I went to this restaurant on Thursday night. We ordered salad bar. The server brought us the cheese bread, too thin, so it just tasted like regular toast, not cheesy and soft. Then we got clam chowder, it was so thick and salty. So we told the server to get a new pot since this pot is very low. Then the fresh one is the same, thick (hang on the serving ladle, and salty again. The server showed up the beginning, and one more time to give our plates. Other time we have to look for her. We were there few months ago, food was better and server was very nice, but tonight the soup was not good and service was not that great. read more

Why is this such a bad example of the Sizzler Restaurants? Something is wrong here. We often go to the Sizzler on Orangethorpe in Buena Park. That restaurant has much better Yelp reviews and we always leave happy. Unfortunately last night we found ourselves near this Sizzler and went for dinner. Ordered the salad bar for both of us. This salad bar does not look good. The lettuce looked old and brownish. The macaroni salad and imitation crab salad looked strange too. The soups looked like they had been sitting for a long time. The taco meat and pasta sauce had pools of grease sitting on top. The chicken wings were dry from sitting on display for so long. Nothing was fresh. Nothing tasted good. With such a good Sizzler example just a few miles away, it doesn't make sense to come here. Just go to the good one on Orangethorpe. This will be our last visit to this restaurant. read more

I was really wanting a good steak and baked potato. I went just before noon and plunked down my money for my meal. About 45 mins later, I was noticing people who came in after me were finishing their meals and starting to leave. I flagged the waitress down (she had not even stopped by my table to see if I needed anything and I wasn't quite sure she was my waitress) She went to the grill and came back to my table to ask me how did I want my steak cooked?!?! I had received a gift card/voucher from Sizzler corporate. This location refused to accept it, the manager/franchisee kept on looking at this card as if it was fake. I explained to him that corporate mailed it to me due to a Fb promotion. Yet he still kept flipping the card back and forth looking at it not knowing what to do and finally he said he can't accept it because the card can only be issued by the President of Sizzler...suuure guy. Decided to give this place a try - our last visit was about a years ago. We ordered the salad bar. Due to Covid the server has to bring you what you want. What I didn't know was that you can't get seconds on anything! Why, it's a buffet!!? The broccoli soup tasted like canned old soup - not tasty. The only thing I kind of liked was the cheese toast. Basically, if you want salad and soup don't bother coming here - this place needs an overhaul. Go to Olive Garden instead for quality food. Don't think we'll be coming back. Despite what others say, i liked my visit here! Majority of the food was fresh, restaurant was clean, staff were very friendly. My waitress never skipped a beat, it was busy but my cup never went empty and always had what we needed. The Salad bar seems to be different at every sizzler, i dont know if i liked the selections for the cold portion but still good, the hot food was yummy but the onion rings and mozzarella sticks you could clearly tell they had been sitting there for awhile and the desert bar was a little messy. I really wanted to really like this sizzler because it is in my neighborhood. I think the review this location gets is just about right unfortunately... We visited on Sunday evening and place was about 40% filled. We ordered one ribeye dinner and one NY steak with two salad bars. When the steaks first came out, we thought the kitchen mixed up the order because ny steak looked like ribeye and ribeye looked more like... a cheap skirt steak. When we actually tried it, ny steak actually still tasted like closer to ribeye and the ribeye, well... tasted more like much cheaper steak of whatever kind... Confused, I requested for the server to make sure they had our steaks right and server went back and forth a couple of times to confirm it. She obviously noticed that we were dissatisfied with the meat so she offered to remake it and we asked to do so because first one was just tough, thin and chewy like no other medium rare ribeye I've ever had. When it came back out, it was definitely better than the first one but was still pretty disappointing as it was still thin, salty and low quality meat. Obviously didn't expect a usda prime or even a choice meat quality going into sizzler but still was below expectation. Salad bar was ok but lacked the choices that I had remembered like chicken wings and mac and cheese which I thought would be given. Sad to say, best part was clam chowder soup and the diet Pepsi really hit the spot. Our asian lady server was super nice and attentive and this is my neighborhood sizzler so I believe I am being very generous by giving it a three star rating and maybe willing to pay another visit thinking it may have been a bad night but I am not sure... So this is an updated review based on what happened this evening. We frequent this Sizzler, often (like embarrassing often) for a long time. I have never had an issue until tonight and think it was one of the most shady things I have ever experienced as a customer there. EVERYTIME I order food (usually to go) I add a lobster tail onto my boyfriends meal for me. I'm typically charged an add on amount of 5.99 or 6.99. However, tonight I was charged 15.38, basically I was charged an entire meal to and only given a lobster without so much as being asked if I just wanted a meal since I was going to be charged for a meal anyway. When I questioned this, the manager's responded, "I have to pay $10.99 for it!" I proceeded to him that I have NEVER paid $15.00 to add the lobster tail, so why is he changing this now-- mind you he has done my orders before and NEVER charged this much nor the other manager. He just kept repeating, "it's costs me $10.99" so what didn't he charge me $10.99, why did he charge my an entire meal and only give me the tiny little lobster tail I could have picked up at sprouts for $6.99. Then I love how he just walked away to go take an order. The waitress, who knows us well was so apologetic knowing that we frequent that place and offered to give me the rest of the meal- which was kind of her but I didn't want to waste any food and that really wasn't the point. So rude, disrespectful and shady---Very sad to say we will not go back there ever again due how I was treated and taken advantage of. Hope charging me that 15.38 for that lobster tail was worth losing a long time consistent customer-- cause in the long run you lost you big time! read more

