Silver Cloud is a fantastic hotel that has a waterfront view of Lake Union. I stayed there on a short trip to Seattle and have only good memories and good things to say. The check-in experience was smooth and the front desk folks went above and beyond. They gave great restaurant recommendations when asked and were so friendly to speak with. It felt authentic and genuine. The room is on the older side but was comfortable. My ocean view was simply "wow". There is a small balcony that's great for activity watching. I saw sail boats and sea planes. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic, especially the crispy bacon and roasted potatoes. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Silver Cloud and would love to stay there again. read more

I think this is a 3 or 3.5 star hotel and it fits the category. Things were clean and well kept. It was equipped with black out blinds which is perfect for hot summers. The room has a heater/air conditioner. TV has plenty of free channels. I did not find the fridge/microwave/safe until the end - it was under the TV in the clothes drawer area. I assumed it would be in the closet like other places. The bathroom was clean. The bathtub looked a little old and the water takes about 5 min to get warm. It never gets truly hot. The tap on the sink drips a bit. The bottles of shampoo/conditioner are so hard to squeeze out - perhaps they need to find a difference vendor. For some reason the coffee machine was in the bathroom when there is a perfectly good counter on the vanity desk. Breakfast is served from 6:30-9:30am and they have plenty of options. Oatmeal, cereal+milk, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, roasted potatoes, white bread, rye bread, bagels, danishes, and scones. I'm thankful they have cream cheese spread on top of peanut butter/jam! There's a couple types of coffee and teas, hot chocolate, orange juice, apple juice, and cranberry juice. On the other side there is a waffle maker with berry sauces, whipped cream and syrup. The hotel also has a gym that is much bigger than I expected. This is where you can get water. The people were nice and they do have a luggage storage service if you need to store it on the day you arrive or leave. Currently their lobby is undergoing renovation so you'll have to get a temporary key card from the valet person to get in, and then check in on the 3rd floor. The price is quite high for what it's worth as many hotels in seattle downtown are cheaper and are also 3-3.5 stars. It may be because this hotel is near the institute. read more

I've had two wonderful stays at this hotel. It's conveniently located right across from Lake Union, and there are two parking spots available on-site--one a bit smaller than the other. I've noticed construction happening each time I've been there, but it hasn't been a problem at all. During construction, the main lobby is closed, so you'll need to head up to the third floor to check in. The staff at the entrance is always ready to help you out. Once you're on the third floor lobby, you'll be greeted, and depending on the time of day, it might be a bit busy. But don't worry, the check-in process is still quick and easy. On our first visit, we were lucky enough to have a fireplace in our room, which was a lovely touch. The room is also a decent size. They offer complimentary breakfast each day, and there are some great restaurants just a short walk away. The hotel is spotless, and everyone you meet is friendly and helpful. This is my first time staying at a Silver Cloud Hotel - count me as a fan of this small PNW hotel chain. All the spaces here appeared updated, clean, spacious, and nicely appointed... lobby, breakfast room, bedrooms... I was really impressed! Most importantly NO musty or dusty smells were detected! The standard 2 queen room was well appointed and SPACIOUS! It had a large desk, comfy lounge chair w/ottoman. Microwave - YES! And all other standard amenities like fridge, safe, ironing, hair dryer. Reasonably comfy bed with nice cotton sheets. Room darkened drapes. 7th floor facing the street was fairly quiet. Gym is open 24hrs. Breakfast is terrific assortment! 6:30-10am with 1 tv showing the morning news programming. Parking here is $30/day, so it can add up. Walkable location to downtown. 20 min drive to the airport at a non traffic time. Convenient location and friendly helpful staff! I'd definitely come back for a longer stay! read more

