Let's go back to basics! Siphon style or not. This place provides a great catch up, co-working or dating space. When they're busy, orders can take slightly longer. But still friendly to me! It serves various coffee styles, hot or cold, , savory and sweet items. Their wifi is great! I really enjoy the high seating facing the large window. It's in the direction that provide great natural light and somehow, that's my source of joy and motivation. Great for dreaming and people watching too! New community table I see? Wooden one, could easily fit 8. I keep forgetting they also have seating outside. Today's drink choice was their rose cardamom, very smooth. They carry Amaya coffee too! One low is the parking. A little tight at times. Overall, still enjoying the quiet yet busy and studious ambiance of this place. read more

Remote working review! Came here on a Friday afternoon to cowork with a friend. It is busy with people that had the same idea but it is relatively quiet, no music today! There is ample seating but not many outlets accesible for those not sitting by the walls. I ordered a Jamaica iced tea, it's delicious, refreshing and less than $5 after a tip, nice! M Service was quick, kind, conversational. I'd come back to try the cold brew or other offerings on tap!! read more

One word: raisins. We were so excited to see empanadas on the menu, and instantly disappointed at the first bite when we tasted the raisins in it. $6 for that size felt too high. Yuck! Just why?? The chimichurri was flavorless and had too much oil. I did like barista choice speciality latte...they ask three questions: what type of milk? Iced or hot? Mid-sweet or sweet? I was satisfied with the lavender drink flavor. The outdoor and indoor spaces are very cute for co-working. read more

With all the coffee options Houston has to offer, Siphon Coffee is truly a standout. Nestled in the Montrose area, it boasts a great selection of food options and exceptional coffee. The outdoor seating is a big plus--spacious and inviting--and the ample parking in the strip center adds to the convenience. A must-visit for coffee lovers! read more

It's been awhile since I've gone back to Siphon Coffee. I'm a latte type of gal, so I never really crave any coffee without milk. I recently came back just to grab a quick coffee and breakfast, and I'm glad I did! It's gotten a lot busier, so it's harder to find seating around prime times. A lot more people come here to do work or study so it's quieter than I last remembered. I would recommend coming during off hours to find better seating. There are outdoor seating as well. FOOD/DRINK: Beef empanada ($6) - 5/5 - flaky and amazing goodness. Comes with chimichurri sauce. El grande taco ($4) - 5/5 - great value for the price and portion size. It already comes with eggs and cheese. I added potatoes and beans (60 cents for each extra topping). Try it with the creamy habanero sauce, and you'll never turn back! Cereal milk latte / snickerdoodle latte / gingerbread latte ($5.95) - 4/5 - fun drinks to try but nothing special or memorable. PROS: -Food and drinks are always great -Chill atmosphere CONS: -Difficult to find seating, shop is small -They blast the AC to an ungodly temperature so your hot drinks cool too fast and you're left shivering read more

Nice coffee shop with plenty of savory and sweet food to choose from as well as impeccable service. I initially wanted to try their burger but the kitchen was closed when we came around 4pm so beware of that. However, the beef empanada really made up for that in every way possible. Thin crust, thick beef filling, bursting with flavor. The chimichurri dipping sauce is also very delicious, and I ended up eating it by itself after finishing the empanadas. As for coffee, we got the Siphon Coffee for 2. It did take a bit longer than the other coffees, but the process was pretty cool to see. The baristas actually stopped midway to make sure that I was able to take pictures which was so sweet of them. The coffee itself was light and easy to drink, but by no means lacking. Halfway through drinking the caffeine kicked in and I was energized for the rest of the day. read more

A chill spot to grab coffee and get some work done. Very spacious interiors with plenty of tables and seats. They have their own private parking lot but it does get fill up quickly during busy hours. You can also do street parking. They have a lot of unique coffee options as well some of the regular. There's also a variety of baked goods as well as breakfast items to choose from. I ordered the avocado toast and much to my surprise was better than expected. Also had the blueberry white mocha and iced chai latte. Both were also delish. Services were friendly and quick. Overall, a nice coffee shop in the area to hang with friends or study/work. read more

Great place with reliable coffee and good service They have an outside area with booths that are super cute and great for outdoor studying on the rare nice day in Houston. Honey bee coffee 5/5 Cinnamon toast coffee 4/5 - the cinnamon can sink to the bottom so you need to mix it really well Decently price, size, and quality which is a rarity these days! The only thing is parking can be a challenge and hard to find a spot to sit so get here early for good spots. read more

