Atop the Crowne Plaza hotel; nice views. The bartender was cool. I ordered the appetizer chicken wings. You know, chicken wings, celery, carrots, blue cheese or ranch dressing. I ordered plain wings because I didn't want sauce. What came out of the kitchen were plain fried wings, a sad pile of something resembling a salad, a bunch of french fries, and a cup of salsa. I don't think the chef understands the items described on the menu. I asked about the celery and carrots which arrived eventually. The celery was ok. The carrots were those little nubs that I guess are intended for children's lunch bags? Hard pass. And again, not interested in a weird looking salad or french fries. The wings were crispy and hot, so I suppose they won't cause intestinal distress. But this restaurant has to take a look at itself and ask, "What are we doing here?" Being a bit generous with the rating because I know service can vary. I was hopeful for this place not to be glorified hotel food as I stopped in for Chimichurri Steak and Eggs during breakfast. The atmosphere is nice as it is a 360 restaurant/bar view at the top of the hotel. However, the food and service were a letdown, both very bland. The steak came out very flat and broken with absolutely no seasoning, did not even have the chimichurri and hollandaise that is the highlight of the meal. The grilled potatoes were the same, no seasoning, only grease. Toast was cold and white toast by default (was not offered a choice). Not worth $27 in the slightest, $35 as all beverages are charged, including coffee! I recommend the staff express the same attention and pride in their work during breakfast as one would expect at peek hours. Perhaps dinner is different but I do not recommend breakfast! read more

Back at Sky first time in 2 years. The food here is decent. Plus if you're a hotel guest there was a card in the room that you could bring upstairs & get a free beer/wine with your meal. Gorgeous view of Manhattan from this top floor surrounded by windows. When they first open at 5pm it's a ghost town up there, but eventually staff emerges from the back. I had to return at 5:20pm to actually see staff after arriving at 5:05 & walking the entire restaurant & seeing NO ONE! lol. My mushroom Swiss burger was very good & fries nice & crispy on outside & soft on inside. They offered me a free shot or free beer too, but I couldn't take them up on the offer due to heading to a concert. read more

I came here to listen to a band. The food was absolutely awful the chicken parmigiana came out with grilled chicken and watery sauce. The caesar salad had raw chicken on it. The mushroom and Swiss burger had American cheese on it. I will not be returning ever!!!!! read more

The food is terrible. Chicken is rubbery and it didn't look fresh. They put American cheese and Swiss cheese on a Swiss burger. The view is nice and the staff is clearly trying, however, they need to update the menu. Also maybe buy their food from a better distributor. The chicken was processed. Not chicken breast. read more

Hmmmm... I really don't know what to say about Sky. It's a bit pricy, lonely, and rather a sad place. The location is amazing, on the 12th floor of the Crowne Plaza in Saddle Brook NJ. There were beautiful views of the sunset and surrounding areas. The hotel touts that the bar has 2 televisions, (really nothing to brag about) but neither was on. The food is spectacular, I had two meals here. The salmon and the shrimp pasta. Both were well prepared, and beautifully presented. The service is marginal at best. Nobody is in the bar service area most of the time. I couldn't give a low rating due to the location and quality. But I couldn't give 5 stars either, due to the service and the depressing lack of other diners. read more

Oh boy. Normally, I will try to find every positive I can about a location before I review it, however, I've come up quite short. An awesome jazz band was scheduled to play, so my partner called ahead to make reservations. It was extremely difficult to get connected to Sky itself, but ultimately we ended up with a reserved table for four near the band. Upon our arrival on a Friday night, we entered the elevator of the hotel and let ourselves out right into Sky. It was pretty dead, which might explain why there was no host to help us. We killed time chatting with the band and eventually, a worker came up to us and seated us at our reserved table. The view is amazing and could definitely have the potential to be an amazing space, but it falls way too short. I sat in a chair that was actually broken aka a hazard, I had to move the chair and swap it with another because no staff could be found. Not a huge issue, but it definitely wasn't swaying my opinion of the place. We received menus and noticed it was so loaded with spelling errors and we subsequently made a game of who could tally up the most mistakes first. The food menu was minimal and unappealing, so we decided to stick with (overpriced) drinks. My partner asked for a bottle and he was told that they had no bottles. Fast forward about 45 minutes, we see patrons at the bar with bottles and cans. We weren't sure why they were able to order them, but we didn't dwell on it. We all agreed that the space has a ton of potential, but definitely isn't being invested in, which is a shame. The only sky you need to be concerned about is the one you're looking up to when wondering why you chose to visit this place. read more

