We decided on this place for the price & proximity to Pike Place. We couldn't believe the view, the perfect view of the sign. A smaller room, but very clean & modern. We pretty much just were in there to sleep,so it really didn't matter. Checking in & out was quick & easy & everyone at the front desk was very nice. You get a $15 chip for every night you're there that can be used at the restaurant or their little convenience store. We used it at the store & got a few snacks & drinks to go. If you have a car, definitely take advantage of their little discount affiliated with the parking garage they recommend. We had the best time & hope to be back again soon. read more

Next to the Marketplace so great for tourists. $15 credit for any food or drink in the hotel. I'm giving it a 3 star mainly for charging me $25 for checking in an hour early (3pm instead of 4pm). Chase Sapphire Reserve edit review. Only stayed here because of the credit. It is a HUGE plus (and the only reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1. Literally right next to Pike Place. Maximum, I would stay here would be 2 nights. Ideally, if it's your first time, just use it as a hub to do your touristy downtown items. Besides the location, it goes downhill from there. Weird check in experience. Made eye contact with the staff inside since the door wouldn't open and she pointed me to go around (thinking I was there for the restaurant). So was running around in the rain for no reason. Then a bit slow on the check in process. Rooms were on the smaller side. Windows are transparent. The Chase credit you get with the card is pretty hard to use...and we didn't have a good experience with the restaurant. Parking is ~$30 a night. It is on the cheaper side, but it is a walk away each time and kind of a hassle to go in and out. Location only plus. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere. read more

My stay at The State Hotel was exceptionally pleasant. First off, it's conveniently located - just a block from Pike's Place. Parking is included (I I think) should you have a car. The garage is just a block away from the hotel with easy in and out privileges. The hotel lobby gorgeous. It's well lit and quite spacious. And each floor has really fantastic wallpaper designed by a local artist. It gives whimsical and fun. I do fear that the room is definitely on the smaller side - though not unusual for boutique hotels. We didn't spend a ton of time at the hotel, so it was just big enough to suit our basic needs. It was quaint and clean. They do have a cute little rooftop where you can grab a drink and catch the sunset. The front staff was so friendly and helpful. This hotel is very convenient. That is pretty much it. The room was decent on the surface, but poorly designed. The hotel had me fill out a "pre registration" form and it outlined a very strange guest policy. They specifically outlined "quiet hours" and other strange "rules" that made it seem more like a dorm or hostel. I tried to ask for a late checkout the night before, but was told I needed to call in the morning to request it. Why would I want to wake up early, if I'm asking for a late checkout? When I did call in the morning, I was told they already have the maximum allowed. I was up early, because there was a loud noise that seemed to be coming from wither the walls or outside of the building near my room. When I told the front desk, they said nonchalantly that it was the birds. Wtf. The gym equipment has a single channel on the tv, if that machine has a tv that works. There was one employee that was exceptional, I don't remember his name, but he went above and beyond each time I had an interaction with him. Or, possibly them. He/they had cute nails. From check in, to helping me find the Hertz location in downtown, this employee was by far the best of the 3 or 4 I interacted with during my stay. read more

We booked this hotel through a Costco travel deal and were absolutely THRILLED with our stay here. The ambience of the hotel is incredibly chic and cool and the front desk staff were very friendly. Our room was spotless and they came and cleaned our room every single day while we were out sightseeing which was SO nice and a huge bonus for us. The room itself is a little small, but that is to be expected in an older/smaller building downtown. The location itself was also incredible. A Target/CVS right across the sidewalk, a Salt and Straw on the other corner, and right next to Pike Place Market. The restaurant in the hotel (Ben Paris) was also incredibly clean and delicious. The only downsides to this hotel was checking in was difficult as there wasn't really a good place to park and finding the entrance was confusing. The other downside is that there is no on-site parking-you have to park in a garage a little ways down the street and walk to and from the hotel, which although isn't necessarily difficult and is common in a city, is still a little inconvenient. We also had issues with the room service-they had switched over to a new system one day without notifying us and so we placed a dinner order, never received it, and then the restaurant was closed for the evening. We tried a burger another night and it was mediocre. Besides the room and parking-I really was pleased with the hotel in regards to cleanliness and location. Overall we were REALLY impressed and would absolutely stay here again! read more