We stayed here for 2 nights, family of 4, and it was a really great experience. Front desk was very kind and accommodating at check in and allowed us to check in early as we had an early flight. The room was clean, and was spacious enough for all of us with a room divider built into the wall so the kids could have a separate space from the adults. On the positive side, the kids were on the inside, not door side (opposite from embassy suites) so we felt safer at night. The location at first seems weird, but it was actually my favorite part. It's across from lake Union so we were able to walk to dinner, our cruise on lake Union, and to the wooden boat center. We also walked back from the space needle which may be far for some, but wasn't bad and felt completely safe the whole time. The location is actually better than downtown bc there is less traffic and noise. The breakfast spread was perfect and plentiful with a mix of fun traditional breakfast hot foods and fruit and fresh food. My only complaint were the rooms were a little dark and outdated, and you could hear hallway noise VERY well. BUT, again, very clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were fully stocked with Aveda products which was a nice surprise, and came with 2 sinks in 2 separate areas which helped with getting ready. Beautiful updated property, comfortable beds, and kept very clean. All staff, from front desk to housekeeping, were always pleasant and helpful with inquiries. We chose the Water View King room since we were in town for a family wedding and staying for a week. As such, we wanted to have a nice view during our down time (enjoyed watching the seaplanes take off and land - and ended up booking the 25-minute scenic flight which was really special). Great selections for breakfast that were regularly refreshed. Hotel was located near several easily walkable restaurants with downtown area walkable or accessed by ride-share. Silver Cloud-Lake Union will definitely be our go-to hotel for future trips to Seattle. read more

Every person we interacted with--from the garage attendant, to the breakfast staff, to the front desk--was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. You can tell there's a strong team culture here. A small example that really stood out: during our stay, the hotel was in the process of updating their door signage, and we didn't have a "Do Not Disturb" sign that fit our door. We casually mentioned it at the front desk, and they were friendly and apologetic, explaining the situation. We were fine taping the sign on ourselves, no big deal. But later, we noticed they had already replaced it for us. It would've been easy to forget, but they followed through--and that kind of attention to detail says a lot. Another thoughtful moment: I was delighted to see almond milk at breakfast, something I don't always find. The next day, it wasn't out, so I asked about it. Did an overnight at the South Lake Union Silver Cloud while in town to see a concert. This is a pretty nice hotel overall, and we splurged for the "Romance Package" which included a late check-out, "free" parking, a bottle of wine and some chocolates. The hotel was quiet and we enjoyed the included/standard breakfast - better than most. My only gripe was the hat water....or lack thereof. It took literally 5 minutes for our shower and jacuzzi tub water to warm up to something tolerable for bathing. I mean, I know it's not the Four Seasons, but hot water is pretty basic. I'd normally give 4 stars for the Silver Cloud....but the water was a deal breaker. We'll probably return someday and perhaps the score will go up then. One more thing....on-street parking behind the hotel is free from late Saturday through all day Sunday. So....if coming in for a Saturday night you can save some $$ by parking on the street instead of paying the hotel - as long as you're cool with your car being on the street, that is. read more

