A group of friends and I took a "craft tea" class a little while back, which is the only time I have been in the shop as it is not in an area I frequent, so this review is really only regarding the tea class. The class itself was pretty straightforward and sent us all home with some teas and measuring supplies that we used in class, as well as using ingredients one might find at home instead of anything too exotic (maybe hibiscus seems exotic to some?), so I feel it was fairly well thought out in that regard. The lady who ran the class was patient and engaging and seemed to have a good background in traditional tea, which I appreciated a lot. While it wasn't anything groundbreaking, it's a good intro to folks who would like to dabble a bit in mixed tea drinks and aren't sure where to start, and it's also a fun class for groups of folks who just enjoy tea! It didn't have an option for couples, however, so it was a bit awkward for me and my husband to both have a full set of measuring cups and shakers to take home (maybe an option for just the tea for one person of a pair, but since we also used the tools given to us in the class, maybe that doesn't quite work out). The tea that we got was their "Ancient Black" and while I'll confess it is not my favorite, it is visibly a quality loose leaf tea with large leaves, so they seem to have good loose leaf tea for sale. If I get a chance to stop in the shop again, I would certainly be interested in trying a different loose leaf tea from them. read more

Came here twice this summer so far and have been happy with my experiences! There's indoor seating, and I like how you can order off the iPad on your own so you can see all the options. It's always cool and clean in here. The cocopandan seasonal drink, which is a combo of coconut and pandan, reminds me of Vietnamese Jell-O cake (that's often layered with coffee, pandan, and coconut jellies). I'd turn down my sweetness a little bit. It's like a refreshing dessert, not too overpowering with either flavor. The latte with matcha cream was just as good as their thai tea cream latte. I would prefer to takeoff the lid and sip the cream while drinking some of the latte on the bottom, but I took it home and eventually everything mixed together in my drink. It was still good though, not too sweet. I want to come back and try the double shot coffee drink. Another great find was the egg puff mochi waffle. My favorite waffle had been the one from Happy Lemon before, as they have a soft interior, but Sinceretea's hit it out of the ballpark! This is easily my favorite egg waffle place I've tried in the Bay Area. There's no hollowness here. The balls are completely full with a mochi center. Although I couldn't really taste the black sesame in mine that much, I think that it was perfectly sweetened and you don't need a dip. I would definitely come here for it again. It's $6.50. Other flavors include matcha, original, cinnamon, and there's even a savory one with cheese and bacon. This would be my go-to boba spot in this part of town. read more

Wow really fresh and great tasting tea! This is such a cute bright store. They have a limited menu which makes it easier to narrow down what you want. I tried: Cocopandan: 5/5 I got 25% sweetness and added pandan jelly. Reminded me of this Vietnamese che. It was really good! Mintea hibiscus: 5/5 super refreshing and tasty! A cute gem of a tea house right by Esplanade! Service: The baristas(?) we're so sweet and informative. The ordering set up is self-order via tablet but they're ere still there for any questions. Cool boba shop if you're in the area. They have a lot of options, you're able to order ahead online which is convenient or you can order at the kiosk. We pretty much know what we want so we tend to order ahead but while waiting I've seen a few people ask questions and the workers always seem helpful. They also have a few snack options. I tried the mini Belgian waffles and it comes warmed up with a mini cup of syrup - it's a pretty cool snack to go with my boba. This tea place near my house is my go-to for getting work done; plenty of outlets inside, plus they have outdoor seating for when the weather's nice. Just a heads-up though, parking is all street parking, and the restroom is outside. But honestly, the amazing and super fresh tea is worth it! I've tried all their milk teas, and they taste so authentic. While their egg puffs are good, you HAVE to try their savory beef "meat pie" it's like a giant, delicious dumpling. i've been coming to sinceretea ever since undergrad in sjsu, and i realized that i'm usually craving the drinks and desserts here. it's one of my favorite boba stores in sj and the bay area. their drinks are refreshing, not too sweet, and have so many cool flavors and toppings. they have matcha and thai tea creams for their coffee, and they have homemade pandan, rose, coffee jellies, and more! and they usually have free samples of their drinks by the door too, which is a great way to sample their large menu :) i HAVE to rave about their mochi egg puffs and i think they're the absolute best ones in SJ or the bay. they put a single piece of mochi in every single egg in the waffle and it is such a delightful and chewy seeet treat! they come in multiple flavors, and even have a savory option (without the mochi) which i believe is the bacon n' cheese. sinceretea usually is coming out with new seasonal drinks, and now they even offer in-store tea workshops! the new icy strawberry cloud drinks are pretty good but a little sweet: the clouds have a good strawberry flavor, and the jasmine milk slush is creamy and sweet. this place is good for hanging out with friends and to study as they do have outlets. however, it's a little bit loud since they play music in the store; but i don't mind because i prefer my study areas to not be super silent. i can't wait to come back for the fall special-tea's! read more

