Philly cheesesteak

I've been coming to Saad's for the past 10 years, and the quality has always been consistent. I've never had a bad experience here--the Philly cheesesteaks are absolutely mouthwatering. I've tried many other cheesesteak spots, but I always compare them to Saad's. Love, love, love this place!

In Philadelphia, this spot truly feels like a hidden gem. Whenever I visit the City of Brotherly Love, I make it a point to stop by for their Chicken Maroush sandwich--it's one of my favorites. The vibe here is more like a fast-casual joint, and there's always a line, so don't expect to grab a seat until someone leaves. It's busy, it's lively, and definitely no-frills. While the Maroush is good, I'd actually recommend coming here for other items, like their cheesesteaks--they really stand out. The service might not be polished, but the staff is genuinely helpful and accommodating, even during the rush.

Best place for halal philly cheesesteaks and chicken marroush sandwich. The burgers are great too. The place was fully renovated during the COVID lockdown with new tables and chairs while creating more space in the restaurant. Saad, the owner, is a down to earth chef and manager who takes great care of customers.

Can't believe I never left a review for this spot because everytime I've had it, it slaps. There's a reason Saads is a must visit whenever people come to visit Philly or have the privilege of being local. First off, staff are super nice. Secondly, the portions are HUGE. And thirdly and most importantly, the food is AMAZING. The chicken maroosh is a must get. Huge chunks of juicy seasoned chicken, fresh tomatoes and pickles, an addicting white sauce and fantastic crunchy yet plush bread. You cannot go wrong. The Philly cheesesteak is cheesy, packed with meat and super flavorful. I've wanted to try their other items too but I can't help but default to getting these two sandwiches because they're just too damn good.

My family & I have been coming here for quite a few years now. I make the drive out from NYC at least once or twice a year. The meat is always soft & delicious, their cheesesteaks & all other food is halal which is beautiful. The chicken Maroosh is one delicious sandwich. Fries & onion rings are also awesome. No matter how busy they are the service is always great. They do their best to not mess up an order & attentively write down your order exactly how you asked for it. Inside the ambiance is like that of a fast-casual joint. It's very clean & organized. I highly recommend this spot if you want delicious halal cheesesteaks.

Saad's never misses! This is a solid, authentic Halal spot that speaks directly to your soul. The Maroosh is packed to the brim with flavor and leaves you full and satisfied. My favorite part of the sandwich is the bread. How can you get bread tasting so fresh and crisp? The fries are your classic frozen fries--which I could skip. The restaurant's tables were mostly full, and it's clear why. This is your classic neighborhood restaurant; a Philadelphian classic, if you will.

Saad's is usually one of the best halal places in West Philadelphia. This time, I was slightly disappointed. We ordered our food up front and waited a bit for our food to come out. We got a baba ganoush, chicken maroosh, and hummus. The baba ganoush had a lot of oil but still tasted really good. It wasn't the best baba ganoush in the city but it definitely hit the spot. I really liked how the baba ganoush was very smoky tasting. The chicken maroosh had too much thick chicken pieces which ruined the sandwich. I really liked the grill lines on the bread. I also liked the pickles and sauce on the sandwich. The place has sriracha on the counter which really added to the sandwich. There was a lady present who also helped us packed our food when we couldn't finish it all.

This place was packed from the second I walked in until the moment I left. Service is really quick and the staff are very friendly. Food was so flavorful and delicious, and a lot of food for the order too. I had a great experience here!

This is hands down my favorite sandwich spot of all time! It really can't get better than this. I got their famous chicken Maroosh and it was perfection. They toast their bread on a panini press which results in a super crunchy exterior. Their chicken Maroosh comes with a generous heap of creamy garlicky white sauce that pairs incredibly well with the chicken. Every bite of this sandwich is well balanced with some freshness from the tomato, pickle, and parsley! They really don't skimp on the parsley as a topping. They're super generous with the amount of parsley that they put to the point where you can actually taste the fragrance of the parsley. I am blown away by how good this sandwich is and will definitely be back to try their cheesesteaks as well! If you like things spicy, the waitresses will give you some sriracha to top your sandwiches with. If you decide to dine in, you wouldn't have to pick up your order yourself as the waitresses will bring your food to your table. They're super attentive and if they notice that you're sharing the food, they will bring you extra plates, fork, and napkins. The interior has many comfortable booths where you can sit down to enjoy your sandwich. TIP: this spot is cash only so be prepared to bring some cash. If you forgot to bring cash, they also have an ATM in their restaurant which is super convenient.

