I have no idea where to begin....This restaurant is d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! If you are looking for authentic Jamaican food in Denver, CO, this is your spot!!! The food is on point. We enjoyed the lunch Jerk Chicken with a slide of fried Plantains. The flavor was exceptional--reminding me of my multiple visits to Jamaica. You will definitely feel like your tastebuds entered an authentic experience! This is not a place you want to come to if you're in a rush--call ahead for take-out--just like true Jamaican vibes, the service is slow, but so worth the wait--no pre-cooked barrels of food you can tell that this restaurant takes their time perfecting their jerk sauce and putting a lot of love into their food. I wanted to try out this Jamaican spot by myself, and me being a vegetarian, I don't eat meat. The only things I can really enjoy at a Jamaican restaurant are rice and peas, mac and cheese, and plantain. As I went into the restaurant, I was greeted with a smile. The person who took my order, who was a woman, was very nice at first. Then I started asking questions about the Rasta Pasta to see if they could take out any meat if there was any. Come to find out they have shrimp in their Rasta Pasta. She checked with the kitchen to see if they can remove the shrimp, and they said yes. I asked another question: can I know how much food comes with the Rasta Pasta? She said it's a big amount. I was wondering if I can get a small amount. When I asked that, she seemed so annoyed to go back to the kitchen to ask them if I can get a smaller amount of Rasta pasta. This is when she started to become a little bit rude. When she came back from the kitchen, she told me, "Yes, they can make a smaller portion of Rasta Pasta." But then, this being my first time at this restaurant, I thought maybe I could eat a little bit and then save the rest for later or tomorrow. I then changed my mind from a smaller portion to a bigger portion. I understand when you're dealing with an indecisive person at the moment, it can get a little annoying, but when you work at a restaurant, whether you're the owner or not, that is so rude. She then said this to me, "That's a lot of food for one person." Without her even knowing if I have siblings or not, or if I am sharing this with someone, she just assumed that it's all for me just because of how I looked (I had planned to eat a little then save it for the next couple of days). I do look a bit overweight, but for her to point that out, that's so rude. I almost cried in my car when I walked back to it after leaving the restaurant. I'm currently on a weight loss journey, but for her to say that and not even know me almost broke me. This was my first time trying this place, and I was really looking forward to the oxtails. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The oxtails were extremely dry and tough, making them difficult to eat. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it had been reheated and had hard, dried-out chunks throughout. The rice was also hard and seemed stale. I had high expectations based on what I ordered, but the quality of the food did not meet them. Food was good. Service wasn't the best. Went to their other location in Centennial but service was even worse, where we didn't even get to order because we were standing for 15 mins. We can hear the front house staff talking in the back and just refusing to come out to provide any acknowledgment or service. Finally, a good Jamaican spot in Denver. I'm from JA and it is very hard to find authentic Jamaican food out in Colorado. This place is great. Beef patties are flaky and their portions are very generous. Good customer service which admittedly made my wary of their authenticity (lol) but they were simply nice and friendly. My only comment is the rice & peas could be a little more moist and tastes like it's been sitting in the pot a bit. Rum cake was also to die for omg! Only one as good as my mom's. my girlfiend and I got two plates for lunch today. All the food was microwaved and old. It was over 60 bucks for us to have lunch. Ox tail jerk chicken and a beef pattie.. Literally it was all microwaved. sides and meat. her ox tail was tuff and not edible. My chicken was so old and dry and microwaved. This is the worst food I have gotten in a restaurant in 5 years. We literally threw out both our meals. The only thing that was edible was the beef pattie and thats not saying much.. So mad the food was that bad. I would have felt better if I was just robbed in the street then having paid to eat un edible microwaved left overs from days ago. Has great potential but misses the mark. Jerk Chicken was just fine. They should offer different heat levels. Ribs were tough and undercooked. Rice and Peas were OK. Mac and cheese had been sitting in the warmer hours too long. Fried plantains weren't ripe enough. Fried dumplings were bland. Patties need more filling and more spice. I live across the street & wanted to check them out. 6pm on a Sat eve. The woman behind the counter was clearly on a personal call & acted irritated when I asked for help, robotically listing the menu. I asked for the most common- chicken, rice, & cabbage, and she disappeared behind a curtain... I waited, & waited, other people came in, and no one came out... I finally gave up, worried what they were doing back there & left. No refund to my card next day. That was my 1 time donation to them! You would think a chicken & rice place would have chicken & rice prepped & ready! The apts across the street are full of bachelors & should be a gold mine for this place, but they'd rather be 'woke' & alienate customers. Incompetent, discriminatory, or both! So happy this opened here- I go to the Centennial location. Friendly staff, good food, and fair prices. Love their oxtail, beef patties, juice and curry chicken. If you like Jamaican cuisine definitely give them a try (more of a to go spot but there are a few seats and chairs to dine in. read more
