I just completed a move with this company, and it was a very positive experience. I needed a couch and 2 recliner chairs moved from Scottsdale to Chandler and then added a couple of small items... From the beginning until the end of the experience, I am so happy.. Darren (the owner) helped me with the reservation based on my needs, and his crew showed at my father's Scottsdale address with great communication...even my father was impressed... The crew then delivered to my place in Chandler in less than an hour... The crew helped me adjust the furniture in their desired place, and I appreciated that given my disability issue. I highly recommend this company and will use them again when I need to move things. "Don't trust the 5 stars" So I hate leaving a bad review for a business, I really really do. I've pondered today wither i should do so. The conclusion i have came to is yes I should. So i noticed the 5 stars they had good ratings so i called. I had a small move. A two bedroom apartment on the 3rd story. I was moving a bed that sits on a frame. 2 dressers, a cubed stand, a love seat a crib, small beauty desk and about approximately 32 boxes. 1-2 hrs in: The movers arrived at my home at 9:48am. Two men in a Silverado with an enclosed trailer in tow. I show them what needs to be moved and they slowly begin. The night prior i moved all the boxes into the living room for East access. About an hr in, i look in my living room and about 7 boxes had been moved. I walked downstairs and asked if they would like water. They said yes and asked if i could run to the store for Gatorades and one mover asked if i could pick him up some food. He offered to give me cash but i advised i would pay. I got back with the drinks, and breakfast sandwiches for both. I walked to the second landing and about 10 boxes were sitting there. NONE OF WHICH WERE IN THE TRUCK. 2-4 hrs. During the 3rd hour i began to get nervous. Most boxes pre stacked and made easily accessible were still lingering. The guys were talking by the truck as my stuff still sat there. I went to my truck and as i was walking back i seen one of my kitchen boxes tumbling down the stairs. My neighbor caught it on his camera as well. On the 4th hr of a two bedroom move they said we are going to need to make a 2nd trip. So we head to the new location 7 min down the road. They proceed to pull up and begin work. They dump everything in the kitchen and random items in the garage. This takes an hour and a half to do. With easy access. 5-6 hrs in. They close the truck and head back to the apartment. The items left are the bed couch and crib,small dresser and beauty desk. They take almost another two hrs with this. I began to carry items down the crib, drawers and clothes to put in my car. I walk upstairs at one point and a mover is going though my cabinet looking for food and drinking my wife's drinks without asking. I have them wrap up there. I left some items behind because i did not want them to take another 6 hours. When we got to the house. I had them unloaded they took my bed upstairs and that was it. I asked them to put everything else in the living room and that was fine. They quoted me 7.5 hrs and said they will take off 30 for all the breaks they had. Total was $823. I was quoted 4hrs worst case 5. Got their money like a dummy and they left. I should have calculated the time. It was only 6 hrs they had been moving my small two bedroom apartment. I left them to go they the money. My friends showed up and said the same hungry fellow was rummaging through my pantry. Bring your own food dude. Aftermath: i noticed immediately boxes were opened and items were broke and damaged. I called the owner, and he was somewhat friendly and game me a $99 deposit back. But as the day went on, more and more items were broke and damaged. I will be following up again on this. But please don't trust the reviews. And if you have anything bigger than a coat closet. I would avoid at all costs. The $99 back was not enough to cover the broken items. I will be following up with the owner unless he wants to follow up with me first. Sorry for the long winded explanation, and i hate leaving this for a small business. BUT I pay for a service that i expected to be completed and charged for the correct amount of time. I would hope they would expect the same thing if this was flipped. And i would have hated to see the time and cost of going up the stairs. The last movers that moved us in. 3.5 hrs for the same stuff the same time of year.BUT... they had to go up the stairs. read more

