    Pandan Matcha ($7)
    John D.

Café Away A locally-owned specialty café that has seen a lot of success lately, as they've just opened their fourth location in less than four years (circa 2022). They specialize in Asian-style sweetened tea and coffee drinks with some unique flavors like Pandan, Ube, and Egg coffee. They also serve a small selection of bánh mì, musubi, and pastries. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Online orders and pickup available * Order and pay at the kiosk * Great décor and vibes inside. A great place for studying or just chilling out with a drink. * The Pandan Matcha was still a little too sweet for my liking despite selecting the "less sweet" option, but otherwise it was very good. The Meh: * The bánh mì were just okay. I wouldn't come here specifically for them, but if you happen to be here and you're hungry, they'll get the job done. * No outdoor seating The Ugly: * Located between a Salvation Army and a head shop, this location draws in some suspicious characters just lingering about the lot. Conclusion: Drinks were pretty good, but avoid the sandwiches. I'll probably skip this location and try their newer Campbell location next time, which is closer to home.

Came across Phin Cafe while browsing Yelp for a drink and decided to stop by since it's close to home and the menu looked interesting online. We ordered: - Banana matcha (3/5): The banana flavor was pretty subtle, and while the matcha was decent, it leaned a bit on the grainy side. - Avocado smoothie (4.5/5): You really can't go wrong with this one; smooth, well blended, and perfectly creamy with the milk - Pandan coffee (3/5): The pandan initially tasted quite artificial, but once it was fully mixed into the coffee, it was just okay overall.

I've been hearing about Phin cafe for a few months now but haven't made a dedicated trip to try. Had lunch yesterday in the plaza across the street and saw it was close by!!!! Sunday afternoon around 2pm did not have a line, pretty quiet and empty besides 4-5 people waiting for their drinks. I walked in and was so happy to see a long list of Asian flavored cream topper to their coffeeee!!! I saw that they had durian, pandan, ube and of course egggg. There were more but those flavors stood out to me the most. The only downside is that they don't really tell you the difference between the house coffee or the in-house phin coffee unless you ask the cashier. The house coffee is their regular coffee with a flavor cream topper. The in-house Phin coffee has to be drank in store, comes with their drip coffee with condensed milk, the foam on the side and pieces of toasted baguette to dip and eat with it. After the cofffee is done, you pour into your cup of ice and put the cream top over it. We got the house coffee with durian topper and the Phin coffee with pandan topper. My friend and her bf both got pate chauds-- one sesame and one chicken. Wait time for food and drink was relatively quick. Maybe 5-10 minute or less. My friend mentioned the pate chaud was dry but flavor was ok. The lightly buttered sweet toasted baguette that came with the Phin coffee was also soooooo dry. I tried eating it and I couldn't even finish it, even dipping it in the cream didn't save it The coffee itself was pretty good!! The durian cream is very fragrant and yummy, not too overpowering but good for durian lovers. The pandan cream was also fragrant and had the classic coconut and light vanilla grassy taste. My friend's bf liked their coffee so much, he ordered the coconut one to go for later! Decor was very cute, I love the extra cushions and benches. They decorated it for Christmas so they have a bunch of Christmas display items.

    Corn Matcha

I ordered Phin Cafe to get me through one of those tired days in the office. I tried a few items and overall had a mixed but pleasant experience. The corn matcha was really good. It was smooth, lightly sweet, and comforting, with a subtle corn flavor that paired nicely with the matcha. The egg coffee was rich, creamy, and well balanced without being overly sweet. Unfortunately, the sticky rice was too hard and dry. I would definitely come back to try more drinks, but probably skip the sticky rice next time.

    Durian coffee and pandan matcha

Durian coffee: 4/5 way better once mixed and some ice has melted. Strong durian flavor in the cream. Pandan matcha: 0/5 the pandan tastes artificial. Really does not taste like pandan anymore. It tasted more like the container it's been sitting in--plastic-y. Matcha tasted grainy. Pass on this. Not as strong as Tram Coffee, which I kinda like. Lots of people ahead of me but didn't even realize because they were all online orders. If you're in a rush, order online!