This location is okay. Prices are high for a little salad bar. Cost for a baked potatoes. Needs more variety. Our favorite sizzler is Temecula as they have a huge salad bar, with free potato and both rolls and cheese bread. But is too far for us to go regularly. Sure if they can expand few more items on salad bar and hot items plus more dessert options and toppings, we would come more often. read more

This place is a bummer. First you have to give your tip upfront at the beginning of the meal, which is very unfair to the wait staff (could be exceptional service warranting a high tip or could over tip for poor service. Second, the buffet, which is really very good, should simply come with the meal. Charge a higher price and have the buffet come with the meals. Numerous people ask "can we share a meal and buffet." But they won't let you. Simply charge more for the entrees and have the buffet be the cheapest entree. Now everyone shares. Third, children's meal not coming with a drink? Who does this? Fourth, bathrooms need to be cleaned. Water puddles on the floor are unacceptable (like what is in that puddle?) This place could turn around real quick with better management. read more

Dear Sizzler, I think I'll always love you. I disliked when you had to close the Placentia/Fullerton one down, since it was ultra-convenient for me. Now, I trek to Brea, when I can, just to satisfy my addiction. I can never speak highly enough of the Malibu Chicken. It rocks on so many levels. The breaded chicken, the melted cheese, the meat on top, and that sauce. Pairing it with a loaded baked potato and the cheesy bread, and I'm enslaved to you forever! The store was clean, staff friendly, and food tasty and hot. The mints at the end, are always a welcome touch. While I don't always tip (sometimes it's just a salad bar run, and a new plate may not warrant $1.00), I threw two bucks down for the experience and my ability to see the waitress clearing tables and delivering food at rapid speed. The bathrooms were also kept up, and I love the menu board selections. It has your kids meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, chicken, steak, seafood, and sides. Worst customer service I've ever encountered. I came here with my parents at my dads request. My dad ordered a plate with a combination of the salad bar, I ordered a sandwich with a side and my Mom declined to order she said she wasn't hungry. We got our food and my mom eventually was eating from dads salad. We were interrupted by who I will assume was the manager, saying hat the salad bar we ordered was not for sharing, to understand and "help him out". Ok, mom was now feeling uncomfortable feeling like we're being watched. 10 minutes later a waiter comes to our table, leaves a clean plate and runs off without saying a word. I thought it was strange, maybe he mistook our table for someone else's?? Well, 5 minutes later we get a bill for a salad bar for $10. If they were watching us, they very well noticed my parents only served themselves from the salad bar once. I ended up paying an extra $10 for a salad bar we did not consume. Needless to say we will not be returning to this business. EVER. I would have appreciated more if the manager would have included in his little speech that he will be charging us for an extra plate to our faces instead of sending 2 different servers and surprising us. read more

