Attracted to the general concept of Ace Hotels. The boutiqueness of it anyways. Over the years, due to their popularity, Ace I have found has became progressively corrupt. For one it has nose high pricing. They charge a pretty penny for what is more or less hostel style rooms. Which can be found a fraction the cost around town. With its shared baths and wcs. This particular one has no handicap accessibility let alone ramp or elevator. The deco, though might have been charmingish, is outdated and disconnected. And don't get me started with the amenities and gift shop. Terrible. Sorely disappointed. Not recommended. read more

My partner and I have been staying here a couple of times a year for over a decade. We have zero interest in staying anywhere else. It's clean and classy. Every room is uniquely stylish with zero tacky! So what if the waffles are gone get over it and go pig out at the bakery cafe across the street. Also Cyclops is downstairs and they have the best veggie burgers ever. The staff here are always wonderful. On this stay we were lucky to meet Brandon and Christina. Just the best peeps. Just so friendly charismatic and beyond helpful. It's less and less common nowadays to feel like anyone in the public service industry really cares anymore. Fantastic place to stay at if you need a great hotel and value price near the public market and the waterfront. Tons of restaurants and bars near by. Can walk to everything including space needle and MoPoP. Smaller rooms but very well designed and comfy. Clean and modern feel. Good AC in room kept it cool for us. Liked the mini fridge we had to use in room also. Very nice shared breakfast and kitchen space on bottom level. Full set of dishwear available, microwave oven, breakfast available each morning consisting of boiled eggs, oat cups, cereals, apples, yogurts, OJ, milk, and milk alternatives plus coffee bar. Also has a nice little business table area near the front desk. The staff are super kind and very friendly here. Very helpful as well. They can direct you to anything you seek or want to go do in town. Check out the cool little Cyclops bar and restaurant right under the hotel as well. read more

PARKING TIPS: Street parking only however it wasn't a particularly difficult process to navigate. Here's how it works. Parking is free from 8pm to 8am. You pay via the PayByPhone app which is very easy to use (it informs you of how much time you have left and you can easily add via 15 minute increments). It's really cheap (50 cents for 1 hour). The limit is 4 hours though. However, the limit seems to only matter within the app as it won't let you add $ and go over 4 hours. We let the 4 hours expire and immediately started another session at the same exact location. It worked fine as I don't think parking enforcement is marking your tires or anything. At 8am, we also started another session in the same exact spot so the car sat there for like 16+ hours. If you're nervous about it, just plan to park your car at 4pm or after so that you're within the 4 hour limit once the free evening parking hits at 8pm. A hotel employee also said she doesn't think enforcement is too stringent so as long as you're paid, I wouldn't worry too much about how long the car has been sitting there. HOTEL: Super cute boutique hotel. I loved their plant-filled lobby. It's a bit difficult to find from the outside as it blends into its surroundings and doesn't really look like a hotel. CHECK-IN: Simple and friendly. Just a heads up, they have minimal front desk service. I believe they left at 5pm which is really early. This is the sort of hotel where you get a front door key in addition to your room key. Thus, if you are getting there later, you have to make alternate arrangements. The hotel was really good at reaching out to me after booking to inquire regarding my check-in time. ROOM: Minimalist but cute and trendy. We even had a little patio! Comfortable bed. We were warned that the hot water would take a bit to get going due to the current limited capacity. It did take a little bit but once it got going, it was very hot. My one complaint would be that the heaters didn't work too well and it was a bit cold in the room. LOCATION: Belltown is a pretty cool area where you are within walking distance to bars/restaurants. Also really close to Pike Place Market. We got there as the lockdown restrictions were being tightened and it was pretty apocalyptic. In the early evening, very few restaurants were still open and the only people on the streets were homeless. Saw broken car windows and clearly mentally ill homeless folks. Honestly didn't feel very safe at all. I'm sure it's a temporary status quo during the lockdown but just a heads up. read more

Simply great hotel. It IS just the basics, but the basics have flair and have been chosen with an eye towards good design. The location is perfect. Quiet but close to hip bars and eateries. There's free breakfast featuring pastries from the bakery across the street that has a line out the door on weekends. The staff are friendly, real people. I highly recommend! read more