Love the art deco atmosphere and the incredibly comfy bed! Noah, at the front desk, was very friendly and helpful to us two old ladies. (Patient and kind to us with our million questions.) Lots of information upon arrival! The expensive daily parking was a surprise, but I guess we should have guessed this would be an added expense. The rooms are small, but the bathrooms are huge. So, that's a thing. I'm not a huge fan of the open shower concept, but it was a great shower with lots of water pressure and roomy. We had a pretty city view from our room. One thing.... You really can't sit and relax in your room. There's one chair, and it's very tight in there. If you're in your room, you're in your room to sleep. If you're in town to sightsee, this is the hotel for you! It's right smack in the middle of everything you want to see, do, or eat! Short walk to all! read more

The State Hotel is a lovely hotel and conveniently located within a 5 minute walk to Pike Place Market. I also wanted a hotel close to the link station drop off. It was a 5 minute walk from there, which I took from the airport! PICTURES BELOW. EXPERIENCE: The lobby is stunning. I was only there a night before a cruise. It's a short 5 minute drive to the cruise terminal! That was in traffic! The restaurant looked great, but I didn't try it. Unfortunately I got a room that was dirty. It had a nice view that I paid for though. There was hair on the bed which was a turnoff. They had me switch rooms. Then I had a view of a parking lot. I tried not to let that bother me. The room was cute. I bought a robe! They are so cozy! Unfortunately there are still dirty features in these rooms. The fans were filthy as well as the blow dryers. The boxed water was $10. Please just give one free water! This hotel deserves a 3 Star Rating for this experience, but I feel like being generous. I will possibly give it a second chance if I'm in Seattle again, simply because the location is ideal. Overall, I loved the hotel! The rooftop terrace at sunset is a must! read more

Great place! We stayed here a couple of nights in Seattle after an Alaskan cruise. As someone who grew up during the grunge rock era, I have had many ties to Seattle, even though I have never been here before. This hotel is located downtown near the public market, so it is just a few hundred feet away from Pikes Pl., Fish Company, chewing gum, Alley, and a number of other famous sites here on the waterfront. It is also close to the monorail, which makes it very easy to get to the sky needle, the museum of Pop culture, and Chihuly Gardens. Comfortable bed and spacious rooms. Great staff! And a very nice restaurant that is attached to the property. Highly recommended! read more

We loved our stay here! We were a little late to check in and the front desk was speedy so we could catch the end of Drinking in the Rain event at the Roof Top. The views were incredible and really relaxing. We enjoyed our cocktails that the bartender made and had a great conversation with him. Everything was immaculately clean, stylish, and convenient. The walk to Pike Place was great and we really enjoyed our early morning stroll before leaving for our cruise. This hotel is great, has wonderful security measures to ensure safety, and everyone here is super pleasant. A must if staying in Seattle. read more

I really loved the location. It was a nice clean hotel in downtown right next to Pike Place Market. The restaurant was pretty good, but I don't really recommend it. The staff was really friendly and even gave us a really good recommendation for a place to eat. There is one major issue, the parking. The parking lot is so expensive and not next to the hotel, but down the street across from Target. It's pretty lame, especially in a city that mists a lot. But if you just want to walk and don't worry about a rental car, it really can't be beat. Just two blocks down is a monorail that takes you straight to the Space Needle. Also, there is a bar on the roof that is open during happy hour. Great view! read more

