to balance out the tart. I enjoyed the brown sugar-vanilla soft served ice cream. It tasted good but also healthy with the spiced apple granola crunch. Really great experience and I can't wait to return.

Tips: Order the tuna tartare you will not be disappointed. Tricks: Anything you order can be shared between 2-3 people. Keep that in mind. Things to remember: You'll probably be here for at least 2 hours.. pace yourself! The food is absolutely delicious and I wish I had a Salatim plate every day at home. Super cozy in here so order a drink, bring friends, and enjoy! Can't wait to come back

It certainly was a fun experience! Did it live up to all the hype..? Not for me, but let me tell you why it deserves a spot in your dining repertoire. The style of food is amazing! I simply don't get enough Israeli-inspired cuisine. The intensity of flavor & spices coupled with a unique grilling tradition makes each bite memorable. The hummus is the most fantastic, creamy, concoction you'll have outside the Middle East. Yes, there are other fantastic versions in our cities, but Solomonov has presented a truly perfect one. The family-style, all you can eat, wheel of Salatim will keep you engaged. There's something for everyone's taste, but I only found 2 or 3 things worth going back for. Enough to keep me happy, but not blow my mind. It was fun to mix & match different combinations of accoutrements w/ the meats which included swordfish, skirt steak, & merguez (complimentary)- which made me happy as I was having buyer's remorse for not picking more exotic selections. Save room for dessert; the soft serve is a special finish to the flavors. Can't say I get the kitschy decor. 1970's wood paneling, vinyl tablecloths, & Hawaiian shirts are hilarious for the younger generations, but reminded me too much of my grandparent's basement bar. Staff was accommodating; nice that after 2 years waiting for the reservation we weren't rushed through the experience.

Really amazing food. This menu is priced as a scale for different entrees. You pay for the entree and get a three course meal. Starts with a heavenly spread of dips and salads with pita -- unlimited refills. Then a main. Then a dessert. Oh gosh we were stuffed but felt good. The food was fresh and delicious. Servers were so kind in explaining the different menu items. I cannot even put into words how enjoyable this experience was. A bit loud of a place and difficult to get a table so always get a reservation.

WOW! This place was so good! If you like legit middle eastern or Israeli food, this is a must try. The place is also so beautiful inside and the staff was very friendly. We were a group of four, so we decided to do a more family style approach, ordering the steak and chicken shishlik, the salmon, and the mushroom shishlik. All entrees come with the salatim, which includes some of the best pita I've had outside of Israel. It also has amazing dips and toppings, our favorites were the hummus, the cabbage, the beets, and the kale babaganoush. They are also refillable, which was amazing. All of our entrees were fantastic, the mushrooms were seriously so good and whatever they were on top of was delicious. Dessert is also included, and we all got the ice cream, which was very tasty. I wish so much a place like this existed where I live. Will highly recommend to anyone!

Party of 5 birthdays celebration. Such a cute ending with a candle in the soft serves. This was an amazing feast and I definitely gained some pounds that I haven't lost yet. the Salatim's were excellent and definitely a few favorites all around. Even happily separated out the nut dishes so our one nut allergy dude could eat without worry and we could still have all the dishes we dreamed of eating. Really enjoyed everything but definitely my favorite of the night was my Merguez sausage !!

What's not to love about Laser Wolf? This is a place you come to get fed. Your belly will leave full, too full. This was my first time visiting the Philly location, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Brooklyn has the views, but Philly brings the industrial vibes. I should have just ordered the salatim on its own (that glorious spread of hummus and dips can easily fill you up), but I always need to order meat. We went with the skirt steak shishlik and koobideh, and also tried the grilled halloumi - listen everything was so good it made my belly thrilled. Pace yourself with the salatim so you can enjoy the rest, such as the soft serve ice cream, which is a sweet bonus that's included for those who order from the grill. Service was wonderful. Heads up: street parking is tough, and reservations are absolutely necessary, not optional. Worth every bite!

Andrew Henshaw is the rockstar behind the helm at Laser Wolf and his crew are rocking here in Philly. They work in harmony and the dishes sing. Being a huge foodie, I haven't had a meal like this in a very long time. And what a feast it was. I was most excited for the Salatim (side dishes and dips). I could not get enough of the hummus in the middle, so creamy and delish with the soft warm pita breads. You can ask for refills for any of the Salatim dishes as well. This comes with an order of an entree which is good enough for one person portion-wise so I suggest you order one per person. For the mains we got the skirt steak, whole Dorade (fish) and eggplant. My son is a steak lover through and through so I couldn't believe my ears when he said he loved the eggplant more than the skirt steak. The eggplant came with these chunks of fried pickled tomatoes, I thought they were potatoes. Such a delicious surprise. They are laser-focused on every little detail in each of the dishes they serve. Side dish - I am a huge French fry kind of gal. My son asked why I didn't get the chicken wings instead and I said because they are famous for their fries here. Well, my son could not stop eating them. The tehina ketchup leveled up their golden fries. It had that perfect crisp. Addicting!! The highlight of the night had to be when one of the staff members presented us with the chicken wings..."we are gifting you with this dish". Such a wonderful gesture! Thank you!! We all loved it! The sauce was insane. We ended our meal with a choice of two flavored custards to choose from, apple a la mode and a pistachio one. Huge shoutout to our awesome waiter, Brendan D. He was bussin a handful of tables but still managed to go above and beyond. First time having Israeli food and it won't be the last. This place is a gem. Allow 2 hours to dine. Reservations are a must. Fun Fact: Laser Wolf is named after the butcher (Lazar Wolf) in "Fiddler On The Roof."

