The slice works on Colfax is my favorite pizza place in Colorado. I have been a loyal customer for at least 10 years. Being from brooklyn people, always ask me which is my favorite pizza joint. I only have one answer. Slice Works.. My favorite Italian sandwich is either a chicken, meatball, or sausage parmesan, My wife was Sicilian. from little Italy in New York. I know what a good sandwich tastes and looks like. I asked all the right questions before I ordered the chicken parm, is it a fresh chicken breast. Freshly made, is it deep fried or cooked in the oven. Is it pretty tender to chew. It was definitely overcooked, crusty all around the edge kind of overcooked. I asked for a little extra sauce and he gave me a little plastic cup of PIZZA sauce unheated to put on I was not in the mood for an argument. And was very hungry. So I decided to eat half the sandwich. The chicken was as thin as a slice of pizza. Not good, the taste. Was so so and again tough to chew. $17 with a Dr Pepper. The thing that really upsets me is. I could not send a direct message to their website. It would not take it, and I left 2 voicemails with all my contact information and as of Saturday they have not returned my call. White, grandmas, and stuffed veg are my go-tos here. Side of blue cheese and red sauce. Flavor variety, cheap, and quick. And absolutely my favorite late night eats. This spot is always crushing the unique za flavor game and are pretty incredible to watch in high-stress environments (aka, 2am when the bars let out). They often have free pizza snackies to give ya a little taste while you are waiting. My husband is from NYC and claims that this was the closest he could find to NYC pizza in his 8 years in Denver. read more

The area might be a little bit sketchy if you're not used to Colfax, but it's great pizza! There is a ton of parking, so you don't have to worry about street parking and meters. They have a downstairs section if you are ordering to-go or want to see the pizza options. If you are dinning in or looking for alcohol then the 2nd story is where you'll want to be. They do most of their pizza's by the slice. They are fairly large so two is usually enough for me. My go to is the Buffalo Chicken! It's just the delicious kick I need every time. They also have garlic knots for 50 cents a piece! Good place if you want to sample different slices and don't want to invest in a whole pizza. read more

Sliceworks is still one of my favorite takeout/delivery spots in town. And I stand by everything in my first review. Great pizza, good salads, and hearty, tasty hot sandwiches. I've only had it delivered a couple of times before. But in light of the crazy world we live in right now, I had a bunch of food delivered in case restaurants were suddenly closed. Pizza is great as leftovers, as are their sandwiches. So I ordered both. And a salad. The fine folks at Sliceworks delivered my food as requested--and surprisingly quickly, but they realized the salad was missing when they arrived. They left a note (my food was left at the door by request), then returned with my salad (and a free cannoli) before I even noticed it was missing. That cannoli was a smart move. I'd never ordered one from Sliceworks before. But now that I've tasted them, I'll probably be adding them to every order. I've had a hard time finding good cannoli in Denver (with mascarpone, not whipped or pastry cream). Who knew I should have been looking at Sliceworks? read more

