When I'm in Ohio this is a must. I bought four 4 ways and two coneys for dinner and everyone enjoyed it. The one thing I noticed this time is that this food is loaded with sodium. We got the order to go and it was about a 5 min wait for our order despite being the only one in line. I've been to this location on my last three visits as it's closest to our home away from home. Terrible service at this location, which is sad because it previously had stellar service. No order to waiting on tables. Some people helped immediately, some waiting and waiting. We ended leaving and going through their drive through. Food was horrible. Coney dogs had so much mustard that they were inedible. Literally, a 1/2 inch deep on the entire dog. Wrap was edible, but not tasty. Stay away from here unless you are on a diet. This is a two bite meal at best. read more

You know you're in southern Ohio when... your fast meal options include Skyline Chili! I have been to several locations, and this one is my favorite. It's decorated with local landmarks and sports memorabilia. When you first sit down, the wait staff brings a little bowl of oyster crackers - supposedly to go with your chili, but I can't wait. They are little salty morsels of goodness. Peruse the menu, of course, but here's what I always get: fries (with or without chili and cheese, depending upon how hungry I am), and a chili cheese dog. If you like mustard or other accoutrements, ask for it. The dog comes with only chili and cheese. For about $6 with tip, it's an inexpensive road trip meal that satisfies, is local, and, of course, is delicious. The place is filled with families, locals and travelers alike. I always feel comfortable eating here, whether with my own family or alone. And the chili is already made, so service is fast and you're back on the road relatively quickly. So,,, the story is, we were on the way down to Georgia from Detroit. I-75 all the way down and there was a point where our partially gassed up chariot needed more fuel. With all that happening, I told my passengers about spaghetti and chili buried in grated cheese. And this restaurant is the "Gold Standard" as far as Ohio-ans are concerned. So, we split a three way three way and a Coney. Ok, here goes. Three Way: Its still pretty interesting to me. It's pretty good but I'm just not super wowed about it. Skyline's is definitely much version is definitely better than GoldStar. Coney: Eh,, I'm from Detroit. I'm used to ours. Anyway, the service is really good. Our server was on point. This is one of the best things about Ohio...fresh Skyline Chili that isn't from the freezer or a can! We were delighted to find out that our hotel was literally next door to this location, meaning we could eat there every day that we were in town. The food was great! One day I had the 3-way baked potato with onions, cheese, chili and sour cream. I would never have tried it if I hadn't seen someone else order it, and I'm glad I did. Another day I got the burrito, and again it was a hit. My husband got the large 3-way chili the first night and it was not enough, so the second night he got two. I will admit the large isn't very large, especially if you don't load it with cheese on the top. He asked for his cheese on the side...lucky me, I got extra cheese! And it was a bowl of shredded cheese that looked to be about the amount of an 8 oz. bag of cheddar. It was a lot! The only reason this isn't a five star review was because of service. Both times we were there it was pretty much empty, with just us and one or two other tables. Our order was taken promptly and delivered just as fast, but we were not checked on during the meal and it took quite a while to get our check each night. It wasn't for lack of employees because there were plenty, but I think they were more focused on chit-chatting and working in the kitchen than keeping tabs of the dining room. I'm a huge sucker for Skyline! I reside in Michigan, so just having the opportunity to grab a few cheese coneys with extra mustard is special occasion for me! This location was friendly and consistent like you typically find at your local Skyline. The employees where kind and helpful and I appreciate that during our confusing and often hectic year of 2020. My typical skyline order consists of 2 coneys with everything and extra mustard with extra habanero cheese and a chilito with sour cream and extra habanero cheese. I love spicy food and the cheese really makes me happy I always order extra hot sauce too. Their hot sauce is significantly hotter than the typical hot sauce and I love it. If you leave near a skyline, don't take it for granted and if you see one and haven't tried these tasty little chili dogs before, get in there and try it! read more

I am from WI and in town for work. I stopped by for a late lunch, around 2:00, on 1/28/19. I was greater with a friendly hello. I got the regular sized chili 4 way and I added sour cream. The restaurant had some customers, very clean. My meal was served in a very timely manner, fairly priced, and accurate. I was asked if I had wanted oyster crackers and hot sauce. This is definitely a unique thing to this area and something everyone should experience once in their life. The place is a typical diner type atmosphere, so don't go in expecting different. That being said, the staff was fast and efficient. There is apparently a "thing" they do where they close off where you can sit later at night. I didn't really like that. Was at Walmart yesterday evening and decided to try Skyline for dinner. (Pretty sure this was my first time ever.) I didn't realize the chili contained spaghetti... but it's not like this isn't something I've never made myself at home! Got two coney dogs, too. Having grown up in Ohio so I love Skyline Chili. I always look for Skyline Chili when I am traveling through Ohio. And, without exception, this is the very best Skyline location. The management and employees here are amazing, awesome, excellent, outstanding......all of the above. If I am traveling anywhere near Troy I will go out of my way to visit this location. I have visited here early in the day, late at night, lunch, dinner, snack time and it is always excellent. Once I stopped here during a miserable ice storm and ended up staying for hours. I ended up feeling like I had been a guest in someone's home because the staff was so friendly and accommodating. OK, so it is just a chili place....but I promise that you will always feel better after eating here. I LOVE SKYLINE!!! I grew up in Ohio, but moved to Utah when I was 17. Every time I go home to visit my family, I make them take me to Skyline. Usually more than once. But This Skyline is the greatest. First, the Cincinnati-style Chili. More about that in a minute. Second, the manager, Mike. He is the best! He honestly makes you feel like family. He'll bend-over-backwards to help, bring you a "bib," give you a refill of your drink to-go, give you extra cheese or sauce, give you something new if you don't like your order, the list goes on. Best of all? I took my beau from Utah there with me this past Christmas and they give first-timers a little first-timer treat bag! Either you like Cincy style chili or you really don't. I happen to like it as does the Mister so we stopped on a recent visit to the area. In terms of product, it's consistent with what you'll get at their other locations. Meat based chili over spaghetti with a metric ton of shredded cheese on it - you can choose to add beans, onions or both. The spice level is "low" and I didn't see an option for a "hot" version but they do have hot sauce at the table for you to add. This particular store was "a-ok" - it looks newer, or newly remodeled. The staff is super nice too - they offered me a soda to go which is very nice. Cleanliness was "ok" - the amount of shredded cheese on the floor made me think of a Christmas tinsel explosion. read more

