I saw Dr. Magdato and he took his time and did a great job fine tuning my prescription to improve issues that I have been having the past year. In all my years, I have never bought prescription glasses, and had never before researched or experimented with frame styles suitable for my face, or costs, or anything else about the process. I was a real newbie, and was not shy about letting the staff at West Village Optometry know this when I walked in "to look around" and consider these things for the first time ever. Although I had not intended to do anything beyond becoming an educated consumer when I stepped into the store that day, all of the staff there were so welcoming, knowledgeable, patient, and low pressure, that by the time I left an hour or two later, I'd pulled the trigger and ordered a pair. They have not yet arrived, but I am very excited to test them out with my customized lenses when they do! I can only say good things about West Village Optometry so far. I had my first appointment today at West Village Optometry, after not having visited an optometrist in probably around 7 years. I was weary about scheduling something during COVID, but I did not want to continue to neglect my eyes; I decided to go for it and schedule an appointment, after walking in earlier this week and assessing their space. I had a very positive experience, so much so, that I spent twice the amount of time in there than I intended to do at first. I honestly wanted to be in and out of there as quickly as I possibly could (due to COVID), but it was difficult to do so with the way things went for me that day. Dr. Annelynn Cajayon was extremely attentive, and as odd as it is to say, I felt connected to her with the way she treated me. She seems to genuinely take interest in her patients and makes them feel very comfortable... at least that was my experience with her! She was wonderful, and I really enjoyed our conversation during my exam! Not only did I enjoy our conversation, but I also love how she took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions regarding my exam. It is difficult to find a provider whose staff is also great, but her staff was also amazing! Jessica was extremely helpful and patient with me as I picked out my frames... I wanted the sexy librarian vibe (I know, I'm terrible!), and she helped humor my ridiculous request! When I couldn't decide, she got the other staff to help me figure out what looked best. They were all amazing, and just extremely helpful! I honestly would have ordered multiple sets, but I had to control myself. Oh, and as far as COVID precautions, all the staff was wearing masks the entire time, and properly! The equipment was sanitized in front of me before it was used on me during the exam, and all the frames I tried on, I put down on a tray so that they are sanitized after my having touched them. This office is awesome! The office staff is very helpful and patient with me and my family, especially with my young kids. The doctors are very thorough with my eye exams compared to the other optometrists I've seen before. Since I have a high prescription, I have lots of questions and concerns with my eye health, and Dr Cajayon always takes time to answer my questions. The doctors are also very good with the kids, makes sure that the experience is a positive one, let's me stay with the kids during their exam, and keeps me informed of the results of their exam. I don't have much experience with optometrists but my fiance and I just moved to Pomona and needed to find a whole new set of doctors. He found this one and due to the good reviews, we gave it a shot. I walked the dog around while he spend over an hour for a basic examination and he probably asked the doctor everything under the sun including how to keep himself from being dizzy, new contacts, etc. The fiance really like the doctor and the receptionist even gave our dog a treat while I was waiting around. When you finally find that perfect restaurant and everything is perfect... and then, there's a hair in your food. This is how to best describe my current situation... I love this place, the service, the selection of frames... but my latest experience... has me in limbo... PARKING: There's parking on street and in parking structure across street. PLACE: Has high end brand frames and a good selection. CUSTOMER SERVICE: On point. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by someone and asked if assistance is needed. PROBLEM: Finally ordered my glasses. I came back 2 to 3 times in search of the brand and style i had in mind for a while. When I went to pick them up, I informed the lady that my left eye was not clear, and that my vision was blurry. She said my eyes would get used to it. I walked out at 4 PM wearing my new glasses. By 930, my eyes were sooo exhausted i took off my glasses and went to sleep. NEXT MORNING, i had the worst headache imaginable. I could not keep my eyes open from discomfort in both my eyes. Went to put on my glasses- one of the arms was loose. Went back to place, screw is missing, they can't find it, had to reorder my glasses. TOP IT OFF: lady says I shouldn't have worn my glasses in the afternoon with a new prescription. WHY DIDN'T THE LADY TELL ME THAT WHEN I PICKED THEM UP. I literally walked out with them ON MY FACE! I was in such discomfort and it could have potentially been averted. FAST FORWARD: i finally get a call letting me know that i can come in and look at other frames that are to come in similar to mine. I took the afternoon off, i get a call at 6:30..."Frames didn't come in, sorry". AND THAT WAS IT... no other call to update me on my situation. INCONVENIENT. I have been going to west village optometry for over 10 plus years. And I have received nothing but the most pleasant experience. The office is well lit, very clean, and the staff are PROFESSIONALS. But they also make sure that we are taken care off. And the optometrists are one of the best. Last year, Dr Cajayon diagnosed that I have cataract in my left eye. She recommended I see an eye surgeon specialist. Even after a thorough consultation with the eye surgeon. Dr Cajayon still made herself available for all my questions. And it was the best decision I have made with my vision. I had cataract surgery and the eye surgeon also replaced the natural lens on my eye. My vision is now perfect, and I no longer have to wear a contact lens on my left eye. I could have not move forward with the surgery without her recommendations. Highly recommended!! read more

