With a little more attention to detail, the food at The Crab House could easily be five stars, but it just doesn't quite make the grade. We'll keep coming back, though. We'll just be choosy. Some items are great, and the prices are good - especially in this rising-cost economy we all face. The backstory: One of my son's favorite shops has moved near The Crab House in Englewood. We love seafood and Cajun seafood boil. He's brought us two take-out meals so far. Meal 1: My son ordered in person to check out the menu in the restaurant. It matched the online menu, hurrah! Off to a good start. We had the Special Cajun F, a combination seafood boil listed as 1 lb lobster tail, 1/2 snow crab, 1/2 pound shrimp (head off), with 2 corn, 2 potatoes, 2 chicken sausage, and Cajun sauce, medium. Price in early January 2025 was $37. At that price I figured it had to mean "one lobster tail," which turned out to be correct. The lobster tail is listed as 6 ounces and was a good size to share in a. meal with other items. Unfortunately it was overcooked, so the large uncovered end was tough and quite dry. The sauce was definitely appreciated. The bottom half of the tail was firm but more flavorful and not so dry in texture. None of it was tender or tender-firm and moist, which would have been preferred. The lobster tail was just okay. The 1/2 snow crab was good, cooked right with a nice large claw. I wouldn't hesitate at all to order more snow crab. The star of the show was the shrimp. Half a pound totaled nine plump, meaty shrimp done perfectly, with split shells that were easy to remove. The shrimp hooked me. We were shorted a potato, and the one we got was tiny. Sad for two people, but oh well; it was done perfectly and tasted lovely for the two bites we each got. Two sections of corn on the cob, about 1.5 inches each, delicious and sweet. Two thin strips of chicken sausage, okay. The medium Cajun sauce was excellent. This was a good late lunch for two. It wouldn't be quite enough for a two-person dinner without a salad or some other item. Meal 2: We ordered boiled clams in medium garlic butter, a pound of shrimp with medium all-in-one sauce, and a lobster roll with Cajun fries included. The shrimp were excellent once again. Top notch. The medium all-in-one sauce was a little hotter than the medium Cajun sauce. It's probably better to go for the distinct individual sauces, though. The clams weren't pictured on the menu. As I expected, they turned out to be Manila clams, mostly shell and very little meat. At least all the shells were open so we could eat them all. Our order yielded about 16. Not much to each clam, but each was tasty and chewy enough to provide a satisfying experience if not just gulped down. Take your time. We hadn't been sure what to expect with "medium garlic butter." It was a pleasant surprise, loaded with little chunks of minced garlic which made up most of the thick sauce. There was a slight butter taste with medium spice. We ended up loving it. Each boil-bag was supposed to come with 1 corn, 2 potatoes, and a strip of chicken sausage. We lucked out with an extra corn in each bag. (Lack of attention to detail in our favor this time, but consistency or consistent generosity would be better.) The Cajun fries were plentiful and very good. Below is what the lobster roll looks like on the menu ("image for reference only") followed by the actuality. Not even close. With considerable effort and forethought, it was possible to make each mouthful a huge bite of bread with a tiny bit of the lobster salad. The lobster salad was delicious but there was far too little of it, and it seemed like it had been minced. Every bit of lobster was tiny; no chunks at all. Fortunately the bread was warm with a lightly toasty crust, tender, and extremely delicious. If the bread had been less than perfect, the lobster roll would have been a bigger disappointment than it was. We won't be ordering that again. So four stars, and we'll keep trying. I hope the restaurant keeps trying too! I look forward to tasting their crabcakes, Dungeness crab, and fried seafood among other items, and I'll always aim to get some of the boiled shrimp to avoid disappointment.

Super cute interior, DELICIOUS food, fast service! Very kind people here, very much recommend.

Waitress was very nice and quick. The space looks like a quick service but it does have table service. It's clean and comfortable in the booths. Food was delicious for price!

