I've only tried their banana matcha so I can't speak to their coffee (which I've heard amazing things about), but this drink in particular is solid! I prefer a little stronger matcha flavor, but the quality was good. The banana cream top didn't taste artificial at all. They also have several seasonal drinks (I want to go back to try the piña colada matcha) and food items. The inside is pretty small, but super aesthetic, clean, quiet, great natural night, and there are several tables. I can envision it being a nice study spot too! I also left with a gift card for my roomie (this is one of her fave matcha spots in South Bay) and the staff member was kind and helpful.
I love getting egg coffee here especially when I'm around the area. Egg coffee is my go to and Phin Cafe is one of my favorites for them. I do like my coffee a little darker so here and there I will add an extra shot or ask for less sweet coffee. The staff is patient and super helpful when recommending drinks too. The cafe itself is so cute and my kiddos love it here. They especially enjoy the spam masubis.
Café Away A locally-owned specialty café that has seen a lot of success lately, as they've just opened their fourth location in less than four years (circa 2022). They specialize in Asian-style sweetened tea and coffee drinks with some unique flavors like Pandan, Ube, and Egg coffee. They also serve a small selection of bánh mì, musubi, and pastries. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Online orders and pickup available * Order and pay at the kiosk * Great décor and vibes inside. A great place for studying or just chilling out with a drink. * The Pandan Matcha was still a little too sweet for my liking despite selecting the "less sweet" option, but otherwise it was very good. The Meh: * The bánh mì were just okay. I wouldn't come here specifically for them, but if you happen to be here and you're hungry, they'll get the job done. * No outdoor seating The Ugly: * Located between a Salvation Army and a head shop, this location draws in some suspicious characters just lingering about the lot. Conclusion: Drinks were pretty good, but avoid the sandwiches. I'll probably skip this location and try their newer Campbell location next time, which is closer to home.
I've been hearing about Phin cafe for a few months now but haven't made a dedicated trip to try. Had lunch yesterday in the plaza across the street and saw it was close by!!!! Sunday afternoon around 2pm did not have a line, pretty quiet and empty besides 4-5 people waiting for their drinks. I walked in and was so happy to see a long list of Asian flavored cream topper to their coffeeee!!! I saw that they had durian, pandan, ube and of course egggg. There were more but those flavors stood out to me the most. The only downside is that they don't really tell you the difference between the house coffee or the in-house phin coffee unless you ask the cashier. The house coffee is their regular coffee with a flavor cream topper. The in-house Phin coffee has to be drank in store, comes with their drip coffee with condensed milk, the foam on the side and pieces of toasted baguette to dip and eat with it. After the cofffee is done, you pour into your cup of ice and put the cream top over it. We got the house coffee with durian topper and the Phin coffee with pandan topper. My friend and her bf both got pate chauds-- one sesame and one chicken. Wait time for food and drink was relatively quick. Maybe 5-10 minute or less. My friend mentioned the pate chaud was dry but flavor was ok. The lightly buttered sweet toasted baguette that came with the Phin coffee was also soooooo dry. I tried eating it and I couldn't even finish it, even dipping it in the cream didn't save it The coffee itself was pretty good!! The durian cream is very fragrant and yummy, not too overpowering but good for durian lovers. The pandan cream was also fragrant and had the classic coconut and light vanilla grassy taste. My friend's bf liked their coffee so much, he ordered the coconut one to go for later! Decor was very cute, I love the extra cushions and benches. They decorated it for Christmas so they have a bunch of Christmas display items.
Two years later, I'm still impressed by the consistency, service, and quality of the drinks and snacks here. Today I had an iced latte with oat milk and a chicken pastry, and both were great. I stopped by around 9:30 a.m., and it was calm, serene, and quiet. After 12 p.m., it tends to get jam-packed, so I'd definitely recommend going early if you want a more peaceful experience.
