This place is a cozy lovechild between a high-end steakhouse and an intimate, classy, American restaurant. Older crowd. American food on the menu, all familiar items. Server wasn't super familiar with wine selections and did not have any recommendations, which was a little disappointing...but hey, not everyone has that advice to give! We went the day before Valentine's Day and the place was booked. Overall, had a pleasant experience. Would go back to hang out at the small bar! Apparently there's a bartender still working who has been there since they opened 20 years ago - I'm sure he has stories to tell! read more

Been here many times. Great for birthdays and holidays. Highly recommend! Definitely check it out.

I really enjoyed my first visit to Smitty's for dinner with gfs! I've been to the reputable Arroyo Chop House restaurant in the area, which is owned by the same owners. Valet parking in the back for $5. The restaurant is dim and lovely, and would be a nice date spot. There's also a large bar. Smitty's offers delicious American comfort food with items such as their Iron Skillet Cornbread, famous Chicken Pot Pie, Rattlesnake BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Crab Louie Salad, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese, and so much more to choose from! We also ordered their special carrot cake dessert, which was pretty good. Our server had forgotten our cornbread muffins during our dinner, so they brought us a complimentary order of extra muffins when we reminded the server about our original order. That was so kind. We appreciated the gesture greatly!!! My favorite dishes were the pot pie and salad, my least favorite was probably the chicken (some pieces were a bit on the dry side). I didn't really care for the Mac & Cheese very much, either. See you again soon, Smitty's!! read more

I wanted to give thank you too, Luciano. Luciano last night you made our first interaction with you memorable. You are very personable and very customer oriented, and speaking to your manager about you and hearing that customers are saying the same thing made me smile. Luciano, you are a great addition to Smitty's team. My mom and I look forward to you taking care of us again. read more

Delicious, comforting food. I've been coming here for many years and hope to continue to come here many more.

A Pasadena gem. Always a crowd pleaser with my family and friends for special occasions and other celebrations. Rib eye is my favorite. Tomahawk rib is also great. I wish they would bring back a dessert - butterscotch pudding. read more

Of late it isn't that easy to find a steakhouse that is at the top of their game. Smitty's is one of those places. Absolutely 100% across the board. The service was excellent and the food was beyond... Do yourself a favor and visit Smitty's. You will not be disciplined. read more

My favorite restaurant in SGV. Always good food, classy atmosphere, great customer service, and reasonable price. Start off your meal with their fresh baked corn bread and potato chips. The trout with sage butter is delicious. Pot pie is bigger than my head! Don't change anything...especially the price, please! read more

Tried for the first time and was extremely disappointed. The female bartender was so busy flirting with a customer at the top of the bar that the rest of us were ignored for more than an hour. We had to ask repeatedly for basics like beverages, cutlery, side plates, etc. The Cioppino was good but I can't say the same about the crabcakes or pot pie. We came in on today because of the carolers and they didn't even sing one song that we could hear. So surprising given the high caliber of Arroyo and Parkway. Better off at Bistro 45 around the corner. read more

Always love coming to Smitty's when I'm in town. Good ambiance and very good food. Wish then would bring back their tuna melt though!

Wow!! amazing service the waiters go above and beyond to ensure you have all you need and in a timely manner. My office and i came for an early Chrismas lunch and drinks and absolutely had a great time. The service was great and we loved the food very much. I had a petite steak medium well and the spinach , it was so tender and tasteful. The restaurant was just beautiful we had a great time and will be back soon. read more

Pre pandemic this place was always 5 stars, but a little has been lost since. I think the service has declined a bit, particularly outside. The food is still very solid but if you sit on the patio, prepare for very long intervals with little to no interaction. Our food was sitting for a bit also, it seemed like. It took forever to get drinks but the bus boys are still on it. The fish is always good and fresh and well prepared. Hopefully we've just had an off night or two or a newer server or something. The service has always been impeccable in the past. Hopefully I can update this with the missing start next round. read more

The prime rib was too dried and it wasn't medium. ! The cioppino was not even close to average. The broth was salty and thick like it had too much tomato paste. Shrimps were tiny and not even one scallop! read more

Dreadful customer service. I had a party of 20 for private dining which would've meant 4K$+ for the restaurant; but though I called twice and left full information, no one could be bothered to give me the courtesy of a return call. They must not need the business. read more

Loved it, loved it, loved it! Went there last night for New Year's Eve dinner, could not have been more pleased! Food was great, service was excellent and of course the drinks were great! cant wait to go back!! If you plan on going, I suggest not dinning in the backroom, sit in the main room! Thank you Gregg for READING my review! Your attention to detail is much appreciated! read more

I had the prime rib plate with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots, only on the dinner menu. The plate was decent enough. The prime rib was tender and cooked just right. The mashed potatoes and carrots were okay and did not particularly stand out. I also had the Cesar salad, which was okay. For appetizers, we had the iron skillet cornbread, but it was rock hard. It wasn't all that great, so I recommend to skip out on it. Staff was very accommodating and nice. They happily refilled drinks and checked up on us periodically. The restaurant was decorated with an old world charm and had a 1950s or earlier look to it. Unless you valet park, parking is going to be a real pain here since they have a very small lot in the back that's mainly valet parking. The restaurant is off a very busy street, Lake Ave. I believe there's metered parking not too far away if you want to be on the frugal side. Overall, I think smitty's is acceptable. The food to the restaurant is certainly not cheap. Go for the cuts of meat and skip out on the appetizers if you want to get the most bang for your buck. Main dish of prime rib was good. Appetizers were mediocre. read more

