Recently I had seriously injured my eye while doing some gardening and by the next morning I realized I needed professional medical attention. I went to Dr. Kim's office to arrange for an examination. While Dr. Kim was not in at the time, her employee, Scott, immediately contacted her by phone in an effort to have me seen late that afternoon. While Dr. Kim was out of town at the time, Scott was able to secure an appointment with Dr. Kim the following morning. Impressive! After examining my eye and generating a prescription for an immediate pick up, Dr. Kim insisted that in the future if any vision-related injuries arise I should immediately text the office, even if it is after-hours. She explained that, as a habit, she will review text messages after-hours and is very willing to meet with a patient, on an emergency basis, to avoid the risk of any long-term vision damage. Several days after my initial visit Dr. Kim then reached out to me via a follow-up email to confirm that I was healing properly and that the injury had been alleviated. This is an impressive level of personalized professional care, especially in view of the general state of healthcare throughout Southern California. Thank you Dr. Kim and your staff.

I'm not one to change a provider lightly, but I could not be happier to say I found one and that the reviews on Yelp are 100% accurate when it comes to Dr. Kim. If you care about genuine and personal customer service, and forming a real relationship with the people who take care of your health, this is the place to go. The level of service was unparalleled and they are friendly and thorough. I had insurance but assumed I had already used my benefits since I purchased contacts elsewhere less than a year prior. They took the time to check my insurance, saw I had benefits that could be applied, explained the benefits, and went through the benefits to see which could get me the best discount. I ended up getting contact lenses, frames, and lenses. Dr. Kim not only knows what she's doing in her profession, but she truly cares about her patients. She shows it by the time she spends to conduct her exam and to talk to you. It feels like a rarity these days to find this type of care, but it's a relief to see it still exists. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for my annual exam this year. I'd been…read moredebating switching optometrists for a while, so I was encouraged when I saw the reviews. First, the staff is very friendly and professional. From the phone call to make the appointment to greeting me upon my arrival, I was impressed. The location is also bright and spacious. I saw Doctor Yu. He was so sweet. He was very thorough and even gave me a miniature biology lesson on my eyes. He explained everything, didn't rush through the exam, and put my nerves at ease. I was very impressed with his bedside manner. However, I was very uncomfortable when my eyes were dilated. Typically, I've received numbing drops to counter the stinging side effect from the dilation drops. I didn't receive that here. I felt like the doctor used a large amount of dilation drops and it was really painful. My eyes were pretty much dilated for the rest of the evening. They did supply some pretty cool little shades for my eye glasses to protect my eyes from the sun once I left. I also was disappointed they don't offer a vision field test during the routine exam. Finally, I was surprised that I was charged a sitting fee for my contact lenses. I questioned this since I've worn the same prescription for about a decade and they were even keeping me in the same brand of lens. I was told that the charge is only once a year. Yes, well, so is the exam. I didn't receive any additional service or benefit from this fee, it was just an additional charge. I'm not sure I'll return here for my next exam, which is a pity because there were some very big positives, but also some sizable negatives from my experience.
