I always dread having to get glasses or contacts, however, this place made it easy, affordable and fast. They were very accommodating to my schedule and never had me wait to be seen. The tests for a new prescription was quick. The doctor was very honest and straightforward. He was genuine with his concerns and gave me good advice. I'm too stubborn to actually take a doctor's advice, so it's nothing personal that my eyes are always itching and feel like they're on fire. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lu. I have been going to see Dr. Lu for 15+ years now and I can not say enough great things about him and his staff. Everyone is very professional and friendly. You never have to wait long to be seen for your appointment. If you have questions he takes his time to answer them and he's very thorough with his exams, never rushing you out the door. They dont schedule too many people at once so he has time to focus on his patient without making the next patient have to wait. I no longer live close to Dr. Lu's office but I am more than willing to make the drive each year because he is hands down the best optometrist I have ever gone to. Dr. Lu has been my optometrist for more than 25 years now (from when he had a location inside the Sears store at the Montclair Plaza). It's great to have a doctor that you can always trust and treats you like family every time you see him. Dr. Lu takes his time during your check-up and makes sure he covers everything with you. I had a very nice experience at Dr. Lu's office today and am happy to make him my new optometrist. When I first walked in, I noticed the office was very clean, well decorated, and organized. I was promptly greeted by a helpful staff member. She verified my insurance and informed me of my coverage, which I appreciate knowing right off the bat. After I had filled out the paperwork and got the preliminary eye tests (the eye blower, the blurry house, etc) out of the way, I got to meet Dr. Lu. He is a very nice man who makes you feel comfortable, even when he's thisclose to your face staring into your eyes. I felt that he was knowledgeable and kind. He answered all my questions and I felt I could speak openly with him. When I asked about laser eye surgery (which I must admit, I kinda really do want), he explained why he would advise against it for me personally given my medical history, etc, which I appreciate. And you know what? He's right. I appreciate that he didn't push a pricy or possibly harmful procedure when he got the chance just because I wanted it. He also didn't push "fancy" features for my glasses that I didn't need. I really feel like I can trust him, and that's what I want in a doctor, so I'm really happy with him. After my eye exam, the same person who helped me earlier helped me with my choice of glasses. She was also helpful without being pushy, and was clear with what my insurance would and would not cover. Overall, I left the office feeling very happy with my experience and I will definitely be referring my family and friends to Dr. Lu. read more

Just had an eye exam on Monday and was very impressed with Dr. Lu and his new office. I found this place while going to Firestone tires across the street from the Montclair Plaza Mall. It's been awhile since my last eye exam but I don't remember ever having such a thorough test. Dr. Lu was great and his staff were very friendly. The office looked very modern with a large selection of frames. I ordered a pair of Raybans and I can't wait to get them back next week. I found this place online when I was searching for a near by office that will take my IEHP insurance. They gave me an appointment right away. The front desk lady was very friendly and polite. The optometrist was also very friendly and knowledgeable. Since I have gestational diabetes, I notice a change in the eyesight that concerned me, but he answered all my questions and put me at ease. My eyesight hasn't changed significantly just very minor due to my gestational diabetes. I wanted to continue using my favorite eyeglasses and for them just to change the lence, but he didn't want to and though he can convince me easily to get new frames and get them anti glare out of my pocket. Well, if my insurance dont pay it, then I dont want it period. There is no point in getting glasses now thst I'm pregnant when once I give birth my vision will change again and it's another expense since my insurance will only pay once a year. read more

Dr. Lu and team are just fantastic. I was immediately impressed with the office itself as it's modern, super clean and stocked with a large variety of frames to choose from. More importantly, everyone there was very friendly and nothing but helpful. They use a number of newer machines for the exam and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. After picking up my glasses, which were done in 5 days (the only downside compared to places like Lens Crafters that do same-day), I had to go back a few times for adjustments (due to my crooked face lol). I started feeling like a nuisance but they made it clear that they were there to help, not rush me out the door. Waste of my time & money = 1/2 day of work! B4 u drive 45 miles in 2 hours of traffic to this optometrist make sure they verify the correct insurance provider. They had a week to verify my insurance & get back to me to let me know my insurance didn't qualify. Instead they wait until I get there to tell me. All because "a receptionist" took my insurance id number incorrectly by one digit. Their stupid mistake was at my expense, stress & raise in blood pressure!! read more