Stayed there years ago and had a lovely experience so we decided to come back for a one night stay as we were transiting through Seattle. Only this time we were given a room right above the busy/loud bar on a Saturday night. As we were checking in, we asked if we could get a different room but were told the hotel was booked so NO! We had a terrible night, couldn't get to sleep until the wee hour of the morning. We woke up exhausted and to add insult to injury, found out from a different front desk person that we were lied to, quieter rooms were available but previous desk person couldn't be bothered. Morning person was curt at first but soon realized that we had been mislead and apologized profusely and waved the "service fee" as a gesture. Next time we are in Seattle, we'll probably look for other (better) options. read more

We stayed overnight here before embarking on a cruise. I had a good experience last time, and the pricing for downtown hotel accommodations here can't be beat, so I booked a deluxe room because I remembered the regular rooms are teeny-tiny for two. The service here is absolutely fantastic, the breakfast is delicious (pastries from Macrina Bakery across the street! Oat Milk! Individual Tillamook cheddar cheeses!) and it's located close to many attractions and delicious restaurants/coffee. It was also super quiet and everyone was respectful of everyone else. And there was a Frasier marathon on... when I was in Seattle... come on, does it get any better? Stay here! read more

Very friendly staff, clean facilities, and a tasty breakfast included. Also a great location! This is probably the most I've ever paid for a night at a hotel... so that's probably just the local economy, but it still seemed odd that it would be so expensive and you still have to share a bathroom. Regardless, the bathrooms were clean and it didn't matter all that much. I only went down a star because the windows don't do a lot for sound control, and my room was along what seemed like a busy city street. I heard trucks unloading throughout the night. Very trendy, hip and quaint hotel. Seattle Ace Hotel was the first Ace Hotel location. Was very hard to find, does not appear like your ordinary hotel from the exterior. They offer covered parking at $45 or you can choose to do street parking which runs from 8 am - 8 pm through a park and pay service that charges roughly around $1/hour depending on the date/time that you park. The rooms have the best pillows I have ever used in my entire life, I plan on buying a set online when I get home ($120/2 pillows). The room did not have body lotion or a mini bar. Other than that, everything was great! I even had a view of the water. Not a bad rate either for downtown Seattle! read more

