    Eggplant Focaccia Pie
    Elizabeth M.

This was my first time in the space since it switched from Flannel to DaVinci & Yu, and I was impressed! We split three dishes and were satisfied, with even some leftovers. The first dish to come out was the Caprese Fresh Roll (burrata, Thai basil, roasted tomatoes in rice paper wrap with a balsamic-soy glaze for dipping). The dipping sauce was sooo delicious! Next came the Eggplant Focaccia Pie (breaded & fried eggplant over chopped spinach, fontina cheese, roasted garlic, and agrodolce pepper-drops) which was also really yummy. Finally came the Cacio E Pepe E Miso (pecorino-romano, chitarra pasta, sichuan pepper, dandelion miso, heavy cream, and nori). Don't be intimidated by the sichuan pepper on the menu - it wasn't spicy! Overall it was a great meal. Now I just have to come back to try the Ube Espresso Martini (which I saw someone order near me and stared at longingly as it passed by my table).

I love this place. I love the whimsy of the interior with the bright colors and disco ball and the bar that feels intimate. I also love the very curated cocktail list that Bee the bartender has developed. The happy hour selection is so good and the bar is friendly with new comers and regulars. They have great happy hour bites (bao buns, meat balls and delicious snacks) but oh my gosh. The wagyu beef smash burger is unbelievable. And this past visit, my daughter ordered the wagyu burger with the fried Mac n cheese. I can't tell you how this hits. Cheesy, gooey, beefy and seasoned to perfection. This place has creative drinks, a creative menu and a welcoming staff with a sweet spot for a drink. You should come here. (Also! An ube espresso martini? So good!)

Food: Limited menu, but packed with bold, creative flavors. Favorites: Adobo stinco (fall-off-the-bone, full of flavor) and orange chicken parm (crispy and satisfying). The kimchi flatbread and fried shishito peppers were solid starters. Korean-style brisket and cacio e pepe e miso were just okay -- not as memorable as the other dishes. Ube espresso martini was good, but not a must-try. Service: Friendly and attentive. Staff was helpful with recommendations and kept everything moving at a good pace. Ambiance: Casual and laid-back with a modern touch. It still feels cozy and neighborhood-focused, honoring the vibe of the old Flannel spot but with a fresher twist

I love the color of this drinks. It was made fine. I would've preferred sweeter but it was appropriately stiff and well done. It didn't occur to me that dinner food might not be available yet and I ended up only having a drink. Maybe another time I will try some food. Nice staff here.

We went to DaVinci and Yu on a Saturday night and completely fell in love. We booked one of the last reservations of the night but were able to be seated about 20 mins before our reservation which was a great first impression. We'd been to Flannel before and were completely blown away by how different and ambient it looked inside the dining room. You almost don't even realize there used to be a campfire theme in there! We did the restaurant week menu plus the shrimp toast because we couldn't pass it up. The shrimp toast was probably the best bite of the night. We couldn't believe how enormous the caesar salad was or how crispy the chicken bao were. Let me tell you about the Italian wedding ramen. The broth was thick and savory, the noodles had the perfect bite, and there were so many fun and tasty additions: meatballs, brisket, rice cakes, etc. Since our reservation was so late we were basically closing the place up. But we weren't rushed or anything. The only downside is that they ran out of the black sesame tiramisu and cannoli since it was literally the end of the night. We did expect this to happen, and they graciously got us two flan instead even though it wasn't part of the restaurant week options. We WILL be back. Excellent service, super fun food that's not gimmicky at all and backed by flavor, and overall a great concept.

When I tell you, Davinci and Yu had my taste buds in a flavor adventure. A mix of Italian dishes mixed with asian influences was simply divine. The cocktails and drinks were like liquid dessert and the food was savory and flavorful! The orange chicken parm and Kung Pao Boa were crispy, fresh, and packed with taste! Would def come back and bring my girlfriends and fun auntie so experience the fun of Davinci and Yu!

    Cacio e oepe e miso

Wow, really enjoyed the Italian/Asian flavor mash-ups. The dishes featured delicious, bright, surprising tantalizing tastes that were complementary and well blended despite feeling shockingly new. Starting out with a cocktail, i loved the Thai martini- it had lightly sweet ginger flavors tempered with a salty finish that was very enjoyable. We had the Caprese fresh rolls (wrapped in fresh basil leaves), and brisket bao as appetizers- all amazing! The brisket bao was particularly sensational, with flavors of horseradish and cole slaw. As my main dish, I liked the Cacio e pepe e miso- the nori somehow gave it a wonderful fine-grit shellfish flavor that was subtle but spectacular. My wife's grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and was very good, though not as unique as the other dishes. We topped off the evening by sharing an ube tiramisu. The room is also very nice with wall murals. Service was friendly and good, though we had to ask for individual plates for our appetizers, and the decaf espresso wasn't actually prepared as an espresso. All in all, I thought this was a spectacular dining experience.

Impressed. My date had orange cosmo, and Ramen. She was all smiles so you know what that means . The orange chicken was a delight, I suggested that bring wings back on menu as well.

    Espresso Martini

Best espresso martini ever!! This restaurant was recently rebranded as an italian/asian food restaurant and their new menu is amazing. Definitely my favorite spot on Passyunk Ave!