When I got there, the place was empty. As I made my way to the counter, I didn't know whether I was able to dine in or take out. The individual behind the counter didn't even ask me; so confusing. I ended up getting a booth. It took the same individual like 5 minutes before taking my order, which I have no idea why I'd need that much time and no one else was in the restaurant. Never asked me for a drink. I ordered the lobster roll with fries and honey mustard (which apparently turned into ranch when my order came out). Everything about the meal tasted so bland. I have had better at so many other places. I was left disappointed. Not only was the service awkward and had an uncaring attitude, but the ambiance was strange too -- I felt like an earthquake was happening the entire time I was there -- the entire booth was mildly shaking. I have no idea why that was the case. Overall, this place I feel needs better service, with those who are caring, considerate and not robotic, as well as more flavor in its meals.

Thank you for letting us dine at The Crab House right at Witches hour. Very impressed with the hospitality and service from this employee. If you recognize him in the photo say hi.The presentation of my food just kept drawing me in as my mouth watered waiting to dig in. I also liked the metal bucket for scraps, the bib and plastic gloves. We ordered the shrimp Bag (head off) combo for 1lb and the fried chicken tender basket with coleslaw. The chicken was lightly fried and the flavor was delicious. The shrimp bag was so favorable and appealing to the eye.The quality of the foods were perfect, along with the temperature.I would eat here everyday if I could and would give this restaurant a 10 star review if I could. See ya soon and thank you so much for an awesome first time costumer service experience!

I was very skeptical at that point if I was going to really like this place. Next, we got seated quite quickly although there were 5 couples ahead of us. All the staff members I encountered were very friendly, nice and attentive which was a huge plus, especially considering how busy it was that day. We ordered our food and noticed they had very good prices and cheaper than our go-to seafood boil place so that's a win! The food came out hot, our server emptied out the bags for us which was very nice. I ordered the shrimp with head on xxtra hot and It was the perfect spice level for my latina taste buds, absolutely loved it even with just the garlic butter sauce. My husband got snow crab and he was very pleased with how tasty and easy it was to crack them open and get the crab out. If you have leftovers they will pack it up for you which is another plus for me! Lastly, I got a beautiful rose to end the night when we were heading out which was a nice touch! Overall, I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. It was delicious and cooked perfectly! I am excited to try out their other sauces and look forward to it!

