I needed to update my review. It's been more than two years ordering from this place. And the food has gotten better and I believe they now deserve a five star. I love their lamb Haneeth. The vegetables are perfect, especially when they add okra in it. Always tender and well seasoned. Authentic Yemeni food. It was hands down the best meal I've had in a long while. After we ordered they brought out a crunchy meaty pastry with a salsa dip ( don't know the specific name ) it was crunchy and flaky and just perfect. We ordered a lamb and rice dish that was cooked perfectly. It was soft and paired very well with the rice that was a bit crispy on the bottom. We also ordered a slow cooked beef in a little pot ( excuse me but I don't know the exact names of these dishes) it was possibly the best slow cooked beef I ever had to which paired so nicely with the flat bread that I couldn't stop dipping and scooping that beef with. I tried the salta here -- and it was great -- but the lamb Fahsa? Oh my god. Absolutely incredible. Perfectly seasoned, rich, and so filling. The bread portion was exactly what it should be: generous enough to fully enjoy the dish the way it's meant to be eaten. As a non-Yemeni Middle Easterner, this was my first real experience with Yemeni food, and I was blown away. I was so impressed that I later tried a Fahsa at another Yemeni spot just to compare -- and it wasn't even close to what I had here. There are numerous Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants in this area, many of them very good, but none of them do things the way Hadramout does. This is a Yemeni restaurant that's pretty nondescript on the outside (and the inside too honestly), but with amazingly-cooked and unique food that's both adventurous yet comforting. The lamb dishes are real highlights, with the lamb haneeth consisting of a sizable portion of tender bone-in meat with rice and braised veggies, and the fasah being a sizzling flavorful stew served with a GIANT flatbread for you to wipe up every last drop. The lamb barely even tasted gamey, but if lamb's not your thing, the chicken mandi is an entire half chicken that's just as tender as the lamb haneeth while still coming with the same accompaniments. We also ordered samboosas (their version of samosas) but ate them so fast I can't really comment on them, and our food came with a VERY spicy salsa-like sauce that's nice for acidity if you can handle the heat. Everything is very affordably priced, especially considering the large portions and the quality of the lamb. We shared all of the pictured dishes for a table of three and had a good amount of one entree left to take home. The service was a bit slow and spotty on this occasion since it was pretty busy and only had one server working who wasn't too fluent in English; our table had ordered a tea that didn't come and we asked to get it taken off the check with no issues. I still found the meal outstanding and personally wasn't too bothered; perhaps come here when you have a lot to chat about with your table and not for a quick bite. My friends and I came here for a weekly dinner one night. We have all heard good things from this hole in the wall restaurant. This is my first time trying Yemani food! We each got Samboosa to try which is a flaky pastry with meat and cheese. The sauce that came with it had a kick to it. For my entree I got the Chicken mandi. Its a big piece of chicken on a bed of spiced rice and veggies. Delicious! The chicken was fall off the bone and the spices were on point. We enjoyed our meal and the prices weren't bad at all! Overall, that was a 3 star for me as I felt the rice wasn't very well seasoned, and the chicken was a little dry, as well as the price/value. Yesterday I opted to try the Chicken Mandi w/ rice which is listed at $13.99 but charged $14.99 on the receipt, seems like an outdated menu. The rice was the same, but man is that chicken good and what a portion! I love the seasoning, and the chicken literally falls off the bone. I also enjoyed the samboosa $1.5 and my Yemeni tea for $1. Hadramout doesn't look like much when you walk in - but if you're looking for some good homecooked Yemeni food, look no further. Just how I like it. Samboosa: When ordering you have the option of having it oil or ghee fried. I selected to have it fried in ghee. We went for a meal at Hadramout. In general, I found the food okay but disappointingly bland. This was my first time trying Yemeni cuisine so I'm not sure if this is a feature of the cuisine in general or Hadramout in particular. Saltah stew: comforting, with some interesting flavours, 3.5 stars Grilled whole chicken: freshly grilled, which was nice. The dark meat & skin had some flavours from the spices, but the breast meat had little flavour. It was better with garlic sauce. Bread was freshly baked and fluffy, 3+ stars Lamb haneeth: kind of stringy and bland. The accompanying rice & boiled potatoes/carrots were also not flavourful. I wouldn't recommend this dish unless you're looking for bland, 2 stars Service was friendly but it was very difficult to get the staff's attention. They'd be moving around serving other tables or standing at the back, but took forever to notice when we were trying to wave or get their attention. It might help if they'd scan the tables once in a while. read more

The lamb haneeth. It's popular for a reason. Can easily get two meals out of it. Amazing flavor and juicy.

The rumors are true: the food is excellent! What's also true is that I haven't had such a huge food baby in a while, along with another 1.5 meals worth of leftovers. (I have no regrets) This is definitely not a place that skimps on portions, starting with the gigantic clay oven baked bread. The bread was freshly baked and delicious, and was included in my order of Fahsah (stewed shredded lamb). Extra bread can also be ordered separately for $2. The stewed lamb was very tender and served bubbling hot in a clay pot that kept it warm through my entire meal. Combined with the soft, warm bread, it was an amazing combination. The Lamb Haneeth consists of slow-roated lamb, rice, and mixed veggies. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender and fell right off the bone. The veggies were beautifully seasoned and went very well with the rice and lamb. It was definitely one of the better-prepared lamb dishes I've had in a while. Service is friendly and pricing is fair. Not a home run but not bad. The fahsah was not for me. There were crunchy bits in it that bugged me out- tasted like crushed shells. Overall, reasonably good food for a reasonable price with friendly staff. We were 4 and had 4 dishes to try every kind of meat (lamb, beef, chicken, fish). I hate the taste of lamb, but that was by far our favorite dish - it was savory and perfect with the bread. Oh and the bread.... I love the warm soft portions that taste good with any dish! The Yemini Kofta is pretty dry, our least favorite, but did better with the hot sauce they provided. The fish has bones, so if you're not talented with a fork and spoon, the best option is your fingers! We ordered the Fahsah -- a lamb stew -- that was accompanied by a piece of bread (like naan) the size of a large pizza, as well as the Lamb Kabobs. I absolutely loved both of them and recommend them! The lamb kabobs were so flavorful and juicy while the fahsah was filling and tasty. I loved our servers too! Very kind and hospitable. The only downside ... is paying for water. I forgot to take the picture but this place was an amazing place. It had so much flavor and I've been thinking of coming back ever since I came here with a friend after church. Whatever you do, get the lamb fahsa! It was a lamb stew that came with the hugest bread that I've seen. The bread to dip was light and airy and a perfect balance with the lamb dish. It was cooked to perfection without being too salty. This was the very first time I tried this dish and I'm hooked. We also tried the soup which was very nice as well that came with a spritz if citrus, very yummy. Finally, we tried the roasted chicken- it was a little dry and a little underwhelming.
