Dr. Baggerly is great. His employees leave much to be desired. They broke my wife's glasses last year and would NOT fix nor replace them. She had to go elsewhere to get a new pair. I went to get contact lenses this year and did not notice (until it was too late) that they gave me a prescription for reading glasses. DETAILS MATTER - especially when you are 45 minutes away and had to plan a month in advance! I can't even get my yearly pair of glasses! I took my wife's glasses to these people to replace a nose pad., The technician broke the frame in two. She put my wife's lenses in a cheap frame telling me they were in place securely. Later that evening the lenses fell out. I was not charged for this fiasco, but neither was there any offer to properly repair or replace the frame. read more

I am disappointed with my experience at this optometry office. My child had just been discharged from the hospital after treatment for nausea and vomiting. Before the appointment, I called the office to explain the situation and ask about rescheduling. I was informed that rescheduling at that time would result in a $50 fee. To avoid the fee, I brought my child to the appointment as scheduled. After we arrived, the doctor stated they were not comfortable seeing her because of her recent illness, and the office canceled the appointment. The most concerning aspect was that the office had already been informed of my child's condition before the visit. Despite this, I was told a cancellation fee would apply if I rescheduled, yet the appointment was ultimately canceled by the office upon our arrival. As a result, we made an unnecessary trip while managing a child's recent hospitalization. While I understand the need to protect patients and staff, I believe the situation warranted greater flexibility and consideration. Went again for my annual check up. My usual doctor is not available so I had to see a new doctor (Dr. Kohan who's very nice). The front desk staff (especially whoever phones you) though are just short, curt and to the point of rude. They make you feel as if you're a burden and an interruption to their day. They need training and some customer service skills. I'm in no rush since I don't have any serious eye issue but I will not hesitate to change providers because of this if need be. read more

There are many things wrong with this office. 1. Office lost my wife's antique Ray-Ban sunglasses that were over 25 years old. They thought they rectified it by getting her a new pair of Ray-Bans (same style) but they are not the same as Ray-Ban's older glasses. I almost think that they were worth something and that's why they say they lost them. After they lost my wife's glasses, the manager was rude and seemed to be put out and told us that we replaced them free of charge when they originally lost them, lol. What a joke. 2. First office ever to say I need two pairs of glasses. That was a year ago. I just got my eyes checked and they said that that is not the case. 3. Lastly, a year ago they suggested a prescription for my eight-year-old son who has a slight stigmatism. We just got his eyes checked at a much better optometrist and the doctor told us that there is no need at this time for him to have glasses. The shape of his eye is not going to change if he wears his glasses and so there is no need to have glasses for him and we can wait a couple of years. This is not the same information that Claremont optometrist suggested to us and said that he needed glasses. Not only is this office ran horribly with very little customer service, they are trying to get the most amount of money they can out of you. I will never go back to this location. read more