Worst Father's Day dinner! After driving from Davis Cal, (7-1/2 hrs), I thought let's go to Sizzler for my Father's Day dinner. I was looking forward to steak and shrimp, always great, one of my favorite places to go. Unfortunately I was treated to a hockey puck, everything else was great, but the steak was thin, just over a 1/4", suppose to be medium, but was over cooked on half. Wow! What a wonderful experience from the moment you enter the parking lot. This sizzler location is on a landmark, free standing building with plenty of parking spaces, the ambiance makes you feel so welcome and comfortable, service is very comparable to a top star hotel. Staff are so friendly and you can tell they have a passion for taking care of their guests. The quality of food and salad bar are amazing! Every bite makes you say wow. Highly recommended. Saw Parts Unknown with David Choe taking Anthony Bourdain to Sizzler. He made a taco out of spaghetti meatballs and cheese. I had to go try it. I do not get the bad reviews for this location as it was super clean and the employees very friendly. They kept our group stocked with plates, water and kept our table clean. The meatball taco was pretty awesome actually as was their cheese toast. All the other items were pretty stock salad bar affair. I never liked Sizzler and never ate there until I met my husband. His dad always took him to Sizzlers when he was a child. Now I started eating there too and its still not my ideal restaurant but this location is the absolute WORST branch ever. I moved to Fullerton about 7 years and have been coming to this Sizzler for 7 years. The owner whom I believe is a middle eastern or Indian man. Since some years ago, I've seen him working the cash register and we always have trouble using our coupons and at some point fight him on the coupon deal. We always loose the argument but I still eat here... until today. Today is the last day I will ever eat here. We bought our 2 friends to eat here and the owner refuse to let our friend take the left-over food to go. They offer specials free salad bar with purchase of a meal. That's a great deal and since the salad bar was so good, the main dish was not finished. Any given person would want to take the left over home but the owner gave this nasty speech about losing money to pay employees and over head if other customers take their food home and that he will have to close his business in a month if we all take our food home. What BS. He pointed out the sign that says the food you PAID for is DINE IN ONLY. We were embarrassed, our friends were embarrassed. That's it! That's the end of this place. I'm sure this can't be good for the rest of the Sizzler owners. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would! I go here for lunch today and ordered the shrimp skewers and the salad bar... fifteen minutes later, the server comes out with a plate of raw shrimp claiming they were cooked! I asked her to take them back and have them cooked. Two minutes later she comes out with the same raw shrimp and says the cook indicated they were a "different type of shrimp" and that they were fully cooked. I told her they were RAW and asked for a refund. She huffed and puffed and went to the manager, who was equally unprofessional and rude, and informed him I demanded a refund. She returns to me and literally throws $6.57 at me when I paid $17.31 for my meal: $12.99 for the skewers, $4.99 for the salad bar and taxes. I went to the manager who raised his voice at me and said because I ordered the salad bar, I was not entitled to a full refund. WTF!!! I argued with him and he, in front of other customers, yells at me and says he would not give me a full refund! What horrible customer service AND manners!! read more

Well I wrote a review months ago and discovered that either manager Ray or Sohel do indeed read the yelp comments! I had an issue between both managers over a comped item. Sohel said one thing and Ray said another. As a result I got reamed royal over what I thought was going to be a comped meal - courtesy of Ray. I'd had an absolutely horrible fried shrimp meal and sought to get the situation fixed. Sohel said one thing and Ray said another. Oh yeah, and did I say that I'd been going to this location since 1987? I called and talked to Sohel and he was angry over the fact that I went to Yelp instead of calling again to work it out with him. It was a dead deal by then! Haven't been to a Sizzler in over 20 years, but I was quite delighted with this trip. I got the steak trio with steak, shrimp, and the Malibu chicken. Steak was good, shrimp was okay, chicken was good. The salad bar though - let me just say I was rather impressed. Good selection of stuff. My only complaint was the jello was hard. First off. When you walk into a Sizzler, you're not walking into a restaurant, you're walking into a 1990's time machine. Seriously, these places have NEVER changed - and I LOVE it for that! Do yourself a favor, look up 'Sizzler Promotional Commercial' on YouTube and you will not see a difference in the restaurant AT ALL. The food is just as bad, the salad bar is just as unfresh, and the carpet is just as tacky. If there is ever a heaven on earth when it comes to guilty pleasures, I have found it. Microwaved jacket potato oozing thirteen litres of margarine (butter would be too much to hope for). Vegetables overcooked, rubbery and tasteless. I'm fairly certain the BBQ 'sandwich' consisted of BBQ sauce and cardboard cut to shape. Service was equally poor and when asked whether everything was alright and my husband explained the litany of complaints, the waitress responded with an 'Oh...Sorry' before cleaning the plates. He'd never been to a Sizzler before being a newly imported Englishman, but suddenly it made sense that they take your money up front. Never, never, never again. read more

