My husband enjoyed having breakfast at the Side Eye bar one morning and insisted we come back for dinner. Pleasant greeting when we arrived and our server Caesar (sp?) was very helpful. Especially loved the juicy Burger and thick French Onion Soup! Nice interior with fun artwork. Especially liked the "side eyed" dog pictures. Please note: As it gets later the place gets darker and the music gets louder! Would have given 5 stars, but negatives for us were the bass pounding music and the few dinner selections. FYI, We were there at 6 pm & we were far older than everyone in the packed restaurant:)

Tried a whole bunch of things and then ended up having to split the burger which was the whole point of going because I was so full. We all shared the grilled bread & chicken liver mousse with a fresh grape chutney of sorts. It gave me The Dandelion Pub - chicken liver parfait vibes - which is my fave in the city. But this was good too. It would be perfect with Cornichons.! Sweet from the grape, smooth from the pate mousse; and zesty from the gherkin, all in one plate. Well anyways. Then had beef tartar with a butter cracker. Ritz-esque. Side of salted fries of course which is a great accompaniment to the future burgers coming too. We got the peppered burgers with Camembert. And then I just had to get the French onion soup with veal stock and a fun cheddary biscuit type topping

We stopped into a new restaurant this weekend to have a warm drink and get out of the cold. We were greeted immediately and I was impressed by both the genuine warmth of the staff as well as the gorgeous vibe of the place! This has a great bistro feel and the massive and gorgeous bar is a sight to behold. I also loved the shade of blue on the brick wall....it was so soothing and mellow which made it perfect for a lazy Saturday. My friends and I ordered a couple of Hot Penicillin drinks and they were right on target...warm and citrusy with a nice honey finish. I checked out the menu and if I hadn't just had a cheesesteak, the croque madame would have been my choice. The food I saw pass by looked great. I definitely recommend giving this place a try....it's always nice to support new small businesses and this restaurant seems like a real gem.

Quaint French bistro feel. Service was excellent. We had French onion soup, leeks vinaigrette & shared the half chicken. Asked for bread to dip into the juices. Ordered a French organic red from a small vineyard they had on the menu. Would go back to try some of the other items. Pretty limited items on the menu.

Had such a fun time at Side Eye! Everyone I interacted with staff wise was so friendly and helpful (Abbey, Ryan and I think Michelle). Very cute inside very reasonably priced for the area, and the food was great some of the best deviled eggs! I don't usually like steak fried but they PIPPIN hot and delicious and the soup was perfect . Espresso Martini and whatever the random cocktail the bartender made me was terrific and definitely did the job. It gets very busy, so try to get in early.

Had a reservation and seated immediately. Busy on a Wednesday night which was great to see. The space is beautiful. The low lighting and details make the space intimate and friendly. Would be a great spot for a date night or girls night. The service was attentive and friendly. Our server gave great recommendations and checked on us throughout the night. Every bite was SO GOOD. The burger 10/10. And for $13!?! Yes please. The fries are a wedge cut and cooked to perfection. Crispy outside and fluffy inside. The bread and butter is also way too good. I could have had the whole thing to myself. Everything seemed extremely reasonably priced and a great value. Would make it an easy yes to come back!

super yummy triple-cooked wedge fries. i didn't like the caesar salad that much bc 2/3 of it was comprised of shredded cabbage. peppercorn aoili burger with camembert and beer tartare with beef fat saltines were both unique but just okay 4 me. great ambiance sitting outside and great service

Decided to check this place out because the menu looked really good and the prices seemed fair. My friend and I were absolutely blown away by the depth of flavor in the dishes we tried. Everything tasted SO DELICIOUS. There are not many restaurants that I would return for a second time but I definitely will recommend coming here and will be coming back myself.

Loved the atmosphere at the long, welcoming bar. Best Espresso Martini, I've ever had! Will be returning

This might be my favorite bar in Philly yet! It's so quaint, sophisticated but not pretentious…read more Casual attire (we showed up after a tennis match and didn't get one side eye!Other patrons also wore cute/ smart casual fits!) The bartenders were so nice, speedy, and knowledgeable! They patiently explained to us the differences among some drinks and provided great recs based on our preferences! The customers/ patrons that are drawn to Grace and Proper are what make this place shine! We had a full dating intervention with strangers (we asked them for advice!) and it was so fun! This is the kind of place that makes you believe in humanity and whimsical connections again! The lighting indoors can be VERY dim as we were there around sunset. I think a few dim bulbs in the corner would still carry the vibe but make it less dark. We all had different kinds of cocktails and love the presentation and creative recipes! Will revisit more often!

Our favorite spot in Philly!…read more My husband claims that Claude AI recommended this place. We absolutely loved it! The entrance is so charming. With potted flowers all over the restaurant. Smattering of patio tables on both Eighth Street and Carpenter. When I saw it, I said yes before even looking at the menu. We ordered drinks at the bar and took them outside. It's very chic but also casual. There were mostly pairs or trios - no families. Not th. We saw people ordering a little bit of everything. Honestly, the menu looked great! The kale Caesar salad, the piri piri buffalo chicken dip, bacon wrapped plums, etc. The drinks were the best we had on our Philly trip! The Spanish Monk which had gin, lemon juice, frothed egg white and smoked paprika. I had the GGG which they carried over from their old menu. Can't remember what was in it but she said it was similar to Bee's Knees which is one of my favorite! There's self service still water and sparkling water in the back of the restaurant. Perfectly chilled. Perfectly bubbled! Such a lovely spot!
