Slapfish was a great decision for dinner. I am here for work and a coworker and I wanted to grab dinner and my husband being a foodie texted me and said check out this place I found on Yelp! So of course, I had to try it! The restaurant is modern and trendy with greenery and neon lights with a great vibes. The menu is big with many options (that made it hard to choose!). I had the traditional lobster roll, hands down my favorite I've had (even over the ones I had in Boston!). It was perfectly toasted, warm, and tossed in lemon, butter and mayo! I chose a side of fries, which were also very tasty! My coworker ordered the grilled blackened group and agreed that it was some of the best grouper she's had! She ordered a side of Mac and cheese which was creamy and filling. The service was great - we were seated immediately and our waitress was attentive to us and our order! Went here for lunch during Indy Burger Week, and was not surprised. They had a Mermaid Burger that has this lobster & shrimp dressing that really set it apart. Definitely surf-and-turf in a burger. Today, I was spending the night in downtown Indianapolis. There are tons of good restaurants here, so I chose Slapfish based on the reviews. Upon entering, the place is nice and clean with a comfortable atmosphere. The menu had plenty of different options. I went with the lobster deviled eggs and a power bowl. They are known for their lobster rolls though. The deviled eggs were brought to my table first after a short wait. The lobster was so good with the bacon on top! They came in an order of 5. Absolutely delicious! The power bowl was very tasty as well. In the bowl cones salad, carrots, radishes, rice, Mahi Mahi, salmon, and shrimp. The fish and shrimp were seasoned very nicely. The bowl left me full but not stuffed. Overall the prices were reasonable, great service, and the food was delicious. Definitely worth checking out. I'll be back! read more

Once you figure out where to enter, you are golden. At the time of my visit what I thought was the entrance had a sign saying enter at the dine in... next door over had a for lease sign in it... door next to that didn't have any signage... taking a few steps back, I did see that last door had a Slapfish sign atop. Success... I had been here a few times before and always enjoyed not only the look of the place but also the food. It has been consistently good. However, I just experienced a stellar dish. Thought I'd try something new and ordered a shrimp roll, crispy shrimp please. For my side I chose the salad since I know that side salad is fabulous. It's relatively big and besides greens it has a beautiful array of carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes and pickled onion atop. And the honey lime dressing is so yummy. But back to my roll. The split roll itself had been fried in butter on both sides. So you got the sweet softness inside and the little crunchy buttery fried part on the outside. OMG, perfection. This was topped with pleanty of fairly big shrimp spilling over onto the plate. The breading on those was so light and crisp without being greasy. Now that is the way to go. The aioli was nice also, could have been a bit more, but I was in heaven with or without it. I'll be back much more frequently now that I have found THE dish for me. read more

I should have taken my food before I ate so I could post it but I was so hungry and the food looked fresh and delicious so I ate it all. I ordered clam chowder, topped with crispy bacon. The chowder is just the right consistency and creaminess. Then I had the steamed muscles. Very tender and delicious. The garlic toast was a little firm for my taste but not a big deal. Then I had the grilled mahi-mahi with salad. Sooooo fresh and crunchy. So by the time I thought about giving Slapfish 5 star, the food was all gone. We've been to Slapfish several times now and it never disappoints. Our first visit was during Devour soon after it first opened. The deal was really great and I would highly recommend going during that time. You get SO MUCH FOOD for a really great price. The clobster (crab & lobster) grilled cheese is probably our favorite thing and it seriously fills us up for the entire day. The lobster taquitos are really great too, as well as the dip. This was our first time eating in and our first time branching out from the grilled cheese. I ordered the lobster roll, my husband ordered the lobster mac and cheese,and we split some sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious as always. We were a bit surprised how small the mac and cheese portion was, but we were still satisfied. The fries were perfectly crisp and perfectly salted. My first Slapfish experience was when the first location opened in Broccoli Bill's. It's down the street from my dentist's office so I made it a ritual to eat there every teeth cleaning. Then Slapfish downtown opened right after I moved away from downtown. Oh, the luck! If I still lived downtown I would have a serious problem with wanting to eat here weekly. The lobster items are so, so good. The taquitos, the clobster grilled cheese, the grinder.... alll YUM. And the best of the best.... the lobster roll (market price... so recently was $26 WORTH IT). One problem (on my part) is that I no longer can eat gluten. But fear not my celiac and gluten sensitive friends... there are options! The Hawaiian bowl is GF and I believe the fish bowl is too. I don't think the poke bowl is GF because of the marinade butI could be wrong. They actually have a GF menu to make it easy. The restaurant is always clean and has a large TV to catch up on your sportz ballz. Very kid friendly (assuming your kid will eat seafood). Order at the counter and they bring the meal to you. Large booths and plenty of tables too. Only complaint is sometimes my hawaiian bowl isn't super flavorful. I sure do miss eating the grinder and clobster and the roll. So, so yum. read more

