I hadn't had Smashburger in a long time and decided to give it another shot. It wasn't great. The food was pretty underwhelming, and overall it just didn't live up to what I remembered. Very short staffed with one guy taking orders at the register.. filling orders once food was up and also same person delivering food to customers.. waited over 30 minutes for food with chicken tenders and sweet potatoe fries. One order.. had to be to work at the hospital at 7pm cutting it close I almost asked for a refund.. I think they had three cooks in the back but only one guy in the front doing the work of 3 people. Ordered a brisket double burger last night. Almost $20.00 burger alone. -arrived BEFORE my order was due. -I was a Nike or so away. - my bag was in the on the warmer or pick up area when I got there. -burger was old. Smooshed. Way over cooked to the point of being tough. Unseasoned. Bun was mangled. Pickles and cheese were off putting. I suffered through half thinking this was the worse fast food burger I've ever eaten. Then realized it wasn't even the burger I had ordered. So it looks like gave a burger that hadn't been picked up and had sat around. We're over at the VA hospital across the street and waiting on some things so we came over here to get some food,we met Dan. He is absolutely amazing. Took care of us and looked out for us. I started coughing I had to go to the bathroom. He immediately showed up and provided the code. I didn't have to go look for it. I didn't have to go ask. As we're ordering things he was explaining our food to us exactly how everything worked. This is our first time here. Definitely will come back again. First time trying Smashburger and not really impressed... For a chain restaurant I was expecting a little faster service upon walking in. When we walked in the person in the front of the line had just finished ordering and the lady behind the counter just walked off for what seemed like forever (probably 5 minutes honestly) before taking our order. Was unsure why it took that long to just take our order when it still needed to be made anyways so I felt like we double waited? Was hoping for a legit Smashburger and maybe it's my fault for ordering a Smashburger with veggies. The veggies were crisp and fresh so that was a plus but the burger overall was no better than Five Guys or The Habit in my opinion. Garlic Smash Fries were good but nothing to write home about. You could taste the garlic and whatever oil they tossed them in. Overall I would be totally content never eating Smashburger again in my life - did I miss something here? The service was so slow, I was waiting for 10 minutes for my food, there wasn't anyone in there so I don't know why it was taking so long. I got onion rings with my meal and they were uncooked, and you could see the batter of it. This place is so inhumane and vial, they took so long making the food but didn't even cook it right. Who ever made that food needs to get fired, I could have gotten food poisoning, they are risking peoples healths working there. If you really want a burger close by the hospital, it's awesome to have Smashburger around. If you are staying at the Children's hospital, it is like a 5 minutes drive. When we went here, it was not busy. The restaurant is clean and there are lots of seating. I'm not a big burger consumer but it tastes like all the other burgers that I have had in the past. It's good but nothing I am blown away by. The fries were good and I am happy they had some taste to them and were not plain. Pretty much, it's a great location for connivence if you are tired of eating hospital food. The great thing about this small plaza is that there are options for pretty much all cravings. read more

This burger was okay but I've definitely had better burgers. My Colorado chicken burger was $7.50 and the cheese was inconsistent and dropping all over the place (not in a good way). It was pretty oily and wet which made my lettuce limp. The chicken costs more than getting their beef. I'll stick with beef next time if I try it again. It's clean inside and workers were friendly. The burger bun has a nice texture (not too soft and not dry) but I couldn't get over how messy and unappealing the burger was. I'm not sure if the juices are from the green chile or the cheese. This Smashburger is very clean and nice looking. The lighting is soft, but when I came in about one-third of the ceiling spotlights were on so the place looked a little too dim for my taste. The volume of the music was just right though. Also, the food is of the same consistent quality as the other three Smashburgers I've eaten at: Castle Rock, the other Aurora location, and Northglenn. There was someone in both bathrooms for the entire time I was there, which made me quite conflicted between worrying about their health, and getting mad at them because I needed to pee. The worst was they never emerged from the bathroom so I could neither confirm they're ok, nor give them a dirty look. Like I said, I was conflicted. I have been a fan of Smashburger since they opened one in Boulder. I heard from another Yelper friend (thanks Samantha) that there was now one near the hospital complex in Aurora and needing a few dinner options this week, I tried it. It is small and quiet at dinner compared to Boulder, which can be a mobbed at this time. But the food was fresh and quick and the staff incredibly friendly and I heard that lunch and shift change times are their "rush" hours. I would absolutely eat here again when in the area. As with other eateries in this strip, easy to park, not so easy to access with the ongoing road construction. read more