My mom and I got a suite for my birthday weekend and stayed one night in a suite. It was great! We had a great water view, a nice big room that we could have easily had more people in (king bed with a sleeper couch), mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot with a bar sink, a separate living space with doors to shut out the noise, french doors that opened to the outside (beautiful!) and two bathroom sinks which makes it much easier for getting ready. Our stay included free parking and free breakfast! The location was great for staying right on S. Lake Union, and a quick 5 minute drive right to all the other districts for shopping etc. Also located near the freeway! Pros: Friendly staff, excellent pricing, comfortable and spacious room, awesome amenities Cons: I could hear the people upstairs walking and talking throughout the night, breakfast was average (I have had my fair share of free hotel bfasts and this was nothing special- I would suggest adding more non-dairy options for people), construction going on was kind of annoying with the view but what can ya do about that... A few problems firing out stay: We were sad to learn there was no pool at this location. We were frustrated with the on demand feature not working on the tv and our AC went out of commission for several hours. Location is not continently located to any stores or late night restaurants. On the Surface, it was a great deal a room in Seattle with parking and breakfast for under a $100 on hotwire. Sadly plumbing issues a super tight first level parking area made it ok but not a great experience. First of the room was actually fairly nice with a king bed clean and spacious. The staff were helpful but indifferent at times. I asked about the construction out the window of my room was going affect my sleep the front desk guy said he did not know. See the photo and laugh. The food was good at breakfast and the second day I learned about second level parking which was much simpler to access. Silver Cloud hosted our guests and us for our wedding weekend. They made sure we had the best view of the lake in a suite where the bride could get her hair and makeup ready. They were thoughtful and put a congratulatory note on their TVs around the building. The continental breakfast was hearty and we were happy that we got to see our guests every morning. The beds are comfortable and the rooms private, we never had hallway noise. Parking spots were available (though you pay for this access), and the distance to downtown and South Lake Union made it easy for our guests from out of town to tour the city. Hotel located on the outskirts of the downtown core but with a complimentary shuttle that operates until 10:30 pm every day and takes you to Pike place, west lake or the space needle. Very friendly and efficient staff. Check in took less than 5 mins and assigned a spacious king suite with a view of lake union. The suite had a separate living area with fire place. Bathroom was a little bit small and took a few mins for the water for the shower to warm up. Two sinks, one in the bathroom one outside the bathroom. Aveda shampoo and soap. Free parking was another great perk as most downtown hotels charge 40 dollars / night for parking. Free breakfast was also included which included bacon, scrambled eggs and waffles. 20 min and no eggs or coffee? First time staying at this inn. An older one, but clean and orderly. Room was clean but organized strangely. For example, half the bathroom is next to the door, and the tub/toilet are separate. Not showstoppers but unusual. No tissue anywhere to be found so bring your own and this is strange. I went to breakfast which opens at 630 am. I was there at 650 and the scrambled eggs and regular coffee were completely out. I took them 20+ minutes to refresh the eggs and longer for the coffee. If you're on vacation, maybe you don't care about waiting a little extra time but I was on business and so waiting was not an option. Still, do I need to get in line before 630 am so I have a chance to get some eggs? Never happened before and I travel a lot and stay at different hotels all the time. I have stayed here a couple of times. I am a Fred Hutch patient. I booked a room for a friend of mine who was visiting me. I used booking.com. I gave my credit card and yet they charged my friend. I called to get my friend credited and pay for the room. The person I spoke with told me there was nothing they were willing to do. He was obviously not someone suited to hospitality and was unwilling to help in anyway. I would not reccomend this hotel. Its nice, but the people are not. read more

Got a suite for our 5-night stay WITH a baby and we loved it! Everything was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. We got the suite and asked for a pack 'n play so our baby could have his own sleeping space in the living room. The double door that blocked off the comfortable king-size bedroom allowed our baby to sleep comfortably and quietly without us distracting him. Bed was huge and comfy. Bathroom had everything we needed and the water pressure was good even on the 5th floor. Room had its own AC/heating system that wasn't loud. Daily complimentary breakfast was great and they of course had a waffle maker and high chairs! The breakfast lounge had a nice view with comfortable seating and a very bright/open atmosphere. The strata on Sunday was especially delicious. The front desk staff was always so friendly and accommodating! Parking is $25/night in their structure that is on the 2nd floor. Very convenient location! You're about a 10-15 minute drive to everything. Would definitely stay here again. Only downside: the blackout curtains don't close all the way so a fair bit of light peaks through. The living room in the suite doesn't have blackout curtains at all. Another great Silver Cloud experience so why the 4 stars? Well, having the trash container picked up at 3 or 4 in the morning (not sure exactly what time but it was early) really blows! Those damn trucks make so much noise and literally woke me, the wife and the 2 little kids up. Besides that the rooms were nice, clean and roomy. The beds are comfortable and the internet worked well. The TV / cable was a little tricky but we figured it out. The free shuttle service is another great service offered which is really a plus. Have stayed here a few times. Never again!! Front desk has no concept of customer service. We were promised a room w a view and told it was "blocked off" due to our late arrival. Upon arrival, the front desk person knew nothing about it and put us in a different room. This in spite of calling a few hours earlier and being assured. A few years ago, they had a reception on Tuesdays. No more. They used to have an indoor pool. No more. Rooms are dirty and customer service is horrible! We will stay elsewhere next time. I thought this was going to be a nice place to stay but it was awful. First off I paid with app to try to get the cost down but it was still expensive. Then to my surprise I come home and saw they charged me extra charges and I even talked to a few people at the front desk to make sure I had no extra charges it was a lady that charged me extra the guy was friendly and even gave me a nice room. The lady said I would not be charged just as long as my room was not damaged which I kept it in good condition. There was a maid that got on the elevator that pushed her cart into me when she should have waited to take another elevator. The promise of breakfast was a lie they said they ran out of food and there is no shuttle either they said they haven't had that going on in a year yet they advertise they have a shuttle and they dont! Loud construction was going on and crack heads outside my window. This place isn't worth it at all. Please save yourself the headache and don't go here. I wish I could say I had a great experience as you can see on all my other reviews I like to leave good reviews but this one I needed to warn people of Silver Cloud Inn after my horrible experience. I don't leave reviews but I am so utterly disgusted by the lack of customer service here. We were given a gift card to stay there. I booked the stay one day before the gift was to expire for 2 weeks later. The girl who booked it said that they would honor the certificate and to be sure to bring it with me. 2 days before our reservation I called to see if we could get a view room and the girl who answered the phone could not find our reservation...she was very disinterested in helping me resolve the problem and didn't even offer for me to book with them. The next day I called back and the gal was helpful, she figured out that our name had been misspelled but the res was there. We arrived for our reservation and we were told that they would not honor the expired (by 2 weeks) The gal who booked our reservation denied telling me that they would honor it and the manager stood behind her. Terrible customer service on many levels. Apparently they don't care about trying to keep a customer. So they got paid for a room that we didn't even get to use. Shameful. The exchange between the front desk employees was also very unprofessional. We ended up staying in a hotel downtown for less $/night and a much classier place with excellent customer service. read more