We stayed at the Ace the night before our cruise to Alaska. I choose it because it was listed on one of those "Ten Best Hotels Near the Cruise ship pier" lists. After searching the internet and seeing the brick building, I decided to go for it. What a pleasure! Our arrival time was hours before check in, but that was OK because we were able to store our luggage, then walk the 10 minutes to Pike's Place. When we did check in, I was delighted with our room. Super clean and decorated in an industrial style, our room featured a great view of Elliot Bay! The owners have left the beautiful architectural details alone, and modernized where needed. (The hotel was built in 1910) The room was full of thoughtful details: a mimi fridge, handmade ceramic cups, monogrammed bathrobes, etc. The location is perfect, too! Like I said we were close to Pike's place. The Ace is close to a wide variety of other restaurants, including a mini mart across the street. If you stay at the the Ace, you won't be sorry. While looking for affordable hotels for a last minute trip to Seattle, I came across Ace Hotel. I absolutely loved our stay here! A lot of people question why this place has such high ratings, but keep in mind that it is a "2 star" hotel. It's not supposed to be ultra luxurious. The location was convenient. Every room is unique. The hotel felt safe, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was nice. I think that's what's important. It kinda felt like living in a dorm, minus all the loud noises. I loved the free breakfast and the waffle maker (even though a stranger had to help me make mine LOL). Pros: - The (free!) wi-fi was quick enough for me to browse through facebook and watch Netflix on my iPad. - The beds and bed sets were super clean and comfy. - Very welcoming and knowledgable staff. - Great breakfast & free beverages (OJ, milk, coffee) - Free stationery in the lobby. Cute postcard! - Every room is unique and it makes you want to visit and see 'em all Cons: I really wish I could give this place 5 stars, but let's just say that my room wasn't fully cleaned upon arrival. During my last day staying here, I had my outfit laid out on the bed and my socks rolled off. As I went to pick it up, I noticed something that wasn't mine under the bed. Gross! Very clean little hotel with all the necessary amenities. Booked a room with shared bathrooms and I'm so glad I saved money doing it. The bathrooms (5 of them nonetheless) were impeccable and very comfortable. The comp. breakfast is a plus, coffee is good and so is the food. Great location too, walking distance to parks, restaurants and tourist attractions. Staff was courteous and very accommodating. A HOTEL WITH ONLY SHARED BATHROOMS?: EEEEWWWWWW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I realized that I do use the public showers at the gym, dance studio, and Yoga studio...and all the Ace Hotel reviews average 4 Stars and say its cool...so since I was going solo for 1 night and it was only $109/night for downtown Seattle, I took a leap of faith...Yelpers have never been wrong right? ;-) PROS: 1. Bathrooms: Clean, lockable, chic, free shampoo/conditioner/body wash...it was really doable. I'd even have sex in here. 2. Location: Space Needle, Pikes Market, Cruiseship Terminal and "dozens" bars within walking distance. Ace is even on top of a bar, Cyclops,and it was alright. 3. Breakfast: Free! I ate 2 Belgian Waffles, 1 Bowl of Almond Granola with Soy Milk, 3 cups of coffee, 2 cups of OJ, and 1 Apple. 4: Bed: Warm and Cozy. 5. Free WiFi 6. Noon Checkout! Plus you can leave your luggage in their office afterwards. 7. Ambience: Cool, Modern, Hip, IKEAish, and Clean. 8. Boys: The guys who staffed this place were friendly, helpful, and pretty darn cute(I'm 49% gay, so I can admire). CONS: 1. It might be a bit noisy, I was in room 124, but Ace does provide ear plugs in the goodie jar. 2. Your American girlfriend or wife probably won't find this very romantic...though 2 condoms are provided in the room for free. (Also in the goodie jar.) 3. Small room, but its definitely doable if you don't plan on being in your room much anyways. 4. More hostel than hotel...but you do get your own private room...and I've never stayed in a hostel so I guess I can't make a legit comparison. 5. The price could be a bit lower, but $109 was the cheapest in downtown Seattle / Belltown. I didn't see many other guests around, but they all seemed to be foreign or hipsterish, and at age 33 1/3, I think I was the oldest person staying there. If you've done the hostel thing in Europe, Ace is for you. I'd definitely stay at another Ace Hotel again... but only if I was going solo again and if I'm not a rich snob by then. TIP1: Don't forget to bring your room towels with you to the shower! I had to make a run for it, soaking wet, back to my room. :( TIP2: If you're flying into SEA-TAC, take the Light Link Rail to downtown Seattle for only $2.75. If you just have a carry-on luggage you can probably hoof the 10 blocks to Ace, but otherwise a taxi from the station was only another $4.75. read more

Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Most of the outlets in my room did not work, they had a portable ac unit in the room venting out the window that made noise constantly. Everything is very run down in the hotel. The only food option is a vending machine with candy bars that only takes cash. I paid ~ $200 a night and was staying here to check it out more than anything else but instead of checking it out I should have just checked right out. read more

It doesn't get better than the Ace! When you combine the really modern and somewhat minimalistic styled rooms with insanely affordable prices you get the best hotel in town. Even my friends who come to visit who have pretty big budgets love the Ace because of how funky it is. Built in an old Seattle brick building, the rooms span a few different levels. It's easy to get lost but taking a tour is always fun! There's a great little breakfast room, a lobby with a rad terrarium and some rooms come with little covered patios or views of The Sound. Most recently I peeped a room that was more unique than any hotel room I've seen. The entire back wall of the room was a room-wide glass shower! It operated as the headboard to the bed (so this room wouldn't be ideal for a pair unless they were lovers) but how sexy and awesome is that?! You could even watch TV from the shower if you wanted to go the super un-romantic route. It's almost too bad I live in Seattle because I need more excuses to stay here! read more

