I have been a fan of Smashburger since they opened one in Boulder. I heard from another Yelper friend (thanks Samantha) that there was now one near the hospital complex in Aurora and needing a few dinner options this week, I tried it. It is small and quiet at dinner compared to Boulder, which can be a mobbed at this time. But the food was fresh and quick and the staff incredibly friendly and I heard that lunch and shift change times are their "rush" hours. I would absolutely eat here again when in the area. I came here to fulfill a huge order and the ladies were very much happy to accommodate me. They had the wonderful 4 large orders of burgers, fries and drinks perfected in under 20 minutes. They even provided me with double bagging my order so it doesn't collapse. I love the interaction with these ladies and they gave me some good zesty, fry sauce. Oh my royal burger goodness I am in delish heaven!!! First time here and came due to my fellow Yelper reviews. I'm so glad I did. This is the very best fast food burger I've ever had. Super juicy, meaty, yummy goodness with fresh avocado, crisp lettuce, tomato and a soft fresh bundy bun bun. It made me do a happy dance for days. The food was great, don't get me wrong, I love smashburger. there is just nothing significant that sets this apart from the others. it looks like they're building a landing for the tram here so this place should get a lot busier here in the next year or two. smart location, smashburger. It looked to be minimal staffing here, a total of 3 maybe 4 workers. the dine area was a bit dirty, saw a half eaten but sitting on the floor, not sure how long it had been there but no big deal. Overall good experience, we accidently came here for opening day a few months ago, didn't even know it was like that but we were planning on a different restaurant in the same area and decided to come here instead. You know what's really great? Spending several hours at the hospital with a 2 year old, finally leaving at 9pm, finally finding somewhere to eat that's still open (and decent)... only to find a handwritten sign on the door that says they closed early. My favorite part were the employees and manager (I'm assuming based on the guy in street clothes instead of a uniform) straight up ignoring us instead of even giving a reason or explanation. I first tried SMASHBURGER in Vienna, VA a couple years ago. It was good, no complaints. Haven't had it in a while and was craving it yesterday before I left Denver. Ordered the bbq bacon single and the the truffle mushroom and Swiss. Both burgers were pink, runny and clearly undercooked. No seasoning whatsoever and the bacon was undercooked as well. Definitely a great burger, and I certainly consider myself a burger aficionado! We had a gift card and wanted to give it a try... Fast casual burgers... First impression was, "I'm eating in a strip mall off of Colorado Blvd?", but that feeling dissipated quickly; nice warm entrance from the cold outdoors, low-ish and intimate lighting, rather clean, and was very busy (which was in and of itself quite reassuring.) We were greeted authentically with a nice big smile and proceeded to order, and while ordering, other staff felt free to make fun recommendations. Menu had a nice array of healthy options, including "veggie frites" -- green beans and carrots in long shapes like fries! While waiting for the food, there was plenty of marketing/decor around the restaurant to learn what "Smashburger" is all about.... biggest thing is the great info about the beef itself. Food arrived, wasn't as ordered, but the server was VERY apologetic... I didn't take a picture of our food because neither were truly photo-ready, AT ALL..... but both tasted amazing and that's what packs them in... not about presentation, certainly! I would recommend, however, that they work on this, as other fast-casual places are much better at presentation.... HOPDODDY at Union Station is a great example. My mushroom, swiss, truffle oil burger was delicious, but it looked flat, colorless, not appealing at all... but tasted amazing! I am having Smashburger withdrawals and the pain is excruciating! I was in Denver three weeks ago. After I checked into my hotel, a friend picked me up and asked what I wanted for dinner. Burgers are my weakness so he took me to Smashburger. OMG!!! I order the regular with a side of haystack onion rings. I thought I died and was sitting in heaven with one of the best burgers I ever ate!!! The place was bright and comfortable, the folks very friendly and the food incredible. Great price for a fresh burger. So many choices of topings! The classic burger has great flavor and a great tangy sauce on it. The fries are skinny and come with seasoning if so desired. Right on their door it says they don't close until 9:30 yet if you try to walk in at 9:25 the door is locked. Pathetic. I've worked as a server at a sit down restaurant and I've had to serve people that walked in a minute before closing. And this is a fast food place?! I have been excited to write this review! This smash burger rocks. So besides the delicious food, this review is specifically in regards to their customer service. One of my best friends works at Children's Hospital. He had a root canal so I wanted to bring him a milkshake to make his day better. Unfortunately I couldn't get off work so I just thought I would do a shot in the dark and see if there was any way Smash Burger would go above and beyond. I talked with the manager Cherl who was so kind and she ended up running a shake over across the street to my friend. They get one star because that's the only way I can leave a review. Now the fries are a lost cause. The person at the register will serve up lunch to the 3 takeout orders behind my takeout order. He will give you the fat fries when you order the skinny smash fries tossed in rosemary and garlic. They were my one happiness. This guy! This guy says they've never had skinny cut fries and he won't apologize you had to wait for your one item order behind 3 big orders even though your one item was before theirs in line. Then he will yell at you. The best part was when the off duty employee comes in and starts grabbing stuff off tall shelves in the kitchen and in the shake area. With no hairnets! One for the long hair swinging around and 2 for those pits you're flapping all over in your tank top. No one wants sweaty armpit hair on their beverage cup or in their not skinny cut fries. First time there; the photos I saw of the burgers there were amazing as my mouth started watering! Just thinking of the juicy burger awaiting for me! I'd add a milkshake to top it off the picture looked like a good size one! We sat awaiting our meal... I was shocked to see this "Slider" sized burger and a small sized milkshake :( .... thinking to myself... I'll be fine I'll never go back. 7.99 for a burger and 4.99 for a tiny shake. That was 13 plus bucks for a small snack. Thank goodness my friend shared some of hers. If the food was the size shown on these pictures I would have given them a 5 star, but as you see one star. Secondly, the shop was dirty, poorly staffed, 2 cooks 1 cashier/server. We had to go to the cashier several times for food left out of the burger an avocado should be on a Bacon, Avocado Cheese sandwich ... Right? If you go, check you food and say to yourself that the pictures of the food are LARGER than you will receive. I went in today during the busy lunch time. And the manager Sherly was so amazing. They were clearly busy but her crew and herself made it look so easy. She made me feel like I was the only one there. And you can tell she is a great manager because every crew person was just as polite as she was. I was checked on but the manager, cashier and I believe the cook as well. Every person working was there for the customers. My food was fresh but my customer service was even better. Their service was just amazing from the time I walked in and even to the time I walked out. The food was delicious but how they made me feel today will keep me coming back for more.
