My guy has been raving about Dave's for a while and tonight, we decided to seek out their Denver location. There's street parking but this is also N Broadway so we were thankful to find the underground parking garage - and bonus, it's spits you out right at the entrance to Dave's. The decor is artsy and graphic, with hard edges and lines but also very cool. I really liked the mountain scapes on one of the walls and the cool ski dude hanging from above. Despite being busy and having a steady stream of folks coming in, their waitstaff were on their game: friendly as in "lemme walk you through the menu" since I was new and super helpful. We didn't wait long until our buzzer alerted us. And then came the biggest chicken tender I have ever had. Extra hot is no joke either. I went for the cool, crisp pickles more than a few times. I had a couple of glasses of water too. All that said, I wouldn't change a thing. The chicken was juicy, tender and really, really well seasoned. Oh, and damn hot. I'm a spicy girl and might downgrade to hot next time, lol. Dave's hot sauce is more of a creamy confection and a perfect compliment. Add some cheesy fries and you're got the #4 combo meal. The food here is amazing. Watch out all other chicken places, this one has you beat. This is our 2nd time at Dave's and our 2nd location and both locations have been great. The #2 is perfect with loaded fries, we def didn't need to get the single with it. So next time we know. Hot is our sweet spot. The service at this location is.... Clueless? He got our order wrong and they try to get you to tip. Tip for what? He clearly didn't listen and they don't do anything. The other location I went to did not try to trick you into tipping. But my friends recommend Daves since we both adore Raising Cane's so I took their words for it. Unfortunately I found so many things different between the two. I usually get the tenders for that ~protein~ but my new obsession are the bites with medium spice after Yessica recommended it to me. Comes with 10 juicy white meat bites, ample fries seasoned to perfection, pickle chips, a slice of white bread, and three containers of sauce! I drizzled honey on top of the bites this time around and the mouthwatering mix of sweetness, spiciness, and saltiness of the chicken was so addictive, I was seriously considering throwing in a second (or third...or fourth) order for my next meals. I mean nothing at all. It was shocking. It makes me wonder what no spice and lite mild even taste like. With that kind of a level i could probably got to hot or even extra hot. I got the tender mild since it was for my two year old and got the slider extra hot. First off the Daves sauce is incredible. Make sure you get that with your meal! Secondly this may just be me but I sometimes associate mild as a lack of flavor option compared to a spicier option, this is far from true at Daves Hot Chicken! Their mild is full of flavor and covered with seasoning! I had to double check that it was actually mild because I didn't believe it. The slider was amazing! They give you a generous size piece of chicken and the bun goes so well with the sandwich. Their fries are good too! Perfectly crispy and hot. For the adults they do have beers and seltzer. The restaurant itself was pretty clean, the bathrooms very clean. Taking off a star because no changing table! I had to change a blowout on the sink, not cool. I liked that I could decide the heat I wanted on my chicken. The staff were friendly and eager to help. I would definitely return! Notes: street parking is not good for this location. At the end of July I received a Yelp message that referenced my review. It said one word only. And it said that it came from Dave's Hot Chicken. It said, "Liar." Now this is confusing to me. Who sent it? Why can't I get the Yelp app to show me who the message was from, aside from simply saying "Dave's Hot Chicken"? Why did the person say I was a liar when my photos showed that I was telling the complete truth? This place has us in a chokehold. I think we've had this place 3 times within a month which is rare for us. The food is always fresh and on point when it comes to flavor. Service is always A1. Stopppp this place is so good. Everyone i've met working here is so stinking nice. I've never had a bad experience here. The art is epic on the walls, there's always enough tables. Someone is always cleaning and tidying them up. The FOOD IS SO GOOD. I like a little spice so the medium slider is very nice with one of the hot tenders, I always add cheese but it's still good without it too. No spice and little mild is great if you're really really sensitive to spice, they do a great job of it. I've been here a couple times, and honestly the worst thing they have on the menu is the chicken. Their sides and fries are extremely delicious. The problem with the chicken is it is WAY over seasoned and incredibly salty to the point where I couldn't finish the 2nd chicken tender. Is it hot chicken? You bet, just as advertised. Very spicy even at just the Hot spice level. The chicken itself is actually really well prepared, juicy and cooked to perfection. But they ruin the fine bird by just absolutely drenching it with this salty seasoning which has a very sandy texture that just isn't pleasant. The other thing I don't understand is the two plain slices of white bread they serve the chicken with. Am I supposed to sort of make a sandwich with it? They serve it with pickles as well so I tried that and the bread was so dry it just broke when I folded it. I honestly can't think of a reason why two pieces of plain, dry white bread were on the plate. But again, great sides. The mac and cheese is delicious and fries are A+. Service is also very friendly, prices are good. But the way they season the chicken is a serious issue for me and I likely won't be returning. read more

Walked here with a friend while working out of a nearby coworking space. Thankfully there wasn't much of a lunch crowd. Ended up being a little too much food, which is better than the other way around. I really wanted to try a slider, but next time I would get the two-tender meal instead... though it still comes with sliced bread. Definitely getting the mac & cheese or cheese fries in the future. Can you tell how much I love cheese? The chicken itself was fantastic. The pickles, too. Service was alright. Very fast food feeling. I mean obviously... it's a chain. Has Denver become a gold mine for hot chicken? I'm gonna say yes. Dave's is bringing the fried chicken love to South Broadway's party scene. Stone cold sober or extremely intoxicated, this chicken goes down smooth. More so than the product itself, I'm impressed with the dining room set up, late night hours and staff efficiency. Touché. 2 Hot Tenders w/ Cheese Fries // with 7 spice levels, I chose "HOT" which is number 5 on the scale. The chicken is crispy as hell. Almost too crispy? No it can't be...maybe it's just a personal preference. I appreciated the chicken actually being hot and having great depth of flavor. Many hot chicken spots simply don't produce "hot chicken." It's evident Dave did his research and knows how to crank out spicy ass chicken. Paired with Dave's sauce, you can't go wrong with anything on the plate. The kicker of the whole experience were the cheese fries. I wouldn't have even ordered them if the cashier didn't recommend them. Props to you, my man! These cheese fries were everything you've ever wanted from cheese fries. Remember those shitty ones from stadiums and ballparks? This is hands down some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I got the sliders with medium spice and it came out so quick and was the perfect level of spicy. The fries are well seasoned, but the Dave's sauce and honey are great to dumb on your chicken. The coleslaw on the sandwich is outstanding as well. The portions reflect the cost. I thought it was kinda pricy, but we also had 2 times the food we needed. Could have easily split a #2 and been happy. The flavor is super good on the chicken [and since that is 95% of the menu that is good.] Everyone working there was super kind and helpful.