We ordered a whole branzino shared for two, Romanian beef kebab, salatim with fresh hummus, French fries with tehina ketchup, and brown sugar vanilla soft serve + cantaloupe sorbet. The presentation of the salatim was phenomenal! The menu was a bit misleading because we thought the salatim was included with the dessert as part of the "from the grill" option. I just wish it was clearly stated in the menu. I was truly blown away by the ice cream hahaha. The entrees were a bit pricey than I expected. If you go with a larger group, it's easier to split. Overall, I would come again and it was a good experience!

Best cuisine and dining experience of this year - my best friend and I enjoyed a truly remarkable dinner at Laser Wolf, seated at the chefs counter. Our server made the most memorable night with housemate ginger beer and harissa chicken wings. We indulged in Salatim, a colorful array of veggie sides bursting with flavor and nutrition! The merguez lamb sausage with tahini sauce was excellent. The eggplant entree was the star of the show - so good it could convince a carnivore to turn vegetarian/vegan! Thanks to Laser Wolf and Chef Michael Solomonov for truly phenomal Israeli cuisine - I loved dining at Zahav (15 years ago), and now Laser Wolf. Fun fact: Laser Wolf refers to Lazar Wolf (the butcher in Fiddler on the Roof Musical)

Wow we are SUPER FULL that was a lot of food -- all very good! We ordered the bbq short ribs and beef kebab dish, which is meant for two people, and we left with tons of leftovers and could not finish the dessert since we were soooooo full. The short ribs were quite juicy and they fell apart nicely. The kebabs were good too. Loved the warm pita and hummus. The brown sugar vanilla dessert was great too!

L-to-R: Wings, zero-proof + proof drinks, fries, salatim, cauliflower + rice, soft serve + pound cake.

From our first take-away during the COVID-19 pandemic to dining at a table to dining at the bar, every Laser Wolf experience is terrific. From the awesome salatim that starts off the meal (and changes slightly each time we dine) to the creamy soft serve ice cream that finishes it, I've enjoyed every meal. This time, we ordered fries, wings, and cauliflower, and everything was piping hot and delicious. Thank you for your always welcoming service! If/when we can finagle a reservation for more than 2, we've some friends/family we'd love to introduce!

Everything was SO GOOD! The restaurant is super cute and the food is even better. We ordered a bunch of different items in the menu. Everyone LOVED the wings and the lamb. We also devoured the hummus platter that comes out. Drink service was quick and our wine was kept full. Our server was super attentive and gives you a fine dining experience. We came for a combined birthday so they made us a dessert tray with shots at the end!

FANTASTIC experience -- just go!…read more The Lamb Fahsah was hearty and flavorful, served in a hot metal bowl with just the right proportions of shredded meat, veggies, and broth. Plus it came with FRESH pita bread HOT out of the oven -- slightly crisp outside, hot gooey inside. (Honestly, I think their pita texture and flavor surpassed a certain high-end Lebanese restaurant in Fishtown...) Decor is a tasteful modern pastiche of traditional middle eastern motifs. Overall vibe is relaxed, clean, and spacious. The only downside was having to pick just one thing from the menu, though staff were happy to help. One note: I think they're still getting off the ground, and I stood next to the "wait to be seated" sign for 5 minutes before getting frustrated and walking up to the bar guy. He was SUPER apologetic, as was my waiter, and they made it up to me with a free cup of chai tea -- plus a free refill at the end! On the chai tea: rich and fragrant spices, definitely spoiled me for the standard coffee shop version.