We stayed two nights at Silver Cloud Lake Union this past weekend, following a cruise vacation. Very happy with my choice! Our room (303 - just the basic room, no upgrades or specific view) was spacious, immaculately clean, and well-appointed. The entire hotel is exactly as it appears in the photographs on this and other sites. We were especially pleased with the breakfast included - your choice of scrambled eggs, sausage, roasted potatoes, hot and cold cereals, hard boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, and fruit. I thought that was it and then I spotted a WAFFLE BAR - a few machines to make your own waffles, complete with toppings (whipped cream, chocolate chips, fruit toppings, etc.)! You enter on the first/ground floor, and I guess the parking garage comprises the first and second floors; we didn't drive so I'm not sure. Rooms start on the 3rd floor, which is also where there is a spacious lounge and patio, which doubles as the breakfast area in mornings. We stayed in 303, which was on the north side of the hotel and we did not hear any noise from the street, highway, or other guests. I was pleasantly surprised (or read so many hotel reviews that I forgot, haha) with an in-room fireplace, controlled by a wall switch! And the flatscreen tv is HUGE - bigger than we have at home. Lastly, the free shuttle is a great way to get in and out of the city each day. There are three stops offered (Space Needle, Pike's Place, and Pioneer Square) where you can be dropped off and/or picked up throughout the day. They use a large silver van that is labeled with the hotel's name, and holds maybe 12-15 passengers. We used the shuttle 5 times over 2 days. You can make a reservation or it's first-come first-served - I would advise reserving your spot as the van was full several times when we left the hotel in the morning. read more

We've spent 2 anniversaries here and I'm sure we will be back. It's always a pleasant experience and they really went out of their way to accommodate us for our 10 year Anniversary. The staff is always professional and prompt. We had an issue with our jacuzzi tub and they went someone up right away and when it wasn't able to be fixed quickly they moved us to another room without any incident and the gentleman that was going to fix the faucet, waked all the way downstairs to get us new keys for our room. Everything was clean and the ambiance with the fireplace in the room was just PERFECT. The hotel even gifted us a bottle of wine! I've stayed here twice for work trips. Always very clean and the rooms are pretty spacious with standard amenities in the room such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, a hair dryer, coffee and stationary. Not sure why my work booked it, but one room even had a fireplace and hot tub! There is a clean gym with TVs, water, towels, separate bathroom and both cardio and weight machines in addition to free weights. The breakfast was good with the highlight being (for me) the make your own waffle station. You can take a shuttle to Pike's Place Market,The Space Needle and other stops so I'd say you don't even need to rent a car if you are on a short visit. There is also a convention store downstairs if you're looking for a quick place to buy refreshments. Tips- They accept Apple Pay (even at check-in) Sometimes Uber drivers get confused and pick you up/drop you off at the back... if they do, you'll have to go up/down a long flight of stairs. read more