My first time eating at Slapfish and I read a lot of good reviews on the Epic Shrimp Burrito so I had to give it a try. The customer service was excellent and the servers were very friendly and nice. There is a nice dining area or you could get your meal and sit in the self-serve area. It was beautifully plated and delicious!! The portion is huge and it comes with a side (I ordered some warm, seasoned fries). The burrito was a bit on the sweet side for me, had a lot of spinach, and wished the shrimp was marinated a little to absorb the flavor. It needs a nice spicy sauce and you got a 10/10. Slapfish is a seafood restaurant located in downtown Indy on Mass. Ave. A year ago, we frequently ate here and it was always delicious. More recently, it's been underwhelming. They used to have an oyster board on the wall (displaying all the different oysters they had each day), but now they just have listed on the menu "east coast oyster" or "west coast oyster" with no names. The waitresses are usually unsure what they have on hand. The oysters themselves lack flavor, don't seem as fresh, and are just not as good as they used to be. As for the other menu items I've tried, I have no complaints. The lobster deviled eggs are a good app. The seared ahi tuna bowl is my favorite entree. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty casual. They usually can get you seated quickly. There's pay to park spots all along mass ave and the surrounding blocks. read more

I placed a carry out order for Devour Indy at the counter and had my whole order ready in about 10 minutes! I decided to get the lobster grinder with fries, lobster taquitos, and shrimp ceviche. The grinder was HUGE and was so filling! It's a decent amount of lobster that is sort of mashed with spices and comes with the best tartar sauce I've ever had. The lobster taquitos were also delicious and came with 2 pieces. I wish it was 3, but again, the grinder was very filling. The shrimp ceviche was my least favorite and wasn't really a ceviche for me. It's most similar to a shrimp salsa. It was okay, I didn't dislike it. All in all, $20 per person for an appetizer and entree is a steal and I enjoyed my meal! The last time in Indy this space was an Irish pub I really enjoyed. It's now two businesses by the same owner that are connected by a walk through. Work was being completed on the floor of Slapfish when I visited. Parking is by meter in front of the restaurant. Don't expect it to be easy during peak times. The meter solely uses credit card. The smaller menu is on the board and they focus on some local craft brews. The staff was helpful in suggestions which was perfect for first timers. The lobster and fish n chips was highlighted by the guy taking our order. We also added two local craft beers. My friend and I moved over to the other side business with construction noise. Our beers came out immediately and I really enjoyed my Porter. My companion also enjoyed hers too! Food was delivered within 15 minutes and my fish was hot and omg huge!!! Few hiccups with condiments and silverware was quickly resolved. We asked for waters. There was no follow up to check on meals or provide refills. Considering they were not busy that's a star deduction. The cod was perfectly fried up and I would say some of the best I've ever had. It's large enough to split. I was able to visit Slapfish during Devour Indy. I went during lunch, around 2:00 pm, and was one of the only customers in during that time. I noticed they are doing some renovations and added a bar top for guests to sit. While there, they were able to take care of me rather quickly. For my appetizer, I ordered the lobster taquitos and for my entree I ordered the power bowl! Yum!!! Everything was delicious and filling. It was my first time trying the power bowl and I must say, it is now my favorite on their menu. The bowl was packed with lettuce, brown rice, vegetables, a boiled egg, shrimp, salmon and mahi mahi. Expensive, not nearly as tasty as I expected and the piece of blackened grouper was very small. I was charged extra for the fries even though they came with the meal. I am the Sauce Queen! I absolutely love sauces and dips, however, I did not like any of the three sauces I was served. Very, very unusual for me. The crab and lobster dip appetizer was good but the chips were so salty I couldn't really eat them. Basically I paid way too much money for something I can make better at home.