Coffee was delicious and egg puffs were too. I had the pandan coffee. They give you the option to sub with alternative milk, and decaf if needed. You can use the tablet to order or wait for a staff member. They decorate was cute and holiday themed. When we arrived there was a large table available for our entire group (8 of us). Will go back to try other drinks and food!

    Coffee with matcha cloud

We came here on Christmas morning for our coffee fix. Located in a small strip mall, Phin Cafe is known for their Vietnamese coffee and other Asian inspired drinks. The service is really nice and everyone is friendly. There is ample parking in the strip mall. I went with a coffee latte with matcha cloud topping ($7). I wasn't sure what to expect mixing coffee with matcha, but it came out great. The latte tasted like a normal latte with milk and gave that coffee taste I was looking for. While the matcha cloud was sweet and fluffy, with a hint of bitter matcha flavoring. I loved it! A real match made in heaven. Overall, I'd definitely come back for another round of latte + matcha cloud, or to try something new.

    Salted Matcha
    Megan C.

Tried this place out for the first time and I am obsessed with their salted matcha! I love that all of their house special drinks can be matcha's instead of coffees. I got less sweetness and it was the perfect level balanced out by their salted cream. The cafe is cute with a good amount of seating inside. Service was quick and line wasn't very long on a Saturday afternoon.

A good coffee and matcha spot to get good drinks! We got the egg coffee and banana matcha and both had good sweetness to them! They have nice seating in here to sit down and good food selection here too.

Look how much ice was in here. Barely anything to drink. Absolutely diabolical.

Wow I spoke too soon. Wanted to get phin cafe before my drive to LA because it was so great last time, but not only got bad attitude from the staff when I ordered, but also my durian matcha latte is literally filled almost to the top with ice. Within a few sips, I was done with the drink, because there was literally so little to begin with. There must've been like barely 1/4 of a cup of actual drink. This is absolutely diabolical. Especially if you're charging $7+. @Management please look at this photo!! This was at Blossom Hill location on 12/30/2025 at 9:20am

Got here on a Saturday and it was not as crowded as my first time here but a constant flow of ppl coming in. We Ordered the egg coffee, durian coffee ,banana matcha, and sesame rose matcha. All of these tasted good to me, except for one, the sesame rose matcha, for me, the flavors just didn't work together. It tasted as if I was drinking the left over water from a can of beans, that's just the thought I kept having. It's on the menu for a reason so that's just my taste buds for me, but I would definitely like try other drinks on the menu. They do have a seasonal drink menu that's currently on display, but apparently it's either old from lady or just not in season. It's their corn series for a fall. Why have it up if it's not available, my wife was excited to try it, but we were sadly informed that it's not in season. Coffee price here is good in comparison to America coffee shops, but pricier than other viet coffees .If you're looking for Vietnamese coffee with a sophisticated spin, than this is the place. It's an added bonus that it's not overly sweet for viet coffee , the biggest compliment Asians can give.

    Matcha Lemonade
    Cecilia Y.

Their Ube coffee, Viet coffee and egg coffee are pretty delicious and strong but their banana pudding matcha is alright. Def ranks lower for me compared to all the other banana matcha drinks in the Bay. Their matcha lemonade is a hit or miss depending on the sweetness you choose since lemonade is sour. Spam musubis are pretty standard but price is decent if you're looking for a coffee spot with food.