I ordered Phin Cafe to get me through one of those tired days in the office. I tried a few items and overall had a mixed but pleasant experience. The corn matcha was really good. It was smooth, lightly sweet, and comforting, with a subtle corn flavor that paired nicely with the matcha. The egg coffee was rich, creamy, and well balanced without being overly sweet. Unfortunately, the sticky rice was too hard and dry. I would definitely come back to try more drinks, but probably skip the sticky rice next time.
I've visited this location of Phin Café a couple times to work from café when visiting the South Bay. It's a great spot with a decent amount of seating and free WiFi. I was drawn to this place because of their speciality drinks, and I especially like the pandan coffee, which comes with a yummy cookie that's hollowed out, so it can be used as a straw to eat the pandan foam.
Came across Phin Cafe while browsing Yelp for a drink and decided to stop by since it's close to home and the menu looked interesting online. We ordered: - Banana matcha (3/5): The banana flavor was pretty subtle, and while the matcha was decent, it leaned a bit on the grainy side. - Avocado smoothie (4.5/5): You really can't go wrong with this one; smooth, well blended, and perfectly creamy with the milk - Pandan coffee (3/5): The pandan initially tasted quite artificial, but once it was fully mixed into the coffee, it was just okay overall.
I've been going here regularly as my favorite coffee shop for a while now! Even though I like to try new drinks from here when I see them advertised, I will always be faithful to my one true love, nutella banana coffee. Besides the drinks being amazing, the food is also amazing. I believe we tried the spinach and kale pate chaud, and also the chorizo one. Both were honestly amazing. To be honest, it's a bit pricey for a pastry so small but it is quite filling and I'd like to think it's worth it for the amount of labor that probably goes into making such a small bite absolutely amazing! The ambiance is also quite nice, people there are usually studying so it's quiet and very welcoming I'd say. I love the interior decorations as well because it makes this place feel like it's a separate own thing and not connected to the other stores nearby. I love the classical music covers that they play inside the store as well. The baristas are always nice and willing to help with giving any suggestions and answering questions for when I have/need any. And lastly, the wait time is very reasonably low for the amount of people also ordering. Overall, I love this place and I will continue to be back for that nutella banana coffee. + Phin Cafe and Goodwill makes me genuinely enter flow state
Durian coffee: 4/5 way better once mixed and some ice has melted. Strong durian flavor in the cream. Pandan matcha: 0/5 the pandan tastes artificial. Really does not taste like pandan anymore. It tasted more like the container it's been sitting in--plastic-y. Matcha tasted grainy. Pass on this. Not as strong as Tram Coffee, which I kinda like. Lots of people ahead of me but didn't even realize because they were all online orders. If you're in a rush, order online!
Coffee was delicious and egg puffs were too. I had the pandan coffee. They give you the option to sub with alternative milk, and decaf if needed. You can use the tablet to order or wait for a staff member. They decorate was cute and holiday themed. When we arrived there was a large table available for our entire group (8 of us). Will go back to try other drinks and food!
We came here on Christmas morning for our coffee fix. Located in a small strip mall, Phin Cafe is known for their Vietnamese coffee and other Asian inspired drinks. The service is really nice and everyone is friendly. There is ample parking in the strip mall. I went with a coffee latte with matcha cloud topping ($7). I wasn't sure what to expect mixing coffee with matcha, but it came out great. The latte tasted like a normal latte with milk and gave that coffee taste I was looking for. While the matcha cloud was sweet and fluffy, with a hint of bitter matcha flavoring. I loved it! A real match made in heaven. Overall, I'd definitely come back for another round of latte + matcha cloud, or to try something new.