I was originally quoted $194 for 2 hours and three man team to move my fridge, sectional, washer/dryer and a dresser to my new house just 7 miles away. It took over 3 hours to complete this job and I ended up paying $304 for my walls/ sheet metal corners to be damaged, loose and missing screws on my fridge, wood splinters stuck in my couch fibers, dents and missing paint on my washer/dryer. None of my items were wrapped in plastic or covered with blankets to protect them. I also waited 7 days for my deposit to be returned after paying cash but I was assured that I would be taken care of and that he didn't forget. At first I was understanding of some of the issues that I experienced during the move, from the owner saying his team quit on him so he had to hire temp guys. He also didn't have the proper tools to take the doors off my fridge to get it out of the house so it took longer than anticipated. This should not have been an issue since I made sure to ask when booking if this was ok for them to do so. But after further examining my belongings after the move and seeing the damages I am not happy with the service I received/ paid for. I watched the temp guys drag my washer/dryer across the concrete instead of using the dolly they had available which ruined the rubber feet on the bottom. They also rammed my fridge into the walls of my new home multiple times with a dolly after I asked them to stop more than once. When the owner was made aware of the wall damage he just made an excuse for them saying that he took his eyes off of them for 2 seconds and he hoped I had paint to cover it up. I was hoping to be compensated for the damages since the sheet metal corners were dented but nothing was offered. My brand new fridge that is less than six months old now makes a constant creaking/knocking sound from the bottom freezer door that it never made prior to moving. My husband and I tried to figure out why it was happening and found there was missing screws as well as screws that were not properly tightened causing the doors to wobble and the weight to be unevenly distributed. Sadly even after trying to fix the problem my brand new fridge makes the loud noise after you open and close the freezer door and it drives me insane. Not to mention that the electrical components on the top weren't properly put back together so my fridge upon arrival wasn't working at all until I took apart the top panel to examine the issue. I could have just saved myself money and the headache by doing the job myself with the help of friends who would have taken better care of my stuff. It was blatantly obvious that the temp guys had zero experience. As a military veteran I have moved around a lot in the past 10 years and I have never had this bad of an experience before now. In a effort to keep this on the shorter side I only mentioned the major issues I had in my experience but I would not use this company again in the future and I wouldn't recommend it to family or friends. read more

I called on a Thursday night and Darren was able to squeeze in my single item move for the upcoming Saturday. Some of the scheduling issues were on my end , as I had to coordinate with a family member. I say issues, but I was warned that I would need to be a little flexible if I wanted the move to happen on Saturday, so the time got pushed back a smidge, but not horribly, and it was very well communicated. The item of furniture came wrapped and covered. Two, very professional guys. They even took a second to make sure it was placed just right. I originally was able to move the stuff with my wife, but broke my thumb in the intern. After calling around for some quotes and looking over ratings on here, I went with these guys. This is the most unprofessional company I've ever used. I wouldnt even give them one star. The guys who the owner sent were supposed to be professionals but turned out to be a young guy and a man who wasn't able to carry a lot. He dropped an old picture luckily not damaging it as the other guy just watched him go up and down the stairs.The worst was the man who wasn't able to carry a lot ran his trailer into my truck door. The company owner would not admit fault. They took off before giving insurance information. I later received a text from the company owner telling me he would not be paying for the damage his guys did to the truck door and his insurance company is going to dispute the claim. We believe that is is CRITICAL that anyone considering using Small Move Specialists carefully read our account of a recent move by them. We cannot predict future experiences but history should guide your choice of a mover. Small Move Specialists moved us on 3 prior occasions with reasonable care and cost and in in a professional manner. However, our recent move was a true Horror Story. Their "crew" consisted of 1 experienced mover, his 11 year old son and a very large, 19 year old mover. They moved expensive, fragile Teak bedroom furniture that was delivered only wrapped in plastic and with no protective mover's blankets as both the Seller and Buyer can confirm, even though I cautioned the owner on two prior phone calls that the crew must take Special Care in moving these fragile and expensive items. No only did they not use Special Care, they did not exercise Ordinary & Reasonable care. They scraped the bottom of the large, heavy cabinet and dresser on their flatbed truck in my presence. They brought in the Teak platform bed pieces unwrapped and unprotected in our hall. They were friendly but highly unprofessional. We paid the movers as agreed per their hourly rate and saw no