I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this Optometry is. It is baffling how difficult it is to find a good Optometrist. I have gone through 8 Optometrists that I can remember in a span of 6 years; in what was a string of horrible experiences that left me a bit leery of Optometrists. So in saying all this, I cannot express how AMAZING West Village Optometry is. I opened a Yelp account just to review them. The staff is incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. Dr. A. Cajayon is without a doubt the BEST Optometrist I have EVER had and I have worn glasses for about 20 years. Another reviewer mentioned it and I didn't think it would happen but...I met Dr. A. Cajayon and I instantly felt welcomed and less than half way through my appointment I felt like she was my best friend. She is highly professional but it is the warmth and kindness she exudes that is missing from many physicians that leaves you with a smile. As far as the eye exam is concerned, she is incredibly thorough, explaining each step and its purpose. It wasn't until today, when Dr. A. Cajayon was giving me the details regarding my prescription that she told me that I had a slight astigmatism. It was highly surprising to me since my previous doctors hadn't bothered to mention it. Nor had they done anything besides hand me the prescription card. I'm just astounded. This is what eye care should be. One of the things that I find most important when selecting an optometry is the level of customer service and friendliness of the office staff as well as the optometrist's competency and engagement with his/her patients. At West Village Optometry...you get a nice mixture of both! They have friendly staff who offers top-notch customer service and they're super helpful in showing me all the ultra-chic frames and glasses. But more importantly, they have two optometrists (Dr. A. Cajayon & Dr. M. Magdato) who are both knowledge and competent in their area of practice but also take their time to explain everything to each patient. Although I missed their Grand Opening, they frequently offer trunk shows and other fun events to show case their newest arrival of products (offering every designer under the sun (no pun intended)...Lafont, Gucci, Dior, Channel, Coach, etc.). I've recently snubbed a pair of great Dior sunglasses for me and another one for my hubby, both for unbelievably amazing prices. Great place if you're a designer sunglass freak like me who needs a new pair every 3-6 months without breaking the bank! West Village Optometry definitely has my seal of approval...even if they are located over 1 hour where I live. They're worth the drive! read more

I deleted my original yelp,for a more detailed review. I purchased a pair of Gucci perscription glasses from this office. Just a few weeks later (my fault) my puppy chewed my glasses and frames beyond repair. I was getting ready to travel and called the office in tears. The staff advised me to bring the glasses in. When I arrived one of the employees was most helpful and was trying to squeeze the destroyed lenses into some frames that might work. Unfortunetly nothing worked, she made a call to lens crafters to see if they had the frames. She told me that my glasses were covered 1 time under a 1yr warranty and that I could get the glasses from Lens crafters and when the new ones came in I could return the others. I was surprised yet pleased that my insurance (her words) offered a free 1 time replacement warranty. At that she said I also could do 2.50 cheaters until they came in. This was my choice since buying and returning a set of glasses was not something I was comfortable with. She was surprised that I was even able to get the original glasses with her words an expired perscription. ( dr. said it wasnt expired)? I ran to CVS and purchased 2 pairs of 2.50 cheaters to hold me over until the new glasses came in. 2-3 weeks or so into this I called the office to see if my new glasses had come in. I was told a bit abrutly that she had no idea what I was talking about and would call me back?? The next day I recieved a call from the office with a rude and abrupt demeanor the " your glasses were not approved and if I wanted to come in and purchase a new pair". As I tried to ask questions and inform them that I was told about a 1 time 1yr replacement warranty, she continued to repeat herself and over speak me. "Like I said you can come in and purchase a new pair". She was so rude I informed her to cancel my husbands appointment and as she overspoke me had to hang up on her, I waited a few days to let this settle and then put in a call for the Dr. to call me back. The Dr. called me back at the end of the day, which was fine, I assumed she was busy. However I was a bit shocked to hear that she had a conversation with her employee about this situation and her husband and read my yelp and NEVER reached out to me BEFORE me reaching out to the office. Honestly she was polite and apologetic for her employee but stated I demanded new glasses?? This never happened. I told her I didnt get the employees name, yet she stated she didnt know who it was yet that I demanded glasses?? As I stated she was polite but made no attempt to correct the MISTAKE HER employee made by offering me new glasses. I would have been happy with the least expensive pair just to resolve this matter. She offered me a "friends" discount for her employees mistake. Over and above I have been without glasses for weeks and the eye stain from the cheaters is overwhelming. Had her employee told me the correct information I would have ordered new glasses right then when I had orginally brought them in. Dr. also advised me if I came in I would not be dealing with the employee ?? Thought she didnt know who it was? GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE MEANS FOLLOWING BEST PRACTICES LIKE VALUING CUSTOMERS TIME, HAVING A PLEASANT ATTITUDE, AND PROVIDING KNOWLEDGEABLE AND RESOURCES, BUT THAT YOU ALSO TAKE THINGS A STEP FURTHER TO EXCEED-RATHER THEAN JUST MEET -EXPECTATIONS.