Ooh la la... I sincerely appreciate the quality of the tea and flavors of their offerings here at Sinceretea. This place is notch quality! My friends and I were walking by and felt like boba was calling our names. A brief look at their menu and you could tell that they have a huge emphasis on quality tea beverages with fruit flavor add-ons. They use a lot of house-made fruit purees which is such a nice treat compared to other boba shops that rely on purely syrup or at worst, powder flavoring. I ordered the Pink Lady ($6) which uses jasmine green tea as a base and infuses it with rose jam and guava juice. This drink was fantastic! It wasn't overly sugary despite me forgetting to ask for less sugar, and incredibly refreshing. Of course I added some of their soft boba inside to really complete the drink. I offered some to my friend who hadn't had boba in years and he was hooked. They also allow you to build your own tea beverages with choices of non-dairy creamer, different plant based milks, and cow's milk. I love that they have a variety of vegan friendly plant based options for no additional charge. If you're a milk tea fan, this is a safe spot for you. When I went in May 2021, they had reopened for indoor ordering so you can walk in instead of ordering online. However, it's probably faster to do it online so you can grab and go since the shop is small. No indoor seating is available yet but I'll be sure to come back in the future for another bougie boba drink. read more

I had been here before right before Covid hit and had been wanting to go back. I was in the area looking for some boba options and remembered they weren't too far away, so I decided to stop by. Once you go in, you are prompted to order on the iPad. They have some seasonal specialty drinks which all sounded pretty good. I ended up getting the Mango Paradise and the Berry Merry (both with boba) and their brown sugar mochi waffle (about $18 without tip). The drinks were pretty good. I liked the coconut cream on the Mango Paradise as it made the drink creamier and actually less sweet. Their boba was really firm with a good, chewy texture. I'm usually not a big fan of mochi textured food, but their waffle was pretty good. I liked dipping it in the brown sugar sauce they gave on the side so I could control the sweetness. I'd come back even though the location is a little inconvenient. There's not much around the block besides apartment complexes but it's close enough to SJ Japantown that I wouldn't mind swinging by to pick up a drink again. Due to Covid, you have to place your order in advance on their website or through DoorDash. I tried: -Chocolate Mochi Egg Puff ($6): Solid mochi egg puff, and this had good chocolate flavor without being overly sweet. The egg puff was crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. Up until now, I had not tried anything from their new menu, but have gotten drinks for friends and they've enjoyed them. I've now only had the Pink Lady (green tea + rose jam & guava juice). It was refreshing and not too sweet, lovely for a hot day. The inclusion of actual flowers at the bottom of the drink was interesting. I am looking forward to trying their other menu items! I also appreciate that they still offer everything with non-dairy options! If you do loose leaf tea, I highly recommend trying out some of their offerings. I have gotten bags of the roasted oolong & jasmine green tea and found the quality and flavor of both to be fantastic! A better version of Teaspoon! Shop was really small though, when we stopped by all the tables were occupied save for the high chairs at the bar area. Order from a tablet and drinks came out promptly. I think the menu changes up a bit because I didn't see kumquat one (I like ordering things that are popular on Yelp when trying new places). Ended up getting a Pink Lady and it was really good. Refreshingly fruity with light tea taste - they managed to get it to about the borderline right before it would start to taste watered down. Unfortunately, the location is kind of out of the way for me since I rarely have reason to go to DTSJ. Only street parking available, but we were lucky it was pretty empty Saturday afternoon and parked right in front. They offer tea workshops though which is pretty cool - maybe we'll try it out sometime! read more

Very cute little tea place. They have some unique flavors and types of tea. They do use actual brewed tea and it tastes great! I ordered the cucumber breeze. It was not too sweet and very refreshing. You can adjust the sweetness, add ons are available (.50-.65 cents depending on what you get), and there's also an option to make your drink caffeine free. I do not know if these options are available for all drinks. Definitely coming back to try their Berry in Love, Teaña Colada, and Rose Milk Tea. You cannot order inside you have to order online. It is not a QR code it is a link to their website. It's very easy to order from the website. Since there was no one there, I was able to get my drink in 5 minutes. They do have parking in the front for a limited time as well. It's not very busy in the area so you should be able to find street parking easily. Came here to check out the tea and tried the following: 1. Pink Lady 50% sweet (no add-ons), 2. Citrus Punch 50% sweet (no add-ons), and 3. Black sesame mochi egg puff I personally loved my Pink Lady. I usually do not like rose teas because it's too floral but this one is a good balance. Best of all, it was not too sweet. The Citrus Punch that the SO ordered was much sweeter, despite the same sugar level, so I liked it but it was more juice and a lot of the tea flavor was muted. It was good but I would get it less sweet if I had to go for it again. I was meh about the black sesame. The mochi pieces texture took awhile for me to get used to because I wasn't sure if it would be batter or pieces. At first, due to the texture, my brain kept thinking it was undercooked dough. I might have liked matcha or chocolate or original more. Or maybe just not my thing. The sesame umami wasn't coming through enough for me to recommend it. I'd say it's a very light sesame flavor. The SO saw the BunBao first. We're already a huge fan of these guys, but very specifically their Southern flavor. This was unfortunately not a flavor that's available so we didn't get it this time. I think this would be a good opportunity to try their cheeseburger or BBQ flavor baos without buying a box. If you see the southern or norther flavored baos, I highly recommend grabbing at least one. Also tried a sample of their milk tea, and it's pretty good! The sample was a bit sweet so I'd do at least 50% sweet, but the tea flavor was strong. We will definitely be back. I love their mochi egg puffs, but the drinks tasted watered down, which was actually quite disappointing. The jellies themselves are quite good. It's not too overpowering, tastes housemade, and the texture is good. My friend and I tried this place after I wanted a nearby boba spot I haven't tried. I'm glad we came here! It's a cute spot inside and out. When we came on a weekday afternoon it wasn't busy. There were 3 female employees literally waiting to take our order lol. It was cool they had a sample of Berry Merry. It was with 50% sugar and it was perfect.
