We were traveling with a party of six and in the mood for some comfort food. The 49th Food & Spirits was nearby and had excellent Yelp reviews, so even though they don't take reservations, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived, and we requested outdoor seating. The hostess was very accommodating, quickly putting two tables together so we could sit outside in the shade on a beautiful Denver evening. The Alaska-inspired menu is fairly limited, but several items sounded appealing, especially the Elk Meatloaf. Our order included: * Bethel Brussels Sprouts ($12) * Elk River Meatloaf ($24) * Seward Caesar with chicken ($15) * Kids Fish & Chips ($9) Let's start with the positives. Service was very good throughout the meal, and our waitress was friendly and accommodating. The Brussels sprouts were a hit with the table -- flavorful and well prepared. The fries served with the fish & chips were hot, crispy. And the dinners were all generously portioned. Unfortunately, the rest of the food ranged from mediocre to disappointing. We were especially looking forward to the elk meatloaf, but both orders arrived extremely dry. The mashed potatoes and gravy were actually quite good, but they couldn't overcome the texture of the meatloaf itself. At least half of each serving was left uneaten. We substituted mixed vegetables for the green beans and found them undercooked, with the carrots still quite hard. The Caesar salad also disappointed, with wilted lettuce, and the fish in the fish & chips was described as bland. The patio itself is pleasant, but it sits directly beside a busy road, so traffic noise can be significant at times. Perhaps we simply ordered the wrong dishes, but given our experience, we were surprised by the restaurant's very high Yelp rating. read more

My parents, kiddos, and I came here after a nice morning at the Hudson Gardens. For a sports bar type vibe, it ended up being quite kiddo friendly and the staff were so fun and checking in on my toddler frequently. The food was well seasoned and fresh. It definitely hit the spot after getting our steps in at the gardens. read more

This is a very cute place. Lots of natural light with large windows. I love the Alaska theme. The service was great. The poppers were okay, I like mine more spicy and less breaded but glad we tried them. The sandwich and fried were delicious. The burger looked smaller but I was still stuff and did not finish my fries. The beers were all delicious. They are also large amounts for a flight, about 7 oz each. read more

This place is a hidden gem. My wife and I were passing by and saw the banner indicating they serve Alaskan Brewing beer, so decided to pop in for a look. We had our dog with us, so asked if we could sit on the patio with her. Our great waiter Adrian brought a water bowl for the doggie without our asking. We perused the menu and the monthly specials board with our mouths watering. They use an elk and beef blend for their burgers, and all the menu items have an Alaskan feel to them. I got the falafel appetizer and the breakfast burger, both monthly specials. The falafels were done just the way I like them, slightly crispy on the outside with a moist and chewy center, with a scrumptious homemade sauce for dipping. The breakfast burger was huge and delicious, with a great big burger patty, a hash brown patty, and a runny fried egg, with lettuce, onion, tomato and cheese. My wife got the smoked salmon spread blended with cream cheese appetizer, served with deliciously fresh raw veggies, capers and baguette slices. She let me have a couple of bites and it was fabulous. We each had a couple of Alaskan beers. Great food, great service, cute interior, nice west-facing patio for a warm afternoon. We'll head back again when we're in downtown Littleton. read more

Had dinner here recently with friends, a small eatery thats very busy. A small francise restaurant with an Alaskan theme. Greeted after a couple minutes, sat by a window with a moose head overhead. Mason jar water glasses, rustic with wood and stone interior. Chips with blue cheese and bacon appetizer was a good start and a twist on chips n salsa. The menu is concise and covers all the bases for most palettes. After giving the menu a good read, I opted for the Elk Meatloaf with gravy over mashed and green beans with bacon. This place specializes in Alaskan food and drink. We each had one of the IPAs. I loved the hazy and he loved the more hoppy one. Service was great and the place had a nice Northwoods feel even though it's in a kind of strip mall. I had the special, halibut fish and chips. The batter was great, very light. The fish may have been a bit overcooked, but it was decent. The French fries were so good, lightly seasoned, super crispy and very hot. My husband had the salmon entree. It had a nice glaze and sautéed veggies. Recommend both. read more

