We have nothing but accolades for Mike Martinez and Custom Door Boutique. After years and years of searching for the right front door for our home, we finally found the one person who could make our dream door come true. Our house came with typical tract home doors. When we decided to replace them, we shopped around for a long time. We tried the big box store first and were surprised to learn that our doors were not the typical standard size. We were told about 95% of prefabricated doors were not available in our size. Of the 5% that would fit, none were to our taste. We realized that if we wanted something we liked, we would have to have it custom designed, created and installed. Our next step was to drive through various subdivisions looking at front entry doors trying to find the design that "spoke" to us. We loved the 8-panel doors we saw and decided the center panel should be replaced with a design of beautiful colorless stained glass that still offered privacy. Our next step was to look for the best person or company for the job. Finding that special artist took time. At last, we found Custom Door Boutique. We were pleased that this company is small, locally owned and not part of any conglomerate. We spoke with Mike Martinez, the owner. He came out and we were (and still are) extremely impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, kindness, fairness and his ethics. He did all the work. We discussed what we wanted and he came up with a proposal that was very agreeable to us. Regarding our glass design, we chose to design our own. Mike said that was doable (and at no extra cost). All we had to do was give him a drawing or sketch of what we wanted. We found a few patterns we really liked and incorporated them, allowing one pattern to flow into the other. Mike took our design for the door and glass and worked on putting them together. He sent us the pictures/drawing/sketches of what it would look like. Once we gave the okay on that, we had to settle on the color stain for the door. (By the way we had chosen a wood door and got to pick the type of wood.) Mike provided us with several examples of different shades of the stain we had chosen. It took us awhile to decide which stain it would be because we kept checking all the samples at different times of the day and evening, both inside the house and in front. When we gave Mike our final okay, the process of making our beautiful door began. A custom door, if you want it done right, takes time and patience. It took a few months for everything to come together and the custom stained-glass panel to be created. In May 2022 our beautiful doors were installed. Mike is a perfectionist and his doors will be a perfect fit with no gaps. Mike is a true artisan. We highly recommend Mike Martinez and Custom Door Boutique. Even if you have an issue with a door he did not install, Mike is your friendly, helpful neighbor who is the right person to call. To reiterate, Mike is a true skilled artisan who is ethical, professional, fair, kind and decent. read more

Mike did an awesome job in both fabricating and installing my new entry door. He is very knowledgeable about fabricating custom wood doors and walked us through the entire process of selecting the materials and hardware as well as the installation process. The finish work was outstanding and when he was done, you couldn't tell that a new door had just been installed. We were very pleased with the door quality and the pricing. Highly recommend. read more

Are these guys still in business? I was looking for someone to put in custom glass folding doors and their site looked great. However, after filling out their request form multiple times a couple of months ago, no one ever got back to me. Very disappointing. Maybe someone can recommend a company in North County that can do this and will actually respond to requests! read more

First, it's gonna take several weeks longer than you expect so start planning early. BUT second, it's totally worth it as you won't find anyone else in San Diego who can design and install your custom door like Mike can. We are in absolute love with our custom doors and we highly recommend Custom Door Boutique to make your vision a reality! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE our doors!!! They are everything I imagined and more. I am very picky, and I did extensive research before choosing Custom Door Boutique. When I finally did an inquiry, Michael responded right away. He came out just a few days later to discuss my vision and followed up with a quote one day after his visit. He really listened to me and incorporated all the features that were important to me. He even had innovative suggestions to accommodate the look and feel that I wanted that I had not even considered. I also liked that he presented a few cost effective options for me. After I chose to move forward, he had a full CAD drawing to me about 10 days later. After receiving HOA approval, the doors themselves took about 2 months to manufacture, but Michael was great about staying in touch and being super responsive when I asked for updates. It felt like it took forever BUT they were so WORTH THE WAIT. When the doors did come in, Michael was able to schedule a date to install them less than a week later. The actual install was just one full day. It was just in the nick of time too, just two days before our Housewarming :) Michael was great. He emailed us care instructions a day later. That is something I really appreciate in a contractor - quick, frequent, consistent, and clear communication. I am so incredibly happy with our doors. My favorite feature is that the top part of the doors can open and let the breeze in without the bugs. The frame and the hinges all operate so smoothly. The doors are truly beautiful. Seriously, if I needed another door and I had the budget, I would order another one right now. Thank you so much Custom Door Boutique! read more

