Stopped by on Friday, 05/03/24 for my annual eye exam check up. This year, I decided to get new frames instead of my yearly supple of the monthly contact lenses since my current glasses (Tiffany & Co. Brand) is around 2 years old. I've been a loyal customer to this specific Optometry Office for decades. I would remember my mom taking my sister and I during the elementary and middle school days. At the time, my mom would give us limitations in terms of what frames we wanted to get (i.e., the cheaper options that were fully covered by insurance). Fast forward in time, I stopped coming to this office since I moved out of Pomona for college and would get my eyes checked near my college. Now, I am back in Pomona and decided to stick to this office. Very clean interiors and staff are always friendly. Excellent customer service and the staff's level of patience is tremendously the best. I usually meet with Dr. Le but on Friday I met with a different doctor (I'm assuming Dr. Liu?). Dr. Le's office is truly like a museum! Full of Bruce Lee action figures, Star Wars figures, and so much more! In terms of glasses frames, this place has it all, from affordable frames fully covered by insurance to the more expensive and lavish-branded ones (Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Tory Burch, MK, etc.). From all ends of the spectrum truly, and staff members will help you out and consult with you to make sure you are getting what you want and need. The Tiffany glasses I got 2 years ago was my most expensive frames purchase. On Friday, I spoiled myself and got Gucci. My eyes had been bothering me, so I searched for an optometry office near my home and chose this one based on positive reviews. Initially, my experience was great--the receptionist, the technician, and the doctor were all friendly and helpful. Things changed when I declined the upgraded lenses they recommended, which were quoted at $415 and $815. I chose to go with the basic pair covered by my insurance and requested a copy of my prescription. However, my prescription did not include my PD (pupillary distance) or any information about the eye misalignment the doctor mentioned during the exam. When I called the next day to request this information, I had a frustrating experience. I was placed on hold multiple times, transferred between staff, and eventually given conflicting information. One staff member told me my PD was 31.5, while another later told me it was 62. Additionally, I was told that the "misalignment" only applied to the Neurolens option--the most expensive lenses they recommended. This was confusing, as I was not given a clear explanation during my exam about whether this was an actual diagnosis or something specific to a premium product. I left the interaction feeling unsure about the accuracy of the information provided and concerned about whether I was being encouraged toward unnecessary upgrades. Materials (glasses, contacts, etc.) are far over-priced. I had $137.00 credit toward materials from my insurance, and Kelly said that would cover one box of 12 contacts - that's $11.42 per contact! When I picked up the contacts, I asked the young man at the front desk how much the same box of contacts would cost if I wanted more later. He said $70.00. Seventy dollars for twelve contacts is quite a bit more than I would have to pay at Costco, Sam's Club, and many others, but $137.00 is ridiculous! I feel that I was cheated and should have received 2 packs of 12 contacts (even if I had to pay the extra $3.00). I had corrective surgery on one eye and only needed contacts for the other. If I had needed contacts for both eyes, I would have received two boxes for that price, but because I needed them for only one eye, Kelly allowed one box. If $137.00 covers two boxes, I should have received two boxes, regardless of how many eyes I would be using them in. The last time I purchased glasses from Pomona Valley Optometry, I was charged almost $500, and that was my portion after insurance. The following year, I purchased very close to the same pair of glasses (different frame and they were sunglasses), and my portion after insurance was only $99.00. read more