obvious damage at that time. However, later that evening we noticed a large chip and damage to bottom of the side of one piece. The damages is visible to us if you are laying on the ground but is very significant. We reported the damage by phone and later by email that morning when the owner failed to respond "in a few minutes" as his voice mail states. Incredibly, the owner's response was harsh, speculative, threatening and defamatory and relied upon pure speculation that lacked any foundation whatsoever or relationship to what actually transpired. in his written, rambling, response, he accused two senior citizens, one disabled & recovering from major surgery, the other a petite 68 year old woman, of causing the damage by somehow moving these heavy pieces after the movers left ( a physical impossibility), threatened us with legal action if we wrote a negative review, (attempting to abridge our 1st Amendment rights), threatened us on a myriad of other issues, defamed our character (slander), refused to Inspect or Pay for damage (lacked due diligence) obviously caused by them. The owner even ADMITS THT HIS CREW OBSERVED NO DAMAGE upon their inspection PRIOR to loading the pieces on their truck, yet he accuses us of causing the damage and attempting to file a false claim. Moreover, the owner stated that he appeared in Small Claims Court on 5 prior occasions. That alone should be a huge RED FLAG to any prospective user of his services and his threats may account for the lack of many negative reviews. However, my wife and I are retired professionals and not easily intimidated. Whereas we always try to support small business, it was clearly a mistake to trust this particular vendor. Accordingly, we immediately filed a formal Complaint with the Arizona BBB and offered to provide additional evidence as to the exceptional condition of the furniture prior to pickup by the movers and the damaged condition after the move by SMALL MOVE SPECIALISTS. Accidents can and do happen but any mover MUST provide Reasonable Care in protecting & moving fragile homeowner items. In our case, they clearly failed to do so Moreover, they refused to inspect or pay for any damage when duly notified in a timely manner and threatened us with legal action if we truthfully made others aware of our experience as we are doing now. Whereas our 3 prior moves went without a hitch and all pieces were brought in our house properly wrapped in mover's blankets and unloaded without damage, that was absolutely NOT the case in this instance. Further, the owners abhorrent response was unprofessional and unnecessary. His angry, rambling, threatening, written response wherein he admits that his crew saw no damage to the subject item but refuses to inspect or pay for the damage now demonstrates that he is acting in Bad Faith when advised of a serious problem We are LIVID that an ostensibly easy move wherein the owner was advised to take Special Care in moving rare, fragile and expensive Teak furniture chose instead to send the B crew and take NO care, instead threatening his clients with alleged legal action and refusing to take any further steps to address or remedy our claim Our advice: AVOID THIS MOVER LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! read more

I am not one that typically writes reviews but felt I needed to write one about this company. My father passed away earlier this year and I needed to find a moving a company that would be able to move a few pieces of heavy furniture from his home to a storage unit a couple of miles away. I called around to multple companies to see if they were able to accommodate a smaller move at a better price. After about 7 companies telling me it would cost well over $400 (for a bed, dresser and armoire) I found Small Move Specialist. I called and talked to Darren who gave me a quote and scheduled his crew to come out the following day! Not only did they call me an hour ahead of time, they carefully wrapped all my furniture in saran wrap and loaded it in the truck. I had a few extra smaller pieces that I planned on taking over myself to save money and not go over the hour marker, but they said they were happy to help with those too at no extra charge. Loaded everything up and followed me to the storage facility. Unloaded it all and neatly placed all of the items in the unit like Tetris to maximize space. They were respectful, personable and sincere the entire time. Also, somehow they managed to load, unload and help me with all my smaller stuff all in one hour to the minute! I tipped the drivers $50 for taking such great care of my dad's stuff and highly recommend you call Small Move Specialist regardless of how big or small of a moving job you have. I was pleased to have found a mover that specializes in small moves for apartments. The move went great and the moving staff were courteous and communicated with me every step of the way. My contents were moved carefully from a 2nd floor condo from N Phoenx to Maricopa. I was particularly nervous about a large wooden cabinet that needed to be partially dissembled.
