Best smashed burger in LA! Great fries! Service is great and the 80s decor is fun. We've been a bunch of times and this place is great.

If you're hungry don't go there. Burgers are tiny! They were good but kid size! Also, you have to add all veggies for a small fee

I'm sad to say I was greatly disappointed on all fronts with both the quantity and quality of the food. I'll go more into detail about why. First off it's a pain to find parking on a Friday Night just to get into Downtown Burbank. That's struggle number one. Then you're surrounded by many great restaurants around you so if you do choose a restaurant, that restaurant has to stand out. I was shopping at IKEA and quickly yelped for a burger joint for my family and I. Sure there were tons of choices out there, but unlucky for me I chose Smashed Burgers. Ok, the reason why I wasn't too keen on this place was because of what you pay for and what you get. The I ordered a double or combo #2. They asked if I wanted lettuce and tomatoes, I said yes and bam extra charges of .50 per item. I was shocked to see this charge but what can I do right? Then you wait 30 min for your order and hope for the food to be piping hot. Burgers were ok temp and the fries were also lukewarm. The turnoff for me was the tiny burgers with super dried crispy meat Patties and fries that were fresh cut but tasted like they were fried with bad oil. Forget about getting the smashed fries, it's basically animal style fries with ground meat on top. Honestly, if I would have to choose, stick to Inn N Out where everything is fresh, piping hot and way cheaper with great flavors. Sad that I have to say this didn't even add up to a fast food restaurant. On a brighter note, I found the bakery across the street to be extremely high quality. Give Artelice patisserie a try. Amazing macarons and croissants. I will definitely go back to them. read more

I would give a 5/5 for the burger itself. They use the martins potato rolls for the buns which make all the difference. It comes as a basic burger with cheese and pickles. Any other thing you want to add is extra $. We got two double doubles with cheese fries and 2 waters. We paid $40.70. That's realy expensive for two burger combos. You would think cheese fries would have American cheese but they put nacho cheese. Nacho cheese and fries DO NOT mix. That's strictly for chips. Couldn't even eat my fries. At least mention to the customers that it's nacho cheese. There's plenty of seating and parking structures around. Anyways, if you're a smashed burger fan then yes try it but it's expensive compared other great ones I've tried. read more

I visit this location frequently for lunch. I have no issue with the food. My issue is with the service. I placed an order and when I went to pick it up, it was the wrong item. I let the cashier know and was told the transaction was canceled and a new order was placed/charged for the correct item. She told me I would see the refund within a few days. After waiting a few days and not seeing the refund, I went back to the establishment and informed the same cashier that I never received the refund. After some back and forth and claiming to not finding that particular transaction in the system she told me the manager would call me and of course that never happened. The dollar amount is minimal, it's the terrible attitude of the cashier that prompted this review. read more

This burger joint is 10/10. I get an old fashioned burger and fries every time I visit. The last trip included a Nutella milkshake, which was divine. The burgers are tasty, melty, smashed to perfection. I recommend ordering one meal and an additional burger to split between two people. They give you a LOT of fries when you get a meal. Do NOT skip the milkshake. I'd like to think I'll go for strawberry next time, but the Nutella flavor is locked in my mind. I ordered two double smash burgers for delivery from door dash and really enjoyed them. Since I did not visit the physical location, such details won't be included in this review. The burgers were a standard size for a smash burger, which tends to be slightly smaller than a traditional burger. I thought the bun/patty/pickle/onion/sauce ratios were solid and worked together to create a well balanced tasting burger. The doubles were quite filling even for someone who can eat large quantities of food like myself. I went with the doubles but there were also single and triple options available but for smash burgers I've noticed that a double works best. There are so many smash burger spots popping up everywhere these days, some are better than others but this spot is very clearly in the middle. You're not getting something wildly mind blowing or something inedible, you're getting a safe smash burger that tastes good and won't send you to bankruptcy court. I really liked this spot and will absolutely be ordering from here in the future. read more

Fist time at Smashburger in Burbank. I placed the order online and drove across town, actually just 4 miles away, since I was already in the San Fernando Valley. It was ready when I arrived. Of course when I got in the car, I had to try it and it was actually really good. I was surprised, it's a vegan burger with vegan sauce and what looks like vegan cheese but anyway, I got an order of their vegan smash fries and it's like an animal style concoction. These fries were really good while hot. All the good flavors were there for the burger but I think could have been more elaborate, with lettuce, tomato and onions would've sent it over the edge but it was still good. read more

The food is consistently good everytime. I can only eat a single smash, but I always add cheese fries but im never able to eat more than a few, lol yet I refuse to give them up. Service is typical, walk up order. The staff are helpful, nice, and patient. Ambiance is also great. Music is lively, fun and popular, it's very clean inside. Overall: I take a relaxing drive out from SFV to eat at smashed burger burbank... then walk it off by heading to the outdoor farmers market and mall. I've only been on weekends so parking isn't easy to get in front of the location but it's a nice walkable area. Therefore, since all my experiences have been consistently delicious, I will continue returning alone, and with friends and family. read more

