Ugh, their new chipotle chicken pizza is terrible. Who likes mayonnaise on their pizza? Which is basically what their chipotle sauce is. Their older recipe used a basic bbq sauce, and it was fairly decent. I have tried their squash blossom pizza, and they barely use any squash blossom and use some sort of seasoning that's very odd tasting to me. As I don't eat animal meat, those were the last two options available to me for a meatless pizza other than a rather dull margherita style. So arrivederci, Simmzy's from me. I didn't catch his name but he was just messing around with his coworkers most of the time rather than actually checking in on his customers. Simzy's in Long Beach is really great! The location is on trendy 2nd street. Last night I tried a new menu item and let me tell you.....the new Both burger is SO delicious!!! It is made with beef and veggies, so it tastes like an amazing juicy burger but with half the meat. I love that it is made up of 100% actual food, unlike some of the "plant"-based meat options, which have chemicals in them to make them more meat-like. This "Both burger" is half beef, other half mushrooms and veggies. It think it was seriously the best tasting burger I have ever had. And it's healthier without sacrificing taste at all (and no chemicals). I got it with a side of fries, which were the perfect crispiness (not that easy to find!!). Maybe not the best table for a super hungry couple... After a review of the menu I settled on the Bacon Blue Deluxe Burger. Angus beef + blue cheese, candied bacon, lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli, and frizzled shallots. Overall this was a great burger. The cheese & the candied bacon were an amazing combo and I truly believe they should be offered on all burgers everywhere. The bun was one of the softest buns I've ever had on a burger and the aioli just brought everything together beautifully. Buttttt for $13 the burger didn't come w/ fries or any side. What kind of 'deluxe' burger is this? Yes, I could have ordered a side of fries (for $3.50) but I'm stubborn and I just didn't... Instead we ended up ordering dessert! Simmzy's Apple Filled Donut. Ohmygosh. Fried donut filled w/ bites of cinnamon apples, , topped with vanilla ice cream, drizzled with caramel and chopped pistachios! Best $7 spent that day! This dish is a must order! This wasn't originally the place we had intended to get brunch but it honestly worked out for us when we did end up eating here. It's a really nice looking restaurant located right next to the beach and has outdoor and indoor seating. The nice part is that the restaurant is completely open, meaning there's not really walls around so you get the nice open breeze and fresh air. The only problem with this, and it's a reason why I only gave 4 stars is because there was an issue with a bunch of flies hovering over our table. We had at least 4 or 5 of them just buzzing around us the entire meal and it really grossed me out whenever it landed on our food. Other than that though everything was great. I got the chorizo breakfast burrito, which was huge in of itself. The portions on all their meals are big so be prepared for that. My friend and boyfriend both got loco mocos, someone else ordered the eggs Benedict pizza, and mixed scrambled eggs. I wasn't sure how the eggs Benedict pizza was gonna taste, but it honestly wasn't that bad. Tasted exactly like how you would think, minus the actual pizza flavor (it's called that because of the shape and size). Didn't try the loco moco, but overall consensus was positive. Not a fan of the cold "bruh" coffee, but the watermelon Fresca was perfect and cooling on the warm Sunday morning. Every time I have eaten at Simmzy's in LB, it's been a great experience. I've only ever been at night, even close to closing, and the staff are always ready to get whatever you need. I've had the Fish Tacos and shrimp tacos and the Arugula Salad Foldover pizza. Both are very delicious and always hit the spot. I'm a pescatarian so I love that they have a good amount of fish and veggie options. My boyfriend is a big fan of the burgers and beer selection. He prefers the Lil' Simmzy as it comes with the two thinner patties instead of the one big patty. I also really like the hibiscus margarita; it's slightly more sour than sweet, and super refreshing with the salted foam. We really like this location and will definitely be going back again soon to enjoy ourselves. Parking can be tough depending on when you go, since it's all street parking. But you can usually find a spot withing walking distance. Take a short walk down to the beach too if you have the time. read more

It was all ready to go so was quickly in and out. The burger was pretty awesome. The Wagyu beef was delicious- so juicy and tender. The cheese was nice and melty, bacon was a little chewy for me but tasted good. Oh and this burger was ENORMOUS! Could barely take bites of it since it was so big. The fries were pretty good too, I especially liked the complimentary garlic aioli they included for dipping. It's true $18 is a lot for a burger, but wagyu is some top quality beef, the burger was huge, and it came with a generous portion of decent fries to boot. Could probably split into 2 meals even. This is a review on the service....or lack of it. So let's see.....to top it off our waitress was EATING (YES EATING) and too busy to help us. It started off fine.....until I guess HER food was ready then she sat at the back of the bar eating her dinner! Granted the restaurant was not crowded