WOW! The State Hotel for the anniversary win! What an excellent surprise in Downtown Seattle, a gem of a place! Took a chance on our travel plans to Seattle to celebrate our 13th anniversary, and found an excellent priced bundle that included The State Hotel on the itinerary. I just had to go for it! Wifey & I were pleasantly surprised we did! Since it was our anniversary I decided to email The State Hotel ahead of time to ensure a special dinner for us at the restaurant located within the hotel, Ben Paris. Another great experience I will save til next time! I got an email response right away from the general manager Anne that all was ready and the staff was looking forward to our stay. Nice touch! Upon arrival to The State Hotel we were greeted warmly (it was a chilly day LOL) and was told upon checking in they took the liberty of upgrading us to a room that was overlooking Pike Place Market, letting us know it was one of the rooms with the best view! We loved it! And upon getting into the room there was a nice setup of munchies and a card welcoming us and thanking us for celebrating our anniversary with them! Much thanks for the super welcome! The State Hotel is seriously conveniently near the heart of Downtown Seattle - Pike Place Market is literally 80 steps from the hotel entrance, Target is a hop away across the street for your necessities, and the Link Light Rail entrance is a skip away for when you need to go back to the airport! We even had some drama at our stay with The State Hotel! I managed to somehow knock over my wedding ring to the back of the room dresser and couldn't reach it because the dresser is bolted into the floor! I went into panic! But hotel staff to the rescue! The next morning we were leaving on a ferry to Victoria BC so we stopped by early to let them know of my predicament. Front desk staff told me not to worry they'll get maintenance on it. No more than an hour after we left the hotel & we were on the ferry on the way to Canada - I received a text saying that my ring was found and it would be left on a secure spot on the dresser. OMG - what life savers! Totally made me feel at ease the rest of our stay is Seattle. I even love the check out at The State Hotel, most places would give you til 11 AM but they gave us til 12 noon to enjoy our time there! What a difference that hour makes! We were able to conveniently enjoy brunch at Pike Place Market before leaving to the airport. I can't say enough nice things about The State Hotel and it's lovely staff - it was one of our most memorable stays in Seattle, and we do visit often for our anniversary. Seattle is one of my wife's favorite places to visit during this time. It's almost a yearly pilgrimage. I think The State Hotel will be one of our mainstays now when we visit again! We've stayed here three times now in the last three years - each time we've taken an Alaskan cruise I'm in love with this hotel. The rooms are beautiful you can't beat the location! Literally steps from pikes place - and they hands down serve the best coffee in Seattle (sorry Starbucks but it's true) Ben Paris - their hotel restaurant has delicious food both for breakfast and dinner and is decently affordable in comparison to the over priced places at Pikes Place . I have sent so many of my friends to this hotel when they're headed to Seattle because it's just the most divine hotel! read more

Located in downtown Seattle just a few blocks away from Pikes Place Market. There's also a target directly across the street from the hotel. The hotel was really great. Customer service was wonderful. They were polite and courteous and very helpful when asking directions or recommendations for places to go/eat. We even got a discount to the museum of Pop Art from the hotel. Do you have a great restaurant and bar in the hotel which made it convenient and there was also a rooftop patio area and she could hang out at. Overall, our staying was a great experience. read more

