Stopped in here after hearing lots of great feedback from fellow celiac folks. Fried chicken is not something I ate a lot previously but I do get a craving now and again. Was immediately impressed by the staff. Greeted right away and they fully explained which food was safe and which ones to avoid. Also explained their precautions and overall process which was great. The place was very clean and looked well taken care of. The food itself was pretty great, given what they're trying to do without using flour. Texture was pretty spot on, but really the flavors are what got me. We tried both the plain and Nashville hot, and both were good. Tried 4 of their available sauces and everyone in the family agreed they were solid. The fries and most sides are also free from cross contamination so it was nice having a full meal where nothing was compromised or risky. Also appreciated the variety of lemonades and local sodas over the traditional coke/pepsi fountains most places offer. I won't say this fried chicken is a perfect one for one from my gluten eating days, but they've done a wonderful job of getting pretty close. The flavors and sauces get the experience pretty close in my opinion. Even my kids said they'd choose this over other "normal" fried chicken places. So if you're someone who avoids gluten and are craving some fried chicken, this place is absolutely worth a visit. read more

This was my second time at Starbird with the first being a Yelp event. Was heading home from some errands and craving crispy chicken and figured why not. It's just as delicious as I remember. Chicken is super juicy and seems high quality. Fries are cooked and seasoned to perfection. Fountain drinks are local with decent ingredients and lemonades are made in-house. Service is friendly and gives good recommendations for dipping sauces. Honestly it's all a win. We opted for 4 pc tenders - an order of classic and one of the spicy variety with a smattering of dips. Love that if you take a picture of your food and scan a QR code it gifts a meal to someone in need. While it may not be the cheapest of fast casual joints, the quality and portions feel worth it. Having been to Starbird at a Yelp Event, I decided to stop by on my way to DMNS. The chicken here is truly delish. I was jonesing for a sammy but ended up ordering the Chicken Chop Nashville Hot Salad. The salads here are loaded with fresh greens and are of decent portion. Dressing comes on the side should a person not be able to finish the meal (like me). Kiosk ordering is the best as you can clearly see the options and customize to your liking. Add ons and changes make it easy! The order announcement board lets diners know the status of said order and the staff do call out when the order is ready. I am shocked I have never heard of Starbird until a couple weeks ago. This is definitely a new favorite of ours that we will be adding to our rotation. First, I am glad they have a private parking lot and not street parking. It definitely makes coming back more likely. Service is so friendly and the place is clean. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming - even though we did want to try a lot. We settled on the Tokyo salad, Okonomiyaki Fries, Brussels sprouts, and the Japanese BBQ Bird. Kirsten recommended the Brussels sprouts and the Thai aioli sauce and they did not disappoint. If you're overwhelmed, definitely ask for recommendations. The food was delicious. Every bite was so satisfying. I usually hate every Brussels sprout that I eat but Starbird was the first where I was like I want more. Defiantly recommend the Brussels sprouts as your side with the Thai Herb Aioli sauce. The fries were full of flavor and the Benito flakes really tied it together. The salad was super tasty and filling. I enjoyed the mix of 2 different dressings. The Mango Green Tea was delicious (not too sweet or bland). Even the cookie was delicious. She was excited about her work with Starbird Chicken, explaining the would come another in Colorado Springs; wishing they might consider Arvada or a Starbird Chicken a bit more northern side. I love fried chicken and love checking out new places. Starbird is new to Colorado but has been around for a hot minute in California. So juicy, so moist, so crunchy and so flavorful! I ordered the Cali Gold BBQ Bacon Sandwich with Cici's recommendation and a side of the Brussels sprouts... We also ordered the 4 piece Japanese BBQ tenders with some elote corn. The corn was on the salty side and Brussels sprouts a little dark, but overall really delicious. The star of the show is definitely the chickens. Normally I'm nervous for BBQ sauce as I don't love sweet sauce on savory food but this was not that. Very well balanced with the sauce and the bacon. The chicken was so tender. I loveeee a fried chicken sandwich but my gripe with some of the more popular friend chicken places is that the spicy chicken sandwich just isn't spicy or flavorful enough. Today my husband and I went to try Starbird Chicken and it was an amazing experience! The guy who was taking our order was super helpful, polite, and friendly! He helped us select mains, sides and match them with sauces which they make in house (wasabi aioli sauce was our favorite!) I