The food was good- I had 2 Coneys with everything. However- the place felt chaotic- 2 managers appeared to almost panic when they realized they were out of the cheesecake dessert. They went from chatting with each other to going to DEFCON 5 to pull "table toppers" and the wire signs from outside. It was just a bit bizarre to watch. Also, a manager fed a customer's dog through the drive-thru, and I don't believe he washed his hands afterward. The store was almost full with customers, and there was no obvious assigned staff to any given area. This made it feel chaotic. I would like to give the place five stars, but ultimately it is fast food. That being said, it is very tasty regional fast food and the service and cleanliness are better than lots of mid-priced restaurants. Skyline focuses on Cincinnati style chili and coneys. The chili is basically spaghetti with a meat-like sauce that clearly includes cinnamon and possibly clove. It is normally topped with a mound of finely shredded yellow cheese (real, I think). That is a "three way" -- these dishes are also called "ways". There is a four way (with chopped onion) and a five way (chopped onions and beans). A coney should not be confused with a hotdog from Coney Island -- it is a small hotdog with the same chili. While all of this may sound weird, it is actually pretty addictive. Bibs and unlimited oyster crackers (not sure why) come with your meal. The place is spotless and it is full service (plus drive through). The staff is unfailingly friendly and in a genuine In-N-Out Burger kind of way. As it turns out, if it is your first visit, you eat free (a coney or med. chili or both)! Crazy, right? They even gave my dad a special ceramic dish as a gift. It is probably in the top ten restaurants of any kind for staff enthusiasm and graciousness. read more

In fact, we even considered getting up and going elsewhere because no one made their way to our table for several minutes. However, things improved as time went on. Well first of all I have to preface this by saying most people either love skyline or hate skyline. I am a total LOVER! I grew up in Ohio so it was always a part of my childhood. However, this review is specifically for this Skyline "Branch." I am not sure I have ever visited a restaurant with employees who are so friendly. They are incredibly quick and helpful. The thing I like most though is that they are SO friendly. They will joke around with you and make you very comfortable for your dining experience. The manager at this branch is a role model to all food industry workers. And judging by his employees he must take great pride in his work and must be very picky about the servers and workers he hires. The food was pretty good here. I recently went a few days ago while waiting to visit the doctors. The service was from a blonde girl named Megan who was very friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good, wasn't super amazing but was a nice hot meal and was served very quickly. Long time Skyline fan (circa 1979) and the Troy restaurant is the class of the area. They make me believe I am back on Ludlow near UC. All you are missing are the older Greek guys serving up the meals of my early days at UC. A staple at family night.I make sure to get it wet as they must have complaints about the runnier chili from amateur Skyline fans. Impeccably managed and the staff are the best. It is an example of how a restaurant is MADE by the management and staff. This exact same location was on the verge of closing after opening and the new management turned it around completely. I'm going to be honest. Skyline Chili isn't the best place to eat in the world, but it's not the worst either. This particular Skyline had pretty bad service compared to others. Our waitress was nice but they had problems placing our order in their machine, so our food wasn't out for 20 extra minutes, when it usually only takes 5 minutes. I don't think this ever happens and it's not their fault so it's fine. Let's get the the actual food. Personally, It looks gross to me, but it tastes pretty good. If you are very hungry, be warned that the food portions are very small, so you might want to order more then one thing. Would I recommend this restaurant? I waited to post this review, giving the store a chance to address but I never heard from them. In May while visiting Troy we went to this store for lunch. There were only 3 customers in the place and 3 to 4 employees behind the counter talking to each other. This is no lie, EVERY table was dirty. Noodles all over the floor from a child obviously being there. Food all over floors and tables and we searched for a place to sit. Not one employee acknowledged us there and nobody was bussing or cleaning tables. It was disgusting. We finally turned and left. A store that disgusting can't possibly be following good hygiene practices. I reached out to the main office and they asked what store it was. I never heard a word back. Decided to come here after the place I originally wanted to go to was closed upon visit. Was really excited to try a 4 way chili. Got 2 small ones with one of them having extreme cheese. Was surprised at how spicy the cheese was, I loved it. Also ordered a garden salad on the side for some freshness. Was surprised at how fresh it was for a fast food restaurant specializing in chili. Really enjoyed the fact they had different sizes for your chili so I'm not forced to eat an incredibly large portion. It was quick and delicious. Growing up I had many times enjoyed chili over spaghetti. But until recently have not had skyline chili. On this day I decided to hit the drive thru around 9 pm. I was greeted by one of the most genuinely friendly drive thru workers I have ever encountered. After placing my order for a large 5-way chili the employee said, "Today is free coney day, you get a free coney with any order would you like one?". I took my new friend up on his offer and drove around. Even after a 30 minute drive home my food was still hot, tons of cheese, lots of onions and hot sauce. A real winner. read more
