Went to brunch here for a special summer date. Food was impeccable. I'm not usually into cajun food, but it was lovely. The eggs had a delicious flavor brought out by the sauce. To start I tried the Bloody Mary. It was decent, a little bit shrimpy for me but I liked the pickle vodka. We shared the beignets, they were good but nothing extraordinary. I also thought they were a huge which I'm used to smaller portions. For my main entree I had the eggs New Orleans. The sauce was way too overpowering for me, it's basically all I tasted. Haven't been to Lucile's in a while! Their beignets are always fantastic! It took me a while to figure out my Lucille's order before I started liking this spot, but now I stick to it! I get the Eggs Eisenhower with potatoes and no additional meat. I also get a beignet every time and have been known to occasionally sample the hot chocolate. A couple of things to know: you can get a singular beignet instead of a whole order. You can mix your grits and potatoes (half half) for the side. You can also get jalapeño cheddar added to your grits for some extra flavor. I believe there's an additional charge for this upgraded side. I have frequented this location the most as it's more central, but I enjoy the Evans location a tiny bit more. Service was good and we waited around 15-20 minutes for a table for two on a Sunday. We sat outside and it was great weather with the sun shining, the fire pit on, and a nice chill. read more

We first attempted lunch at Rebel Bread's café, but they were out of most sandwiches due to a missed delivery. Leven Supply was our second stop, but they had been seized by the State due to unpaid taxes! Fortunately Lucile's is right across Alameda Avenue from Leven and we found them humming along at their usual pace. We were greeted by Brad, a particularly friendly, personable, and efficient server and soon seated in the comfortable dining room which features just the right number of New Orleans-themed tchotchkes. My girlfriend ordered Eggs Sardou which features creamed spinach, Gulf shrimp, poached eggs, and Hollandaise. She chose the jalapeño cheese grits. I had Eggs Pontchartrain with pan-fried mountain trout, poached eggs, and Béarnaise plus the plain cheese grits. My girlfriend had never been to Lucile's. She was thrilled with her dish. The spinach was particularly creamy and savory. Absolutely delicious. My meal was also excellent. Every item was perfectly prepared. I haven't even mentioned the buttermilk biscuits which are each a meal in themselves and come out at the peak of perfection. Lucile's is one of my favorites. Lucille's has quickly become one of our go-to spots for a cozy, Creole-inspired brunch. It's a small chain with multiple locations, and this particular one definitely leans into that charm. That said, it's also pretty cramped, and the wait times can be long (sometimes even longer than quoted). One thing we do appreciate is how they've made the waiting experience more comfortable. There's a somewhat hidden upstairs waiting area that's especially nice during those unpredictable winter days, and you can even grab a drink in a tiny room tucked away on the other side of the dining area. It's a thoughtful touch that helps pass the time. The staff are consistently friendly and create a warm and inclusive atmosphere. As for the food - there's a lot to love. The Eggs Sourdou, Pain Perdu, and Bennifer standout. The jalapeño grits are another highlight. On the flip side, the Cajun breakfast with red beans and rice was a bit much- it became overwhelming after a few bites, so I probably wouldn't go that route again. Overall, the food is impressively comparable to what you'd find in New Orleans, which is such a treat to have close to home. With more Creole spots popping up around town, we're excited to explore and compare- but Lucille's has definitely set a high bar. I went a couple days ago with my two friends and had the loviest time. first of all... It was very busy and you could tell that the staff had a lot on their hands. Second of all the temperature was a little weird and some people really wanted to sit outside while others wanted to sit inside. The host made a very accurate description of how long the wait would be which was 10 minutes within 10 minutes... our third friend got there and we seated at a table for six which was awesome. our waitress was so kind and helped us with our order right away, and they even got us a flight of all the lil jellies/jams. The beignets came out within minutes and our food came out right after. The marmalade was the best thing I've ever had, probably. Mia, our server checked on us multiple times and you could tell she really loved being there. There was no "put on a happy face" hospitality there. everyone seems like they genuinely wanted to be there and help each customer. Came here with a party of 3 on Sunday around 11:30am and it was packed!! There were large parties waiting outside so I was weary there would be a long wait. We opted for sitting at the bar so we didn't actually have to wait too long, maybe 10 minutes max? Others with larger parties had to wait 25+ minutes though. I ordered the Red Beans and Rice which came topped with andouille sausage and pulled pork. It came with their Buttermilk Biscuits, and because I like savory biscuits I ordered a side of Gravy to go with it. At the end of the meal I had Beignets for dessert. This was a LOT of food for one person, but it was SOOOO good!! The Buttermilk Biscuit came out first and it was a huge, literally bigger than my fist. They have homemade jams to go with the Biscuits and even ketchup in-house that they offer at the tables. The Red Beans and Rice was probably the best that I've ever had outside of NOLA! The portion for this (and all dishes ordered) was pretty big as well but I was determined to finish