Another nice experience at this eye exam facility. I had the preliminary testing (eye exams in house before seeing Dr Ng , maybe three, and I'll always pay extra for the retinal photo), then moved on to the professional eye exam by Dr. Ng. The nice thing is that I can ask her any and all questions about my eye situation and discuss any concerns, and she takes the time to educate me and reassure me about my eye health. At age 70, I take my eye health very seriously and appreciate the information she imparts, and also the knowledge that she would alert me to any serious problems and initiate an immediate referral to a specialist if need be. I came away with an updated eyeglass prescription. They have the glasses on-site, but one can also take that prescription to any other place. read more

I also took an older pair of frames and put my updated prescription lenses in which was a smooth process for me. I originally went to Linden Optometry in Pasadena for my eye check-up and prescription glasses because they have one of the largest eyewear selections I have seen. I moved out 25 miles east from west Pasadena, so I had to find a new optometrist. I am very thankful I came across this gem through my Yelp search. Not only do they have 5 stars, but they are only a 8 minute drive from my house. Score! We had a wonderful first-time experience here a little over two weeks ago. Everyone from Dr. Liu and the three lovely ladies that work there are awesome! They all provide a great personable experience and they all seem knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you for the positive and delightful experience! This place will now be our go-to optometry place! For those looking for a local optometrist, book them ASAP because they book very quickly since they take a limited amount of patients a day to avoid close contact with other patients. My wife and I paid Dr. Liu a visit last week, for the first time as we were looking for a new optometrist. Dr. Liu has a great chair-side manner - very engaging, professional, detail-oriented and breaks things down quite easily. I've been near-sighted most of my life and also have an astigmatism; I've seen different optometrists but Dr.Liu is probably the most patient I've encountered and was very adept at going over all the unique issues I face and what I should look out for as I get older. At the end of my exam, I was properly fitted for contacts and felt like my eyes are in good hands here. The only downside is the selection of frames isn't quite as robust as other places. Unfortunately, I had to order glasses elsewhere due to the limited selection of frames. Not too much of a big deal as Dr. Liu gave me my prescription so I could do just that. Overall, I don't foresee needing to switch optometrists any time soon. read more

Needed a new optometrist since Costco is now out of my VSP network. I sent a message to a couple of local places and Utopia got back to me quickest. I went in and had an easy time getting set up for my new appointment, and they are in my VSP network. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Eye exam was quick and professional. What sold me most however was the variety of frames, both regular and sunglasses. I am very picky with what I am looking for, and most places don't carry what I want, but Utopia did here. Amazing place. I love the optometrist but I don't buy my glasses there. I get them for a lesser cost somewhere else. When I ask for the prescription, I feel bad. I know they want the business, but they charge more than my other location. I get my prescription (which they do a fantastic job with) and move on. I went here years ago, and for whatever reason hadn't gone back. (It may have been I just wasn't into the frames they had). Or maybe we couldn't get an appointment early enough so went with someone else. Well, after trying two other locations I came back to Utopia. Though we are dealing with Covid restrictions (hello 2020) I had an amazing experience. The staff is being careful with procedures to keep everyone safe. And the staff and the Dr are all extremely friendly and helpful. Honestly, I will be coming back and recommending this optometrist. I recently moved to SoCal and needed to find a new eye Dr. After extensive research, I decided upon Utopia and Dr. Liu. What a great choice. The staff are all very helpful, knowledgeable and happy. From my first phone call to picking up glasses, it was a great experience. I needed a contacts and new glasses. Dr. Lui was great. We discussed different options for my glasses lenses, such as blue tint for computer use. He asked a lot of questions which I appreciated to get the right fit for when I wear contacts vs. glasses. I have always had the hardest time finding a pair of glasses that fit my face, but that was not my experience here. I found a pair quickly and LOVE them! They did a great job with giving me feedback about different pairs, advice with my insurance coverage (which was the best way to apply my insurance for the glasses or contacts). I went to my appointment during COVID and they were very serious about following procedures from entering the office, trying on glasses, where you sat, etc. Also, they pre-fit my frames so that when my glasses were ready I could do a curbside pick up. I have been going to Utopia Optometry for the last couples years. Recently I got my contact lens exam there again and I am glad I went back. The store implemented policies for covid such as mask policy and social distancing. On top of that, they would sanitize frames and pens which other patients had tried on / touched. Talking to the Dr, he mentioned they try to spread out the patients' appointments so that they can take the time to clean and sanitize after each patient, and to ensure there won't be a big group of patients waiting in the store at the same time, even though that means they would have less patients able to come in (meaning less business). This is a big plus to me because it means they put the patient's (and staff's) safety first. Dr. Liu is professional and caring. He really takes the time to examine and listen to my concerns. This is without a doubt my favorite place to come for my eye exams and glasses. You can always count in Rosie, Rachel and their staff to greet you when you walk in their doorway. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Dr Liu never rushes through his examinations. He takes his time when explaining the reasons for certain examinations and procedures. Super cool nice Doctor (Dr. Liu) very patience and detail while taking care and checking on my Dad (senior). But very poor associates, really lazy (on first visit the associate initial "R" told me to check it myself for my parents insurance instead of she checked on it, even until she told me to ask the old place to find out). I did it anyway due to this for my parent and called them let them know the insurance information (who ever answered my call that person OK and does her job, greatly followed up and they called me left me voicemail that anything on the cost of over the limit from insurance, they will honor 20-25% off for what we have pay out of pocket!!! Associate initial "M"). Again when we came the 2nd time to make the glasses, another lies/break the promise or can't keep it they words!!! They said OH No, we can't do that! No 20-25% off on what you need to pay out of pocket, I still save the voicemail and let them heard it but they still said NO!!! (Another associate initial "K") What a nice set up trap to the customer. Nothing wrong with the Doctor at all, very sad! We do like the doctor (very Professional Doctor) and want to continue as his regular patient (Specially Me/both my parents are wearing glasses) but can't handle people lies and lazy don't to do they job and tell they patients instead to do they works!!! The staff was great, answered all our questions, and took care of us to make sure we were 100% happy with everything. Our prescription sunglasses were badly damaged 1 week after we got them.