    Kung Pao Bao

Very interesting! The arancini-crispy rice and Kung Pao Bao were favorites. Eggplant pizza is more like a flatbread but delicious. Cocktails featured Japanese whiskey and yuzu as well as limoncello and Prosecco. Service was attentive (thanks, Jamie!). Could upgrade glassware to glass to go with the more upscale vibe. Overall, worth checking out!

    Sea urchin pasta

The concept of this place is very interesting being asian Italian fusion. The fusion was definitely there and the dishes were very unique. I went opening weekend and it seemed like they were still working out some of the recipes - a bit bland. The desserts however were great. Unique asian twists on classic Italian staples. The service was also very friendly.

I come here for happy hour every now and then because the prices are really great, and both the food and drinks are delicious. We started with the specialty cocktail and the Thai Punch, and both were really good. They had fruity undertones, and the alcohol wasn't overpowering at all -- I could easily have a few of these. For food, we got a few orders of the kung pao chicken wings. They were perfectly crispy with a really flavorful glaze. The portion size was also very generous, especially for the happy hour price. These are a great example of Asian-style fried chicken wings done right. I definitely want to come back and try their full dinner menu since I've only been here for happy hour so far. Luckily, it's not too far from where I live in the city, so I'll definitely be back!

This time our server explained the tasting course, but we decided to order a la carte. A refreshing Ming Mule came out first and it was just what I needed after being inside of a stadium on a 100 degree day. We also ordered an order of the pork bao which was so tasty. You can never go wrong with a pork belly appetizer and each order comes with two. The shrimp pad Thai had all the flavors you expect from a classic pad Thai but with their own twist. The Szechuan chicken was crispy and had sweet notes. Definitely two great picks. Opted out from dessert because we were so stuffed but they have a great ice cream cone option if you are in the mood.

Left 25 minutes later than planned. [Fast forward: the guy next to us was wearing a full suit.] We arrived at 5:30 and were told the wait for a walk-in was 20 minutes, so we went to Graffiti Bar next door. P wanted a marg, which was not on the cocktail menu, so the bartender asked what kind of tequila. P said Patrón. We started our happy hour evening with $45 cocktails. The wait was actually only 10 minutes, but they give you a 10-minute grace period once they text you, so we had to chug nevertheless. There is a pipe that says "warm" as you walk in. Touch at your own risk. Now at Double Knot. We ordered the tuna roll and salmon rolls. Good, but not that good. J wanted the yaki soba and liked it. P liked the pork potstickers. J ordered a Sapporo and an argument ensued about how to pronounce "a" in Japanese and/or other Asian languages. A professional woman once scolded J for mispronouncing Wang. We then played odds to determine whether J would turn his Sapporo into a sake bomb using P's sake. Both guessed 5. The sake did in fact "bomb," erupting all over the table and causing a scene. The wait staff did not notice because the ambiance, while "lit," is actually pretty dark. Coast clear. For revenge, we played odds again. P lost and was forced to put soy sauce in her sake and chug it. She took it like a champ. The waitress complimented P's top as we left. Margs at the pourover bar next door: $45. Rolls at Double Knot happy hour: $8. A compliment on a $3.69 top after arriving 36 minutes later than planned: priceless. 7/10.

His level of service definitely added to the experience. Drinks: We started with the Honor cocktail, which was citrusy, refreshing, and a nice way to start the evening. Later, I ordered the lychee martini, one of my favorites, and it was just as good as I remembered. Food: For appetizers, we shared the tuna tartare spring rolls, yellowtail sashimi, and shrimp dumplings. The tuna tartare spring rolls and yellowtail were both very good and flavorful. The shrimp dumplings, however, were just okay and didn't really stand out. We've had better elsewhere. For our mains, I ordered the miso cod and crab fried rice, and both were absolutely delicious. The miso cod was flavorful and satisfying, and the crab fried rice was one of the highlights of the meal. Both brought back the flavors I remembered from our past visits. Hubby ordered the wok cashew chicken, which he found just okay and not particularly memorable. Overall: A very good dining experience, but not everything was a home run. The service was outstanding, and the miso cod, crab fried rice, and lychee martini were the highlights for me. A couple of the dishes were less impressive, especially considering the prices. Still, it was great to revisit Buddakan in Philly. There are several other dishes I'd like to try, so I'm looking forward to another dinner here.

Their excellent service really elevated the entire experience. What We Ordered - -SouthGate Citywide - Good. A refreshing drink that paired well with the food. -$1 Wings - Excellent value. The wings were crispy, cooked consistently, and had great flavor. We tried both the soy and spicy sauces, and both were delicious. -Sotteok-Sotteok - Unfortunately, this was the only disappointing item. The rice cakes were noticeably undercooked, and the Japanese sausages tasted like standard store bought varieties. Considering the wait time and the price, this dish didn't live up to expectations. Final Thoughts - While one of the food items missed the mark, everything else about the experience was excellent. The atmosphere was fun, the wings were a great value, and the service was outstanding. Honestly, just the interactions we had with our servers alone would be enough reason for me to come back. I'd happily return for the drinks, the wings, and to try more of the menu.