Look no further for having your door installed...Mike, at Custom Door Boutique, is who you want to hire! Why? 1) He's the owner and installs all doors personally. This is huge! Other companies make promises, but he delivers. Because he is the owner/operator, it might take longer to get you're door installed. But, it's going to be installed correctly the FIRST time, not the third time (like our previous experience with Lowe's/Home Depot). 2) Mike only does doors. Yes, this makes him an expert that you can trust. He told us what he needed and to do, possible challenges, and how he'd make everything work. Having had doors installed before, they are not easy. Trust me when I say, you want to have Mike do this for you. 3) He has the added benefit of having his expert door installer, his dad, work with him. This was awesome as we had 2 experts working to replace & install our new door. 4) Mike picked up our door and delivered it to our house. I never had to deal with the company in ordering the door (I found ours at Home Depot). He ordered it and charged us what he paid for the door - no upcharge for this personal service saving us hours! I can't think of any negative as to why you wouldn't hire Mike. He's worth the wait to get the door installed right. read more

We had been looking for new entry doors for quite awhile. We physically contacted at least three other vendors in hopes of purchasing new doors, NOT ONE of those vendors followed up with quotes. I left a message at Custom Door Boutique and received a call back a short while later from Mike. - Mike is conscientious - Mike is professional - Mike is a skilled Craftsman - Mike is reliable - Mike is a pleasure to work with Mike and his Dad are the only two employees of Custom Door Boutique and their team work installation was perfection! read more

Custom Door Boutique - We love our new door! - Door Sales/Installation Near Me

Back in October 2017, Michael Martinez installed our beautifully designed custom doors in our upstairs bedroom. I promised I would write Michael a review because he absolutely deserves all the credit in the world for his artistry. The workmanship displayed and attention to detail is second to none. Kid life and family obligations have hindered our time, so, I apologize for this long overdue review. Custom Door Boutique comes with my highest recommendation for any custom door related project you may be considering. The results are absolutely stunning and worth every penny! We'll never look back and wished we went with a different option. After meeting Michael for the first time it was a no-brainer this was the man for the job. He was incredibly polite, sincere and professional throughout the entire job. There was never a moment we felt we were being "sold" or pressured into signing a contract. One look at his portfolio and our jaws dropped. After our initial discussion, a detailed AutoCAD drawing was sent to us for review and final approval before the materials were ordered. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this because you can easily visualize exactly what we were getting as well as having a precise point of reference. These doors are not slapped together. They are serious doors that will last a lifetime. Having patience and trusting the process yields amazing results. Michael, we could not be happier with the finished project. Every time, every single time I look or walk down our hallway I'm always impressed. We will for certain higher you again for other projects we envision, we just hope you are still around offering your great services when the time comes. I hope you are doing well! Justin read more

I postponed writing what I would tell you is a well-deserved review from someone who doesn't generally take the time to write. that said and unlike others, I tend to write when I am thrilled and refrain from writing when I am disappointed. I believe it not only helps the business but helps people looking for a reputable resource. In our instance, we replaced a solid front door that was twenty-seven years old with a gorgeous custom glass and iron front door. In addition, we placed a similarly old and tattered side gate with a custom fitted half door that is equally wonderful. Though the process was lengthy from start to finish, it was well worth the wait and Mike did his best to push the fabricator to finish so he and his Dad could install. That said, it was unique and, in our case, fortunate to find someone that offers a great custom selection as well as does his own measurements and install. In short, it saves time and money compared to buying the door from a manufacturer and having someone else doing the install. In addition, it prevents an errors or finger pointing if things do not go as plan. Mike owns the process from start to finish and in the end, we could not be happier with the outcome. He was professional throughout and lest an issue with the manufacturer for which he did resolve, he installed two perfectly installed doors with gorgeous hardware, iron, and glass. Thank you, Mike, and to those reading, do yourself a favor and stop searching/comparing as you'll find no better! read more