First off, pretty amazing location being directly next to Pike's Place Market. The front desk staff is very professional and courteous. However, they don't offer any Valet services. So if you need it, you're a bit SOL. They have parking at a third party garage at 2nd and Union, but be prepared to have to walk half a block to go grab your car in the morning if you're here for work. Front desk was kind and our bags were checked no problem until the room was ready. Location was good, market is right there. After a day of road tripping and explore the staff was so accommodating and helped make sure our dinner was ready and waiting for us when we arrived! The hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated, very clean and tidy. Their terrace suite was well worth the price for us. We loved having a drink on our private balcony. Stayed here over Halloween weekend. Customer service and check-in were excellent, and everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly and welcoming. However, we booked a terrace room and the upgrade was not worth the splurge. The terrace door was poorly sealed, so every night it sounded like there was a raging blizzard outside. The room itself was also quite tight for two people--we constantly had to squeeze past each other between the bed and the narrow hallway leading to the entrance and bathroom. I had one medium checked bag, and even finding adequate space for that was a challenge. Cleanliness was a major issue. I'd rate it 2 out of 5. There was a lot of hair on the bed, stuck to the wool decorative blanket. The bathroom had what appeared to be old (possibly blood) splatter on the doorway, along with more hair in various areas. After reporting the issues to the front desk, the next day the bed somehow had even more hair on it after cleaning, which was unsettling. Once I no longer feel comfortable with a room's cleanliness, it's hard to recover from that. The manager was very kind and understanding, and did adjust some daily fees. On a positive note, the location is fantastic--right around the corner from Pike Place Market. The terrace, while initially disheveled, was enjoyable to use when the weather cooperated. I wouldn't choose to stay here again based on this experience, but the restaurant downstairs does serve an excellent espresso martini. read more

Upgrading my rating to include clean but small room, daily cleanings, friendly staff, easy booking to support via yellow cab. Nice to get $75 credit for dining. Wish they would provide free water to bring to rooms. Original: Just for woke around midnight for an "emergency". When I went to the lobby, everyone was just killing around. Then fire trucks and firefighters came to the building. 15 minutes later I see people getting into elevators. No communication at all regarding what type an emergency it was, where to go during this emergency, why there was an all clear. Was outside and female staff member opened the door for me because I'm assuming that being outside is best in an "emergency". I asked her what's going on and she mentioned someone must have pulled something in their room. Also they don't provide fee water as it is $8. Really bizarre behavior and complete lack of communication. I wouldn't stay here again nor recommend. Great location. They do keep the homeless and drug addicted folks out by licking their doors from the outside. read more

Booked the hotels only specific room and requested an early check in as I was traveling with my son and they don't have double bedrooms. My early check in was denied and despite a very friendly person at reception we waited in the lobby for 4 hours while I saw multiple people getting their rooms as they just walked in. I totally understand a busy hotel and turning rooms etc but prioritizing turning rooms for people that aren't here vs guests sitting in the lobby is pretty frustrating. We paid a premium for a room and the very least they could have provided a comped breakfast at the restaurant. Lots of options for hotels but for a brand trying to be service oriented major failure. I'm sure it's a fine hotel but building customer loyalty comes from doing the little things right. read more

Stayed 1 night before our 7 day cruise to Alaska NCL Bliss. If you are looking for a place to stay, this is the Hotel for you. It's so close to Pike's Place and if you forget something Target is right next door. Hotel room is really nice. I was surprised not to mentioned shocked! You know everyone says downtown has a lot of homeless, it's so dirty etc but it wasn't. They also have a restaurant by the lobby. This so the hotel for me when I will be in town. read more

Paid more than our usual price range for a one-night stay in Seattle but it was worth it. We couldn't check-in early but we were able to drop off our bags and walk around town then check in a hour later(still before normal check-in time). We were glad that the hotel had secured garage parking down the street with in and out privileges. This parking option was cheaper than the other downtown hotels in the area. Our room looked out to the street, nothing special. No fridge. Bathroom was clean and bed comfy. We were excited about the outdoor terrace on the top floor looking over Pike's Market and the Puget Sound. We bought food from Pike's,  picked up drinks, and had the terrace all to ourselves. There is a restaurant downstairs that was busy all the time. Front desk was friendly.  Light breakfast is available in the lobby. Loved the location. Would stay here again. read more

