Not so thrilled: Adults were disappointed in the bone-in fried chicken. It's why we came to Stapleton for dinner. Oily and overcooked, one piece each was too much. It was closer to a TV dinner than a place like Tom's Home Cookin (RIP). I know this is a chain, but the quality and taste were not up to par. Noise was suited for a sports bar environment, but wasn't unbearable. Beer and food are ordered in separate locations. I stood where it says to order, then waited 10 minutes to be served. Gave Waldo's a 2nd chance and I'll say they redeemed themselves! Their collard greens are sooo good but omg do not skip out on those onion rings! They were huge, crunchy and delicious! Opted for tenders instead of the half chicken and it was definitely less oily than last time. We stopped in for lunch and there were two long lines, which we thought was a good sign. I ordered the Chicken Scratch Salad, with fried chicken tossed in buffalo ($1 up charge) and my husband ordered the Fried Chicken Plate (1/4 white), with Mac n cheese and white beans. Service was friendly and fast - you order at the counter, then they bring your food out. As soon as he sat the tray down, my husband said "oh no...." He hates onions with a passion and the white beans had a huge mound of raw onions on top. They were so stout, neither of us could smell anything else on the table. I scooped them onto a paper towel and rolled them up. That helped the onion smell greatly, so we were able to eat. My salad was good, no complaints at all, but I would rank it nearly identical to Zaxby's buffalo chicken salad. His chicken was fine, not bad he said, but comparable to "grocery store deli chicken". We were introduced to Waldo's while we were in Tennessee and liked it so we thought we'd give it a try in Denver. We came around 2 pm on a Saturday. It was pretty crowded but we easily got a booth and our food came out quickly. This is similar to cane's but with more choices. My family and I have been wanting to check this place out for a while. Finally ran out of excuses to not and we are glad we did. We were pleasantly surprised. I'm feeling this form of service is becoming more and more common. Not that this changed my dining experience. The restaurant was very clean and the bar was busy. We got our food within 10 minutes of sitting down and the food came out warm. It was nice to know the tenders weren't sitting for a while. The breading on the tenders was really tasty. Better than Slim Chickens and just as good if it not better than Raising Cains. I didn't even realize they have fried pickles, so will definitely try next time I eat here. read more

I went to Waldo's Chicken & Beer while Denver Foos was hosting a watch party, and the experience was extremely disappointing. As soon as I walked in wearing Raiders gear, I was met with an unwelcoming atmosphere. Someone with the group loudly yelled " f*** the b****-a** Raiders" directly at me -- with kids around. It was rude, hostile, and completely uncalled for. Of all our food, the drumstick/thigh combo was the only thing we liked (perfectly cooked). The breast/wing was overcooked. The fries were old. The cheddar biscuits were chewy (also seemed old). The cucumber/tomato salad was over dressed (very soggy). The coleslaw was pretty solid. This was a $50+ take out with about one thing we really liked and one thing that was good.