I used to see Dr. Johannsen, who was fabulous. However, when she retired, I started seeing Dr. Baggerly. I went three years in a row, and each time the prescriptions for both my glasses and contacts were off by a lot. When I tried to tell him that I couldn't see, and made a suggestion, he raised his voice and said "I'm the doctor!", and refused to listen to me. Again, I couldn't see. I'm tardy in writing this review since my appointment was many months ago but I really appreciated the extra effort that Dr. Kohan puts forth versus my longtime experience with Kaiser Permanente's optometry department. As an aging adult, reading glasses have entered my life in the last few years. I am an avid reader, hiker and professional gardener who has always worn contacts, so I found carrying reading glasses an inconvenience. I felt the options I had been offered in the past from Kaiser were limited and this year did my research to find a new optometrist. Dr. Kohan was a breath of fresh air... she offered me many different options in contacts which I had not been informed about by Kaiser and over the course of the next couple months we tried them out to see what worked best for my eyes, lifestyle and budget. I had an amazing experience at Claremont Optometry. I saw Dr. Islam and she was the best Optometrist I have ever had. She genuinely seemed to care about my eye health and made sure to take her time to figure out any and all issues that I was experiencing with my vision. I never felt rushed and she was really patient with all my ridiculous questions and confusion. She showed great expertise but was also easy going throughout the entire appointment. I really feel like all Doctors should follow this example and she set the standard as high as it gets! Any future eye appointments for myself or family are headed in her direction! I also want to appreciate all the Staff. From the front desk to the initial eye checks, everyone was really friendly and accommodating. I didn't have to wait much either. I was welcomed very nicely to the clinic and pretty much just sat down, was called in, and had to stand back. Great experience. The last part of the visit was the insurance/copay talk and picking out my first glasses. Danielle took over at this point and was really a pleasure. She helped me work with my insurance to get the best possible deal and didn't try to stick me at all. This alone deserves a 5-Star, A+ rating and would make me come right back or send friends/family here. After that it was glasses time and I really enjoyed this part of the visit and Danielle made the experience fun and memorable. She took time with me and made sure we found something that matched my style. If I said I didn't really like a certain type of glasses she happily moved on and made some really good recommendations. She even got another colleague's opinion on the look at the end and we made a unanimous decision on the frames. It was like picking out shades at the mall with a friend. The Office: I'm a repeat customer at Claremont Optometry and I feel that the service is exceptional. As a local in the area, I've been to plenty of other optometry offices in the area and this one is the best. The office is full of technology that helps streamline the pre-op exam. The aesthetics of the office are beautiful and thoughtful. The Doctor: I have a specific eye condition called Keratoconus that Dr. Kohan is a specialist in. My experience working with her has been spectacular. She is patient with all of my questions and I feel that she really goes above and beyond with making sure I am comfortable and understand what's going on. The Staff: There is a lot of staff at this office who all are caring and thoughtful. I regularly get confused with whose who. They do have name badges, and my vision is pretty poor when I'm not wearing my specialty contact lenses, so I I'm unable to read them. It was my first time going to Claremont Optometry and it did not disappoint! I called to make an appointment and the front desk staff member, Julian, was super friendly. I could not remember what my insurance covered, but he was able to look it up and walked me through it very clearly. On appointment day, I was a bit nervous because it was only my second time going to the optometrist, but the staff made it such an easy experience. The technician who did all my testing was very nice and walked me through what she was about to do step by step, which I appreciated! All the equipment seemed super new, clean and advanced which I also liked a lot. My optometrist was Dr. Kohan - she was amazing! Very professional and knowledgeable. She took her time to answer all my questions and was very friendly and spoke in a cool, calm and collected manner which put my nerves at ease. She never made me feel like she was rushing to get out of there (which I have experiences in the past with doctors!) Claremont Optometry and Dr. Brad Baggarly save me from blindness and disability!!!!!! I had had good vision and not seen an Optometrist in 20+ years. Before I turned 57, I noticed a very quick decline in my night vision and my biggest fear was that it could be a degerative eye disease. I would normally have to have gone to medical doctors or get a referral to an Opthamologist, which would have taken weeks to get seen, but I called Dr. Baggarly's office and they got me in the fist Saturday he had available, which was that week I called or possibly the next. Having had oral cancer in 2020, I knew that a 6 week wait to see a doctor, could be the differece between a minor, correctabl issue or a major issue with aggressive treatment needed. Claremont Optometry had tests I've never seen, far beyond eye charts and once they took images from behind my eyes, Dr. Baggarly came in and showed me the images on a compuer screen and explained I had Cataracts, but no degenerative eye disease. He pointed to the blood vessels on the images and explained what he would have seen if I had a different eye condition. I learned that Claremont Optometry is one of the few Optometry offices in California that has this advanced imaging capabability. Had they not, then I would have had to still get in to see an Opthamologist and that could have been weeks! Dr. Baggarly perscribed glasses and those immediately helped vs. being unsafe for weeks! He explained how those would likely just be a short term fix and not stop the light haloes and light blurring I had while night driving. The glasses were fine, but my vision was deteriorating and I finally hit a center median while driving because I could not see the curb while trying to turn left at night. My tire popped and I was lucky it was late and I was able to pull over safely! I called Claremont Optometry the next morning and they got me right in to see Dr. Baggarly within a day or two! Again, if I had to see an Optamologist, that might have taken weeks and I was now an unsafe driver, but rely on driving for my work! Once I saw Dr. Baggarly, on short notice, he and his staff, primarily, Danelle, helped replace my eye frame lenses within a few days vs. ordering new ones and having to wait and drive unsafely until those came in. Many medical offices have good doctors, but not good staff and that can make or break a patient's experience. In my case, I could have had a severe accident while driving. Claremont Optometry is 35 minutes from where I live, but getting in quick and taken care of, are priceless and Dr. Baggarly also referred me to a local Cataract surgeon who fast tracked me into his office and since then, I have had Cataract surgery on both eye and can see close and far without glasses! My business requires I be mobile and responsive and that means using my Smartphone to view and type on business apps all day. Had I not been fast tracked and opted to see a local Optamologist, I would have, only now, been seen for the first time and the surgery projection was for July! I was litterally blind in my left eye and could not read the top E line on a chart, so any further delay would have been a disabilty, cost me my business or gotten me into a driving accident! My 2nd surgery wass this past Monday and my one week follow up and continued follow up on that will be with Dr. Baggarly. Dr. Baggarly alread explained, after my right eye surgery, that the diagonal light flairs I saw at night, was a result of the surgical incisions and would go away or easily corrected. That put me at ease because I drive a lot at night for work and work events and was very scared. So, my vision trust is with Dr. Baggarly and Claremont Optometry, should anyone reading this feel they have a major concern with their vision and want to get it looked at right away. Last comment: I have never had to sit and wait to be seen on my appointment times and, last visit, I was seen 10 minutes early! read more

I recently moved to the area and needed new glasses since I lost my old ones! Go figure! Anyways, Claremont optometry was in network for my vision insurance I called and was able to come in next day for eye exam and glasses. Everyone in the office was super nice and friendly, the office itself is clean, up to date and they offer online registration which is neat so you can fill out at home and save time at the actual office. I was seen by a Dr who has been there 30+years I didn't get his name but he was super friendly we spoke for a bit and continued with the exam. They have pretty neat technology that I haven't seen from my previous optometrist drs. Overall, my experience here was great and I will for sure come here for my vision needs. They are obviously on commission and incented to load you up with everything and every option they possibly can.