We just had a beautiful new entry door installed by Custom Door Boutique! Our old door was solid wood but had warped over the years creating a dark, drafty entryway. Mike and Fred are owner/operators and father and son. They are professional craftsmen, honest, and reliable. Mike handles the preliminary work and helped us decide what door would best accent our home. He took precise measurements, determined what stain would match our interior and exterior wood, suggested the best door lock sets, and ordered our door. He really listened to us! We received a detailed drawing of our project. Installment took one day. Mike and Fred worked side by side and got it done efficiently! Everything was ready to go and fit perfectly. Our entry is now a welcoming, well lit area! The door has a wood frame with large glass, privacy panels which open, and lovely architectural ironwork to compliment our decor! Our door is truly beautiful! We are very pleased and highly recommend Custom Door Boutique!! read more

I was excited to find these guys based on the reviews here, but what a let-down. On Wednesday 8/16/17 I called and Mike answered. He was pleasant and said he was picking his son up from school and would call me back the next day. I emailed him a picture of the door and all my information since he was on his cell at the time. Then nothing. I waited until Thursday 8/24 and emailed him asking him to let me know if he was not interested in the job. He emailed back the same day: "I owe you an apology. I am absolutely interested. Your email went down the list and I didn't follow up with you. I am very sorry. I will get on it this weekend and have some options for you asap." On the 29th, he emailed me to apologize again and say he was still working on it. I emailed him back and said quality was more important than speed so it was okay. On the 30th, he emailed me thanks for understanding and said he'd have options to me that day. On the 31st I got this: "I have to be honest with you, I have been buried under an avalanche of work. I am by myself and I am so sorry it has taken this long for me to get you the information you need. The best I'm going to be able to do for you is something this weekend, most likely on sunday. I hope that's ok and I'm sorry but this is the best I can do at this stage of my business where I'm alone." And then I never heard from him again. Anyone who is that flaky during the initial talks is not likely to be someone who does good work, so I suppose I dodged a bullet here and should thank him. I just wish he hadn't wasted so much of my time. read more

I reached out to Mike for a custom front door and he originally quoted me double my budget. But he spent time to work with me and created a door that is almost identical to the picture I sent him that my husband and I love. He knows the wood and has great recommendations. We had a tight timeframe and he made it happen. He's fast and efficient, but he also really takes the time to make sure it's exactly what you want. I was always able to reach him if I had questions or changes and as soon as he had the door ready, he came out and installed. Because we had a sub coming right behind him, we didn't have time to stain the door before install. Mike was willing to help us find someone to stain and seal the door, and when we used our contractor's painter, he made sure to seal the top and bottom for us so we didn't need to worry about pulling off the door or having issues getting to any parts of the door that needed to be sealed. Great to work with and great product - definitely recommend! Thanks Mike! read more

I called every door business in San Diego and nobody could do the door I wanted except Mike at Custom Door Boutique! His business is old school; he does the estimate, design, manufacture, and installation all in one place and his pricing is reasonable. He was VERY accommodating and patient with the drafts I made, with my drawings of the metal work I envisioned. I was so excited to see my own art work before my eyes. Every step of the way he is there to help with his expertise to pick out the color, the materials, the hardware, the design, the glass, the screen. Even placing hinge stops so that the panels wouldn't bump the walls with a gust of wind. The installation with his father is all in one day, very clean and safe. Be patient getting your doors because with all this customization and 5-star customer service that he gives each client it does take time - but it's sooo worth it! I will be using Custom Door Boutique again for more projects and recommend him to all my friends, no need to look anywhere else! read more

I highly recommend Michael and Custom Door Boutique. We were looking to replace our standard painted front door - the door had no windows and created a very dark entryway. We wanted a door with windows that would light in, yet still have privacy, and we wanted a door that was a "statement". Mike came out listened to our needs and wants, showed us the materials for types of wood, types of stain and types of glass, etc. He then went back and prepared drawings for us to review and they appeared to be exactly what we wanted. From there the production on the door began. Production took some time but when he delivered and installed the door, this was such a beautiful statement to our home. The quality and look far exceeded our expectations! We are so happy with the finished product. We now have an entryway that has light, with a unique custom door that becomes a talking piece. I also want to mention how professional Mike is. Mike came to install the door himself with his dad. It is so clear they take such pride in their work and wanted everything to be perfect for us! I cannot recommend Custom Door Boutique enough. They are not the least expensive, but we've always been of the mindset - you get what you pay for -- and in this case we got more! read more
