I have gone to nearly all the Silver Diners in the Metro area. I know what they have and I like their brunch. That said, I took my kids and sister here for an early dinner the Monday after Thanksgiving to this one across from Tyson's. The kids menu offered a choice of milk, soy milk, or juice with the kids' meals. I was pleasantly surprised to see soy milk offered as my youngest is both nut and milk allergic. We ordered, and I ordered soy milk for him. The waitress was peppy and polite when at the table, the food came quickly, as did the boys' drinks. My son begins drinking and about 10 minutes after we got their meals (they did a great job of getting the kids' meals out well before our food), he stops eating and starts fussing and his face gets flushed. I let him continue to pick, thinking nothing of it as this happens from time to time. Our food arrives and my sister and I eat. My youngest is still picking at his food and trying to drink out of the straw (which didn't bend so he wasn't getting much, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise). So, 1) their kids meal offers macaroni and cheese as a stand-alone entree only, it really should also be a potential side item; and 2) they do a good job of letting you put together a fairly balanced meal on the kids' menu. HOWEVER--we went to order dessert and I asked for the chocolate cake and my oldest wanted milk (he had apple juice with his meal). She looks at me and says "do you want almond or regular?" I IMMEDIATELY ASKED, "what do you mean 'almond' or 'regular' do you not have soy milk!!!" She then says, "we have soy-almond"! I SNATCHED the cup away from my toddler, who has barely managed to get 2 oz out thanks to the non-bendy straw and check his face and throat--flushed, but not very red, no bumps, and no breathing obstructions--and let him finish eating. I tell her: I TOLD YOU THAT HE WAS ALLERGIC TO NUTS when we ordered. She was just like, well it's "soy almond" milk. FIRST OF ALL, NO TF it's not. It's ALMOND milk. Silk, Almond milk to be specific. Second of all, I TOLD YOU HE WAS ALLERGIC TO NUTS. We wait about 10 minutes for her to come back with our box and the check and I'm CONSTANTLY watching him to check his breathing and his face. She shrugs it off like it's no big deal. We immediately pack up--I keep an epi pen and Benadryl in the car anyway--and I walk out with him to go give him medicine. I see the manager at the register and tell him what happened and he literally spouts the SAME NONSENSE: It's "soy almond" milk. 1) THERE IS NO SUCH THING; AND 2) ARE THEY INSANE? HAVE THEY NEVER LIVED IN AMERICA??? THEY COULD HAVE KILLED MY SON!!! I had to stab my son with an epi pen and watch him all night, NOT TO MENTION THE 45 minute ride home in traffic where I couldn't see him. Thank God, he's never gotten to the point where he's deathly allergic. His reactions are and have always been slow. We were able to get him both of his medicines and watch him. He was crying and clingy all night, but otherwise fine--other than the itchy bumps he has all over his legs and arms. Honestly, if you or someone you know had a reaction and were seriously injured, feel free to reach out for a witness statement. These people were so lackadaisical, I felt like I was in another WORLD. Whether this is a franchise or a corporate location, every person in that building needs re-training. If the front of the house staff is too dense to understand what a deathly allergic reaction COULD be, they need to be forced to provide sealed and labeled food products to customers. There is no reason after I told her he was milk and nut allergic that I should have been provided NUT MILK in a cup that didn't let me know what was in it. My heart is still pounding. I am still stressed. My son is still dealing with the fallout--bruise from the epi-pen and the itchy bumps that he's had for a week. So, thanks for ruining my dining out experience Silver Diner. The "manager" was the icing on the cake! I didn't ask them to comp the meal, I tipped well, I was polite about it, but they didn't even apologize. Not once. Oh, and their menu STILL SAYS SOY MILK... be warned. read more

We had the Free Range Turkey Platter with mashed potatoes and gravy and the Southwest Turkey Ciabatta sandwich, big portions, seriously, so much yummy food! This place is always so consistent. Everything I have gotten has been good - well food at least, I have had some disappointing drinks. It's a little odd that you can get spiked drinks. I love the chicken and waffles here. It comes with an assortment of maple syrup, a spicy sauce, and sausage gravy. The goat cheese bruschetta is also quite tasty. The burgers here don't look that great, but they are also pretty tasty. There isn't anything that I wouldn't recommend. read more

My husband and I always love trying new foods and he had suggested we try the silver diner from a yelp review and I am so glad we did. I had ordered the classic eggs Benedict and a tropical mimosa, and the food was phenomenal!! The eggs were so perfectly cooked the yolks ran, the maple ham has such amazing flavor (and I dont even like maple). The kicker? The sliced tomato on the biscuit. It added such a subtle kick of acidity that it brought the dish together. We will be returning to this location. read more

I love Silver Diner! It is a great spot to grab brunch/breakfast with friends. It is economically feasible and you get a lot of bang for your buck! The portions are very large and you most likely won't be able to finish your meal. It's clean and they're following all the COVID protocols. As far as taste goes, everything is flavorful. I stand by their chicken sausage! I've ordered dinner entrees and still have taken home a side of their chicken sausage because it's so delectable. We went to Silver Diner one weekday for lunch. I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato and my friend ordered a tuna melt. My sandwich consisted of toasted bread with a tasteless tomato and several pieces of cheese none of which were grilled. The price was $15. Not anywhere near worth it. read more