it all before catching a ride to the airport. It's been over 4 years since I visited Lucille's near my home. During my morning walk, I saw their fire pit operating and went inside. Their menu has several New Orleans favorites and typical Creole dishes. I started with a Chicory coffee brewed strong. I wanted a healthier breakfast, so I got Lucy's Oatmeal. It was a large bowl with probably 3 servings of oatmeal with a sliced banana, & apple + brown sugar. I added a link of hot Louisiana sausage and a biscuit. The biscuit was very large. They had wrapped butter pats on the table with a jar of orange marmalade. Jersey was my server, but several other servers provided coffee refills and brought out my order. Nice relaxing environment. When I got the bill, I saw an odd "Send charge" of $ 0.25; I asked the servers, but got incomplete answers. A manager came over and said it was increasing expenses. The amount was only 1.25% of the food amount so it's not a card surcharge. Usually restaurants will add a service charge or wage fee, not a vague poorly worded add-on. I ordered the creole omelet, and a friend of mine ordered the blueberry pancakes special (which is the closest you'll get to a traditional breakfast). My favorite part of the meal was the fresh squeezed orange juice - pulpy, bright and delicious. I had the traditional and my friend tried the New Orleans style. Neither of us had see it before with eggplant in place of the muffin and a Creole style marinara in place of the hollandaise. First time at Lucile's....we came in hungry with great expectations. Place wasn't busy (about 11:30am on a weekday). I ordered eggs Benedict; husband ordered a sandwich. Food came out in five (5) minutes...we were so surprised and even told the food runner that they must have read our minds in the kitchen. At first glance at my plate after the food runner left, there was maybe a tablespoon of hollandaise. I made contact with our waitress - she asked if I wanted and EXTRA side of hollandaise and I told her I just wanted a regular portion; she returned with a thimble of sauce and that was the end of her service for our table. Then I realized why the food took only five minutes to arrive after we ordered - none of it seemed prepared, just assembled haphazardly in the kitchen - I asked for crispy potatoes (they were mushy and definitely not grilled for our order); the English muffin was not toasted, which made it hard to cut with the butter knife provided. Actually, nothing was hot; likely prepared in advance and just plated. The waitress walked by our table three (3) times and never so much as slowed down or look at us or our table. The first two times I noticed and thought she's just spacing out, but after the third time, it was apparent that she was purposely ignoring us. After that realization, we just wanted to LEAVE. Finally, the food runner noticed that I was looking around and came to our table so I asked HIM for the check. Then our helpful waitress appeared with the check; I paid and even tipped her like a fool, then walked out to the parking lot with the feeling of "what just happened in there?" Called the manager (partner) at a later date to tell him about our experience; he didn't offer to bring us back or comp a meal for a return visit. So sad, I was so looking so forward to trying the beignets with our meal. Bad service, bad meal.... just doesn't make me want to come back to give them any more of my hard-earned money. read more

Came here on a Sunday morning, and as expected, it was busy. Here's a tip: if you're in a small group and don't mind sitting at the bar, ask to sit at the bar. I got their famous Bloody Mary, and as a Bloody Mary lover I was not disappointed. They have one of the most unique garnishes I have ever seen! Desperate for some flavor, I doused my dish with hot sauce, but it was homemade hot sauce that lacked any heat whatsoever. I think it made my unseasoned dish less spicy somehow. The beignets were really dense and were more like cake donuts than beignets. They tasted fine, but they weren't what we thought we were ordering. And it was very warm and welcoming. The staff here were all friendly and quick to assist you. We all ordered some caffeine to get us started (I myself got a latte which ended up not being my favorite it had not much flavor). Everyone was drinking the famous bloody Mary's and enjoying the beautiful weather outside. I haven't had a poboy in a while since I haven't been home for some time. I wanted the staple item that reminded me of home. Reading the menu, I was a little confused on the "toppings" for the poboy since they were not your typical items. I opted anyways because I trusted the chef's decision to add these toppings. I was somewhat letdown unfortunately just because to me it didn't taste like a true poboy. The French bread didn't have that crunch a poboy should have also. Like I said in the earlier part of the review, I can't dock the restaurant for one time I myself don't like too much. The gumbo was great and although the roux was a little thick it still was full of flavor. Can never go wrong with gumbo. Staff was great and killin' it for how busy they were. I had the creole omelet, and wasn't shy at loading it up with the creole seasoning on the table nor the hot sauce, also already on the table. I was questioned about putting cheese on everything, I said yes, I suggest you do the same, and go with the jalapeno. Their iced tea was too sweet for me, but you...do you. I just caved and got an IPA, and wife got the prosecco, which came in a classy bottle and classy glass. Isabella was nice enough not to charge me for my two sips of the sweet iced tea. I admittedly am not a biscuit person. But, if I could imagine what a great biscuit tasted like, it would be this one. Some kind of jam and butter already on the table.
