So... Let me tell you how these people work. We had 3 storages there from the time they opened. When Rosie was there running the Wildomar branch, it was the best. Everything was sparkling clean, with Rosie doing the cleaning herself most of the time. Rosie would also go up the chain of command to get us the best prices when needed.
As soon as she was transferred, and Tom took over, things started going downhill. The bathroom is always dirty, the floors in there are filthy, and the trash is rarely empty. There was dirt on the floor in the halls that was never there before.
But that is not even the best part of this review. You see we were paying roughly $7500 for 3 units, which is mind blowingly expensive to begin with. We pay a year in advance. So, there is no calls or e-mails that have to be made to make sure we paid our storage. No paperwork whatsoever. When we took stuff out of our units to go through, and maybe left some paper or something in the hallway, we would go borrow the broom to clean up after ourselves. We were model tenants.
We were told that if we came in before our contract expired, then the prices would be the same. We went in at the end of July and spoke with Jenny and Destiny (who is the district manager). We talked with both of them, and Destiny said they forgot to add our free month (they used to give a free month if you paid a year in advance. So, she personally said that if we were to come in by the end of August, then we would not have a rate increase. Keep in mind, we were already paying $7500. My husband and I came in on the 28th of August of 2024. The first words out of Jenny's mouth was your storage has gone up. I said to her " Jenny, you were here. You and Destiny said there were notes in my account that if we were here by the end of August that the prices would not raise." Being the spoiled, entitled millennium that Jenny is: She said: and I quote: you are raising your voice at me, (which I was not, as my husband would have been the very first person to tell me that). She said" I feel threatened by you, and this sign behind me says I can refuse service to anyone. I am not going to go back and forth with you. Come back when Tom is here. I said ok, remind me of the district manager's name(I could not think of it at that time). Oh, I can't tell you that she says. REALLY? I asked for her name, not her personal phone number and address. I guess this is CIA affiliated that she can't tell me the district manager's name.
(This is how this should have been handled: Jenny says yes we did record that, and Destiny did say that. I will have her call you, or someone higher up than Destiny to call you.)
The next day we come in to talk with Tom. Jenny comes running out of the office and says, if you are going to whisper, you can say it to my face. I told her flat out that I won't say anything to him that I would not say to her face. The way she was talking to customers both times, she should have been fired on the spot. I come from Oklahoma, and people there don't put up with that kind of attitude towards customers.
Tom said oh you have to call the corporate office. I did that up to 5 times. Destiny would not call me back. Tom did not want involved. She was not going to honor what she told me. Supposedly she called from a private number. Would not leave a message, and I did not have a number to call her back. She did this to cover her butt to say she called me.
Tom, grow a pair. Even Tom said when Jenny went out to the units, that it must be a generational thing. But you chose to do nothing about it. You should have fired Jenny on the spot. Jenny, buckle up buttercup, cause you are in for a rude awakening. Life is going to hit you like a ton of bricks, and you are not going to have a clue on how to handle it.
Also when Alexandra worked there, a drunk and stoned guy was yelling and threatening her. My husband stepped in to help her, and this is what we get.
This is why they wanted us out. See even though we paid by the year, they wanted to make more on each storage unit. I have proof of that. About 5 min. after we checked out, the largest one we had went up roughly 27%. The other's also. When we pay by the year, they are not able to raise the prices. Also no late fees, as we were never late.
We have moved out. When we went to get our receipts, Tom wanted to know what the issue was? Really Tom, I have to spell it out for you? Jenny was a b..... You don't have a spine. Your district manager is a liar, and then would not own what she told us.
But in the end, the joke is on Smith Ranch Storage. We saved $3900 moving out from them, and we have 350 square feet more. And the security is way better. We were told when we moved into Smith Ranch that there would be key pads on the doors to the inside units, and that never happened. read more