Been to Siphon a few times but first time trying their coffee and loved it. The interior has good lighting and is decorated nicely. It is usually packed and may be hard to grab a seat, especially on the weekends. The parking lot has limited parking but you can always park on the street. I ordered an iced vanilla latte which was great and a white chocolate blueberry scone which had a balance of tangy and sweet and was an awesome pairing with the coffee. They also have other foods including empanadas, quiches, and a variety of pastries that all look delicious. Always on my list of study spots with great coffee and food! read more

This coffee place was so cute!!! Super cozy but also spacious cafe!! There were a lot of people inside studying and working and also a good amount of outdoor seating. I got an iced latte with oatmilk. Very refreshing and exactly what I needed for a mid-afternoon pick me up! The customer service was great! The coffee came out very quickly considering how many people were inside and ordering. I would definitely come back and bring friends who like coffee! read more

Good coffee. Terrible service. The guy at the counter had the worst attitude--passive aggressive and yelling across the shop. He messed up my order and blamed me. Plenty of places in Houston serve great coffee without the ego. read more

I love this place! Their coffee is probably the best in Houston. Their breakfast tacos (I have had them many times) are AMAZING. Probably the best I've ever had. The tortillas are homemade, the salsa is delicious, and the eggs are always cooked perfectly! The ambience in there is amazing as well. It is decorated so well inside, and I love the outdoor seating as well. The only problem can be finding a seat! It is also a little louder in there, so sometimes it can be hard to study, but we do. The service is great as well! The manager is so fun and always gives out free lattes, which we love! Great place! read more

Coffee is decent! I feel like this spot is quite overpriced tho for the quality. When you're paying close to $10 for an oat milk latte with syrup, I expect the quality to be decent. I find that the flavored syrups barely taste like anything. Like a hint of the flavor. Especially the rosé cardamom - do not recommend! I am a big rose flavored anything person but this syrup does not taste like rose at all! or cardamom. The one thing Siphon has going for them tho is their food. They have great breakfast tacos and pastries. Pastries are half off during their last hour also! Also love their outdoor seating area on a nice day. Beautiful tables plants. The inside seating is ok - not many plug points tho. read more

Great place to relax, surf the net, and have good libations. You can get quick foods like muffins, rolls, and even a breakfast sandwich cooked to order. Beers and wine are available too for your afternoon get togethers. Their signature drink is coffee made with a siphon pot. It reminds me of a smaller version of something my grandmother used on occasion when I was a wee lad. The process is still the same, water in the lower half of the pot is heated to boiling and it rises up through a tube into a the upper chamber where a dose of coffee grounds await. When all of the water has risen, the heat is then turned off where the cooling allows the the water-coffee mixture to drop back to the lower pot filtered of grounds on the way down. I've been to this place a number of times in the past and almost always order my Cortado as the usual. The other day I decided to splurge on the siphon coffee (it's at least double any other coffee drink). My impression of it is underwhelming but with that old familiar overcooked percolater coffee taste. It wasn't smooth and I would attribute that to using a very hot water temp and coffee grounds being ground too fine. I will be back, but not for siphon coffee. read more

always kind employees, awesome service. tasty coffee menu that hits. Robbie and Rae make my day better when they are working!

Cute little coffee shop that has a pup friendly patio. They had a funny sign on the door when we walked up that I appreciated (not going to post bc some people are aggressively loyal to their sports teams and I don't want to give anyone a reason NOT to drop by. They had a pretty solid menu of food, but I had already eaten! I chose to get a lavender latte with oat milk, and while good, it was a thicker consistency than I'm used to. I'll be back, I'm sure. read more

My brother and I went here last week for the first time and we will not be back. I'm not a fan of dogs being inside of restaurants. As we were enjoying a cup of coffee while getting some work done...a guy sits next to us and pulls a dog out of his bag. He has the dog sitting ON the table while he feeds him food from his hands. We lost our appetite and left after that. This place is small and the tables are stuffed in there. There is barely room to walk. The lady taking our order was not friendly. We informed her it was our first time visiting then she started talking a little bit. Overall, our experience was not great. read more