Very solid attempt at East Coast pizza. Passed the fold and drip oil test. Passed the crispy crust test. Not that crazy how they do the sausage, its sliced and not crumbled, its somewhere in between but good flavor. The extra mozzarella on the reheated sausage slice was a little wierd but tasted ok. The boyfriend wanted an impromptu pizza date night after a night of Pogo and as the snow was accumulating, and a quick Google search found this to be the closest one. Social distancing was definitely being enforced and it wasn't very crowded. They have an upstairs with a bar which is pretty neat and it overlooks a main street for some good people-watching, especially with a sex shop across the street, hehehe. The server was UBER-friendly, like he came over and offered "SNACKS," complimentary little white pizza strips for us to munch on while we looked over the menu. Like yeah, you get a menu at the table and your order taken and it brought out to you, unlike normal pizza joints. Checked up on us enough, chatted a bit of Pokemon ;) and gave us a very pleasant experience! I'm from NY, so I can be a bit of a pizza snob; I got the cheeseburger something-or-other, but would love to go back and try my classic go-to pepperoni slice! Me and my co-worker like to try different pizzas in the Denver area and this was ok pizza, the sauce was sweet but lacked a little bit of that pizza sauce flavor it was a runny but still not bad. When's the last time you went into a pizza shop and were greeted with a "Hi, how ya doing? Here's a taste of our pizza." "Uhhhhhhhh. What!?! Ummmm, OK. That's really nice of you. Thanks," I said. And it was, indeed, really nice. They'd cut up a delicious freshly baked slice into maybe 6-8 mini-wedges and were handing it out to everyone who entered. Gotta love that kinda marketing and customer service. However, I then made a mistake. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and a slice of vodka (?!) pizza. I say it was a mistake because the pieces at Sliceworks seem to be bigger than your usual take-out slice size, and 2 pieces was, for me, more than I should have ordered for lunch. Nonetheless, thinking of my fellow yelpers, I forced myself through both pieces and can report that they are absolutely a rock solid 4 star pizza shop. I'd ordered a couple of their NY style pizzas and they had all the right elements: A crisp crust, capable of being folded; a follow-up chewy dough consistency, complimenting the initial crunchiness of each bite; quality sauce, cheese and spices, and a nice after-taste of oregano'ed olive oil. Excellent slices! They have a much larger menu than most places that focus just on pizza, and some of their varieties looked incredibly tempting (like what was billed as their Brooklyn Pizza). Gotta check that out next time. You can look through all the pizza reviews on Yelp, and you'll see lots of places rated as 5 stars; or at least individual yelp reviews giving out 5 star ratings like local Emmies at a broadcast events dinner. Me? I've never rated one higher than 4 stars, which for me is an excellent pizza rating. It's not that I'm a pizza snob. It's just that I've never found a pizza a could honestly say was the best I could imagine putting in my mouth. Sliceworks, however, has about the finest pizza I've tasted in Denver so far. Maybe verging on that elusive 5 stars. But I'm not going to be hasty. This is an important issue. So I'm going to go back to start working my way through their menu. And hey, I'm doing this for you. Jake and I got some pretty tasty pizza and drinks at Sliceworks. We used the Yelp check-in offer for free garlic knots. They were really good! We both ordered two slices of pizza, but we're not big eaters, so it ended up being way too much food. The slices tasted fresh and hot. I loved the baked potato and buffalo chicken pizza. The grandma style was good, but a little too dense for me. We sat at the bar upstairs and had a great chat with the bartender. My mixed drink was delicious and Jacob really enjoyed his beer. The only negative about our visit was the high bill, but we were on vacation and these things tend to happen! We'll definitely visit again next time we're in Denver. read more

After running some errands in this Neighborhood, Hubs and I decide to purchase some Pizza from this establishment TO GO aka TAKE AWAY. Thankfully we managed to find a parking spot, behind this establishment which share its parking location with some other business listings. Anyhoos, from their extensive Menu, we opt what is available since Hubs just want to "get done with it" aka ordering the Pizza. From what I could recall we opt to have the following : * Special Pizza Of The Month which if I could recall properly was something with Jalapeno "Popper" Pizza * Green Chili - housemade green chili sauce and mozzarella * White Pizza - seasoned ricotta, mozzarella and parmigiano Each Pizza Slice cost was $4.00. We opt to have 2 Slices EACH from the Special Pizza Of The Month, The White Pizza and the Green Chili Pizza. Once we order our Pizza, the staffs put our order and some other Patrons order in their PIZZA OVEN, and this took like about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting time. Maybe next time, we would just ask to pack it in the Box, WITHOUT Pre-Heating the Pizza. This recent visit was on TUESDAY October 7th 2014. Time was about 20:00hrs ish. When we got home, Hubs nuke the Pizza in the Microwave for several seconds, though I prefer the OVEN to do the heating, here is our VERDICT. Hubs like the Green Chili Slice as his Favorite. Same goes to me. I am OK with both the White and Special Pizza Slice Of The Month. The Specials comes with that Jalapeno Berry Jam of somekind. Hence the Pizza is somewhat spicy and sweet at the same time. As for the White Pizza, its like OVERLOADED with Cheese since it was seasoned with ricotta, mozzarella and parmigiano. Those White Pizza received our least favorite. YES, there are plenty of seating upstairs and some downstairs. I think we would stick downstairs. We visited this place because it was listed as the best pizza in Colorado. The place looks like a fun place to go for a drink or two and watch a game. You can order pizza by the slice or whole pie upstairs if you want. I went with the Buffalo chicken pizza and then their pizza special which was like a BLT. My mother customized her pizza and added spinach and mushrooms. When it came out we were surprised that the mushrooms and spinach were just plopped on their raw. We thought it was a mistake so we asked if the mushrooms and spinach could be sautéed and then baked on the pizza and the waitress agreed. She came back about 10 minutes later and it seems like they took the same two pieces of pizza and just put it in the oven for a few more minutes. It's really unappetizing to eat raw veggies on your pizza. I could understand this for some no name average pizza place but for the best in Colorado? I won't be back. I've been a customer since the week they opened. I love their food and attitude. At least I did until last week when I ordered a slice and a beer. The manager asked for my ID, which I don't carry because I live in the neighborhood and there have been muggings. In addition to being a neighbor and a regular customer, I'm 75 and shouldn't have to be carded. So Slice lost more than a customer; it lost a fan who had been recommending it to neighbors and friends. Common sense did not prevail. read more