If it were possible to marry I hotel I would have swooped in on the Ace Hotel in Seattle this weekend. That's also provided my current husband didn't mind sharing me with a hotel? Whoa. This review is really taking a turn toward the naughty... Moving on... Staying at any Ace Hotel is like staying at your super hip friend's studio in the best neighborhood of the city. There is nothing at this place that makes you feel like you're in a hotel which I enjoy. Keep in mind though this isn't a luxury 5 star kind of place. It can be a tad bit drafty and the raucous crowds on the street will be heard through your windows if you're facing the street side of the building. BUT. The beds are oh-so cozy. The comforters are oh-so-warm. The staff is oh-so-friendly. And you really do feel crazy cool in the rooms, the check-in area or any of the work areas as well. The coolest part of my stay might have been the continental breakfast. I know, I know. It sounds kind of lame, but this continental breakfast has a waffle maker and pre-mixed waffle batter that you pour into said maker and flip to turn a timer on. 2 minutes and 27 seconds later you're pouring maple syrup on the Belgian waffle you just created with minimal effort. I am a sucker for novelty and this thing hit it out of the park. Also included in this breakfast is Stumptown coffee, fruit, yogurt, granola, and fresh-squeezed juices. Holla!. And I lied - the coolest thing about my stay was my bathroom. If I've ever underestimated how important the staff is to a hotel stay, let it be known right now: the guys behind the desk at Ace Hotel really made my stay. Y'all deserve five stars! The accommodations, on the other hand, not so much. Ace Hotel is just not for me. Whether or not the other locations have something seriously amazing going on, I'm not sure I'd ever stay at another one of their properties again. I feel like they offer a lot of bare minimum... at a hefty price. I couldn't help but think of European hostels during my stay here. Things like no drawers, a tiny rack with three hangers that I only discovered when checking out (look up above the window, stupid girl!), bare white walls and thin, crappy towels-are all part of the Euro hostel appeal (not to mention that you save so much money by staying at these places). But the sorta cruel joke is, you walk out your door not to the foreign streets of Barcelona or Lisbon, but to Seattle. I love Seattle, don't get me wrong, but it's not Paris. Nor is it New York. I expect more in a hotel in a city where accommodations don't come at a premium. Luckily, I was staying here for business purposes. Had I, personally, been paying 200 bucks a night for this room, I would have been pretty pissed off. I've stayed at the W in San Francisco and Chicago for less money and a far superior experience all around. Other things to note: There's no gym. I stupidly just assumed they'd have one, so that's my fault. That doesn't change the fact that this is a major downer for me as I like to roll out of bed and into the gym (even if it's 10 floors above or below me). Ace has a "deal" with the Seattle Athletic Club and one other gym where you can pay 15 dollars per day to work out. When a room costs 200 a night, I think that's no deal. Especially when you consider the 10 minute walk to and from the gym, if you're on limited time. They do serve a very Euro-style breakfast. That's nice, but I prefer a gym. It's in a pretty hip and happenin' hood. Ace is definitely going to appeal to the whole hipster aesthetic. Oh, the irony. I'm not their demographic because I don't think there's anything cool about spending top dollar to rough it (just take a look at that Ace Survival Guide they leave on the desk. "Survival Guide.") Thin walls. Very thin walls. At one point I looked above me to see if I was in a partitioned room with walls that didn't reach the ceiling. There's this feeling that you're in a communal space. Someone even had their door open the entire day. Definitely not a fan of this. My dorm days are over, thankfully. (And yes, they do leave ear plugs in the survival kit.) The smell of cleaning products (think, Lysol), was so overpowering in my room, that I almost asked to be changed to a different one. I never do that. Upon speaking to the kind gent at the front desk, this wouldn't have made sense because the other room available had just been cleaned, too. Come on, Lysol, really? That's so 1980s Howard Johnson. I expect more from a boutique hotel. The front desk dude offered both some kind of machine to suck the smell out and a fan, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who has complained before. As is typical with my hotel reviews, I'm going to run out of room. This is all the major stuff, though. To summarize: minimalist amenities do not pair well with high prices. I cannot recommend the Ace Hotel, but I do want to stress that the staff here is exceptional. read more