Nice coffee shop with a good vibe overall. I stopped in for a matcha while being back in California and appreciated that it was relatively affordable compared to some nearby spots. The space itself is pleasant--lots of seating, comfortable temperature, and a mix of people working and hanging out. They're also dog-friendly, which was a big plus since I was able to bring my pup with me. The matcha was good. They don't offer almond milk, which was a downside for me, so I went with whole milk instead. Oat milk is the only alternative. My drink did take a bit longer than expected, even though it didn't feel overly busy. It seemed like a lot of orders were for pickup rather than people sitting in the space. One thing worth noting is the music volume--it was on the louder side. Totally fine if you're there to hang out or chat, but it made it harder for me to focus and get work done, which is usually why I go to coffee shops. For that reason alone, I probably wouldn't come back specifically to work. Everything else was fine. Cute, high-quality cups with the sippy-style lid, solid ambiance, nothing particularly wrong. That said, there wasn't a strong standout or unique element that made it especially memorable, especially given how many great coffee options are in the area. Overall, it's an okay place to go. I enjoyed my drink and the vibe, but it's not a must-return spot for me. A solid, neutral experience.

Drinks: I've tried several of their teas, all of which are rich in flavor. My favorite is the Assam milk tea, which is earthy, creamy, and has probably the strongest tea flavor out of all the ones I've tried. If I'm feeling a sweeter drink, I get the Love Cream (their famous Jasmine milk tea with caramel and sea cream, and I add boba of course); I don't love overly floral drinks and their Jasmine milk tea is just right. Their coffee is STRONG, and maybe I'm more caffeine-sensitive than I'd like to admit, but the Tiger drink (another secret menu item that's half house coffee and half Thai tea) is perfectly balanced! Other tips: - Get the app to earn rewards and browse some secret menu drinks on there. I've learned that ordering on the app is so much quicker since employees don't typically stay at the register + super easy pickup mini-fridge near the counter. - I've studied for loooong hours here, like many others, with no problem at all as long as you don't mind busier environments. It's well-lit, has 2 private bathrooms that are relatively well maintained, fast Wi-Fi, adequate parking spots, and they recently added a little water dispenser station if needed lol. - If you don't BYO snacks, they have a limited but decent selection of pastries and macarons. - Sit at the tables/booth seats opposite to the entrance doors for easy access to outlets. - Peak times depend on the day, but I'd say it generally gets super busy and loud around 3-5pm.

Each drink is hand-whisked, so well worth the wait. Their cold foams were delicious and super flavorful as well. I was so excited to try the mango sticky rice matcha, as I hadn't seen this flavor anywhere else. The drink has a creamy salted coconut milk cold foam on top and some mango puree and glutinous rice on the bottom. Once everything was mixed, the mango flavor does get lost unfortunately. But still, the drink was amazing and rich. The guava li-hing matcha was sooo vibrant! I loved how the tropical flavor of the guava cold foam sprinkled with li-hing balanced out the earthy matcha. I've tried other guava matchas with guava puree on the bottom rather than cold foam on top, but I definitely prefer the latter to preserve the matcha flavor. I tried the Banana Matcha and the Pandan Matcha to get a feel for their specialty options. The Banana Matcha tasted a bit watered down and lacked that rich, earthy matcha taste I look for. The Pandan Matcha was a bit more balanced in terms of flavor, but the overall texture of both drinks felt a bit off. While I appreciate the craftsmanship and the visual appeal of the drinks, the flavor profile just was not quite there this time. Slightly my fault for coming ~50 minutes before close since I know it's usually a time that most smaller boba shops don't have fresh boba, but, as usual, old soggy-ish boba sucks. Banana cream/topping actually pretty solid, matches similar flavors from some of my other favorite banana matcha spots like Aroma/Haiku. Matcha itself, kind of a bit weaker which was not as fun. So I appreciate, not being hounded with 90% ice and 10% drink, but there needs to be a balance, as the drink basically came lukewarm with no ice to help it cool down into a nicer temperature to drink. Ambiance is a bit nicer/more modern than what Tleaf Teapresso had, although that may just be due to the holiday decor. Pricing is a bit high, although the sizing does match the pricing a bit nicer than most spots so this is a hit or miss for me. Overall I think it's just a matter of trying them out at a better time that they have fresher ingredients.
