Cute place, but bad service. Took 30 minutes to get a burger and fries. They didn't seem panicked or worried at all at the fact that they were backed up about a dozen orders. When I got my food, they gave me a bavond avacado burger... without bacon. I was too hungry to care at that point and I knew if I said anything I'd just take even longer, so I ate what I got. I love great hamburgers, hand made milk shakes and hot tasty French fries and have eaten them at local burger joints (and some nice local restaurants). Having gone to the new movie complex quite often that opened here in Gainesville, we were quite happy to see the signs that a hamburger place was opening right across the street. We have been here 4 times, each time before or after the movies 3 times on the weekends and once on a weeknight, because it is RIGHT there as you exit the movies., Will not go again. 1) The place is very small, it fills up FAST, AND finding a place to sit can be a hassle. 2)Would enjoy a nice brew or glass of wine with the burger, they don't sell it. 2)LOTS OF families with kids and teens hanging out,, so the noise level on weekends and at dinner times on some weekdays can get pretty noisy.. 3) You can STAND IN LINE on weekends up over 30 minutes to place your order, then another 15 to 30 minutes to get IT .Is this food worth spending up to an hour to get it?. 4))Many a time they don't clean off the tables fast, so you end up stacking dirty items, off to the side, or wiping food residue off the table 5) Now for the burgers themselves. They have OK burgers, but the smashing part, I like a plump burger with really great beef... The fries are just decent fries, nothing outstanding. The shakes are good . 6),It is a bit pricey for what essentially is a slightly upscale type of fast food chain hamburger. Their web site states gourmet burgers. This is not my idea of a high quality gourmet burger, Above McDonalds, Burger King, and 5 guys, yes. But gourmet, NO. My husband and I love Smashburger but this location is HORRIBLE!!!! The place is filthy, the floor is so Greasy that it is like trying to walk on an Ice skating Rink, I literally had to walk like a duck just not to slip and fall it was so greasy and slippery! GROSS The tables were not wiped down, the napkin dispensers were all but empty. The ladies room was absolutely DISGUSTING!!! Is there no management at this location... no one to make sure that the place gets cleaned, that the floors are mopped, etc... Did I mention that the place wasn't even busy so there was NO excuse for the place being is such a state of filth!!! It just so happen that I have to give them a star, but if I had a choice no star. First time here and would be my last. Too expensive for a burger and yet so blunt and greasy. So I'm rating as I feel about most Smashburger locations, not necessarily this one... We love the food, I've never had anything that I didn't like, and the smashfries are the best. This location however is extremely slow pretty much all the time, the staff are not super friendly, and we've been there several times when seating is simply not available. But, again, the food has never disappointed, so if you can get past the lacking customer service, I recommend it. read more

Worst smash burger I have ever been to. Tables are always dirty, service is slow and when we walked in today after having not visited in a while we stood in line for 5-10 minutes with absolutely no one at the register. Another group of people was leaving and yelled out in the back jokingly that they had customers. As we were standing there I could see a group of employees standing around in the back goofing off and saw me walk over and stare at them and still continued to goof off. The "assistant manager" walked in even after my fiancé asked if anyone was working. No apology, no "sorry for waiting and standing around with no employees" just "what can I get you guys". Worst service in the world, it's very clear not a single person there cares about their job and if they stay in business. Nope, never again. I got the buffalo blue cheese burger, my daughter got the spicy jalapeno baja burger and my son got the BBQ Bacon cheeseburger and I got a to go order for my husband. First complaint I have is the service. When we asked that certain things were to be left off the kids burgers, nothing was left off. My son got the buffalo fries, which was basically buffalo salt on fries, supposed to come with a side of ranch..guess what, we never got the ranch. my kids got their food about 10 minutes before I did and when mine made the appearance, it looked good. Taste was nasty. That same buffalo salt was all over my burger to the point that the salt overpowered the taste of the burger. After two bites, i couldnt eat anymore ( I am not a picky person). Oh I almost forgot that it was cold. The haystack onions on my son's burger ( he asked for those to be left off) were nice and crispy and quite tasty. The ones that I ordered for my side, were not. they were undercooked and soggy. The to go order, well I had to package that up myself and I told two different staff members that it was a to go order. I never saw the fries that was supposed to be with the to go order, not that i cared because of my daughter having tasteless cold limp fries, i wasn't about to complain about not getting them to only have to throw them away anyways. What I couldnt understand is why the place so busy? I was barely out of my seat when someone asked if I was done..give someone a second to move...geez...I wont go back and I will not recommend this place. I though I would give this place a try despite the negative reviews about service and cleanliness. The hours posted on the door say it opens at 10:30. The door is locked and no one is in sight inside. I check online at the official website and it list 11:00. No problem I'll just wait. An employee comes out to let me know that one manager didn't show up for work and the other's car broke down and they can't open without a manager. Stopped by for a late lunch and I really enjoyed the food. The place was busy for a Wednesday afternoon. I got the classic smash, which had a decent sized patty with fresh toppings. Their smash sauce was also pretty good. I also liked the bun. I ordered the regular fries, which are shoestring...not as good as Five Guys fries, but they were hot and not too greasy and were plentiful. I didn't get a milkshake, but they looked good and came in a pretty large quantity. Salads also looked huge. I would definitely go back, especially before or after a movie. read more

