After another brunch place nearby had a long wait, I ventured here. The restaurant is fairly small, with several booths and seating at a long container. On a Sunday morning it was pretty busy, but we were luckily able to snag one of the last booths available. Service was friendly and our waitress recommended some items. I decided on The Eastern Shore, which came on your choice of bread (biscuit, English muffin, or Kaiser roll). I was set on ordering it on a biscuit, but after the waitress mentioned that the size of the bread dictated the size of the crab cake, I went with the Kaiser roll as she recommended. Who wouldn't want more crab cake for the same price?! Hello! I really enjoyed The Eastern Shore. The crab cake was packed with lots of lump crab meat and barely any filler. The fried egg and bacon were great additions to the sandwich. The home fries that accompanied the sandwich were good...crispy. I also shared a short stack of french toast, which I thought was just okay. Your standard french toast. I enjoyed watching the cook make my meal in front of me due to their open cooking area. The breakfast food was delicious! We all cleaned out plates not leaving a crumb. The French toast with berries was cooked perfectly so it wasn't soggy and had a small crisp to it. The berries were fresh and not soggy like they had been sitting around. It's a smaller place but tables turned over quickly because the servers were on top of things. It was a diner, and the owners work right at your service. It's a small place, narrow but has enough tables to support the business they have. But I do understand Guy Fieri was there and when the show airs in the Spring they may get a bit busier than usual - get in there now! So the Diner is authentic - great diner food. They were out of ice cream the day we went which made me sad (no shake) but the veggie/falafal burger I had was wonderful. They also had a baklava cheese cake that I would go back for (made by a local bakery). They did also have homemade rice pudding which was tastey. It's a diner. It's open when nothing else is. It's available when you're drunk and need greasy food. Sober, I still genuinely enjoy their food! Their Mediterranean platters are always solid. Tonight I enjoyed the Monte Cristo sandwich... a gluttonous combination of heavenly French toast bread, topped with blueberry jam sauce and fresh fruit, with thick sliced ham, turkey and cheese in between, grilled perfectly. The steak and cheese is also good. Highly pleased with their diner food. We mostly do carry out or delivery; the eat-in experience is nothing special. Neither are the French fries - skip them (lack seasoning and are soggy). The cheesecake was also not good. It was light and fluffy like mousse, and lacked real substance. None of that rich, decadent flavor you expect with cheesecake. The strawberry syrup tasted artificial. Still a go-to, solid diner in my book. read more

Staff were able to accommodate our group of six, which was really nice. According to my friends, the Chesapeake Benedict crab cakes were delicious and contained so much lump crab, and the price (a mere $15!!!) is unbelievable. I had the south of the border omelet in a pita wrap, and it was super delicious. I like that you can get your omelet in a pita and turn it into a breakfast burrito sort of thing. But it's clear that business is amazing because when we arrived, luckily, there was one booth left in the corner. During the time we were there, there was constantly a line and wait! The sweet potato pancakes are delicious. You do not need any sides with this meal because the portion is large. The home fries were good. My friend ordered the classic breakfast, which came with bacon (or any meat) eggs, home fries, and toast. He said it was 3 star good because he just ordered a plain meal, not the speciality meal. Came here midday with some friends. From the outside it looks more modern but when you come in it's out dated. They might be renovating because the walls look half painted over. One huge issue for me is when I had to change my sons diaper I was told where the bathroom was but it was disgusting with no changing table. The food was reasonable considering it's a diner. I had the Falafel pita with fries and it was pretty good. The pita was huge for me so I took some food home. My husband got the 3 grilled cheese. I didn't enjoy it as much as he would have liked. Sip and Bite's menu offers a very wide range of options outside of the standard as well, and I haven't been disappointed yet when trying a new dish at random. I came here for breakfast with a friend and ordered a combo with scrambled eggs, a short stack of pancakes, and bacon. The food was really simple and nothing amazing but the diner was clean and the service was good. The prices are really affordable and the menu is huge ( with some Greek food options as well). The chicken & waffles saved this review from being a 2 or 1 star. I've driven past this restaurant several times before but only recently decided to visit after a long night of interesting events. The waitress was rude I'm not sure what her name was but I was there at about 6 a.m. and all I wanted was good service from a friendly face. I told her that the ginger ale that my friend ordered for me is not what I wanted to drink and that I didn't drink out of it so she could just take it back and take it off of our bill and it seemed to be a problem with that. She eventually did take it off. There was also an issue with the bill. I'm not sure why there was an issue with getting a paper bill, but instead of letting us see what the price was on the bill, she told us what it was, which I've never experienced before... The food was great the chicken was very flavorful and the many waffles were so cute. I love the fact that the waffles tasted like funnel cakes. The style of the restaurant is like a diner. It's a small community restaurant that many people enjoy because it's open 24 hours. I would definitely go back, and hopefully it different waitress will serve me. read more