Saad's is still as good as it was when I was first eating there as a college student. I've since moved further away, but that has only grown my appreciation for how special of a place it is. It really captures the best of Philly, from its generous sandwiches and cheesesteaks to the vibrant diversity brought by its immigrants. Also because I moved away, I've been partaking in dining in when I visit. You order at the counter and pay, and a worker brings your food to you along with utensils and fixings like ketchup and hot sauce. The service and old-fashioned interior really give it comforting American diner vibes. The chicken maroosh is still the king, and I almost always order that and a side of their especially crispy fries to share with my partner. It's only $22 and fills both of us up. In a city of sandwiches, I maintain that the chicken maroosh is the best sandwich around.

Top tier of Philly cheesesteaks. Hoagie bread texture stellar and love their garlic sauce

Came here on a Friday night and it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be. I got the classic cheesesteak and asked for less mayonnaise which was accommodated for. I tried the beef kofta platter. The meat is a bit dry but accompanied by two sides and the classic Saad's sauce, this can be fixed! Upon reflection, I do appreciate how Saad's portions are big and there's a variety in the menu.

Had a short visit in Philly for a work-related meeting/conference. Craving a philly cheese steak, but wanted something more modern as I heard the classic original philly's were overhyped. So I decided to grab a philly steak from Saad's as well as a lamb shawarma. Definitely worth it. The place was packed and I could imagine it is like this on the regular. Service was great, very friendly staff. The cheesesteak had a 20-30 min prep time, but perfectly reasonable as the line was long and the hoagies were made fresh to order. The lamb shawarma was packed with big chunks of well seasoned lamb, and fresh veggies. I was stuffed by the time I left the place and had plenty of leftovers for later. I would highly recommend this place to all foodies and cheesesteak lovers.

Amazing Philly cheese steak sandwich. I was there in December 2025. Always full, but service is quick. Must try.

A few additional cookies tossed in our delivery for free, made it feel like a better value since we had some leftover to enjoy with morning coffee. Anticipated a long wait given the time & day, but a friendly face handed them to us in less time than Domino's. The Deluxe cookies were a treat w/ the peanut butter varieties a fav, but ALL the cookies, including the ones I didn't pick, were delicious. A little annoying the upcharges for deluxe varieties when I thought that was the point of picking an option that includes them, but the additional free cookies helped soften that. After we finished, they handed us a whole box of cookies just for hanging out and giving feedback. That was a solid surprise and super generous. I swing by Insomnia Cookies on random days too because sometimes you just need a warm cookie to reset your mood. They always come out soft, gooey, and fresh from the oven. The store itself is clean and kind of cool to look at. There's a whole wall covered in giant industrial-style on and off switches. I still wish I could have pulled one just to see what would happen. Staff was chill and genuinely helpful. They were patient while we tried to figure out which cookie was which during the ranking, and they kept the energy light and fun. Same when they handed out the free boxes. Whoever runs the HQ location clearly knows how to make the experience feel special.

We ordered the crispy cheese curds (Wisconsin cheddar, smoked guajillo salsa, and charred scallion ranch). These were a unique take on the classic and I was here for it, definitely try these! I then had the wedge salad (blue cheese, nueske's bacon, cherry tomatoes, radish, pepitas, crispy onions, and thai basil goddess). There were no tomatoes on ours, and so we were given sliced avocado instead. This was an interesting attempt but not my favorite take on this dish, I probably would not get this again. However, the shrimp po boy buns came through to round off this meal! (crispy shrimp, smoky aioli, house made choppy chop, dill on two buttered potato rolls.) These were fantastic and absolutely fire. NOTE they are tiny, almost appetizer sized, which didnt bother me because after the salad and cheese curds I was feeling full already but I would go back and get two orders just for myself they were that good. All in all a great place, I recommend!