Update: The hotel was nice enough to contact me. Folks that read their Yelp reviews are top notch in my book ************* Pro-Tip: Don't get the standard room. Longer tale: This hotel is pretty as a picture and I've heard tell (like that?) that there are rooms that feed all your wildest comfortable hotel room fantasies. But this review is for a standard room... which does not. After 5.5 hours of travelling all the way from the middle of Texas, then walking 13 blocks from the lightlink that broke down with my suitcase, I trudged up the (admittedly gorgeous) steps to the Ace Hotel, tired, dirty, and excited for some one-on-one time with a shower, a cool room and a bed. The girl who greeted me had been really nice about my incessant phone calls asking how to get there. We figured out my room, I sigh, open the door... and the panorama that awaits me is not exactly what I expected. -- two single twin beds -- a small fan -- communal shower (just down the hall, y'all!) -- no bathroom -- a tiny sink -- two windows overlooking a busy street (great on a Friday night with cars zooming by) -- a mini tissue packet Surely a mistake? Hotel rooms don't exist like this outside of Europe for $15 a night? No mistake. It's a standard room. Unfortunately, I think this makes the whole situation a function of miscommunication. Everything else was fine. You've got a breakfast where you get to make your own waffles, the shower's clean and there are mirrors in your room for makeup application. The Ace Hotel is conveniently located in a great area (a good walk to the Public Market, shopping area and the needle). It's a flight up to the "main reception level". I would suggest upgrading to a deluxe if you want a more comfortable stay, but if you are budget conscious and wants to save any amount of bucks, then stick w/the standard. The Standard Room (which my friends stayed in): is smaller, has a sink, a desk, a small lcd tv, a fan, a full size bed and a stool to sit on. It's basically a one person room if you want comfy, but if you're opting to share, if you have too much stuff, your space will decrease. The Deluxe Room (which i lapped it up in): full bathroom, fridge, ac, medium sized lcd tv, desk w/chair, lounge couch, a mini-nook to hang clothing, queen size bed, a bed side lamp, and a rocking chair. It had exposed brick on one side of the wall and top half mirror plus wood paneling bottom on the other side. Thank goodness the room i was in was decent. It had a duo showers and was shrouded in a red see through shower curtain. If you want super privacy, I slid the door (which doubles for the potty door) to cover a bit. I can't help it if i'm a prude/modest. I fell in love with their Ralph Brand line of products. If you like, you can purchase directly w/them (they'll charge to the room) or go around the corner (even get a cut) to Ralph's to pick some up. I love how right by the front desk, there's an area to sit and go online w/my netbook (wifi free throughout the building) or jot down items to do while visiting from their copies of travel books. For complimentary breakfast from 7:30-12pm, you have your pick of toast, yogurt, granola, apples, do-it-yourself waffles, milk, coffee, tea, and water. A tellie in the "mess hall" to keep you updated with the day's news while you munch on your breakfast. The staff is superb. They are super friendly and helpful. Gave me a break on the room when i decided to upgrade my room while checking-in. Super! And I don't know whether to thank or lament on the excellent recommendation of Macrina. I was there EVERY day I was in Seattle. Sometimes twice. I even got a card that's almost due for a freebie (dang it, should have max used it). Alas, all good things come to a close. After my vacation and I returned home, I was slightly disappointed in seeing my room. I expected to come home to the relaxation decor as that of the hotel. Have no fear, I will convert thee to a minimalist modern feel!! read more