This is an interesting little spot at the end of this little shopping center, so it can be hard to get to. It's worth the trouble, though. I had the Shepherds Pie. It's not unheard of to see elk on the menu, but this Alaska themed bar didn't disappoint. It's a deconstructed "build your own bite" with a dollop of mashed potatoes in the middle of the meat. A neighbor asked "how's the chili?" I am not a massive fan of potatoes and excess carbs so that's fine for me. And for $15 it's plenty of food for two people. I believe we went to the bar in another part of Littleton years ago. But this place opened up in the space which used to be The Lost Cajun, on the corner of Santa Fe and Prince in Littleton. We came in for a drink to try out the new place. It was busy, so we sat at the bar. I couldn't see the beers, so I asked the bartender what beers they had. He pointed at the taps. He was rude and had a bad attitude. He rattled off the beers and I said I'd take the Left Hand. IPA. He said, "No, you won't. That's not an IPA." The beer has left a better taste in my mouth than the experience. Thanks to this guy, I'd rather walk three blocks in the other direction and go to Denver Beer Conpany. There are a lot of places in Littleton to support, and I'd rather go to a place that appreciates their customers. read more

Hannah was our superstar waitress. She is so friendly and considerate. I asked if they serve lemonade and when I learned it came from the soda pop machine, I frowned. Hannah said she could make me a lemonade and proceeded to do so. It was perfect! We have heard the fish and chips were particularly good. The french fries were outstanding, maybe the best I've had in years. The cod was good and the quantity was reasonably generous. This place never disappoints. It's larger than other locations so the wait is always shorter for a table. If you don't start with the crab dip, you've made a mistake. It's delicious and is an absolute must before every meal. Add the extra bread. Trust me on that. I love their burgers, salads and fish and chips. I really enjoyed this little place! It wasn't crowded and the lighting was nice and chill. The dill pickle burger was insane and the wings are perfectly smoked and prepared. I had the featured flavor which was like thai? and then the cajun dry. they were so good and the blue cheese dip had a pile of blue cheese added to it. the white beer was nice and the duck fart made me giggle. I had an incredible time just watching my show on my phone and having my little celebration dinner. The bartender was super helpful and patient with me and when I finally decided on the burger, she reassured me it's good (and she was so right). The 49th Food and Spirits is a spinoff of the original 49th located just west of this location. The restaurant does an amazing job of having a theme of Alaska food and spirits. The menu and drinks all have a connection to Alaska in some way and are unique in their food options. Their special board had some pretty amazing options, including a burger of the month, a featured sauce for the chicken wings, and more great options. I had the burger of the month - Hidden Valley Pickle Burger. They did a great job balancing the pickles wit the other ingredients and the bacon tasted great. I decided to get the white bean and bacon soup as my side which tasted great and had lots of bacon in it. They have a nice selection of beers from Alaska Brewing including my favorite Alaskan Amber. I could come back here many times and always eat different things. I enjoyed my meal and it was large enough that I brought half of it home for the next day. read more

We started visiting the 49th shortly after it opened almost 10 years ago over on Kipling. Always had a great experience and the staff were always welcoming. I sure am glad to see they branched out and things are going well for them because they do make you feel like family, as soon as you walk in the door. The owners have really made this place an extension of what their first location is. The decor, the ambiance, takes me right back to all the great memories I've made at the 49th in Denver. Ok enough of the preamble... elk meatloaf will satisfy your hunger and you might leave with some leftovers. Tasty food for your hungry tummy! The meal was accompanied by an amazing pineapple margarita. Very refreshing for this time of the year. While we rarely leave room for dessert, we decided to go for it and it was delicious. Bristol Bay Bread Pudding with berries, vanilla ice cream and berry sauce.. mouthwatering! They always have specials on the menu. The food and service don't disappoint. Kind of a nice little spot. Inside highlights touches of Alaska (even thought I've never been there). One thing to try is their salmon fish and chips. The food and cocktails were great, some on which included steaming duck fart and the blue cheese chips. The food came out quickly but was not sloppy. We go there early so it was not too crowded but by the time we left it was jumping. This seems to be a very popular eatery with people in the area, for good reason. The only thing that was a negative (and not an extremely bad thing if you are an understanding person) was the staffing. They are obviously understaffed with what looked like one lady to serve the dinning room and bartend. She had help with people from the kitchen to bring out food but she was rushed and could not give personal service to each table. But even though she was being pulled in many directions she was still professional and friendly. If you go here, please do not berate the people who decide to show up for work and give them a tip to show your appreciation for them. This place is a 100% recommend. read more

This my partner and is favorite burger spot in Denver. They have unique ingredients and use a bison/ beef blend for the burger which is so delicious. We wish there was one closer to Arvada but we will drive 30 mins each way for the burgers. Awesome service and neighborhood vibe. read more
