My townhome went through a big restoration due to water damage and in the process I had a list of out-of-pocket upgrades I wanted done; the closet door in the hallway was one of the items on my list. I had already spoken to two other carpenters about this project and another barn door company but a web search pulled SoCal Barn Doors. After reading the info on SoCal Barn Doors website and Yelp reviews, I decided to call and schedule an appointment. Tony (the owner), was on time for the appointment; took the time to talk to me about the barn door I had in mind; about the different options; and, address my concerns, e.g., if they would be able to get a 60" door in through my front door, 3.5ft x 5ft entryway, and up a flight of stairs with a tight turnaround...YES!... which was exactly what I needed to hear! He took the measurements and let me know I'd receive the quote with all the specifics via email later that day. I had *more* questions when I received the quote and Tony was super responsive via email, answering all my questions and making any necessary adjustments. There was a lot of emails back and forth mainly because I was indecisive about the door I wanted and the color. Because of this, *I* set the production back a little...lol. I finally decided to stick with the original slab door I had in mind but wanted to color match it to my floor. (Tony advised during the initial appointment that color match is not always exact.) Angela, SoCal's admin support, worked with me over email on some of my door concerns and to schedule an appointment to drop off a piece of my flooring. When I brought my piece of flooring, Tony walked me through the wood that would be used and the staining process. Because I had LVP flooring, he advised again that the color may not be exact since LVP isn't wood. For some reason, I was ok with that and felt it was going to turn out fine. After this decision was finalized, production moved forward and my door was finished within the estimated 6-8 week time frame! Jude and Brandon delivered and installed the door. When they were bringing it up the stairs, I was beyond pleased with how the color turned out! Brandon let me know that he and Tony worked on the door and Tony really mixed with the color to get it close to matching my floor. The gloss coat was just enough to set it apart from the floor which makes such a nice contrast! I *love* it! I am so glad I chose SoCal Barn Doors for this project. Their price is comparable and the quality and workmanship is above board. What I appreciated most was their professionalism, responsiveness, and customer service which is so hard to find these days. Thank you Tony, Angela, Jude, and Brandon!!!

*TLDR* Friendly. Professional. Customer focused. Highly recommend. *Price Quote Process* I contacted 4 businesses for a quote on my barn door project. Tony at Socal Barn Doors was the quickest to reply back and by far the friendliest and most attentive. He came out to my place within a few days and we had a good conversation where he explained to me all my options and answered all my questions. He had a clear, well-written estimate ready the next day. His pricing was also better than the others. *Build Process* After agreeing on the specifics, I paid 50% up front. Overall, it took longer to get it to a point where I could review the work than initially estimated, but not unreasonably so. I requested a door design that was less common. And this is custom work, all done by hand, not assembly lines so issues can come up. What was important was their willingness and ingenuity in finding solutions to make sure I was going to be happy with the final product. When I first reviewed the doors, I wasn't really happy with how the stain came out. It wasn't that even and the sheen was too shiny. We brain-stormed some options together and in the end, they chose to sand everything down and redo all the finish to make it perfect. What more can you ask for? *Install Process* There's a lot of work involved in installing these doors! They ran into some unforeseen fitment issues, but quickly came up with effective solutions. At the end of the day they had it installed perfectly and it all looked just as I had envisioned! The only thing that was less than perfect was that after they left I realized that all the walking around they'd done on my rug had left it with major dirt tracks all over. I had to get a carpet cleaner to fix it. Maybe they just forgot that they should've covered the area, easy fix for future. *Overall* I'm extremely happy with how it all turned out because it's exactly how I had envisioned it. It's not often that I've been able to imagine a grand idea/design and see it brought to life exactly as I'd hoped. Their attitude, professionalism and craftsmanship are top-notch. I'd say the only areas for improvement are paying extra attention to leaving client homes as clean as possible, and being a little quicker in responding back once the work actually starts. They're juggling multiple projects at once, not standing around looking at their phones, so it's understandable. But sometimes I had to hit them up multiple times to get a response after a day or two.
These doors are so stunning and so well made! I have zero regrets! I know we'll have these in our home forever.

I do not usually provide reviews, can't find the time. But Tony and SoCal Barn Doors (Knew Him, them as Derwoods Woodworks) I felt compelled and had to make the time. I wish I could give 10 stars. 1) We wanted to create an office space (out of the formal living room downstairs that wasn't getting used much). 2) We also wanted to convert the den area upstairs into a (guest) room. We decided to go with the barn doors for the ease, flexibility it provided and the appeal that it had. We approached 3 other businesses and got bids before deciding to work with Tony (And my Wife and I absolutely glad we did). This has been one of the most positive experiences ever we have had on a home improvement project in every which way in over 20 years! You can't go wrong w/ Tony. He is an awesome guy, very personable, took a personal interest, investment in, complete involvement with my project as if this was the only project He has and is working on (though I know that is not the case and that He is super busy). I found that He enjoyed the process, took great pride in His work and is very passionate about and dedicated to His craft with careful attention to detail and a problem solving mindset. He made sure you are happy, completely satisfied with the end product, will do whatever it takes to make sure He meets, exceeds your expectations. From the start to the finish Tony was awesome to work with. My wife and I are very happy with the product He delivered and the Job He did. I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Tony for any Barndoor project you can imagine, envision for your home, business.
We are very happy with the results of our bathroom doors! They match our cabinet style perfectly. When we measured incorrectly, they were super accommodating and fixed the order quickly. The reason I am giving only four stars instead of five is because I have to repaint a dent that was put in the wall during install, and I have to clean the black fingerprints off the ceiling.