The Ace Hotel came highly recommended so it wasn't even a question where I would stay during my recent trip to Seattle... Katy H told me a bit about the history of the hotel and of course, that it's the "original" Ace. Crystal told me to request a basement room with a courtyard and behind-the-bed shower. I did as I was told and was not disappointed! When I walked in, I was greeted by Richard. He and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly. As I walked to my room, I got a feel for the uniqueness of the hotel - it's not your big chain my any means. It's got a hipster / European / indie vibe to it. Some of the rooms do not have private bathrooms, so if that is something important to you, I recommend requesting a room with a private bathroom. And while my room (#130) did have a bathroom, a little courtyard, and a funky shower, it didn't have a hairdryer, and the robe that is in the room is thin - not warm and cozy as I've experienced elsewhere. One more thing worth mentioning is that the walls are thin at the Ace. I could hear people in the hallways, above me, and in other rooms. I used the free wifi at the hotel without any issues - huge perk there! I didn't take full advantage of the continental breakfast, but I did check out the community room and took some fruit and granola to snack on during my stay. The hotel is located in Belltown, which is a super cool area with lots of shops and restaurants. It's about a 15 minute walk from Pike Place Market. I usually stay in hotels that have some sort of gym/fitness center and while the Ace is lacking in that department, they are only a 15 minute walk from Seattle Athletic Club and it's a $15 daily rate to take advantage of their facility. I'm definitely a fan of the Ace but if you go, just don't keep your expectations in check; it's no luxury hotel, but the room rate, service, vibe, and uniqueness make it worth it in my book! read more

I don't know why, but after reading all the reviews and seeing the pictures of this Hotel i was a little skeptical about staying here. Maybe it was because i was intimidated by the hip factor of this place and thought i would look frumpy and out of place in a sea of cool 20 to 30 somethings. Whatever the reasons, my irrational fears were shattered when i arrived at this hotel a few weeks back for my stay. I was greeted by an adorable man with a bronx-esq accent? He was so sweet and informed me he had put me in the corner room overlooking the street. I walked into the room and was amazed with the size and decor. It was so beautiful i whipped out my camera and starting snapping photos straight away. The giant door/mirror/wall that separated the bathroom was extremely cool. We had a huge king sized bed and all the amenities one would hope for in a hotel. The dinning commons and the overall community feel of the hotel was so different than i am used to, being from the standoffish city of los angeles, and i found it to be a real nice change of pace. I loved this place and I really want to stay at their other locations specifically the Portland one. I highly highly recommend the Ace hotel. oh its also in a great location and you are literally steps away from public transit and a few more steps away from pike market and shopping and great restaurants and the whole bit. go here. read more

From the sleek modern design, the location, the free waffles and coffee to go, to the clean bathrooms that were playing Cocteau Twins as I showered, the windows the peered out into the city, cozy blankets and warm feel throughout. If you've been to Europe, sharing a bathroom is the norm. It doesn't bother me at all, as long as they are clean. They were always open and available whenever we needed them. I really like this motel/ hotel. The concierges are friendly and the place is clean. Picture in my room is strange..

Comes within an ace of a five star rating!! Not what you'd expect with the mixed reviews from other Yelpers, but if you approach with an open mind for adventure, this place will surely not let you down. The five bathrooms on our floor were shared, but given the size of the hotel, you're only likely to share with 3-5 other people on a given day. Bring a pair of shower shoes or flip-flops if you're worried about the hygiene of others. Breakfast is included and definitely a bang for the buck. Waffles, toast, granola, yogurt, fruit, milk, OJ, and Stumptown coffee. There are vending machines for snacks, sodas, and other accessories. The location is wonderful. We had a view of the water, not the best, but still a view nonetheless. Within a brisk walk of Pike Place Market, Ferry Terminals, Space Needle / Seattle Center, and SAM. We also took in a Mariners game, which was a good two mile, 25 minute hoof to SafeCo Field. Notable dining experiences in the area for us included Lola, Belltown Pub, Bedlam Coffee, and Piroshky Piroshky. All in all, you can't go wrong playing this ace! read more