We tried this place on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered a single combo which came with a single smash burger, fries, and a drink. We added on another single smash with bacon and another drink. Our total was $27. For the price and amount, we were content! It felt a little pricey but we know smaller, local restaurants are worth the price. The order also came with smashed sauce (like a ketchup+ranch mixed sauce?). The burger was pretty good. A single isn't too filling but the flavor and textures were great. And the fries were a good portion. More on the well done side. Our cashier was kind and helpful since it was our first time ordering. And the food came out pretty quickly. The restaurant gives an overall 80s/early 90s vibe, so it's cool to look at all the decor on the wall. Even though it was lunch time there wasn't a line and we had a spot to sit. Walking around the downtown Burbank businesses we came across Smashed. You cant miss it. Loud colors, loud sign... wait til you get inside. It's totally 80's inside complete with the cleanest payphone you ever did see. I should have checked if it was a working one. There are also boom boxes, GameBoys and those 1st generation cell phones placed on the walls as decorations. I went with a double old fashion smash burger combo ($14.75) and that comes with hand cut fries, a fountain drink and 2 patties. Old fashion has American cheese, kethup, mustard, pickles and raw onions. I liked the soft buns they use. Soft but still held up and didnt break apart. The 2 patties with cheese made for a good smash burger. Ketchup is always a yes for me. The raw onions were a little strong so I might go for caramelized ones next time. It was a good burger albeit on the small side. I may need a triple just to get full... A double should be enough to do that usually. I wished their patties were a little bigger than presently constructed. My lady got a chopped cheese combo ($19.75)... and that comes with the patty, caramelized onions and cheese all chopped together. This is served on a roll and comes with LT, pickles & house sauce. She liked her sammich and almost couldnt finish it all. Service was friendly, although a little on the slow side. It was Saturday night and I could see this place getting slammed. A group of 4 walked in right before us so we had to wait to order as they ordered/paid individually. Food was good, the interior is something else with artwork and graffiti style images on all the walls. The booths and counters were clean. AC is a little lacking. After a long day of strolling through IKEA we were not in the mood for Swedish meatballs. So we took our appetites to San Fernando Blvd and decided upon Smashed Burbank. Pretty interesting decor/vibe (80s & 90s) but I kinda liked it. The burgers were well seasoned and quite tasty. You can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients that translated well to the flavor of the burger. The bun (potato I believe) was a good compliment too as it was soft and just the right size. The fries were decent but were basically the sideshow to the burger itself. Street parking is what it is here. Indoor seating is surprisingly small but probably just enough for this place. Overall it's definitely worth a try and I do plan to comeback! read more

My girlfriend is vegan and so I've been to a number of such restaurants since we've been going out. This was one of my favorites. Karina answered all of our questions and was very helpful when ordering. I was shocked when I found out she wasn't the owner, because only the owner is usually this helpful. Their food is good and they have vegan and non vegan options. Good combos that incentivize you to add an extra burger at a reduced cost. We'll definitely be coming back here. I also loved all of the retro memorabilia on the walls, reminding me of my youth growing up! read more

Been meaning to stop here for a bit, but I rarely stop in downtown Burbank for faster fare, but while boozing it up at the bar down the street I made the decision to leave room in the gut for some smashed burgers! It's a Smallish, very clean diner joint with an 80's "Krush Groove" kinda street art and wall memorabilia vibe. Now, these are smash burgers, so don't know who'd be satisfied by a single, so do yourself a favor and get a double at least. The food was presented simply, but made with care and none of the food had an excess grease which was nice. The hand-cut fries always have a different flava and texture, and they were good but nothing special. The staff was nice and professional and efficient and the joint has a relaxing vibe to it. I'm from alhambra and i always come to burbank to get a haircut but this time i came with my girlfriend. We were hungry and i decided to look around yelp for something quick & yummy! We never had a smash burger before only heard of Bun B's in the south, so i really wanted to try it out. Definitely fresh and delicious Although i think the double is the standard if your use to regular burgers. Also if you don't devour fries, I recommend just adding on a burger as it's enough for two (make it cajun too my lord its amazing). If your looking for a quick bite on the go or just to sit down and munch for a bit, i would definitely recommend coming here especially because they got good music & fun scenery. read more

I tend to walk a lot in and around Burbank on my way to the restaurant. I saw the sign for Smashed LA and I LOVE BURGERS! So I decided that I would fry them as soon as I could. On a Friday night I passed by with my wife, my son and a few friends. I started off by ordering a triple smashed with some smashed fries. The smashed fries are like a Flying Dutchman from in and out minus the In & Out special sauce. My burger and fries didn't stand a chance! The flavors of everything were perfect and the roasted jalapeño just set it all off. I liked everything so much I went back for a second burger. The second time around I went with a double vegan smashed. This was the first time I have had vegan cheese and I truly enjoyed it. Had try out Smashed burger and I wasn't disappointed. It is a brand new spot with nice graffiti art all over the walls and decorated nice. Inside and couple tables outside seatings available. I've tried a lot of smash burgers this place is good. The patties tasted a bit salty and the pressures out all the juices out of the meat. Not to much going on besides thousand island sauce, caramelized onions which felt like there was 3 pieces and American cheese. Ketchup and mustard not on the burger. Ordered 2 doubles smash burgers - scale it - 7/10 Smashed fries - fries needed some salt, thousand island sauce drizzled, chopped up meat, and a little bit of cheese. Let me begin by saying the music was on point. This restaurant spurred a discussion with the SO as I was bopping to the music. Were we that old where an 80's themed restaurant is now considered retro? Is this how the older generation felt when going to a 50's diner? Either way, I loved the music. lol The food was good. Ordered a smash double with cheese and grilled onions upgraded fries. The burger comes dry allowing you to add condiments- which I prefer - and it was far from dry!!! The burger was so juicy and tasty, the soft bun soaks up the drippings perfectly. Karina took my order directly and was cheerful and pleasant. You can order on a kiosk if you choose. The decor appears retro surfer/skater with spray paint graffiti. Definitely a custom commissioned art project - talented and tasteful.