During my wife's and my time there, they never had an empty table that wasn't being quickly cleared for a waiting party, and we heard people assigned considerable waits when they tried to walk in. I give the benefit of the doubt that the hectic, holiday-adjacent nature of the day we went in contributed to us not receiving mugs for the tea pot we ordered or some of the longer waits between waitstaff visits. But the food and atmosphere? Through the roof. We were fortunate enough to have scored the coveted front window seating section, a luxuriously spacious and cushioned special seating option that only one party at a time can enjoy (all other seats are traditional chair-and-table arrangements), so we were especially high on the subject of atmosphere, but even had we not secured the ideal seating, I would have enjoyed the chill, evocative music coming from the restaurant's speakers. The food was the main event, of course, and it delivered. We started simple, with a hummus app. The humus was great and the flatbread really stood out - ideal density, great, light crispness to the outside, soft but at no risk of being too chewy or doughy on the inside. I ordered the salmon dish, which arrived in a big, black sizzling iron bowl. The salmon and tender little potato chunks were in a shakshuka-like red sauce and paired excellently with the plate of rice, fresh raisins, garlic slivers, and carrot bits that accompanied it. I honestly don't love raisins, but this was clearly a "have faith in the recipe" situation and I really enjoyed when they would assert themselves a bit against the sauce. My wife ordered a falafel salad platter, which she was kind enough to let me try; best falafel I've eaten in a good number of years, and she agreed (which means even more than my endorsement, since she falafel much more frequently than I do). I've eagerly recommended Malooga to friends and associates since and can't wait to get back and order some lamb!

Best Thing I Ever Ate: Hummus, Lamb Shoulder…read more This was my second visit to Zahav while visiting Philadelphia. I'm glad I had visited before because I knew the importance of pacing myself. I knew I could only enjoy a little knibble of each of the delicious salads that were initial placed on the table. I think I ate all the twice-cooked eggplant. It was so good! The hummus is honestly the best I've ever had, and the laffa bread is such a yummy accompaniment. I had to stop myself from eating too much! I tried the Phyllo-wrapped Haloumi. It was ok, but I liked my dad's Freekeh Arancini better. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder is the reason I had to pace myself. This is also one of my favorite lamb dishes that I've ever had. The greens are a nice accomaniment. I didn't care for the crispy rice, and it was the only thing I didn't like. I got the Pecan Konafe for dessert and it was like an exotic pecan pie. Love this! The honey ice cream was so refreshing after a big meal. I left very happy.

The second I knew I was visiting Philly, I set a reminder on my phone to vie for a reservation. We got a 9:30pm reservation, which was late for my usual dining habits but absolutely no question worth the extra few hours to build up and appetite and anticipate going to such a renowned restaurant. We were met with a beautiful dining room and kind, passionate people at Zahav, especially our bartenders, who made our experience a true EVENT, describing each dish to us even as we were making decisions on the tasting menu, and vouching for the fact that we MUST try the halloumi, which ended up being my favorite dish! Wow, the care that is put into the craft of this food is unreal. Zahav is a true celebration of cuisine. We started with the laffa bread being served straight out of the fire with accompaniments which were absolute flavor bombs, especially the eggplant and pickled cabbage. The bread was warm, soft, and so flavorful in itself but made even better by the hummus-tehina, which was perhaps the smoothest I've ever had. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder fell right off the bone, and the Amba-braised Greens and Crispy Persian Rice were side dishes that felt like main events in themselves -- the crispiness of the rice perfectly complemented the pomegranate sauce of the lamb. This was the perfect celebration dinner, and Zahav quickly made it to the top of my list of places that live up to their hype and go above and beyond in the kindness realm.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much; in fact, it looks like a bit of a dive from outside. But when you walk in, you are transported. The design of the restaurant is so special - community tables, pillows, tapestries, waterfall features, tiles, and belly dancing. The food was a little inconsistent. We shared many dishes: Bastilla (baked layers of filo dough, eggs, chicken, almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar); hummus (chickpeas, tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, served with pita bread); Spanakopita; salad trio (eggplant salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and carrot salad); lamb tagine (stew of lamb, onions, and roasted peppers topped with honey and served with rice); Moroccan chicken with harissa cumin sauce; mujaddara (cracked bulgur wheat cooked with lentils and caramelized onions); and mint tea. I wish they didn't serve bottled waters, and the food was mostly good but not the most consistent. Our mujaddara wasn't served with the yogurt sauce listed on the menu, and the lamb with the tagine was incredibly fatty, making some of it inedible. The mint tea was really really really sweet - like syrup! I also wish the bastilla had a little less powdered sugar (I like on the dish, but it was A LOT of powdered sugar), and it was quite dry. But the eggplant salad, carrot salad, hummus, and mujaddara (even without the yogurt sauce) were great. I would happily have eaten just those dishes. They were busy - it's a popular place - but service was also a challenge. It took us almost a half hour to get the check and pay. I had to ask for the bill twice and then it still took a while to get it, for it to get picked up, and for it to come back to us. It's pretty bad if I'm considering walking up to the bar to get the check and pay. I loved the ambiance and the character. I loved that you can't tell how amazing it's going to be inside when you see the outside of the building - it's a surprise for sure. Our experience was that the food was a bit inconsistent, but it certainly was a fun meal.
