We had a rusted iron framed glass fence we were going to repair. At the same time we were considering an all glass fence. We found Glass Wall Systems on Yelp! and after meeting and speaking with the owner, Bill, were convinced (not through a hard sales pitch but instead detailed answers to thoughtful questions) to move forward with a glass fence. Ivan and Mario were onsite within days of us signing a contract with GWS. They were thorough and professional and installed a beautiful glass wall! Last and certainly not least, Monica was always available for questions as well as instrumental in helping us select the perfect color for our rail system. Hands down - most wonderful company in San Diego! They did an excellent job on my backyard glass fence - they were professional, way ahead of schedule, and very responsive to all my questions throughout the process - including colors, timing, HOA paperwork, etc (thank you, Monica!) Most memorable moment? The very next day after the fence was complete, my Landscapers scratched one of my posts pretty badly...I was devastated! Still, I was honest and let Monica and Bill know who had made the scratch and inquired about the cost for changing the post. Bill, too, was honest and convinced me not to pay the money to swap it now. Despite the powder coating being compromised, he felt it wasn't a spot rain would be able to sit - so therefore wouldn't rust easily enough to justify the cost. He told me it's a big job and wouldn't be cheap. So we agreed to do it at a later time if I really wanted it and was willing to pay. To my surprise, there was a minor defect in a completely different post that they caught and had to swap out (as in dig it out of the concrete, wasn't a small job). They came to do the job while I was at work - and to my surprise, they had swapped out the one my landscaper scratched also! I was SO happy and so touched! For them to do such a kind gesture, even knowing it was not their fault - speaks volumes about this company!! Our glass fence was definitely out of warranty when I contacted Glass Wall Systems about a small issue with the gaskets holding in one panel of glass. Bill Mesa came to our house within 24 hours and examined the problem and said someone would be out ASAP to remedy the problem AT NO COST TO US. The next day the issue was fixed! I would like to thank and acknowledge Glass Wall Systems for outstanding work on a new glass wall they installed, completing my project on time and on budget. It is a beautiful final product, far exceeding my expectations. I had a tough time with a number of the other contractors when I purchased my new home, for example the first contractor's bill came in more than double the original quote. Other contractors did a lot of damage to systems and construction materials weren't cleaned up. That's what made me appreciate so much the professionalism of GWS. It was great working with people who did what they said they would do - for the amount they said. More important, they kept me informed along the way how long it would take for upcoming steps. And if someone would or would not be there on a particular day, without me having to call and find out. And I was pleased that the materials usually arrived 2-3 days ahead of your original projection. That was important for me to be able to keep neighbors informed and so I could line up the next jobs (concrete walls, cement patio and chain link fence, etc.). It took a while to locate a San Diego local glass wall builder, seems this is rather specialized work and there are only a few companies that service areas south of SR-94. Interviewed three companies and settled on Glass Wall Systems as they have been in business the longest (of the three) and they definitely have a firmer grasp of what exactly needs to be done to install such a wall. They are familiar with either glass or polycarbonate materials and they interfaced seamlessly with A&C Landscaping as part of my larger project, providing A&C with a clearly engineered specification for the required footing. Excellent coordination! I would contract with Glass Wall Systems again, they are the best in San Diego. You will not be disappointed! read more

I recently had Glass Wall Systems put in a glass fence with no posts. Many problems occurred. The job was suppose to take 2 weeks, it took 3 1/2 weeks. I noticed after they placed concrete blocks filled with cement to eventually hold the glass, the fence would not be built on my property! I had them take out the blocks and move it in. Little communication of when workers would arrive, what steps they were taking and trash removal was a problem. Knowing that I had house guests, and the project was being delayed, they left trash stacked for a week before they got around to returning. The owner, Bill Mesa, demanded final payment, even though he had not completed fixing a 2 inch gap at the end of the fence....something he promised to take care of. He also left black rubber oozing out of the hinges of the gate. After my complaints, he had a worker come back to remove the black rubber, but refused to fix the gap. The fence looks nice, excluding the gap, the pain, frustration and aggravation that came with this project was not worth it. Hire someone else!! read more

Let me just start by saying that this company was recommended by a few neighbors so I had high hopes to find a contractor who can do the job well, on time, and be responsive to his costumers concerns. With a project that's valued in the range of the price of a car I feel choosing the right contractor is important. At the time I was selecting a company to do my glass wall project this company had many more Yelp reviews and high ratings. I wonder what happened since then... Initially, the company had no problems answering calls and were happy to schedule a site visit. Bill came out to the site, all questions were answered and a price quote was submitted. This was on the high side but I had high expectations for getting a quality product so the contract was signed. Let me just say that was the last time I saw Bill. As the project progressed (with delays due to the contractor having another project) questions arose about plans that were initially submitted and work that was carried out. Poured aspects of the foundation were clearly different from what the initial plans called for. There was significant lag time between my inquiries and when the company replied. There are many phone numbers to call but rarely are they answered in time or at all. In the meantime the work progressed done by workers who did not speak the language and could not answer my questions. When I the company finally got back to me I was told that "I must have sent you the wrong plan, this is how we do it now". I had other questions later in the project, which were answered in the same untimely manner. There was never a clear timeline of when things were to be done and the project took much longer to complete than predicted. On final completion there were significant concerns on how the glass fit together...I think this was due to lack of clear supervision of the workers. As mentioned previously, I never saw Bill again. He never came out to discuss concerns, hand over the completed project, or even to receive his final check. I don't know maybe he was embarrassed... Overall the main part of the glass wall ended up looking very good, and my final fitment concerns were addressed with the option of either chiseling the glass out and redoing part of the project or a discount. Overall I'd rate the final product as a 4 but costumer service a 2. I'm in a business where costumer service is paramount. I feel that paying attention to costumer satisfaction and opinion shows you care about your business and its continued success. I did not get that feeling here. read more
