We stopped in at Crazy Dog Grill in Chillicothe today and I'm so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the owner, Debbie, who couldn't have been more welcoming. She took the time to walk us through the menu and even shared how she cashed in her retirement to follow her dream of owning this place. You can tell her heart is in every bite. The menu covers all the good stuff--burgers, fried bologna, chicken tenders--but as the name suggests, the real stars are the loaded hot dogs. They start with a big locally sourced 6-to-1 all-beef dog and then pile on some wild toppings. I went with the Mactastic Dog--two strips of grilled bacon, creamy housemade mac & cheese, and a drizzle of sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, all on a perfectly steamed bun. Absolute perfection. I also couldn't resist trying the Bologna Coney, which was a thick grilled slice of bologna (cut in half) topped with Debbie's "almost famous" homemade coney sauce, a hit of stadium mustard, diced onions, and a generous handful of shredded cheese. I made it a combo with fries and a drink, and it did not disappoint. My wife ordered the Slaw Dog and loved every bite. As a former chef, I've got a soft spot for simple food done right--and that's exactly what Crazy Dog Grill delivers. The place itself has a fun, casual vibe with tables on two levels and some great classic rock playing in the background. If you're anywhere near Chillicothe, run, don't walk to Crazy Dog Grill. Went to Crazy Dogs for lunch. Wow, the choices are plenty. We met the owners and they some super nice people. They make you feel welcome and want to come back. I ordered the Jr. Slaw dog which is a regular size hotdog with brown mustard and a heaping amount of slaw. My side was the in house made chips. They were fresh and crisp. The ambiance was a very clean at home experience. Nothing fancy but clean and well cared for. I highly recommend this hidden gem. read more

My wife and I stopped here while riding our motorcycle and we was pleasantly surprised! This is a hidden gem in my opinion. It's located on north bridge street almost out of town. My wife decided on the southern pork dog and she loved it. It had the right amount of pulled pork bbq sauce coleslaw. I decided on the wild and wonderful all beef hot dog onions yellow mustard homemade coney sauce and coleslaw. And as with my wife's it had the right amount of coney sauce slaw and onions and mustard! The fries were hot and fresh! Service is friendly and fast but they wasn't super busy. Walk up counter for service which is very simple the menu is written on the wall. Place looked run down and no cars in lot. We thought it was closed. But no, at 2p just not busy. At counter greeted pleasantly. Gal showed us board with top 10 hot dog options. There were lots more available. We ordered 2 Chillicothe dogs. Got combo which included fries and drink. The bill came to $28.90! Food was only okay. Server asked if we wanted forks and knives. We said yes. She never returned. So waved down another server and asked. Also asked if we could get a few more onions as not many were on the dog. She said she'd ask. She came back with one fork and knife and a very small container of chopped onions. Really for almost $29 for lunch for 2 you'd expect them not to be so stingy. This place is the real deal. I was very impressed with the size of the hotdog and how meaty it was. A serious value and if I lived near by, I'd be a frequent customer (I'm from Va and traveling to IN). My hubby and I got the WV dog (Wild and Wonderful) and it's an on-point-legit WV dog. We found this place by accident. We were actually on our way to heavenly hot dogs in West Virginia. These were better than those hotdogs . Small place, kind of unassuming. Very clean. You order at the counter where the young lady was very helpful explaining the different types of dogs that you could get. Service was quick. The food was excellent. Finally made it here. Locals (like some of my family) love it. Of course, when I'm in town I'm usually eating at one of their houses, so it's always hard to get to restaurants in Chilly. The menu is extensive and interesting. It was hard to choose, but I went with a Cowboy dog and a Buckeye dog, and cheese curds. That was too much (and I went in hungry.) I'd suggest two dogs if you're hungry, or one and a side. The curds were great- good curds, perfectly cooked. Served with your choice of about 20 sauces. I went with sriracha, which was only slightly spicy. First dog was the Buckeye, a brat with cheese, pickled onions, bacon, and mustard. Good brat, perfectly cooked, on a good bun, and the toppings worked together well. All in all, great. Next the Cowboy. A good beef brat, again perfectly cooked and on a good bun. And again bacon (how did I pick two bacon ones? Hm.) Good bacon, meaty with just a bit of fat, a large slice cooked well. The toppings, BBQ sauce and baked beans, worked well together but made it messy to eat (as I expected.) I would go back again. I loved what I got, and want to try many other things. Service was friendly and reasonably fast (it was 6pm on a Saturday, so I expected them to be busy.) Prices are good. Worth a detour. read more

What a great discovery. I had no idea there was anything like this in the area. I almost didn't stop by this little hole-in-the-wall place today, but I'm so glad that I did. The outside has that old, dilapidated look, then you walk in and everything is very clean and well-maintained. For those of you who know of Tony Packo's in Toledo, you may like the food here even more. There are a LOT more interesting choices and variety here than what Tony Packo's offers. Tried this place based on other Yelp reviews. It didn't disappoint. I had the Reuben dog & cheese curds. While the curds were tasty, the dog clearly was the star of the meal. It was an all beef wiener with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese & thousand island dressing. It comes with a pickle on it, but I chose to not eat it. So, so good!