After they appeared on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives with host Guy Fieri and he commented on the size of the portions things changed for the worst. Portion size has bee cut dramatically and the price rose significantly. The Spanakopita is now about a third of what you used to get for more than double the price! Food was okay. I wanted to try the diners, dives and drive by foods and got the market price crab egg sandwich and the spanokopita breakfast platter. Both weren't bad but I could live my life without eating them again and have no regrets. Service was great and they had a home cooked baklava cheesecake that was definitely different. Waffles were batter-rich and rye toast was barely toasted and brought out toward the end of my meal. Over medium egg was over hard and some. Finally ventured to Baltimore and decided to try this diner. I called while on the way hoping my order would be ready on arrival but, nope, I got to sit on hold the whole ride there and even walk into the restaurant still holding my phone, on hold. When I walked in and approached the counter the waitress didn't acknowledge me AT ALL as she checked out another patron. She then turned around and walked completely away from the register as if I wasn't standing there. Then, another waitress approached and took my order, I tipped her, not bc the service was good but simply bc she acknowledged me. The chili cheese fries I purchased were a disappointment! Sliced cheese melted down on only certain pieces of the fries. The chicken gyro was tasty, thank god the total trip wasn't a disappointment. Would be willing to give a second try but I'll definitely think twice about it. Customer service could definitely use some help. read more

Probably some of the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Before explaining my experience, I will say that we were one of only 3 tables in the entire restaurant, so there was absolutely no reason why the service was as poor as it was. When we first arrived and seated ourselves, it took 15 minutes for someone to take our drink orders. We had planned to order an appetizer as well, but right after taking our drinks, the server started walking away and we had to stop her. After another 15 minutes or so, a completely different server, Gloria, had come over to us and tried to take our drink orders, even though our drinks were already sitting on our table. We let her know that we had put in an order of gyro fries which still had not come out. She had checked with the cook and let us know that our previous server had put in our order as one single gyro, not gyro fries, so they would have to remake it for us. When she took our food orders later on, I had specifically requested an egg on my burger. When she brought over our food, there was no egg on my burger at all. My mom had ordered the chicken and waffles and after our server brought us our food, she had asked for a bottle of syrup. The server left to grab some and we saw her on the other side of the counter talking to the cooks. She had completely forgotten about the syrup even though she had just asked for it. Instead, she grabbed some drinks for the table behind us and walked right past us without the syrup, so we once again had to ask her for it. A few minutes later, I asked her for a drink refill and she left, so I assumed she was going to get one. However, once again, I saw her on the other side of the counter talking. Just like before, she had forgot what we asked her and she walked right past our table without the refill. She was completely clueless. The food was okay, but definitely not the best I ever had. At the end of our meal when she gave us our check, I noticed that our drinks weren't listed on the check so we figured that she comped them for the terrible service. However, after we already paid the check, she came back over and told us that she had forgotten the drinks and made us redo our payment. How unprofessional. Too bad that gratuity was already included on the check, because I think it's pretty unfair that we were forced to tip a server who could barely do her job. The service at a restaurant truly does make or break the experience, and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened in this case. I will not be returning and I do not recommend this place to anyone who wants quick, good service. read more

We saw this place on Diners Drive Ins & Dives and thought we'd give it a try after Guy raved about the food (portions and taste!). We showed up, there was no wait and the owner greeted us. The space is small, but they made room for our stroller. We ordered the Triple D Special which was two crab cakes on the show. We were surprised when we only got one. Still tasty, hot and fresh but over cooked. The owner overheard our table discussing our surprise and sent our waitress over to get more detail. Long story short, he remade the crab cakes for us. They were much better, golden brown not black. He came over and chatted with us and apologized for the way our meal was prepared the first time. This type of care, concern and service from a business owner is rare. Because of our treatment, we will be back! The table next to us highly recommend the breakfast. The following Monday, one of them said the food was typical diner food in a dive diner. This sparked my interest because I love to try these type of places! Plus they've been in business for awhile! Anyhow, for any other local people from Hawaii, this is Baltimore's version of "Like Like Drive-Inn" in Honolulu minus the local island food but you get what I mean, right? The beef is fresh, and the roll is fresh and crisp. Fries or rings are both good. The blue plate special encompasses several different choices of great value and portion size. You get a entree, veggie, roll and sweet tea all included for $11.95. Excellent price for a lot of food. Fresh, fresh fresh...... Modern decor, small in size but big in flavor, and personality. I like the different kinds of music they pipe in.... Last week it was Reggae, Bob Marley. This week more along the lines of alternative. Something always different. They do have an ATM. The booths are a little tight for tall or large people but if you sit in the rear the booths have higher table tops, though no open table and chairs. They do have counter seating. Old school style. Since getting to MD I have been to Sip & Bite 3 times over the last few weeks. I really love this place. Sip & Bite is everything a diner should be. Independently owned, always busy, and the food is great! I've tried their whole gambit of food already: great breakfast, awesome burgers, and even some of their crab cakes. All fantastic! And if you've read any of my other reviews, you know that I'm a guy who loves to eat. The place has a great vibe. Whether it's 2pm in the afternoon or 2am in the morning this place is buzzing. People are happy to be there, I suspect because they know they're in for a rockin' meal! I can't speak to parking as I always just walk there from my friends' place, but the meals themselves are very reasonable. I've been to a couple of other diners since I've been in MD and was getting discouraged. Sip & Bite reminded me what a killer diner should be like. read more