Like camping except not -- because you're squeezed into a tight space with no fresh air and possibly a thermostat that can only be operated by the front desk. 2 guests? 1 robe naturally. Need water? Ask at front desk, and he sends you to Target across the street. Guess he forgot he worked in a hotel. We later found complimentary water sitting out in lounge that the employee doesn't know about?! Check in? Prepare to pull into a tiny space on street while busses honk at you and no staff offers to help. Fridge in room? Nope? Wine glasses? Nope. Silverware for the delivery you're forced to order on door dash? Nada. Extra towels? Nope. Room for your suitcase or luggage wrack? Nopeeee. Open restaurant downstairs past 8 pm? No. You give them your $ and it's survive for yourself after that. Literally over 100 prescription pills of various types when you open the drawer from a previous guest? Yep! Check out 2 nights earlier to move to the Hyatt, and have this ridiculous hotel extort your credit card with the booking agent for those 2 nights, even though you were promised a refund? Also a yes. This hotel is a huge no. For no other reason than they're not even cleaning properly between guests. Finding a ton of pills was beyond disturbing. Not sure what's going on with this place but it is nothing good. Sorry. read more

Location: Hotel is a couple minutes walk from Pike place. There's a target next door too so if you forget any essentials you can head right over there. 10 minute drive from Starbucks Reserve and 6-10 minutes from the Space Needle/Chihuly Glass Museum. Parking: There's some parking garages across the street. I don't know why some of the prior comments said it wasn't anywhere close it was really right there lol the State hotel has a partnership with one of the garages that's off of 2nd street (located diagonally from the hotel) so it turned out to be $55 for two nights. Food: Ben Paris is downstairs and they gave us 2 $15 coupons for the restaurant! Super cute place and seemed busy the entire time we were there. We had a lovely overnight here this past weekend, and dined in the restaurant! We called ahead about parking options and were wisely advised on how to pull up, unload (without rushing), and then park in a nearby garage for a fair Seattle fee. The check in person was lovely and helpful, as were all staff we encountered during our stay. A $15 credit to the restaurant, Ben Paris, was included in the nightly stay fee and was presented in a very chic cute way: as a poker style chip! The decor was cool--especially the Seattle themed wallpaper (can you spot the dahlias?!)--and included some metal and leather room accents, hip room photos and general nice modern boutique level touches (deep dark carpet, well tiled bathroom, great shower products). We even requested and received an extra soap on the way out to take home because we loved the smell so much... Sicilian blood orange I do believe! One pitfall: a hair or two spotted in the bathroom sink upon arrival; certainly not my favorite discovery. As a bonus, our room came with some local decadent (AMAZING!) chocolates... one of which was a peanut butter and jelly flavor... melt in your mouth delicious! And some bubbled water too as we let the hotel know at booking that we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. There is a very cute bar with a view on the 8th floor (roof top) that is a must for the views at a minimum. We enjoyed coffee in the lobby before heading out to the conveniently located nearby Pikes Market and breakfast at a fave spot. All in all it was a fantastic overnight stay! read more

This hotel is extremely conveniently placed within a very short walking distance to pike's place, this made it super easy to get up and be there in less than 5 mins. I also have nothing but great things to say about the hotel front desk staff, the room wasn't very clean but the hotel staff was very helpful in assisting us with anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable! Very quick and attentive! Another issue is that since you are close to pike's place with heavy traffic, it can become a sketchier area when you are out at night. I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. It was very clean, and even the lobby was nice to hang out in. I checked in very late after a long train ride and I was thankful check in was extremely easy. The robes in the rooms are awesome!!! I honestly wanted to ask about taking one! They are not just your basic robe, they're sweatshirt robes! I loved lounging in mine and relaxing. As a plus size traveler, it's difficult to find robes that fit, so this was especially exciting for me. The bed was extremely comfortable and I fell asleep scrolling through the tv channels they had. The location is unbeatable. I walked quickly and easily to pike place market without having to endure the inclines on other streets nearby. As a Floridian I didn't think about the city not being flat, so I'm glad I made the choice of hotel I did. I only stayed one night in this hotel but if I find myself in Seattle again I'll be looking to book here first. read more