but isn't that the number 1 thing they say NOT TO DO? EAT in FRONT OF THE CUSTOMERS while she is supposed to be serving? So it started off fine....came in she took our order. Ok....so far so good. Then HER food was ready....she ate at at the bar while she chatted (with her friends that came in as customers) away eating her meal. No drinks, she did not serve us our food or check in ONCE while we were eating (not that I wanted her to....she didn't wash her hands after she ate.....GROSS)! I kept looking at her bc we needed something and SHE kept eating and chatting. Our drinks were empty, we need more napkins, and I had to ASK another server for assistance. I don't like asking another server to help me....SHE was getting our tip and it isn't fair for someone else to do her job. But after waiting and trying the make eye contact I had no choice. Okay now our meal was done. We sat....and waited.....and waited....and waited....until I finally got up, went to the bar and asked for the check. THEN she came over to me (as I was at the bar) and asked if I need something? I looked at her, told her to go back to her food, and turned back around spoke to the servers that were HELPING us. On a Monday afternoon, only a few tables were occupied and they let us take any one we wanted. They planned the space well in there with more 2-person seaters than 4 or more. The hostess was also our waitress and with no one to wait on, she came to check on us a few times before we were ready to order after we got our drinks. Allagash white ale is awesome: you can really taste the citrus, smooooth with a great hoppy finish. Mom had a rosé which she enjoyed even though she struggled to swallow a mighty 3 oz of it. Lol. Prices seem to average out $6 per drink if you stick to the beer or wine list. We didn't want to over-do it, so we split the two fish taco entrée and a shareable of the blue cheese haystack with all sauce on the side - for me, the condiment wimp. Tacos were OK. They came in a double corn tortilla with so much going on, radishes, fried onion rings, dash (I do mean dash) of avocado, sour cream and sauce), cilantro and rock cod, that I lost track of where the toppings started and the protein ended. Overdoing the ingredients ended up detracting from the overall effect, I thought. Our haystack came out as ordered but the fries were already almost room temp. I'd expected them to come out warmer. Atmosphere was nice and was able to still enjoy second street views and walked here from our Airbnb. I came here for a drink and something sweet to start off the weekend on a Friday evening. Drinks: 3 out of 5 I got the Moscow Mule and one of the Sangrias (forgot which specific one), and they were quite refreshing. The Sangria was alright, but the Moscow Mule was heavily watered down, which washed down the taste of the ginger beer. I'm not a fan of watered down drinks and though Moscow Mules are great, it was not the best one I'd had. The Sangria was mild on the wine, too, it tasted more like a fruity juice than a Sangria, but honestly, I'm not complaining; it was OK. Apple-filled donut: 3 out of 5 I was craving something sweet, so the donut definitely hit the spot. However, that being said, it was underwhelming. Perhaps it was due to the fact I had high expectations. If you want a sweet dish, it gets the job done, but it may not be your best dessert option in the area. Service: 1 out of 5 I checked in at the front with the host. There was a spot open at the bar. He smugly asked if I was just coming here for a drink, I said no, he literally said, "Good, because we don't just do drinks here." Wow, is this how they speak with their patrons here? I didn't say anything in response, I was actually shocked he spoke with me that way. He pointed at the open chair at the bar, saying "That one is open", and I quietly walked over to take my seat, still in disbelief at this horrid interaction. The bartender and other servers are extremely loud with each other and inattentive. There were several times that I had called for their attention and perhaps they were busy, so I do want to cut them slack, but it's inexcusable when the poor service is repeatedly provided for the same patron. I say this a million times over, regardless of how great the food or the drinks are, the service can make or break an establishment. Location: 3 out of 5 It is located right on the hustle and bustle of Second Street in Long Beach. It's a fun place to walk down Second Street to hang out with friends or go on a date. Parking can be difficult to find. I thankfully found street parking fairly quickly. However, particularly during peak hours and on weekends, it is likely that you will be looking for parking for a while before securing a spot. I just wish there was a large public parking structure on Second Street. Until/unless that becomes a reality, we are unfortunately stuck with a Hunger Games-style street parking in small one-way streets. Ambience: 2 out of 5 Inside, there are tables spread across the room and they appear to be properly distanced to adhere to the COVID-19 safety guidelines. The vibe is retro urban-chic. There are tables outside at the front by the entrance, facing the streets. It can get crowded and noisy with pedestrians walking by. If you are looking for privacy while dining, this wouldn't be the greatest option. The restroom was a little dirty with toilet papers and water on the floor. This is a bit concerning, because we don't know how often the restrooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. read more
