After many years with my optometrist in Pasadena, I came to accept that there may be comparable optometrists closer to me. Dr. So is a referral from my older brother who has been a patient since he relocated to the area. I went to Dr. So's office last week to get new prescriptions. Dr. Yip took her time when evaluating my vision and also explained the process to me, which I always appreciate. She was very kind, professional, and knowledgeable. After the evaluation, it was time to select my new glasses, which is fun, but also difficult when you are presented with great options. I had the pleasure of receiving assistance from Phillip. He helped me gather options and was very honest when I tried on the glasses. He let me know yay or nay, and the selection time decreased dramatically. It is very rare to find people who are honest about their opinions, but I value this characteristic very much. After this visit, I am a forever patient of Dr. So's optometry. I found this place through Yelp and I had to make an appointment for an eye exam based on their great reviews. I went in for a eye exam back in November and due to insurance purposes did not purchase my glasses at the time. Came back again in early January to pick out my frames. I didn't have an appointment and the lady (forgot her name) who helped me with so patient in showing me different glasses that suited my face. My eyesight was suffering and out of laziness I kept putting off an eye doctors visit. In approximately 1994 my sister in law literally dragged me into an eye doctor at the Montclair Plaza. It was Dr. So. It changed my life. Literally. Years later I moved to Texas and eventually moved back to California. Dr. So was no longer in the Montclair Plaza, but I was determined that he'd be the only eye doctor I'd go back to after bad experiences with Target and Walmart. I found his office again online, now in Upland and down at the beach. Upland is closer for me. So I returned. They still had all my records and the doctor himself remembered every detail about me, even personal ones, even after 15 years away. His staff remembered me too. Great people. As always Dr. So thoroughly did my boyfriends and my eye exam on Saturday. He is such a genuine and caring man. In my last review I talked about how Dr. So was trying to get my boyfriend in contacts comfortably with his dry eye condition. He still hasn't given up on him and now they are trying something different to see if it works better. During and after the exam Dr. So made sure we understood everything we had to know about our eyes. Also the ladies up front are awesome. They are so sweet and helpful. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They have a sign walk ins welcomed and 1hr exams when I went in for my eye exam the Dr wasn't even there he's only there certain days so I had to make an appointment for another day. The exam was so rushed and it seemed like they just wanted to get $$ from me. They wanted to schedule me for a follow up and I would have to pay for that visit because my insurance only covers one office visit. He also recommend eye drops which I purchased and they irritated my eyes so bad. I didn't even have any kind of problem just went in for a reg check up. I regret getting my glasses from there I should've waited and gone somewhere else. read more
