The service was great too, and everyone took good care of us. I ordered a Blue Hawaiian, and we shared the lobster dip. The dip was okay--it was a little too cream cheese-heavy for me, and I would've loved a stronger lobster flavor, but it was still worth trying. One of the highlights was the Roll the Dice challenge on the menu! Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're feeling lucky. Hopefully you have better luck than I did Overall, we had a really fun night and it was a great spot to bring friends who were visiting!

We got seated at the bar and just ordered a few items off the happy hour menu. We ordered the voodoo fried rice, smoked trout dip, and we ordered 16 oysters. The fried rice was great! I love that it was a little spicy. It was a good size of split between the 2 of us. The dip was also pretty good and had a good Smokey flavor. We ordered 16 oysters ($2.50/ea) and got 8 buck & rider, 4 Hama Hama, and 4 Hollywood. They all were really good. I think I liked the buck & rider and Hollywood the most. Service was really quick as we were sitting at the bar so they were pretty attentive. The dishes came out pretty quickly after we ordered. It was a little loud in the restaurant so it was kind of hard to hear each other but that's ok because they were pretty full so that's to be expected.

Sometimes seating is difficult with a larger party, as the tables and seating seem a little compact. There are tons of drinks in their menu to choose from. For a speakeasy, I think their pricing is very comparable, and really did not feel as if it was overpriced. The first time I came here I ordered a bees knees cocktail, and last time I enjoyed a generously poured glass of prosecco. I love the atmosphere, location, pricing, and service at this speakeasy. I did appreciate that the speakeasy was below ground and required a password. I do think it's odd that when making a reservation online, you are not prompted on how to retrieve the password. Thank goodness my friend receives the emails and let me know ahead of time what to say. You enter down a long hallway and wait at a bookcase that opens. It kind of feels like forever because there's nowhere to go and could create a little bit of potential claustrophobia/panic for people who may be sensitive to those types of environments. The drink menu was good but I really wasn't wowed. They did offer three mocktails which wasn't really impressive and the cocktails did include a variety of liquors and flavor profiles but again, wasn't as extensive or interesting as some other speakeasies around town. The food menu was very disappointing - a lot of dairy and bread - pretzels with cheese, flatbread, queso with chips, and "rabbit food" - hummus with bread and vegetables. We asked to have all vegetables instead of bread and they did accommodate with a generous helping of full-size rainbow carrots and cherry tomatoes. We actually ran out of hummus before we could finish the vegetables. I understand elevated pricing for the aesthetic/experience but I did think the pricing here was a little bit high for what was received.

Our booth was sticky when we sat down and after asking a few times for someone to wipe it off, they finally handed us a rag and had us do it ourselves. They also messed up our order and charged us for a full pizza instead of the kids pizza we ordered. The beer tower we got didn't work, and when they replaced it, it looked like they just poured the beer into another one while spilling a lot of it. Then one of the kids had a fly in their drink and nobody really seemed to care. They brought it out that way. Just wasn't a great experience overall and we probably won't be back.

Disappointing Anniversary Dinner - Expected More for the Price…read more My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here after getting recommendations from friends who spoke highly of the place. Since we're in the Gilbert area, we loved the idea of a great steakhouse without the drive to Scottsdale. We went in with high expectations -- we're no strangers to special occasion dining, so we knew what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in almost every way. The ambience and service felt more like a polished chain restaurant than the upscale dining experience the prices suggest. For a $300-$400 dinner for two, you expect a certain level of attentiveness and flow -- and we just didn't get it. After our appetizers, we noticed we never received the pretzel bread everyone raves about. When I asked our waiter, he said they had just finished baking a fresh batch. When it arrived, it was cold -- so that clearly wasn't the case. We also had to flag our waiter down to take our entrée order, which shouldn't happen at this price point. My steak was fine -- just fine. My wife's fish was the same. Nothing memorable, nothing that made us feel like the bill was justified. By the end of the meal we were both ready to leave. Our waiter did offer a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture, but we were already checked out mentally and chose to go somewhere else to finish the evening on a better note. If you're in the East Valley looking for a truly special dinner, I'd honestly just make the drive to Mastro's Oceans Club or Steak 44.

It was hot, to no fault of the place, but I had a bit of swamp *** by the end of the meal. Drinks were designer. Which is fun, but you dont always truly know what youre getting. My drink said it was smoky and it indeed had a smoky taste to it. Different. They so have beer too, but it is not the standard Coors or Bud Light. As for food, lots going into presentation. Lots of dishes coming out in a smoky bell jar. I got the NY steak, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Potatoes and asparagus was terrific. For the steak, it was not bad but admittedly im not into cuts that have large fat caps. The cook and the flavoring were fine but nothing mind blowing, especially compared to the potatoes and asparagus. Service was friendly. Served from bar. They let you enjoy your food without constantly asking you gow things were. Honestly kind of reminded me of European type service which was welcome as quite frankly American service comes too often.

Seriously, the cook in the back deserves a standing ovation for what's coming out of that kitchen. The flavor, the freshness, the balance--it was flat-out amazing. Pair that with an ice-cold beer that actually comes out cold (looking at you, half-hearted draft pours elsewhere), and you've got yourself a win. Service was a little stretched thin since the bartender was also running tables, but she handled it well enough.