First time here after driving by it so many times. Unfortunately, I think I'll be going to other coffee shops instead. First interaction was walking in and seeing the entire staff eating candy away from the front. My partner and I stood by the register for about 3 minutes before someone came up. To which my partner and I were greeted with: "What do you want dude?" To take the order. My partner ordered. Then as she looked to me for me to order the cashier completely turned away from us 180 degrees, took two steps away, to continue a conversation with another employee. Confused, I stood there waiting while he joked with another employee, and grabbed a candy out of a bag of Halloween candy they had on their side of the register, for about 30 seconds. Then when he finally turned back around, I ordered. When we were finding a place to sit, probably 4/5 of the open seats had either food debris on it, empty dirty plates, or were otherwise unclean. Then after everything, the coffee was... fine at best. I got the Honey Bee and yet it tasted exactly the same as my partners Chai Latte. Which should be alarming enough as to the disorganization of this place. The barista didn't even know what I ordered when I asked for which drink was drink. Overall, I can't say anything about the food as we didn't try it. But otherwise. Steer clear. read more

Siphon Coffee is one of my favorite coffee shops in Houston! Perfect place for a casual meet up with a friend, study spot to get some work done, or just a quick coffee stop to get your day started. They have a private parking lot so it's usually not too hard to find parking, but they do share this lot with a couple other businesses. I like that they have a variety of seating areas. Long tables, small tables, bar seating, couches, and an outdoor patio area. They also have plenty of power outlets making this an ideal place to bring your laptop and get some work done. I also think it's cool they have a piano that they let people play on. Most people I've seen play on the piano are really good, and usually play perfect study music. As for the coffee, you can't go wrong here. You can tell the baristas really care about making you the perfect latte. They have a lot of specialty flavors like honey bee, cereal milk, rose cardamom, gold milk, and other flavors that rotate. My go to order is just a simple mocha latte with almond milk. No matter what you order though, you are guaranteed to get a quality cup of joe. Pro tip: All pastries are 50% off, and beer is 2 for 1 all after 5pm daily. read more

Have been a customer of Siphon for many years. It's a reliable spot that has good coffee. They also often host community events for local bands and poet slams for which you can buy tickets to if you sign up for the newsletter. As far as a study place, they are one of my favorites in the area. I personally prefer the barstool high tables near the window with plenty of outlets. There's probably about 10 spots at the window tables. There is another standing table near the middle of the shop but with no outlets, so better if you're charged or just hanging with friends. There are two other large tables where several people can sit but can get crowded. Plenty of other casual seating on couches inside and several booths outside for working. Love this place. My only small complaint is that sometimes I will leave when I arrive as it is too packed to find an outlet, which you can gauge based off parking spots in the street. Give them a try! read more

I came here with some friends on a bustling Saturday morning and enjoyed a tasty snickerdoodle latte. The prices are comparable for the area, if perhaps $1-2 higher. read more

Absolutely disgusted. I will NEVER spend another dollar at this place again. This morning, I was approached by a homeless individual who politely asked for a black coffee and a muffin. That's it. I agreed because it's basic human decency. As I walked toward the entrance to pay, some employee storms out, blocks my way, and tells me I'm not allowed to buy anything because it's for a homeless person. Seriously? He refused to let me in and denied me service. Not only is that humiliating it's heartless. As a regular customer, I'm beyond angry. That worker showed zero compassion, and if this is how your business treats people trying to help others, I want no part of it. Shameful. read more

I thought siphon was pretty good. I'm guessing a lot of people think it's great because it was packed! I got an americano and it was okay. I also got the Nutella muffin, it was meh. The flavor was actually really good, but the muffin was dry. To quote my lovely mother-in-law, "I don't like to waste my calories on dry cake." I definitely suggest trying out siphon. I have some friends from out of state and they swear by it. My mom got the snickerdoodle latte and the ham and cheese croissant. Both were delicious. Worth it to try it for yourself. read more