Sizzlers needs help I used to love these guys but over the years the quality of food has seriously declined... sadly.

I prefer Sizzler over other salad restaurants, mainly because they offer hot dishes. This location has always had a well stocked salad bar, and decent selection of soups. One cool thing about a build it yourself meal is the chance to experiment with flavors. A personal favorite is to take the broccoli cheese soup and add jalapeno peppers for a nice kick to the cheese. May not be super healthy, but it is tasty. The servers have always been attentive and quick with drink refills. Don't cheap out by not tipping them. They are working for a living and even though you may do the physical work of building the perfect salad, they assist in your dinning enjoyment. And they bring clean clean plates so you can keep building that perfect salad. The food from the kitchen is served hot and I like the Malibu Chicken dish w/o the ham. Overall a good meal for a reasonable price. read more

I realize that what I don't know about Sizzler could kill me, or at least give me indigestion, but I have to ask: are all locations as bad as this? Sizzler is this weird combination of steakhouse and fast food joint that has stopped working long ago. You walk in, stand in line, and order your food from one person, who writes down your order an a ticket and hands that ticket to the cashier. The cashier takes your money, and then you find your seat. Eventually, someone comes by and gives you your order. Part of my complaint about Sizzler is biased towards other salad bar experiences that I've had. Namely, you go to the bar, pick up your plate, and serve yourself. But with the Sizzler model, you have to wait for the server to bring you your plates. This has the unfortunate unintended consequence of making you feel like the restaurant just doesn't trust you -- a feeling that's exacerbated by the fact that this place was so understaffed, and so disorganized, the mere act of supplying our table with our salad bar plates and drinks was painfully frustrating. But that is forgiveable. It's been the way Sizzler has worked for ages, and the servers can't be blamed if they're not staffed properly. What is unforgiveable is the quality. The salad bar had a poor selection of food, which would have been forgiveable if the quality of the food hadn't made Hometown Buffet look appetizing by comparison. I was able to piece together a pile of lettuce with scant toppings. I returned for some warm entrees and found bland, tasteless, and greasy selections. After a few tries, I just gave up. I realize that Sizzler has been trying to survive by marketing to the low price seekers, but if they're going to let the salad bar go like this, they should just give up on it and concentrate on serving their steak and Malibu chicken. read more

There's a very uneventful reason for spending time at this restaurant but it was more based around spending time together rather than the food. It was to celebrate the life of a high school Buddys passing. The banquet room seated 60 plus full size adults with room to spare. There's a small tv in the south corner which played an NCAA basketball game. Too small and muted to give another glance. The servers were a little slow and difficult to understand but nonethelessless we were able to get our orders in. One of the servers actually forgot to offer us an entree so a few of us in our corner were a little upset about the unmentioned shrimp course. Very upsetting, I know. The salad bar was very accomodating, as in they covered pretty much every type of fried food. Chicken, onion wings, fries, zuchini, balls of corn? Hushpuppies. Plenty of salad toppings, 3 types of soups and a taco bar. The main course was the sirloin and a lemon chicken. I wanted my steak medium per I don't have a longing for flavored cardboard. It was served up as flavored cardboard. The chicken, from what I saw looked paper thin and dry as chalk. The potato was a golden russet I believe. The very kind used to make fresh fries at other famous California burger staples. The Chocolate vanilla Icecream machine served up really cold and too sweet for my liking frozen goodness but had the option of 6 or so toppings.