When sat amongst a loud group of kids, manager and staff were accommodating and moved us to a new section. Our waiter, named PK, was great. He continued to serve us after we requested to keep him as our waiter, continuing to be attentive even when working out of his designated section. So...I used to like this place until today.... I came here for lunch because I was craving some breakfast for lunch. I sat at the bar because I was alone and ordered some eggs and sausage. I was mid meal when I noticed a woman came into my right and was asking for the manager. Turns out she was sent from the department of health for a complaint. I was all ears to hear what this was for, as I am a huge food safety person. While they waited for the manager to clear up, the health inspector was being chatted up by one of the waiters, who asked "oh what was the complaint for this time?" A bit concerning, as you never really want to hear a place has had multiple complaints for food safety. The health inspector goes on to say "Roaches. I've heard reports of roaches." At that point, I literally put down my fork and stopped eating. I guess in my eyes, ignorance is bliss but the waiter talking pretty loudly about roaches and issues at this location instantly has taken this place off my list of places to eat. read more

Not too crazy about the food here. I think it's famous for breakfast. I had no idea why I ordered fish at a diner. Don't blame me but I thought I wanted something light. The fish didn't have any taste. Hubby ordered mini burgers and that wasn't good either. However I must say that the employees here are amazing. They sync nicely and work very hard. They know what they're doing. We wanted to try their breakfast but didn't have time to come back for breakfast the next day. We went to Silver Diner yesterday because of a coupon we had received in the mail ($10 off $40 or more) and it turned out to be pretty good! It's decorated like a diner inside with mini juke boxes at every booth that actually work! For a quarter you can choose a song and it plays out at the booth and over the entire restaurant; it was a great way to entertain ourselves while waiting for the food to come! There were quite a bit of us out today so we sampled lots of things on the menu, but our highlights were the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich which was on a delish sweet potato bun, the lamb burger which tasted like a little bite of the Mediterranean topped with sausages, the ham steaks which were thick and juicy, and the roasted veggies that had beets and Brussels sprouts! The home fries we had tasted a little off and were undercooked and hard, and the coffee was pretty watery, but overall the food was yummy and the fact that it's locally sourced makes it even better. With the coupon we paid right around $50 for all five of us which was a steal! Due to the reasonable prices we will probably be returning to Silver Diner! read more

Terrible experience at Tyson Silver Diner. I been to many Silver Diner and usually have a pleasant experience. The food was okay . Everything was going good until I saw a mouse crawl across the floor while I was eating . A family in front saw the mouse as well. We approached our waitress and she just brush us off and kept demanding us to pay for the food. We then approached the manager and he said I looked and I don't see anything what do you want me to do. The manger then stated well I guess I will call for an exterminator and walks away... It was as if it was no big deal . No apology or compensation was given . I was even able to stomach finishing my food I paid for. read more

On the one hand, it's nice to have the option to eat outside. The problem is, they forgot to tell us we were meant to order inside, so we sat there...and waited. Once that was sorted out, our meal was delivered but my pesto burger which was supposed to have goat cheese had blue cheese on it instead and I don't like blue cheese so I asked for the correct hamburger to be delivered and then it was except that the meat was raw on the inside. So prior to the raw meat being delivered, they offered us two entrée certificates but now I'm thinking they need to comp my cauliflower salad which I ordered since they can't seem to get the hamburger right. I really like the feel of Silver Diner - it pulls off a casual, clean ambiance with a bit of retro thrown in there. It feels they way you want a modern day diner to feel. I'm a big fan of their milkshakes and I think my favorite meals have been some form of savory breakfast dishes involving eggs...their breakfast selection is practically endless! And, like any classic diner, they do breakfast all day, so it's an all-day win! That said, I haven't had as good of an experience with their lunch/dinner menu items. They all sound great and I keep expecting them to be bursting with local flavors but they they just fall a little flat. Maybe they're intentionally underseasoned, so diners can control the amount of salt in their meals? (They seem pretty health-conscious - with lots of vegetarian and gluten-free menu options, btw - so that may actually explain it.) Otherwise, I'd probably give four stars for ambience and how successfully they've modernized the American diner. read more

It's okay food. Kind of felt like Waffle House type foods. Eggs over cooked and dry. Pancakes weren't great. Bacon was meh. If you're used to eating out a lot this place would probably be for you. If you're used to cooking at home and have more quality taste buds maybe eat here if you're desperate to end the hangries. read more

Just had dinner there and ordered the Grilled cheese Deluxe sandwich and it came with the thinnest slither of cheese I have ever seen in a sandwich. Grilled Cheese sandwiches usually have a reasonable amount of cheese in them. It was slightly warm and the bread was not fresh. The manager, Hilda, went out of her way to help my family create a special surprise for my mother's 90th birthday! It was definitely an unusual request and I wasn't hopeful the restaurant would even agree to it but she made it happen. Briefly, my mother's grandson flew in from the UK where he lives to surprise her. We set it up at the restaurant that he would pretend to be her server once the rest of us were seated (we were a party of seven). Hilda found him an apron and fashioned a notepad for him and then we hid him in the Men's Room until we had my mother seated. Out he comes to "take her order" looking the part of Silver Diner server and you could probably hear her scream in Loudon County. A totally unforgettable moment for his grandma and the rest of us, too. Of course the food and service were great--they always are here--but Hilda made everyone's day. Thank you, Hilda! read more