Five Guys wanna be. More expensive than Five Guys. Bland food. Got the burger with jalapeños, guacamole, and pepper jack cheese, but there was no taste, and was bland as cardboard. They charge 6.39 for a regular burger and 7.39 for a big burger. If you want fries it's another 2.59, for a single serving. Don't expect Five Guys portions. Went on a Saturday evening, a few days after their grand opening, so the line was long. It moved fairly quickly. Burgers and their Smashfries (seasoned w/ rosemary, olive oil, garlic) were very good. A good burger to me is something I want to eat again the next day. Honestly there's not many places that can offer that. I tried any burger chain I can find and I have to say smash burger is the best. I had tried every single burger on their menu. I recommend the mushroom Swiss, Capital and triple double. The bbq cheddar and avocado chicken (this one is ok) are all right as well. Hands down the best fries. They are always crispy outside and slightly soft inside. I have eaten here at least once a week and never encountered stale fries. Service? I think it's misguided and redundant that people complained about service in places like this. You don't tip and you don't clean after your mess so why do you think service is important? Sometime it's slow because they don't have enough people but I understand that. Also, even if they are slow, the workers always are busy and not just hanging out so I can't be mad at that. read more

The only one who seemed competent was the girl working the cash register and running food. There were so many customers irate about how long it took to get their food. I have eaten here several times and the food is very good. However, the service can be terrible. Today was the second time that I tried to eat here prior to going to a movie. I had approximately 45 minutes each time and twice I got to the head of the line after waiting approximately 10 minutes and the cashier stopped taking orders so they, "could catch up". To me this is terrible service. If you don't have sufficient staff to serve customers you don't need my business. This is the worst smash burger I've ever been to. The service sucks and the workers as well as the what looks like the mangers don't want to be there.The service is really slow and the all the workers always seemed to be sitting down on their phones. Never been to any Smashburger, so it was totally new to me. I had the Avacado Club Burger and my Husband had the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger. We shared the rosemary-olive oil fries. We cut our burgers in half and shared with each other, so I can write a review for both. They were delicious. Tastes more than just a "burger". Fresh and the flavors really went well together. The fries were those shoe string fries, but they were still tasty. I just get impatient eating them,lol. My only complaint was the patties were a little greasy. Take the time to drip off some of the grease before you slap it on the bun...So yeah, its a burger joint, but it is a really good one, fresh flavors and enjoyable. Will definitely go back. read more

I went to this Smashburger joint yesterday as soon as I walked in I knew there was going to be a problem because the people are so rude when I was ordering my food they kept rushing me and talking very rudely so I finally sat down and got my food I ordered a burger fries and a milkshake the milkshake was decent the burger came out sloppy in the fries were cold I partially ate my burger and set it down to eat some of my fries then I look over at my burger and see a gray short hair poking out from the side I am disgusted! So I had my cousin walk up to complain about the hair in my food because I was a shamed of it and she showed them the hair in the burger that was clearly not ours they only said that was our hair we put into the burger none of us have short gray hair so please tell me how it would be ours!? I just wanted A refund for my burger and then the problem started they started talking about me cussing me out because I was too scared to return the burger myself so my cousin started yelling back at them they were going back-and-forth for a good 10-15 minutes until One of the workers friends came over and wanted to fight with my cousin the worker wouldn't let her friend do it but rudely grabbed my cousins arm gave her a bruise and pushed us out of the restaurant and they said to come back at four when they're off their shift to fight after that whole thing happened we called my mom and she called up the restaurant furious and they were only going to get mouthy with her too my mom told them that we will be filing a police report and they only said there were no video cameras so the police ain't going to do s**t this is the worst experience I've ever had I just wanted a cheap quick mail and I got an overpriced burger with a hair in it and very evil service will never come back here again read more

We ordered our food on-line to be more efficient with our time. I arrived, paid and then waited...waited and waited. Apparently, two of my three burgers were "ready", but not prepared to order and exchanged many hands multiple times. After ten times of exchanging the two burgers back and forth, along with packing fries and fried onions, I continued to wait for the third burger for another fifteen minutes. This meant that I waited twenty minutes after the designated pick up time with no apologies, cold food and paid for bacon that was not on the burger as ordered. Hi I just wanted to inform you that I was almost a customer of yours until I walked in and ordered my food then moments later I catch myself looking threw the window to the kitchen and see the store manager cooking with no gloves... Then he wipes his nose and puts the burger on someone's sandwich with out washing his hands. I almost threw up at that point I demanded a refund and to speak to the manager. He then tells me if you don't like the way we do things you don't have to eat here and that he can guarantee that anywhere els I go there doing the same thing. I get my change and I told him I worked in food safety and you must wear gloves and he tells me he has been doing this for 35 years and that is not true you don't have to wear gloves. I had the bacon cheeseburger and the classic grilled chicken sandwich. The bacon cheeseburger was decently thick, although if I hadn't got two sandwiches I would have needed a second patty. The bun was good, doesn't deflate like most and the toppings were fresh. The grilled chicken sandwich was good but a bit disappointing. Although the chicken was larger than the bun, it was very very thin. My order was correct and will visit again, but like most burger joints it's normally a wise decision to get a burger. read more