Foolproof choice for a Saturday night. We went with regulars and maybe our service was influenced by familiarity but it was great! Luis was attentive, informative and described the specials in a way that I knew I was having the cowboy rib eye with the bleu cheese cream sauce. It was excellent. We were bringing our teen grandson for his first LA steakhouse experience and Smitty's didn't disappoint. He chose the New York strip and went about conquering it over the next 20 minutes or so! Winner! My wife had the chicken pot pie and was astonished by the size and thankful for the flavor and quality. The cioppino, striped bass and smokehouse burger received an affirmative nod from the regulars. With the rest of the table we had the beef carpaccio appetizer and crème brûlée for dessert. All done beyond expectations. The parting hugs from Judy, Judy, Judy was the only thing that exceeded the sweetness of the butterscotch pudding! Can't wait to come back to town and Smitty's Grill. read more

Excellent place for dinner especially if you are celebrating a birthday or anniversary! Very nice with a good atmosphere! We always come here for their Prime Rib which is always done right! We like ours medium rare which is tender and pink! It comes with mashed potatoes and we ordered 2 sides. Vegetable of the season: grilled brussel sprouts with bacon which was delicious! And spinach with garlic was also very tasty! For some reason, we got french fries with our prime rib tonight! What a treat! Thin, skinny crispy french fries that were so addicting! We were completely satisfied so didn't order any dessert. But my daughter has had a delicious peach cobbler/crisp as a dessert which she has raved about so much!! If they had that, I would have definitely tried it no matter how full I was!! read more

Good food and environment! A nice place to go with family and friends! Friendly services!

Great in all respects but a little dark! I would have liked more lighting. Otherwise 5 stars!

Rude and Unaccommodating hostesses! I made reservations for a party of 2 and upon arrival we were told we could get seated early since we had arrived 30 min early. The place was pretty much empty so I asked to be seated in a booth or near a booth and the hostesses told me they couldn't seat me in either spot because they were reserved for people who requested to be seated inside yet I was one of those people. Instead they tried seating me outside which I refused. The hostess then proceeded to sit us next to the bar and behind their cleaning table which was an uncomfortable spot to sit at with all the traffic from the bar and waiters. Don't understand their seating logic at this place. Food Review: I ordered the trout plate that says it comes with seasonal vegetables (which to me means a medley) however, it only comes with 1 vegetable which is sautéed spinach. The trout was bland and to top it off comes with the skin. I would not recommend this place or come here again! read more

We celebrated our Anniversary here. We were treated to an Anniversary Card to start out our meal... The food and service only got better from there!!! We found the Price/Quality ratio to be very acceptable. We will be regulars here for sure!!! read more

Short Review: A great local restaurant with a nice selection of food. Menu changes twice a year, so they try to keep it fresh. Wine selection is just ok, but I'm a wine snob so take that for what its worth. Long Review: This is a Smith Bros. restaurant, and if you're familiar with them, you know you're getting good ambiance and a quality meal. Smitty's has been around a long time, so yes its mostly snow birds and families. This isn't the hipster spot you'll find in Eagle Rock or elsewhere, but it is a nice place to have a relaxing dinner. The wine list is ok, and they have a full bar. This place is ripe to revisit its wine selection, and retrain their bartenders to serve hand-crafted cocktails instead of the classic Sidecar drinks they've perfected. But hey, I guess they're playing to their audience. Like I said, quality food so you can't go wrong with what you get. I think one of the best things on the menu is the salmon salad. Very good and filling, with the right mix of ingredients to make it well-balanced. The one thing reservation I have with Smitty's is the inconsistency of the wait staff. Some are super friendly, and some are just calling it in. But if you can get past that, this is a fine dining experience. Minus two stars for the limited wine selection and the just ok staff attitudes. read more

My order of fries came cold, the ribs were over sauced with less meat on them. Overall the cornbread and Mac n cheese with ham was delicious Also I ordered two sides of chives and those were forgotten for the baked potato. What's a baked potato with the works without chives? Also the cheese on the side for the baked potato was soggy and looked like ramen cooked up. But, on a high note the sour cream was delicious. Not sure if it is store bought or home made... Didn't see the lobster roll on the menu which was always yummy. read more

It's been a few years since I frequented this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was not very good and certainly not what remembered. I ordered green salad and Cioppino ( seafood stew) . The salad had the wrong dressing so I sent it back. They brought another but all they did was pour another dressing on top so it tasted really bad. The Cioppino was way too sweet and probably the worst I've ever had. My friend ordered meatloaf and mashed potatoes. She said both were not good. Snother friend ordered Chicken Picatta. She said the breading was too thick and the chicken was very thin. The appetizers were a bit better but not by much. Our waiter was friendly and responsive to our table but for the price, I would not go there again. They need a new chef! read more