Got here at 10am on a Tuesday and the wait was a bit long because there was a large delivery order being made before us. The workers were very friendly and apologized for the wait but it was perfectly OK. The interior was aesthetic and cozy, perfect place to read a book / hang out / reset your life lol. I do wish there was a smaller size, only medium / large were available. There were so many options, I wanted to try them all. Their sugarcane series looked interesting. I ate a cold-cut combo banh mi here. The bread was fresh and crispy, there was a large serving of vegetables, and I got extra meat, all of which was good, except the headcheese was a little bit hard. Unfortunately, it's a 4-star rather than a 5-star because the sandwich was too dry. It needed a thicker spread of mayo. This cafe is located in a rather dire strip mall, and it is the one shining light of the area. That is commendable. read more

Tried this place out for the first time and I am obsessed with their salted matcha! I love that all of their house special drinks can be matcha's instead of coffees. I got less sweetness and it was the perfect level balanced out by their salted cream. The cafe is cute with a good amount of seating inside. Service was quick and line wasn't very long on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Got here on a Saturday and it was not as crowded as my first time here but a constant flow of ppl coming in. We Ordered the egg coffee, durian coffee ,banana matcha, and sesame rose matcha. All of these tasted good to me, except for one, the sesame rose matcha, for me, the flavors just didn't work together. It tasted as if I was drinking the left over water from a can of beans, that's just the thought I kept having. It's on the menu for a reason so that's just my taste buds for me, but I would definitely like try other drinks on the menu. They do have a seasonal drink menu that's currently on display, but apparently it's either old from lady or just not in season. It's their corn series for a fall. Why have it up if it's not available, my wife was excited to try it, but we were sadly informed that it's not in season. Coffee price here is good in comparison to America coffee shops, but pricier than other viet coffees .If you're looking for Vietnamese coffee with a sophisticated spin, than this is the place. It's an added bonus that it's not overly sweet for viet coffee , the biggest compliment Asians can give. read more

We had such a great experience at Phin Coffee! I ordered the Salted Coffee and my hubby got the Coconut Iced Coffee both at 50% sweet, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and smooth, and the sweetness level was perfect and not overpowering, just really balanced. The salted coffee had this amazing creamy, slightly salty foam that made every sip so good. We also tried the breakfast PÂTÉ CHAUD--both the pork and the spinach--and wow... they were soooo good. The pastry was perfectly flaky and warm, and the fillings were super flavorful. It was the perfect pairing with the coffee. The whole experience was great--great drinks, great food, and a spot we'll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend if you're looking for amazing Vietnamese coffee and a delicious breakfast bite! read more

Their Ube coffee, Viet coffee and egg coffee are pretty delicious and strong but their banana pudding matcha is alright. Def ranks lower for me compared to all the other banana matcha drinks in the Bay. Their matcha lemonade is a hit or miss depending on the sweetness you choose since lemonade is sour. Spam musubis are pretty standard but price is decent if you're looking for a coffee spot with food. read more
Matcha Latte 1/5: I would not recommend this. Matcha quality was not that good and there wasn't enough in the drink for me to taste it. It felt like a milk drink with only a hint of matcha. Durian Coffee 4/5: Their coffee is waaay better. Strong and not too sweet. The durian topping felt like a mixture of real and artificial durian. The shop itself was very cute and there's plenty of seats despite its size. It can get very crowded as customers can order their phin coffee to be served "fresh" in house. read more

Wow I spoke too soon. Wanted to get phin cafe before my drive to LA because it was so great last time, but not only got bad attitude from the staff when I ordered, but also my durian matcha latte is literally filled almost to the top with ice. Within a few sips, I was done with the drink, because there was literally so little to begin with. There must've been like barely 1/4 of a cup of actual drink. This is absolutely diabolical. A Vietnamese cafe serving up both traditional coffee and their specialty Vietnamese coffees that range from exquisite flavors such as Egg coffee, durian coffee, coconut coffee, Pandan Coffee, Ube coffee, chai coffee, milo coffee, corn coffee, matcha coffee and sesame rose matcha. They also serve Vietnamese sandwiches (Banh Mi), a variety of masubi, and snacks like Pandan waffle, egg puffs, popcorn chicken, fried fish ball, fried lobster ball, sweet potato fries, fried tofu, and more. I tried their Pandan Coffee. The Vietnamese coffee was strong, smooth, bold, and aromatic while the Pandan cream gave it a nice Pandan flavoring profile while adding a subtle sweetness. It was so good that I drank it in less than a minute. Minus 1 star only because 75% of the cup was filled with ice. For a $6.50 drink, I think I paid $5 worth of ice. I am going to get it hot next time to get my money's worth of drink. I'd like to try their other flavors in the future and maybe that Pandan Waffle. read more