The Sky Restaurant and Lounge is a hidden gem! The views were spectacular - panoramic sunsets, Manhattan in the opposite direction, and even the morning commuters! The service was excellent. While a somewhat slim menu, everything we had - from pasta to hamburger to breakfast offerings, were not only delicious, but beautifully presented. The view is the only positive aspect of this restaurant. No direction or greeting upon entering. Service was extremely slow. There was an obvious language barrier with the waitress but it did not excuse the 45 minute wait for our entree when the restaurant was dead. Our food was luke-warm. She did not understand medium rare, she said either rare or medium. Steak came out raw in the middle. Took way too long to get our check and we ended up having to ask someone else. The view is literally the only thing going for them... if they had killer food I bet for sure they would be packed on a nightly basis. I've eaten here 4 times this week.... yes 4. Bleh. Twice for breakfast only because my colleague wanted to meet up there before we started work in the mornings. One night we decided to give it a try. And the last night I literally had to order food here (room service) because we were snowed in and no one was open for delivery in the area. Really the only decent thing I've eaten here was the bacon in the morning. The side salad was good. (I would hope so...) and the shrimp cocktail was tasty..but it was $16 for 5 shrimp??!! Wtf. I feel like they have to charge so much in order to stay open because every time I ate here it was nearly empty in the bar and dining area. The flat iron steak was ehhh not good. Very bland in taste and the mashed potatoes were FOR SURE instant potatoes.... they were so tasteless and gross. And they were topped white rice?? Hmm. Interesting. The pasta was not good either. This place could be so much better then what it is. To start off the bar is on the opposite side of the view of NYC, that part mostly taken up by the kitchen. There are some tables over there but they close that section when it's slow. Pretty bad building plan. The menu is pretty small. Only a handful of entrees to choose from. I got the chicken tortellini and my fiance got the shrimp scampi pasta. They were actually pretty good! Unfortunately the server was horrible. The limited times she stopped by to check on us she stood ten feet away, awkward! The manager ended up taking care of us more then her. When we finally got our check we noticed our single titos and tonic were $11 a piece!! Pretty ridiculous for this area!! This restaurant is convenient if you are staying in the hotel but otherwise there are a lot better options near by. read more

Okay ... Lunch here was lackluster... Let's try breakfast. Tried the buffet. It's the basics; nothing unique, etc. - decent enough. The service is much better than yesterday but I still wonder why no one is at the hostess stand when a guest gets off the elevator. Why must I seek out a server or host? Once the breakfast crowd filtered in, the service became better and more attentive. The young man did a nice job, the manager became active, but the two young ladies disappeared. I guess I would advise them to stop "coffee clutching" in their own little group. Only hot sauce available, when asked, was Tabasco. read more

The one and only good thing about this place is the view! The menu is small and bland. Everything is over priced. $10 for a single drink with Tito's vodka is insane. Just like the rest of the hotel staff, the waitress was terrible. From 10 feet away she would ask if everything was alright. Visited the sky lounge with some of my friends on a Saturday night, had never been there in years, pleasant surprise, shame place was empty because it is set up so nice. we sat by the window in very comfy chairs and enjoyed the night. decided to go back to the restaurant on my birthday with my family. you sit at nice tables and all the chairs are armed cushioned chairs. was never so comfortable in a restaurant. there were 9 of us, we all had appetizers, steak dinners which were all cooked to perfection and delicious and came with a really nice and quite large salad, we all had drinks, probably 3 each. the bill was $439.00, not bad and no complaints from anyone. all in all this is a really nice place to go enjoy a good dinner and be relaxed and have a great view too. I am from Elmwood Park and love good places close to home. Give it a shot, have the flat iron steak! read more

Waiting a dinner for almost two hours!!! I was so tired. I waited from extremely hungry to not hungry. I doubt there is only one cook in the kitchen. I thought it should be more convenient to eat at the hotel, but I now definitely believe that we would come back in one hour if we go outside to find a restaurant. read more