Paying for a hotel and got a hostel. Staff is socially awkward and not equipped to work in hospitality. Despite asking on 2 different days back to back I could not get my room fully serviced. First night they just remade the bed with dirty sheets rather then changing then. Also did not replace towels, just took dirty ones and did not replace with new. Pointed this out to staff and they gave me two pillowcases to change myself...and told me it was "weird" that happened... 2nd day I asked then to ensure room was taken care of- again paper products (tissues) were nit restock nor were two glasses. At night I went to from desk to request two glasses that were not restocked. Front desk guy told me glasses were found on mini bar tray- when I finally got him to understand that no I did not have any in my room he told me to go check the kitchen..... Shared bathrooms are not clean- lot if hair. Mattresses are terrible. Both twin beds in my room have a very soft sagging center that gives absolutely zero support. This Ace is NOT at ALL like the other Aces I have been to. It seems just no one gives a shit here and it's really disappointing. I could have paid a lot less then $600 for a weekend stay at a hostel and Id be willing to bet a hostel staff would have been a lot more competent. ACE SEATTLE- TOTAL FAIL!! read more

I loved this place. Started out a little rough, but the amazing staff accommodated our needs without hesitation. We were placed in a room in the front (above the bar) which made it impossible to sleep before 2:00am. It was a Monday, but apparently they usually aren't too loud on weekdays. The staff called the bartender, who decided to drag his drunk ass up the long flight of stairs, which turned into a heated argument between the two. Wow, what an awkward 2 minutes. Staff acknowledged this, called our room, and upgraded it for the night (in the quiet back). Rooms: Our first room (standard) was a nice cozy size (before the loud music started playing. Story above). Second room (the upgraded one) was huge! The meager heater wasn't able to warm the entire room. It had a nice big bathroom and a stylish brick wall. Our third room (we couldn't afford to stay in the upgraded room the entire time), was super small, we were barely able to fit all of our things in it (as we were here for a week), but it was directly across from the bathroom. The shifting around was a bit of a pain, but we were fine with it, especially since they gladly listened to our needs (we felt like big time naggy jerks). The standard room was the best deal, super clean and a nice size, and it's only $90/night. A sink is accompanied with all room. Staff: Amazing. They are all very friendly and helpful with great recommendations (although Yelp was our primary source). They provided champagne on New Years Eve (in a can? nice!). Bathrooms: I only saw a bathroom occupied once or twice the entire time we were there. Sparkly clean with body soap/shampoo/conditioner provided in the showers. I wouldn't worry about wearing sandals in here, as the shower floor appeared twice as clean as mine at home. I think there were 5 bathrooms combined (4 with showers and 1 without). Continental Breakfast (in the common space): Milk, Soy Milk, coffee (decaf and regular), and tea (a plethora of fancy ones) and Orange juice are provided. Food included waffles (make your own in the waffle maker - crispy and fresh), yogurt, granola, toast (freshly toast your bread in the toaster). Common Space: Open day and night. Coffee and tea is provided. Vending machines, ice, microwave, and washing machine/dryers are available. Tables and chairs are placed throughout. Flat screen TV and and a bowl of apples are supplied. There's a fridge, but it's locked. The staff will place left overs in it upon request. Location: Downtown, Pike's Place Market, Seattle Center (with the rock and roll museum, science fiction museum, etc.), ferry (to Bainbridge Island, British Columbia, etc.), bars, food, galleries, boutiques, and everything else you can imagine is all in walking distance. The bus system is amazing in Seattle (the free zone is about a block away). Taxi's are always extremely easy to catch in the area. Belltown isn't the best place to walk around by yourself at night (coming from San Francisco, this place seems like Beverly Hills), but it's not terrible. I'd at least pair up, though. Price: Can't beat it for $90/night (I think $160 for your own bathroom). You're not going to get room service and a fireplace, but for the authentic Seattle experience in a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment, the price is unbeatable. Overall: Stay here. This place is awesome. Not good for kids, but if you want a nice relaxing spot to stay with your honey, this is the place. Don't forget to check out the condoms and the mini Karma Sutra book provided. If you plan on hitting the sack early, you might want to request a spot towards the back of the hotel, although the street view from the front is rather entertaining. read more