Came here because I've been on a banana cream matcha wave and I saw people on social media rating and comparing drinks. I actually live closer to this coffee spot, but never came by because of mixed reviews from friends and family. We came here on a Friday morning and it wasn't busy inside. There were a couple tables sitting and a couple customers in line to order. I asked if they had a banana cream matcha and she said they had banana matcha. We ended up ordering it and it didn't take long to come out. We got home to try the banana matcha and it was just okay... it's definitely not what you would expect if you're used to having the banana cream on top, but it's not bad either. It literally tastes like the korean banana milk drink mixed with matcha. I'm used to just having banana cream on top and the matcha on the bottom without being mixed so it threw it off a little. One of my friends really enjoyed the drink because he said he likes bananas and matcha whereas my other friend said the taste of the banana was too strong for her. It was decent for me, but I wouldn't come back here again to order banana matcha. Maybe I'll try the coffee here next time. read more
We went to Finn Café a few days ago, and we saw that they were still having their fall promo of corn milk or corn flavors. My wife always loves corn-based things so she had to try it. She really enjoyed the drink and would likely get again. As for me, I got the salted Vietnamese coffee . On first impressions it looks like I paid for 20% coffee and 80% ice. However, since Vietnamese coffee is very strong once deluded with the ice, it still flavorful. The line here is always extremely busy so be ready for a little bit of a wait . read more
This cafe is very cute and inviting! I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon and this small location was pretty busy. Although busy, the atmosphere is very calm and I can see this as a great place to study or catch up with friends. I came here on a mission to try their matcha series and ended up trying a few of their snacks as well. On my first visit here, I ordered an Ube Matcha Latte w/ crystal boba and their California Musubi. My second time, I tried the popular Banana Matcha and their Grilled Chicken Banh Mi. On both visits, the staff were very friendly and both drinks and food came out pretty fast. Here's a rating of each item I tried: -Ube Matcha Latte (5/5) : HOLY CRAP! This was my first time trying an Ube Matcha drink and it definitely won't be my last. This drink was sooo good! When I think of Ube, I assume the drink is just going to be super sweet and not have much depth. I was surprised to find that the vibrant, purple Ube puree had a delicate floral flavor and was not overwhelmingly sweet. The matcha was slightly grassy and not bitter. The drink was creamy and I could taste both flavors. Both flavors complemented each other perfectly! Since Ube naturally leans on the sweeter side, I recommend ordering this drink 50% sweetness. -Banana Matcha (2/5): I was really excited to try this viral drink. Unfortunately, the banana matcha fell flat for me. The banana flavor was very faint and the matcha tasted watered down. I ordered this drink 50% sweetness and felt like I could've gone higher. I'm glad I tried this drink once but won't be ordering it again. -California Musubi (2/5): Filled with imitation crab, cucumbers, and avocado, this musubi was very simple and lacked flavor. Although it came with spicy mayo sauce on the side, I don't feel like it complemented well. I don't think I'll be getting this again. However, I am curious to try the other musubis they offer on their menu like the Spam and Egg or the Teriyaki Spam Musubi. -Grilled Chicken Banh Mi (5/5): This sandwich was flavorful and tasted very fresh! The baguette was crispy and flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwich was loaded with your typical Banh Mi fillings-- pickled daikon and carrots, cucumber, cilantro, and lots of jalapeno. The grilled chicken was very tender and the fresh jalapenos added some heat to the banh mi. My overall experience here was good! I think some of the items on their menu are hit or miss. I will come here again with friends to try other matcha drinks and snacks. read more
Yummy matcha and not overly sweet! I tried this for the first time since I was in the area and I like that they offer oat milk as a substitute.