I've been coming here since I was 10, I'm now 30! Staff and doctor have always been amazing! However, is the first time I've had a bad experience with a staff I've never seen before, Natalie. I called asking for the staff member that helped me last time to get an update on a specific brand glasses I had been waiting for. Natalie answers the phone and makes it difficult for me to get a hold on the staff member that helped me. She questions my reasons and why. I then ask to speak to the manager and she sends the line directly to the staff member I wanted to initially talk to. I asked to speak to the manager to the staff member and she kindly sends the line to the manager. Kim is the manager and treats me better than the Natalie. I let her know about the situation and she said she would take care of it. Fast forward to two weeks, when I made an appointment to come in, and Natalie is in the front doesn't even say hi, speaks with an attitude, nothing like the other staff. Everyone in the office is amazing, but this new staff member Natalie makes the place hostile. I am now switching to another office. Is sadden me that I am no longer coming to this place that made me feel like family every time I came in. Dr Lee is so wonderful and he has a great sense of humor. If you love Star Treck (sp) or Star Wars you really love his exam room. Every staff person I came into contact with were so nice and caring. Between my partner and Lizi helped me find the right frames for me. I fiercely did not like the place I use to go. When you come be sure you tell the doc all your meds including Medical MJ or recreational. He puts it all in the computer and if the meds can change your vision and his computer makes adjustments for the medications that will affect your vision. Dr. Le is a amazing!! My family and I have been coming here for a few years now, and we've never had any issues with him. All the staff members have been amazing and extremely nice. However, today I had horrible service from one of the staff members. I'd never seen her before** She was completely rude from the beginning. She said her name is Jessica. From the beginning she gave off attitude and didn't even smile once. She tried to charge my Credit Card and it was declined. She attempted a few times inserting the chip or swiping and it wasn't going through. I mentioned that if it would be the same if she were to enter it manually, she gasped and said it's the same. I checked my account online and called customer service to check on my account; everything had checked out fine. I was told by the banker to let the staff member know that it could be a card reading error and to attempt to enter the card number manually. I told Jessica what I was instructed to say, and she gave me attitude and looked at me very upset saying, "I entered it manually twice already!" Ummmm no she hadn't!! She had only swiped the card and entered it through the chip reader. Not once was the card information entered manually!! FINALLY! she enters the card information MANUALLY and what a surprise the card transaction was APPROVED!! Clearly my card wasn't being read properly, my fault. But all of it would have been avoided if she would have done this the 2nd time around when I had suggested it. My appointment was at 2:00pm. I got there at 1:53pm and after all the drama with my card was over it was 2:08pm. At 2:30 I asked if I can reschedule my appointment because it was taking too long. Jessica said "Sure" smirked and turned to the computer and asked me, "You'll like to reschedule?" I replied by telling her that if it was going to take long, yes; however, she mentioned that it should only be another 10 minutes. I waited till 2:47 and I got up and asked to cancel the appointment and that I wanted a refund. She didn't say anything, she just turned to the drawer to get my receipt and refund it through credit card machine. So rude!! Extremely unprofessional. It's a shame that someone with that personality can work for an office that use to be so pleasant to go to. With someone that's greeting patients like that it's impossible to go back to. Thank you Esther for calling me and asking why did I leave, but it's hard to stay and tolerate someone with that attitude. Very disappointing. read more

I will forever be grateful to Dr. Le. About a year and a half ago, I went in for a routine eye exam but I had no idea I would leave with far more valuable information about my health. Dr. Le was friendly from the beginning and he showed genuine interest for my wellbeing. He made me feel comfortable which allowed me to ask all the questions I had. We then went on to talking about other symptoms I've been having. I had been having insane headaches for years which were always attributed to stress by my PCP. Dr. Le proceeded to take pictures to see the back of my head and these showed that my optic nerves were swollen. They didn't look like the common eye diseases and he went on to explain what it could possibly be. Considering my other symptoms he gave his best recommendation which was to seek an ophthalmologist through my PCP to rule out papilledema and/or other diseases. This sent me into a journey of research, medical tests, and ultimately a diagnosis of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension. My life has completely changed as I've understood my diagnosis better and what I had been experiencing for years. I've changed my lifestyle to reflect a more healthy and active lifestyle. I've lost almost 90lbs and I feel stronger than ever. My diagnosis has no cure and every day is different and has its struggles but I am so so thankful that Dr. Le took the time. I can see how passionate he is about his career. I thank God every day for Dr. Le, who knows where I'd be if he weren't the one who performed my eye exam that day. Thank you Dr. Le. read more

Why do I love this place: - The doctors take their time to answer any questions you may have and are thorough with explanations (they use visuals such as pictures and medical models to help you better understand any medical issues). - They offer eye imaging photography which was important to me because it is helpful in tracking the health of your eyes over time. -The designer glasses selection is great. They pretty much have them all : Jimmy Choo, Ray Bans, Gucci, Nike, Tiffany and co., Versace, etc. -ABOVE ALL I LOVE THE STAFF. My family and I have been going to Dr. Le for over 15 years. We've always been very happy with him and his service; however, I recently had a bad experience with some staff when I was trying to understand my insurance. I have VSP through my company and it works differently from insurance. The staff should understand every form of insurance/coverage and be able to explain it to their patients; however, when I asked them to explain it, they couldn't and they became very condescending and rude. Many patients don't work in the medical field and we are not informed about various forms of coverage. While it is the responsibility of the patient to understand their own insurance, a "service" provider should be able to help a patient understand how their coverage works. read more