I recently arrived from Seattle and checked out so many great and not so great places that I'm ready to start writing my Yelp Reviews! Ace Hotel is definitely an awesome place to stay. I can't stress enough how convenient this hotel is to everything!!!! It's right in the middle of Seattle Center and Pike Place Market! My boyfriend and I walked everywhere with the exception of Kerry Park and Paseo/Troll. it was perfect! I really liked the minimalist decor. We stayed in a single room overlooking the noisy downtown 1st street.. (sigh, I'll get to that issue later).. back to the great room.. It was very hipster esque, modern, and vintage. There is a mini sink in the room and the shared bathrooms are in the hallway. There's about 4 bathrooms and all of which were impressively clean! Moving on to the noise factor..As a native San Franciscan, I'm somewhat acquainted to noise --people walking outside, trains passing by, and cars guzzling. However, I don't live on a main street such as 1st Street where sirens go off, drunk people scream, and cars honk. It wasn't a big deal, I woke up a couple of times, but had no problem going back to sleep. If you're a normal to heavy sleeper, you will be fine! (Note--The hotel provides ear plugs!) Free wifi and breakfast (waffles, yogurt, fruit, orange juice, almond milk, pb and j) Overall, a great and affordable place to stay in Downtown Seattle! This hotel is very unique. Once I stepped into this hotel, I knew. The one most feature of this hotel was the fact that there is no private bathroom / shower in every room. In fact, there are communal bathrooms and showers. Much like a college dormitory. I thought it was kind of a neat concept. Loved the room. Reminded me of my room at home. Quaint hotel for the price and it was centrally located in downtown Seattle. Will stay again!! The front desk staff was friendly and approachable. The lady who worked on the weekends was cute. The Ace is a good bet for your money, if you're traveling on a budget. We got the standard room with the shared bath; the room was small but clean and the bed was comfy. Our room was facing the outer wall which is right above a lively street with lots of activity well past 3 am, but luckily we had ear plugs. The shared bathroom situation is fine: there was never a wait for one to open up and they do lock, so you have it to yourself once inside. The best thing about this Ace was the included continental breakfast: make-your-own-waffle station, fresh juice, Stumptown coffee (in to go cups!), bread and a toaster, granola, yogurt and fruit. It had everything I would want. Overall I'd say the Ace Hotel in Portland is the better of the two, but I would stay here again. read more

I love this hotel w/hostel attributes. The rooms are clean, modern and stacked with sufficient supplies. There are robes, a sink, desk, Flatscreen tv, snacks and comfortable beds. This is a standard room, so bathrooms & showers are down the hall. A deluxe room has more...an inbuilt shower, toilet and patio. Perfect. What I love is the offerings of magazines to browse through and/or keep. Breakfast is included and it's good. You can select yogurt, granola and fruit, or make your own waffles in a waffle-maker. Of course as a Canadian, I was happy they had maple syrup for my waffles! They also have refillable Stumptown coffee, even with to-go cups. The service is friendly, and I feel I get everything I want here. However, I think in room fridges w/booze options would make it better:) There is a pub right downstairs, so that works for those who want a night cap. It's a bit noisy from the street, but supplied earplugs cover this up. It's a good place. Visit. read more

Ace Seattle, you were everything I wanted. Quaint, quirky and cool. The atmosphere is unbeatable. I stayed in a standard room with the shared bathrooms which were surprisingly clean and easily accessible. I stayed in room 113, and it was cute! The morning breakfast was such a great added bonus, you make your own waffles and Stumptown coffee is complimentary. (Score!!) The service was great, and the location was easily accessible to the Pike Market. Ace, I have fallen in love and will visit more to come! Thanks for the stay! read more

I swore I wrote a review before, but apparently I'm mistaken. This is our second time staying here. The first was for a Seahawks game against the Rams in '14 where we clinched home field advantage for the playoffs. We arrived early, and the gentleman manning the front desk was kind enough to get us a room well before check in and an upgrade to a deluxe room! It was a five star first visit. We later stayed at the Portland location and was disappointed in how much less the hotel included in your stay as the Seattle location did. Now I lead into why I am finally making sure I part a review. My wife and I stayed again in Seattle's location for our anniversary and again everything was as we expected. The staff is one again very friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 119, which is a deluxe corner room on the to floor. You park on the street and can keep an eye on your car. One window looks out over the sound watching the ferries go back and forth. The other over looks the street and ally way, giving you the industrial ombiance. Either way... this is our go to for getaways. read more