Very happy with the barn doors we ordered from Socal Barn Doors. Process was easy and the they did a great job with the installation despite our ceilings being slightly off from level near the closets where they were installed. We replaced two old style bypass mirrored closet doors. Very happy with the new look.
We couldn't have asked for better made custom barn doors. These barn doors are absolutely beautiful. They are heavy and solid and simply feel well crafted. We picked out everything from the size, hardware, glass inset, and design of the door. We met with Tony at his shop to discuss and off we went and these arrived a few months later. You can tell SoCal Barn doors takes pride in their work. Tony and his crew went well above and beyond to get the color and look of the door we were seeking as well. These FAR exceeded our expectations. Which is such a breath of fresh air in the state of what we are in right now with construction. I have posted pictures of our doors. Don't mind the mess, we are still under construction! These are a busy group of guys (like everyone else) so be patient with the correspondence. It may take a couple of days to respond but he always gets back to you to answer any questions you may have during this process. Which is greatly appreciated. His Mom will schedule the appointments and also offer any additional information. She's as sweet as can be. If you are looking for a custom barn door this is your place!
SoCal Barn Doors built (1) large and (1) extra large barn doors for my garage. I can't tell you how amazing the doors are. They exceeded my expectations, did an excellent job and kept us informed while building them. I would highly recommend them and hope to use them again.
Tony and team knocked our barn door project out-of-the-park!!! If I could, I would give him and his company 10 stars! True professional, project was done on schedule and to price from quote! Easy to work with in our questions, extremely responsive to phone/text questions as well. Absolutely hands down gorgeous doors crafted from his business which included all the extra fittings and door assemblies during install. I truly appreciate Tony and his team for taking the extra time while at my residence to go the "extra" mile on little details my wife noticed and quickly made the minor adjustments! I would hire SoCal Barn-doors again and highly recommend Tony and his team for any future projects!

SoCal Barn doors did an amazing job! We had a large opening leading into our family room and wanted a large barn door to give privacy for the room. Tony did an excellent job building and installing this custom made barn door. It looks great too with the black hardware and track. The price was fair and we are completely satisfied with the look. I have attached hex pictures of before and after. We highly recommend Tony and SoCal barn doors if you need custom made barn doors. read more

I saw a small, bi-fold barn door on line which is what we needed for a doorway from our butler's pantry to our dining room. Found So Cal Barn Doors. From the start of this project we had great communication. Brandon came out and measured, we picked out color, hardware, etc. Our custom door was done sooner than expected and Brandon returned for install. So happy with the door and it's exactly what I wanted! read more

Tony and his team took a "back of the napkin" drawing and turned it into a fantastic piece of craftsmanship that perfectly matches the decor and atmosphere of our indoor-outdoor patio living space! Not only is the door meticulously crafted, with beautiful natural wood finish, but the installation team was clearly just as excited about their craft, taking several hours to carefully install the door, ensuring perfect "finger-pressure" opening, overcoming little engineering challenges that only emerge when you go to install something like this, and taking evident care and pride in the quality of the finished product! They were the perfect representatives of what is obviously a business that still takes pride in delivering one of a kind, hand made items of superior quality! The SoCal Barn Door team made a custom door exactly to our specifications for an odd sized opening that turned out beautifully. Their price was reasonable and they delivered it a few weeks before expected. Their team members have been honest and trustworthy through the entire process. They patiently made themselves available to me by email and phone for questions, and personally came to our home to do accurate measurements and mount our new door. The door itself upon examination in our home is of very high quality as promised, and I could see that they took a lot of care in creating it and mounting it. It is a work of art on our wall, but functional for a space that needed a door. I do not hesitate to give them my highest recommendations. read more

Tony is awesome. Found what we wanted on his site and reached out. He was super responsive and great to work with. He got our door done and installed in less than a month, all while following the necessary COVID protocol. Installation was quick and professional. I am so beyond thrilled with my new closet barn doors! I have VERY big closet doors in my new house and didn't even know if it was possible to have barn doors made that big. On top of that, I wanted them mirrored! Tony was so easy to work with, and ended up doing an absolutely incredible job. I told my husband last night that the closet doors are one of the best parts of our new house! I would highly recommend using SoCal Barn Doors if you're thinking about barn doors for your home! read more