Food was decent but the service was S L O W. slow. I waited probably 20 minutes for an iced tea, and just watched people who came in after me walk away with their orders, while I was standing there at the bar. Also really crowded so you're basically "competing" with people for a place to sit. Definitely not the chill vibe you're looking for. They have a good amount of tables and seating outside though. Just know that everyone and their mom comes here to do work on their laptops. They do have trivia night here on Tuesdays 7-9pm and sounds like a cool concept, but I've never been personally. Loved the atmosphere of this coffee shop! I'm not the most avid coffee drinker so I can't say too much about the drinks (I got a free cold brew upon check in which was good, my friend got the drip coffee which was room temperature which wasn't great). I don't know who the people who work here think they are -- they're not. I asked for a double caramel macchiato, iced. They informed me they couldn't do it iced because it has steamed milk. I asked them if they wouldn't mind just putting it over ice anyway? They said they will not. I'm confused here: you can put hot coffee over ice but not milk? I've been in the service industry for over 25 years and when a guest makes a request that's doable that I may not necessarily recommend, I'd do it, because that's the whole reason I'm there. To provide a service. Back to the order, "Well can you just put ice on the side so I can do it myself?" *begrudgingly* "sure." Go to sit down. Chair back is completely broken and flopping around. Awesome. Put it in the office or in the trash. Receive my platter of an extra espresso shot, caramel macchiato and a cup of ice. Could you not put the double shot and steamed milk in a larger cup? Take it back to my table and toss it all into the ice. Perfect. I return the tray of assorted empty cups back to the bar top as a sign of courtesy. Sit back down. *my name is called quite loudly* I turn around and I'm told quite rudely where the empty cups are supposed to go. After my girlfriend capitulates and moves the cups to their approved station, I'm done with this joint. As we are leaving I inform the second obstinate barista that I don't work there. She says something about common courtesy or something along those lines. I figured I was being courteous by bringing it back to the counter and my mistake for missing the training meeting on where I'm supposed to place dishes when I'm done paying for a service. I'm sure I won't be missed by the staff here for whatever reason, but I sure hope everything is okay at home for them. Needless to say I refuse to come here again. To the owner: if this is how you've trained your staff, best of luck. If not, you may want to check on the level of 'customer service' they're not providing at your establishment. It's embarrassing. Extra star because I can empathize with people having a bad day. Edit: Minus 1 star for the manager doubling down, making an excuse, supplying a myth, and assuming everyone saw his sign for where empty cups go. I don't have the greatest eyesight in the world, so I guess my bad for not exploring the whole place before I clocked in. read more

Siphon is a *insert thumbs up emoji* Saturday morning coffee from a neighborhood coffee shop is a joy that can't be overlooked. We went to Siphon and parked down the street because the lot was popping, but inside was still a relaxing and not excessively busy of a shop. It has your standard coffee shop vibe with a decent amount of seating. It's not too loud and has inside and out seating, I'd definitely come by to study here. The staff was super friendly and helpful with the menu, which seemed really cold that they even have an option where you can order a dealers choice. We got the the Cereal milk latte and the honey bee latte and both were solid hits . The barista recommended ordering a mix of the cereal milk and snickerdoodle and I will definitely do that, as we thought it would be too sweet, but the cereal latte was more subtle then expected (because we didn't mix it up well). At the end of the day I really liked siphone and would totally recommend and go again, 10/10 read more

Good tea but bad service. The person taking my order kept chitchatting to her coworker, and they were laughing and basically ignoring me while I was trying to put in my order. The tea is awesome, but I did not feel like I could really stay and enjoy it because of how I was treated. I have been there before and did not have that experience, so this was disappointing. This is my go-to coffee spot to do some work. Strong cup of coffee and delicious tacos :) Food I've tried a few things, and I think everything is a little expensive for what you get. My favorite though is their tacos (starts at $4) and they're pretty filling. Ive had their empanadas and quiches and thought they were meh. Pastries are good but basic (def ask to heat it up) and are half off after a certain time (I think 5pm). Drinks Usually I just get a black coffee, and they have a bottomless drip option. The siphon coffee is cool, but I personally didn't find it better than the regular drip. As for lattes, I usually just get a chai latte. Ive tried some specialty lattes, but can't say they're the best. I can never really taste the "cereal flavor" in the cereal one . Space I believe there are only outlets at the high top seating and next to the community table by the restrooms. It can get pretty crowded, so it can be hard to find seating, but it's not that bad if you don't need an outlet! I've always been able to find seating in the mornings. Free WiFi with no password is solid and fast. I think a lot of people come here to study/work. There's also outdoor seating, and I've had no issues using the internet outside Parking Shares a lot with the other businesses so sometimes have to find street parking (though I've always been able to find a spot, and I usually go weekday mornings) Service I think they're generally friendly. You bus your own table once you're done, but sometimes they'll come around and grab your empty plates. read more