ordered the Japanese BBQ chicken tenders and my husband ordered the Thai chicken tenders. Both of us lived in Asia so we really have a soft spot for Asian foods and we were looking forward to trying Asian interpretation of classic American chicken tenders. The chicken was very juicy and moist. We also ordered Okonomiyaki Fries which were delicious and complemented the Japanese BBQ tenders really well. It was the first time we have ever had pickled ginger on our fries and it was very unique and tasty. When we got to go get our drinks, we were delighted to see that all beverages from teas to sodas are house made gourmet options, which is really cool and different compared to your average fast casual chicken place. The tenders were piping hot, quite juicy, and you could really taste the lemon zing! For my entree I got the chopped salad which can be shared for 2 people with leftovers. The dressing was very unique and refreshing! My Tokyo crunch sesame salad was outstanding, the presentation, crisp veggies and dressing on the side were a home run. Not gluten free were the wonton crisps but they could be omitted. TK the kitchen manager was so gracious in his explanation that all the chicken is GF rice floured and in dedicated fryer only for the meat. The fries however are fried in same basket as wontons so those In Need of no cross contamination won't want to eat those. He did say they can get fresh from the cooler, as well as change gloves if celiac. I had elote corn "side" served cool- but tangy and yummy for sure. This is marked gf too. Starbird is my favorite fresh fast food stop while out running errands on Colorado Boulevard. For me it's a great stop after hitting Nordstrom Rack! I obsessed with their Tokyo Sesame Crunch salad with extra dressing (it's a delicious citrus dressing and the salad is huge and crunchy with cabbages and lettuces and crunchy fried chicken. Good experience on soft grand opening day (yesterday) but nothing really stood out. Dropped by at 4:35pm for our 5pm appointment. The manager came out and sternly said they're not opened but if we want to sit outside until 5pm they'll come get it. Sure, ok. We sat back in our car since it was windy outside. The manager wasn't too inviting and seemed to let the stress of the day/evening get the best of him. As far as food goes, the chickens are GIANT. I've never seen chickens this big so I can only assume hormones are part of the equation. I ordered a Starbird 2.0 sandwich and the chicken itself was abnormally large. That was the first comment I made. There are plenty of other chicken places in and around Denver so Starbird may have beee a bit late to the party. I'm still on the fence as far as returning. Absolutely fantastic first experience at Star Bird! As a non-meat eater I feel the need to tell my fellow pescatarians (or vegetarians or vegans) of the delicious veggie options here! As my side, I got fries and for my drink I tried a couple of their house made lemonades and teas. The Garden Bird was quite tasty and so filling with all the fresh and flavorful toppings. I can't stop raving about the fries which are perfectly crispy and a very generous portion. Upon the recommendation of the cashier, I tried both the star sauce and the truffle aioli dipping sauces. Both were equally delicious. The food was satisfying and an a very tasty meal overall. However, the star of the show that day was the service. Kiersten (I may have spelled wrong) was an absolute doll! Made recommendations, was patient since this was first time there and constantly checked on not only me but all the other patrons when she came out from behind the counter. This gal is a gem! The tenders were juicy but the rub on them was not hot and I was hoping for a crispy/crunchier tender VS a soft tender. The fries were sooo good!! Nice and crispy, great flavor and probably some of the best fries I've had. The truffle aioli sauce was my favorite! Those with the friend and the tenders really worked for me!! This place is awesome! They have a large parking lot. You can order food at the kiosks inside or at the counter. I brought my friends with me and we have several dietary restrictions - they were able to accommodate everyone! I had the vegetarian sandwich which was incredible. The chicken fingers and nuggets are gluten free! They also have grilled chicken for my egg allergy pal. Staff was super friendly and helpful and the food tasted great. This is THE chicken place I've been missing all my life! In a word , "Wow!" The woman behind the counter was extremely helpful. First time here and she made suggestions and tried to make everything according to personal preferences. For example, I got the Tokyo Sesame salad and I did not want the chicken fried. They grilled it but using the same spices they would've used for the fried chicken. My grilled chicken was tender and juicy. Excellent flavor. I really appreciate that level of service. My friend had a chicken sandwich and he said it was extremely good. The carrot dressing was unique and a delight. What I really like is their original menu items. I don't think you'll find these anywhere else. The ambience is nothing special. Just basic fast food but I didn't care because the food is so good! read more