They are light, fluffy, delicious, sugary with just the right amount of dough. They are best eaten fresh right there, and don't make that rookie mistake by inhaling and coughing into that mound of powdered sugar! We also always get one of their Benedict's. My daughter ordered the Eggs Jennifer with crispy potatoes which goes well with their homemade ketchup. You gotta try it. My dad and I shared the bowl of gumbo. Gotta have some with their homemade hot sauce. Yummy roux. And my husband's fave is the sausage gravy. My fork tends to wander around the table so I feel like it was a very fulfilling meal! Service is always friendly and I love all of the Mardi Gras and N'Orleans decorations. I even recognized the picture of Lafitte's bar, the oldest bar in New Orleans on their wall that's a local legend that used to serve pirates. I would LOVE if Lucile's would take over the open spot on Simms, north of 6th, that used to be Campfire Lakewood. Never fear - you are surrounded by friends and family that want to help. It takes a village for monumental life experiences. Lean into it! Therefore, today the Sausage family dines together at Lucile's after a big morning of moving. We are hongry! We start with a round of beignets. Heavenly delights with mounds of white sugar like Scarface in heaven. Maple Sausage flutters her eyes and exclaims "The dough was fluffy on the inside but crispy on the outside like a good tortoise that's been at the zoo for 100 years and you've come to form a parasocial relationship with. Every time you return, it's there." We've also ordered a round of beverages, as varied in colors as the rainbow on a rainy sunny day. Silly Sausage has ordered the chicory coffee. "Chicory notes. Violin. Fur Elise." Lil Chile Sausage has ordered the fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. "It's magical. Sorcerer's apprentice from Fantasia, for sure. Like when the waters from the well flood, but it's grapefruit juice. I'm drinking the grapefruit juice to stop the flooding." And Cutie Pie Sausage sips on his Bloody Mary. "Top 3 bloody Mary's ever. Other top 2 are in Idaho springs and urban farmer. Pickle spice is awesome. THICK TOMATO!!" Oohhh... Ahh... The flavors are resplendent! But wait... Our entrees are arriving! Maple and I have ordered the red beans and rice. Maple slurps her beans and chews her rice, but breaks to consume her biscuit all in go. "The biscuit was unreal. Rb&r are delicious. Sausage has a little bit of spice, but not an overwhelming amount of spice... Like a jazz band walking down Bourbon Street in my mouth. I can hear 'When the Saints go Marching in...'" Lil Chile has ordered the blackened salmon plate. While speaking to his fish and asking for blessing to consume it's flesh, he remarks "Wow! I'm properly full. Nice notes of spicy and Louisiany. I feel like Shia Labeouf - I'm ready to rage! I'm ready to choke someone out." Silly has ordered the blackened salmon po boy. As she wraps up eating her meal, the voice of The Spirit of Food speaks through her, "It tasted like Mardi gras. I was getting the beads... You know what I was doing to get the beads" And finally, Cutie Pie has ordered the Biscuits and sausage and gravy. He leans back in his chair, full as can be. "It was overly indulgent, but I'm highly satisfied. I feel like a hippo, not a violent hippo, that needs to sleep." Life is so short and community feels out of reach. The world is in flames and we stare into our phones to obsess over humanity's self-hatred. BUT when we take moments to help each other, our neighbors, our family, our friends, hope is actively restored to the world and love is a contagious disease that you are coughing on your peers. COUGH COUGH! The spirit of community lives in Lucile's. Our belly's and hearts are full, yet we are light as a feather. Our experience here will DEFINITELY be coming back to the bedroom. Thank you, Lucky's!

Steve is a master of the grill…read more We used Smoke House Meats to cater our daughters HS graduation party. The beef ribs were a huge hit, smoked over a combo of cherry wood and hickory. They come dry (Texas style) but hold the sauce so perfectly. Beef ribs can be tough if rushed but clearly Steve takes his time and let's these babies render to tender. He also supplied us with a 100 piece of mixed-flavor wings. The party favorites were the simple smoked and Sriracha Honey. His brisket was lean but juicy and deeply flavored. As I write this, I am reheating the brisket chopped and mixed into my eggs and hash browns. Just as good this am as last night. The pulled chicken was the least favorite. I don't believe that has much to do with Steve. It is more the fact that white meat is baseline dry and adding the smoke only dries it further. I would recommend bone-in whole chicken if smoked chicken is what you are after. The sides Steve prepared were a HUGE HIT. The smoked mac-n-cheese was great in flavor and held its heat the whole night without cooking to the mealy mush sometimes sheet pan mac will get to. The green beans were over the top flavorful but unlike the mac, start to get soft as the night goes on and they steam. Again, this isn't an issue with Steve. It's an issue with the nature of greenbeans. You would be completely safe adding these to your event if everyone eats in a single wave. Like others have said, the favorite ended up being the BBQ spaghetti. We encountered a happy accident with our order. We ordered the traditional BBQ spaghetti as well as the previously mentioned mac. The mac was requested to have jalapeños but communication got crossed and the spaghetti received the jalapeños. Steve caught the mistake and gave us the "oops" pan and the regular. At the party, nearly all of the jalapeño spaghetti was consumed while only a quarter of the pan of regular was eaten. It was such a unique dish and unexpected deep in flavor, even a friend of our who owns a restaurant was talking about doing a riff on this dish. We ordered food for 25 adults. The result was good for 50+. Portions are generous and the quality was there. Steve BBQ is a unique style and he is a pleasure to work with.
