La Verne Optometry was amazing! I had my first visit this morning , and I couldn't be happier with my experience. From beging to end EVERYONE was so kind and helpful. Sonya was so sweet and patient and made sure I was happy with the glasses I chose.(which I've never been happy with a pair before because I never got the help I did today in choosing the perfect pair!) Buyer beware. I went to La Verne Optometry in La Verne, CA to have my eyes examined and to purchase progressive eyeglasses. I had my eyes examined, and I picked out a frame. About a week later they called me and said my glasses were ready, but when I went to pick them up, the computer vision part of the glasses was very blurry. Since I had purchased 3 pairs of progressive classes in the past 25 years, I knew what a good pair of progressive glasses should be. They agreed to send them back for correction. The second time they came back the same way, blurry. They sent them out a third time, but they came back the same, blurry. At this point I asked for a refund, they refused. I had spent $1,300 at La Verne Optometry and the glasses they created were unwearable. This forced me to go to a different optometrist and pay out of pocket for a pair of progressive glasses. I did, and this optometrist did an excellent job creating a very good pair of progressive glasses. It seemed to me that at La Verne Optometry, profit was more important than customer satisfaction. Needless to say, I won't be returning to La Verne Optometry. Buyer beware. read more

I couldn't speak more highly of this optometry! Our 3yo son had a swollen eye and what we THOUGHT was a stye until a pharmacist recommended we get him seen because it looked infected. I called the optometry and told them what was happening- keep in mind it's New Year's Eve and everyone is trying to get seen before the new year- Erika was sooo kind and told us she could get us in as an emergency visit. We got there in 15 min and were seen almost immediately. Dr. Alva was kind, attentive, and great with our 3 year old. He helped our son feel comfortable in a setting we'd never been before. His eye turned out to have an infection and they treated him accordingly. Couldn't be more grateful for this team, it seems they really do care. read more

Wow!!!! If you want to be treated like a VIP this is the place to go!!! From the second we walked in to check out this place. We were greeted by Erika! She answered all or question, checked our insurance benefits and set up our appointments!!!! On the day of our appointment Erika made sure we were nice and safe. She checked our temperature and made sure we washed our hands. That was great to see that they care about the health of all patience. Dr Alva was amazing he explained everything and was very professional!!! Then we met Sonia she showed us an amazing selection of frames!! So many choices!!! I had not gone to an eye doctor for many years, but have taken plenty of my own children to one. Now it was my turn. He was recommended by family and friends and now I see why -- personal service, spotless office, efficient and kind staff, and Dr. Alva was the best. He took time to explain things, make sure I understood them, and even asked how my "non-eye" life was. Who still does that? I used Dr. Guido and then defected and went to another optometrist because it was covered by my insurance. Won't happen again. I went back to Guido because my prescription is 100% correct. His staff has always been more than accommodating and professional. They've provided excellent service and recommendations for frames and add ons to the lens. Recently my glasses were stolen. They put a rush on a replacement pair and gave me a more than fair price for the replacement set. In addition to the story above. My prescription that was corrected by Dr. Guido after defecting was less than what I paid with the insurance coverage at the other optometrist. read more

His office staff is the same. The office is located in downtown La Verne. I highly trust Dr. Guido with my eyes. Recently, he announced he's scaling down quite a bitt and has taken on a partner, Dr. Alva. Today, I met De. Alva who is equally patient, who dialated my eyes, was thorough in the testingg of my eyes and then took the time to explain the results, giving me a review of the working of my eye and information of how my blood pressure & cholesterol are affecTing it. My husband and his son were seen here about 3 years ago, and it was a nice visit. My husband and I returned 2 weeks ago, and again, very pleasant. Before we were seen, I called and had them check our insurance. The receptionist who helped us was VERY kind, patient, and returned my call promptly. My husband and I had "double date" appointments and they called him back within 5 minutes of arriving. I wasn't far behind him. Lots of up to date machines and the staff were patient and had a good manner about them. Dr Guido is soft spoken, but has a great wit to him, that breaks the ice and makes you feel comfortable! The glasses prices seemed fair, but we couldn't afford theirs, so we ended up purchasing glasses from Costco, and the prescriptions are perfect. We will be returning here again! read more

Dr. Guido is fabulous! He is very kind and thorough. I was having problems with my contacts - they were making my eyes red and irritated. I was barely able to keep my contacts in a full 8-hours before ripping them out! Dr. Guido patiently listened as I explained my problem, made several recommendations of OTC and prescription eye drops to reduce the irritation, recommended a 'less-drying' contact and sent me home with several samples. A note about the samples, he gave me enough samples to test out the products over several weeks - not like other shops (i.e. LensCrafters) who gives you a very limited supply that lasts a couple days. If I am purchasing a year-long supply of a product I want to make sure I love it. The office staff was very helpful. I decided to order a year-long supply of contact through them (it was less expensive than using 1800Contacts) and was pleasantly surprise at how easy it was. I am a huge fan and highly recommend Dr. Guido and his practice. Looking forward to visiting him again next year! read more

I went to this optometrist for my first time in say , ehh, 10 years. It was long over due for sure. I went in to see if I needed glasses because I was finding myself squinting a lot in school. My mom also goes here and highly recommended it. So I made the mistake of going during farmer's market, my fault def not there's, so I was a little late. But when I came in the door the lady behind the counter welcomed me with a big smile, was super friendly, and answered all my questions I had. Before I even had the paper work finished the doctor was ready for me, which was very nice. The nurse performed a few tests on some very advanced machines(as far as I know), and she was very professional, friendly, and gentle. When I finally got to see the optometrist he was super friendly and personable, but most importantly professional. He did a series of tests and screenings. He determined exactly what was wrong with my eyes and prescribed me a prescription for some glasses that I am wearing as I write this. This optometry center has no idea how much easier they have made my life! This is a top notch office! I highly recommend their services! read more

Very good at reminding you of the appointment. Skimpy on thoroughness of tests. No chart was given on peripheral view field. No dilation option was discussed. Condition of optical nerve had to be asked. Macular degeneration, catarat, was not discussed. It felt as an abbreviated test was only needed.My wife experienced the same. read more