Very nice hotel. Rooms are large and clean. Seattle Times delivered to door every morning. Exercise room with a few cardio machines, some weight machines, and a set of barbells as well as enough open space to stretch/do yoga. Breakfast includes hot food (an egg dish, sausage, potatos, waffle maker) in addition to "Continental" breakfast items. Breakfast area also has a nice overlook of Lake Union as well as a fireplace. Never try to extend a stay at this hotel. They'll charge you and then fail to communicate that extension to any of the rest of their staff so they'll have people calling you and coming to your door telling you you need to leave despite you having paid for additional nights. And when you leave and ask for a refund, they'll say they'll refund your money and then just not do it. Try to email them and ask where your refund is? Don't worry, they'll completely ignore you. Terrible organization, leadership and hospitality. Please stay literally anywhere else. read more

Silver Cloud Inn - Lake Union is a great option for those who want to roam Downtown Seattle without having to deal with it during your down time. The rooms are pretty clean and come with a pretty large TV. The toiletries they provide are ones I have seen in 4+ star hotels. The stay comes with a great continental breakfast, which you can enjoy with in their beautiful dining area. Room service was very prompt, which I really appreciated. Decided to come to Seattle on super last minute planning in the middle of summer annnnnd on a weekend. Boy was that not the best choice. This was one of the highest rated and cheapest hotels compared to anything else during our visit. Before my vacation even started, someone at the front desk, was kind enough to inform me that the best and least expensive way to get to the hotel was to take the light rail from the airport into downtown for less than $2.75 then call them and they'd have a shuttle pick us up! The light rail was perfect! great way to settle in to your surroundings and get a peek at the surrounding neighborhoods. The ride has about 10 stops or something like that, takes about half an hour to get to downtown with. Once we got to the meeting point of the shuttle we called them and they arrived within 15-20 minutes and we were on our way to the hotel. During our stay they had a shuttle every half hour going from the hotel to 3 main tourist areas (pioneer park, pike place/downtown, and Seattle center). Very convenient for first timers that aren't looking to go extremely far. Dave was the best!!! Don't forget to tip these guys! The concierge/front desk was super helpful with helping us find things to do and places to eat. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating at all times. One of the best parts was at the end of each night around midnight, we'd come back after a long day and go to the Jacuzzi! I think their pool/Jacuzzi is open 24 hrs? Great way to wind down on our days. The hotel is right across lake union so you can literally take a 2 minutes walk and be right by the lake to watch sea planes come and go. Dukes is about a 5-10 minute walk for a simple good lunch/dinner. Our room was a king and we got a pull out sofa bed! Perfect for my friend and I. It's a suite so they have a tiny kitchen area as well. I wish they had more of these everywhere else in the world!!! Can't complain about anything at all. I like this place. It has that family owned feel. Workers were friendly and courteous, hotel offered a free shuttle service, complimentary breakfast that's good, large rooms, and free parking. The one thing I didn't like was that the sheets were scratchy! read more

Sitting in my hotel room, as I complete this review. Horrible experience from the minute, I checked in. David, the front desk rep was highly rude and insensitive. For a five night stay and payment in advance, I was given a room where you could hear the sounds of cars/large trucks passing up/down the street. I'm here on travel for work with one the largest companies within the US and to be treated, as nothing is shocking. The Shuttle driver (M-F) should take lessons in customer service. Extremely rude to hotel guests when they request shuttle service to a specific location. Constantly interrupting guests conversations to correct them. My leather jacket was stolen from the closet in my hotel room. No accommodations or anything just "I'm sorry." This has to be the worse hotel, I have ever stayed in. Update 8/8/2014 Adding more info, as their Staff stole my leather jacket hanging in the hotel room closet! After numerous calls to the front desk with no resolution, with the staff saying, "You sure you didn't leave it in a cab? or Our staff will never steal" I was able to retrieve the main line to their corporate office after they refused to give it to me. I ended up speaking with the Director explaining my experience. Needless to say, 2 hours later the front desk left a VM saying they found my jacket. Very sad, I had to go through these lengths to retrieve my items. Be very aware of this place. read more
