This was my first time using Academy Movers, and Nathan, Wayne, and Ryder were truly the best. Moving isn't fun, especially when you're used to doing it alone, but these gentlemen made the entire experience unbelievably easy. Even if you're already packed, they come prepared with extra boxes, wrapping, and anything you might need for those last‑minute items or unexpected loose pieces. That alone took so much pressure off. I also know being in someone's personal items can be a lot, and they handled everything with so much respect and care. Since everything was already packed up and I didn't even have water to offer during the move, I made sure to grab them Starbucks once we arrived, and it definitely hit the spot. They did it again! I had them move my daughter in Sept 2024. My boss got married in Sedona in June 2025 and had half a truck of event style furniture that needed to go from Tempe to Sedona and back (they stored it overnight to make the timing work). The 3 guys were all helpful and got the work done in the time estimated. There was a lot of coordination at delivery and I hopped in to expedite the process and project manage a bit. They were curteous about the direction (me being a little bossy) and nailed the project! They did a great job wrapping it all and picking it back up the next day in Sedona to return it to Tempe. I cannot recommend them enough! Love the work ethic and their mission. Set your expectations accordingly. Recently made a move from Chandler to Maricopa AZ and Academy Movers was a fantastic company to work with. Que, in their office, worked with me on my many time/date changes to match my ever-shifting closing date, which I really appreciated. My movers were Arman, Shane and Corbin. Each were very respectful and worked so quickly. They took care with my items, wrapping things up tightly and removed all the wrap before going which was helpful. They also put together two sets of brand new bedroom furniture straight from the boxes, which was especially helpful, so my kids could sleep in their beds that night. The whole move, including a 45 min drive and putting the furniture together took under 6 hours. This was for a 5 bed, two story home so I was thoroughly surprised/appreciative and made sure my tip reflected that. There was true value in the service offered. Although I hope the house I bought is my forever home, so there'll be no reason to move again, I will definitely recommend them to anyone who needs movers in the future! read more

What a great experience! Moving can be a nightmare but this team of movers made it smooth and stress free. I got 10 quotes and theirs was the best. Very nice and professional. I saved over $100 and got great service. At one point my dogs got scared in the new neighborhood. I panicked but they stayed calm and even tried to help get the dogs back in the house. I found Volken Academy Moves on Facebook. McKay was very helpful and I was happy to learn they would also move my baby grand piano at a very reasonable price in addition to the cost of the move. I reached out to them about 2 months before we were set to move. All of my questions and concerns were answered including that they would take a few items that we did not want and would donate them to charity. Alex, George and Sammy arrived on time and worked nonstop wrapping our furniture and loading our items. They took great care of our large oversized items and antique furniture. George did a great job packing the truck as full as possible. They were very professional and friendly. After a 2 hour drive to our new home, they loaded the truck with the same care and concern for our items. Hopefully we won't be moving again, but if we do, I would definitely use Academy Movers again and highly recommend them. read more

Thousands of dollars worth of furniture destroyed. I called them to inform them of this and they began with "Well did you sign the insurance policy". No apology, no remorse, they did not care that I had entrusted them with my belongings that were now destroyed. I'm no expert in moving, but I could deduce that a tv should not be placed at the bottom of furniture. I provided inflated bubble wrapping to protect the tv. I suppose they thought this meant it was safe to place it at the very bottom of the truck. It is now not functioning and needs to be replaced. To end up with furniture that had entire holes in them is despicable. Beloved wooden furniture covered in scratches despite moving blankets being provided. There are more photos of the damage than I could attach here. The most frustrating part was that the company started regaling me about how I could make a claim for insurance rather than trying to assuage my feelings on the matter. read more

They did an excellent job wrapping all the large pieces and their patience and attention to details was outstanding. At best I can say that Academy moving company was reasonably priced, but there was someting missing, like common sense. No one seemed capable of asking me questions, and at age 82, I do not wish to be the person who monitors their every move. The movers left items in my hall bath, along with two large rugs in the garage, and the truck was gone! They seemed a bit disoriented as to the order of packing items and obviously no one went back through the rooms to check for items possibly left behind. My ivy plants came through a few crushed vines, but they will revive. When they arrived at my new residence, about 5 miles away, they placed the twin bed frames BACKWARD on the floor, with mattresses on top. My handy man came the next day and corrected the situation. They broke something in one of the drawers in my chest of drawers, with a piece of the drawer missing. No, I cannot recommend this company because they simply did not display the command and control of the entire process as other companies I've hired in the past. read more

Based on their Yelp reviews, decided to reach out to them for our local move and so happy I went with them! Spoke to McKay and he was very communicative and tentative. I was looking for someone asap and he actually came by to look around my old place make sure I'm getting the right quote and what's to be expected! It was quick! He confirmed with us before the day of the move and we got 3 young men that came right on time at 8am! They were all respectful, diligent and hard working. They were taking their time and communicating with each other alot to make sure everything was covered and who does what and who goes where. At the new house, I had a rule since we also got the carpets cleaned that each time they enter the bedrooms to wear booties and dispose them and grab new ones to enter again and they were really good about doing that! It was past lunch time and they weren't getting any breaks and they were still working hard so I decided to buy them In and Out lunch and told them to take a little break to eat their lunch. They ended around 4pm and one of the young men was in charge of the check out process. He also gave us a booklet on how John Volken Academy movers came about and what their mission was. We recently completed a move from the city of Maricopa to Bisbee Arizona and I've just got to say that I would highly recommend John Volken academy for any move. These guys were so conscientious. They were very respectful and treated my belongings with so much care. I have A LOT of stuff and they were able to Tetris everything into the truck with not an inch to spare from the smallest box to the giant double door refrigerator. There were no problems only solutions. These guys arrived at my house promptly at 8:00 a.m. and did not leave my new home until well after midnight. Absolutely no complaints just muscles and smiles.
